Hey all,
I updated my AT&T Nexus One with stock GRI40 and all of a sudden SMS messages stopped working both to and from the phone. All other features work including calls, etc.
In an effort to fix the issue I reflashed to stock Froyo FRF83G (which SMS worked on) and then rooted and flashed the rooted version which is available from this forum as well. This still failed in the exact same way. Messages are not received and nobody receives messages I send.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Could this build not work properly on AT&T phones or is there something I need to do to get it working. Is there any known method for debugging SMS between my phone and the provider?
Thanks in advance.

Dumb question but did you check your APN's to make sure they weren't changed in any way?
Should be under settings, wireless, and then APN

The APN looks correct.

Any other ideas? (I had to modify the MMSC link above to post so the ; and the ,'s are actually : and .'s).
Thanks,

just to rule out other factors, can you try sending messages using another phone with the same sim card?
Likely a problem with your carrier or account, and not the phone.
Also, this should have been posted in the Q&A forum, not here.
Please pay attention to what you're doing.
This is exactly what it was. AT&T somehow deactivated my SMS setup off the account completely. Took them a day to figure it out though. Thanks for the help guys.

hmm.. I know you do on CDMA so it could be different on GSM then.. But then why isn't his MMS going through?
I do not know. All of other phones worked with MMS without a data plan like my iPhone 3G. I know a lot of people are having trouble with this like me from other websites.
remove the MMS Proxy and port.
It didn't seem to work. Are those your settings?
No, those MMS Settings were from my Nokia 6680 that didn't have a data plan.
but my G1 has a data plan and those are my settings:

this worked for me until i switched to cupcake, if that helps.

Yes a lot of people are wanting mms for their G1. No one knows the settings though.

I hope this works
yea i also wanna know how to get it to work without the data plan
Thanks for the link but it didn't do anything. We just have to wait until someone shares their working settings.
Bump bump bump
I can't seem to get it to work anymore either..
Has anyone come across settings that avtually work yet?
I rooted my G2 and flashed the Modaco v2.3 rom. Everything is fine except that I have no mobile data, the APN settings are empty.
Now I've searched for several hours and found many sets of T mobile settings but none of them work.
Could someone who has a stock G2 please post their full APN settings here? You can get these from settings>Mobile Network Settings>Access Point Names then open whatever is in Access Point Names and post the list of settings.

Note, no .co
You should also set up another APN for MMS messages with
APN type:mms
otherwise you won't be able to send mms when you are connected via WiFi.
Regards,
Dave
I should have seen that myself. Taking out the .co sorted it. Thanks everyone.
The second APN you're suggesting for MMS messaging, what settings should it contain?
Pretty much the same as the APN you already have, except that you populate the APN type.

hello all
i recently changed from the windows os to the android os on my T-mobile US Htc HD2.
i need help with one minor problem i have been having; i cannot send or recieve mms while on android on the HD2.
i am running the android froyo 2.2 by dan1j3l (or however its spelled ) and i have had no problems at all, except this. Oh, and i noticed that the volume(sound:ringtones, speakerphone in calls..) is lower than when running windows mobile. but to make things clear, i do have sound on my HD2 when on android froyo.
those are the only two minor problems i have had on the phone.
please help me
im not sure what other information may be needed in order to help me solve my problem, but it would be much appreciated!
thank you,
Vic_Gar
most everyone IS having trouble with the mms... i can recieve as i've heard others can as well but few can send. it's being worked on.
As for sound, it's the same thing... i think i read a few builds have improved sound quality but i'm not sure which... just gotta keep trying em all out, that's what i did.
I am also having this problem hopefully the devs will fix this..its been a month since i could send or recieve MMS
oo and im running froyostone rom
add me to the list.
although...i did have it working for a bit, using the settings where the proxy was set up in the default apn as well as the mmsc field. but it was SLOOOOOOOW (like 10 mins) to send an MMS. I messed with it (of course) now it won't send at all.
I can't find where I saw it but as far as low volume goes you need to max the volume in Windows before booting Android. As android basically runs like an app initially the WM volume setting is applied to it. Hope that helps.
ok, mms is working again.
it's still really slow though. This is my setup. What's a bit different from what I've seen is the combo of filling out the default prox/port and the apn type. I think most of what i've seen suggests filling one or the other.

I had this issue before myself when I first installed Froyo. What I did:
Before booting into Android, I made a call and hit Speaker, then raised the Call Volume all the way. I then turned off Speaker and raised the Call Volume again. I also double-checked the "Sounds" settings and made sure everything was set to "Normal".
I no longer have issues with the sound.
Hope this helps!
I can send and reciece MMS in Android
Im running Htcclay's SuperHD2 on mine and the only thing that acts up is if i use Chomp SMS. When that preview popup comes up with the text, when i reply it doesnt send. Everything works fine if i open the text and send a sms/mms
I have better luck sending and receiving mms using RMNET rather than ppp. It is very slow to send though...
I tried xjjk settings and, they did work for me. I don't have the MMS Protocol setting. Mine is not slow either.
So far this is working for me.
I'm using Darkstone HD2Froyo V3
There is a mdeejay build revolution 1.5. It has a link to mms fix for t-mobile us.

How'd you get it to start working?
While booted in android goto settings, wireless controls, mobile networks, access point names, press menu and select new apn, enter the above settings, press menu save. Go back into apn and select your apn you created.

yes follow the directions to add the MMS settings on your phone. everything will work after you install but with Android on your Micro SD card remember to reboot after the first boot. then everything should work.
once i got the settings right everything was working fine recv and sending MMS

Those are one of the two most common TMOUS "working" settings I've seen floating around on the forums, and I highly believe that the settings depend on your plan, location, or some other vague difference. Also, some mention setting the proxy screws up their https sessions. The other version is:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type:default,supl,mms
There's a few TMOUS MMS threads floating around that might have other settings as well. Try one of the two above & see what works for you.
Also, I found I can't send MMS to a friend of mine, and after some troubleshooting, found that it's our phones sending too big of pics for her phone (on AT&T) to receive. I installed an app on an earlier build (that I can't remember name of) that pre-shrunk pics before sending, which then worked fine. So, when testing, check to see if it's your phone not sending, or just theirs not receiving.
This fixed my issue! yay! Thanks you!

aAnyone know why? When I receive an MMS it just says downloading and never downloads, even after 2 days. Can't send, either. This has been a problem on many android phones I've had, stock or otherwise. I'm on AT&T and don't pay for a data plan. Is there a way for me to turn off the data usage and still send MMS?
I'm running Team Whiskey's Nero v5 w/APNdroid. Even on stock I had issues.
Whoever can fix this wins a cookie. It's been an issue for years.
MMS are sent and received over the data network. You can try turning off wifi as that seems to help the sending of mms, although it won't work without data.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know that, but the apndroid feature "keep mms on" is supposed to temporarily allow data for messaging. Windows Mobile and dumbphones let me send texts, and I am signed up for MMS, just not data.

For the record, I had the same issue on a Nexus One I had.
Also I was told to check packet data on a forum but I'm pretty sure that just enables data, thus I get raped with charges.

I tried those and they don't work either. Do they work for you? I'm about to call AT&T to see if they jacked up my settings on their side. I used to be able to send MMS on my Blackjack and i don't know what's changed... my plan sure hasn't.. also I uninstalled APNDROID and I am using the ROM's "Disable Data" feature to disable data instead.
Yeah they work for me. It's just that the MMS plays as a video. I'm not sure if that is a common problem or not.

I just flashed Darky's universal ROM and tested to see if MMS works and it does. I've also used Bionix 1.2.1 and Trigger 2.6, and those were fine with MMS too. I don't have my data blocked.

3 was bought by vodafone here in aus. Have you tried the vodafone setting s.

Something to try that sometimes works here in the UK - send yourself a mms message - I've heard reports of this working.
Also, on T-Mobile here in the UK you have to have a data connection (not WiFi), in order for the picture to download.
Just having a regular connection means you get just the text notification

I ended up flashing the most current version of North America LT15a software on the phone using WotanServer.

i have this problem, im on vodafone uk, solution for me is switch to wifi then long press 'message not downloaded', select download then the data activity symbol pops up and downloads the picture, seems stupid but i dont receive many so doesnt bother me too much
