any ideas to fix it?/
yeah i got the same problem
how to switch the boot to android only
everytime it freezes and after booting it winmo is booted and everytime i have to open haret
Same problem here, freezes every time. What is a decent OS that is stable, and doesn't eat the battery? And has a camera that actually works?
Kernel
Hey Guys,
Its most likely a Kernel problem so you need to update the kernel
to do this you simply have to overwrite the files "modulesxxxxxx.tar.gz" and “zImagexxxxxx” with the new ones
you can try these Kernels.

Or
Search the forums for kernels
If i have helped give thanks

have a tmo us hd2
had a past version of android with sense it worked fine. tried a different and got the pause at jumping to kernel so tried a clean version, it worked. ive booted it plenty of times, then tonight it stopped working
so im trying froyostone with sense and now it wont boot either
im on omega v7 newest and radio 2.1.5.28_2
I was on the same problem, i think you have the android files directly on your SD Card? So that is the problem, put them in a new folder android.
That helps me, the first boot was by me also possible, but after that all reboots end in "jumping to kernel"
nope. theyre in the android folder.
and i just tried switching to the 2.12 radio
the strangest part is that is was working the past few days and earlier today...
id understand a certain build not working but why would it randomly stop working.
Have you made, since this problem more reboots. I have on my HD2 sometimes that i must boot 2-3 times to come up
yup, tried multiple reboots and both radios
have you solved a problem? I've similar problem. Each time I turn on the phone - I'm getting this error. Sometimes it helps to remove "cache' folder and some others and restart twice or may be 3 times. But no working 100% solution.

Very good job, DEV team you are masters
When I'm getting stuck at jump to kernel, I normally remove and reinsert the sd card when I booted into WM and most of the time that fixes it.
I (and other members) have found that "Jumping to kernel..." freeze occurs when one is using Windows for a period of time. The solution is usually to re-boot and once Windows loads *immediately* boot into Android. This has not failed me yet! Before I was like you, wondering why sometimes I get the freeze and other times I don't...but a fresh boot into Android solved my issue.
Hope this helps.
have you changed the kernal lately or switched any file , or renamed anything
have you tried changing the startup.txt file? look around for that solution..it has been posted here many times.
I would give you a link but I am posting from my cell so it would be a little difficult.

Hey guys!
Got a little problem here!
Here's the situation, I'm perfectly able to flash CM6.10 (? - The latest stable for Wildfire anyway), but I've had no luck when trying to flash CM7. Either, it gets stuck at the white HTC splash after flashing and rebooting, or it gets stuck at the CM splash screen. The arrow just stops moving around in circles and freezes!
Not completely sure what this could be, I clear everything before I flash CM7 so ... And I ofc admit that I'm no sort of expert in this area, as almost every single flash has been perfectly fine to me, so I thought that you guys could figure this one out .
Regards
Try flashing kernel v4.1 from the HCDR.Kernel thread from the Wildfire Android Development Zone. Since you say you have cleared everything as stated by the first post in CM7, guess I wont be going into that.
I actually tried that as a last resort before going to bed yesterday, and that solved the problem! So thanks anyway, you were right !
Later on I installed the Gapps for CM7, but then when i booted my phone, i got the "Low Memory"-warning that wants you to remove some apps, and all the apps started to crash all the time. Especially the browser, not entirely sure of what's causing all this!
Hi,
I had the same boot problem and 4.1 also fixed it for me. I've not had any low memory issues but I only really have the google applications... One problem I do have is that I don't seem to be able to pair with any Bluetooth devices, I just don't get long enough to type in the PIN!
Can't post a report on the dev thread as I'm new here...
Andy
PS Which 6.10 have you been using? Did you have any Bluetooth issues?
Hi ..
I had updated defy to the latest cnmod nighty version. ( 110410 ). Eveerything was working fine. i played with the phone for the entire day. video acceleration was awesome and played gt racing.
Suddenly there was problem with wifi connection. I decided to restart the phone. Choose the reboot menu . and now the phone is stuck with the moto logo on startup. Nothing happens after that.
When the bluelight blinks after the android menu , when I press the down button , I get android bootmenu v1.0.5 (By cynongen defy team and galaxy) ,
i was not able to do anything from here. It has these menus :
1)Boot : boot is set to 2nd init
2)cpu settings
3)recovery : in the recovery menu , If i choose latest recovery or stable recovery , I get error in /system/bootmenu/script/recovery.sh (Result: no such file or directory) , and when I choose stock recovery , the phone restarts and is stuck with an exclamation mark )
4)tools: I could understand what to do here.
When nothing did work , I pressed both up and down button after changing boot to normal. there i cleared some cache or something , cleared everything that I could.
After all this my phone is in the same place. A moto logo on startup.
Please can someone help me . This is my first android phone and also the first costly phone I bought and I did something nasty on the first day itself.
i am a normal end user who knows nothing more than gui.
thanks in anticipation
hey
flash a stock 2.2.2 with RDS from bootloader
you gonna need latest defy drivers for windows plus a stable froyo i guess
google this "how to unblick a bricked defy"
let us know what you do and what changes
are you sure this is a case of bricked defy. I had read in many places it is very difficult to brick defy.
its not bricked
but that is what you need to search for to get the solution
i did so too
What "Natsikap" said.
Clear Data/Cache.
Flash Official Froyo 2.2.2 using RSDLite, Use your region correct Froyo (If you are from India use SEA15 Stock ROM -Get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Motorola_Defy). Everything will be Stock normal. Read everything in the wiki before you flash anything, esp read the "How to get back to Normal in case things go awry" part you will save yourself the High BP!
thanks all for your support.
i have installed the orginal manufactuer android froyo
and flashed it later with cynogenmod 7.1 for defy. The latest stable one that was released yesterday
One more question:
Should I unroot this cynogenmod .. so that I don't mess something.
congratulations
you sorta came from behind and am sorta left behind
question: does the 7.1 have any wifi issues? working properly?
tell me so i can make the jump too
thanks bro
sorry for the late reply..
no it does not have any issues.. at least i could'nt find any.
wifi was working like a charm. used it for around 2 hours ..
Couple of questions..
1) i don't lke the menus flying into the screen. How can i change this animation to the normal fade animation that came with original os.
2)should i unroot my cynogenmod should that i don't cripple it while playing with settings or someother way.
Do not unroot CM7. Make site you make a backup in recovery, that way if you mess something up you can just restore it. As for animations, go to settings> cyanogen settings> display, you should be able to change the animations. If not try spare parts app.
Swyped from my MIUI Defy
i have defy plus.....i havnt rooted it ...its working on original 2.3.6
my phone is starting but power button not working.....when i put it on charing lock screen comes to life but touch not working..
sometimes it remains on moto logo
please help
Hello,
I had to put my phone to repair because it died completely. Today I got my phone back, they replaced the battery and main PCB.
Before the repair I used CM7 on the phone without any problems. I also installed CM7 on another 3 Defys of my friends, so I pretty much know what am I doing.
The problem I have is that if I flash CM7 (any version - 7.1, 7.2RC, nightly) or MIUI, the phone stays in an endless restarting loop. Sometimes it even boots up completely and then restarts again.
The strange thing is that if I flash back the original ROM (jrdnem_u3_3.4.2_179-002) the phone works without any problems.
Do you have any idea what might be wrong or what should I try?

Try wiping data/cache before and after flashing CM/MIUI.
I know its not necessary and u r following the right process. Sometimes these things just do the trick.
I tried that, unfortunately it didn't help. I don't know what can be wrong with the phone. Maybe the overclocking from 800 MHz to 1 GHz causes the problem.
Do you know if I can disable it somehow? Or is there another 2.3 ROM which I could try?
Hey!
It's my first time to customize my redmi note 7.
Before I unlock the bootloader and install pixel rom, I had once an experience that it shutted down when I was playing a video.
Then I unlock the bootloader and install the pixel experience plus based on android 12 rom, at first I was hesitant to do it but then I was amazed when I installed it. I notice that my battery isn't accurate at all because it's too fast to drain. Then another day, I'm planning to play music or video in my device but it shutted down, then keep restarting but isn't booting at all because it was stock on "Redmi based on android" then restart again. I was thinking that it was because of the rom I installed, so I installed another pixel rom which has the same problem occurs. So after searching for the solution, I read one statement that it could be on the rom I installed so I change on the Havoc OS (I tried going back to miui rom but it was sucks, it keeps crashing).
At first it was ok (Havoc OS) but then when I reboot my device it wasn't booting up at all unless I connect it to my charger. (The restarting problem and sound problem still occurs)
P.s. I followed all the instructions and watched how to install it, the clean flashing of roms.
It was my first time, so, I was thinking if it happens in your device too and could possibly give me some troubleshoot to fix it.
Thank you in advance! I hope you'll notice this thread!

Do you have the same issue? First time in customizing rom? Did you follow all steps in clean flash?
