[Q] Folders in Honeycomb? - Xoom General

I know you can create folders for your homescreens in 2.2 but is this something they removed in honeycomb or did they move it?

Does not appear to be an option.

There's no vanilla solution that I'm aware of. You can get a 3rd party app like astro and add a folder shortcut to your home screen in the meantime.

I'm using simi folders. Thought it was a temp solution but now I really like it.

I'm considering adding scrollable "folder" widgets to my shortcut app. QuickCut. I'm releasing a version specifically for Honeycomb tablets soon.

That would be sweet, I'm a prude when it comes to icons all over the desktop, too much clutter.

Circle widget...very nice...

OK I have been using it for two weeks now and I like it better than ADW, Launcher Pro, etc. They are all Launcher2 variants. This is a great home launcher and combined with Nemo it does me well. It has not slowed down for me at all, I'm not sure why it did for you? Could you please post your themed version? I would love to have it on my phone. I wish someone could get the notification bar working! I use SMS and Email Notifications so the bar is not essential for me but would like to see it work because it has advanced features. Please post your themed version, thanks again!
I'd love to try this out. Please post it for the rest of us.

Here is the link to the original post. Give it a shot! I think you will like it. It is definitely not your Launcher2 clone! Remember to use Nemoplayer so that the launchers Music Section will allow you to select your music. It won't select the stock music player!

I don't have time to make a new thread with screenshots,could someone take screenshots of this themed LiquidLauncher and NemoPlayer and make a new thread?
Here is the link for themed Acer Launcher and themed Nemo Player.If ya like it i also have themed TwizLauncher,LauncherPro,SemiTransparent-Blue drawer android theme and many themed apps that i can post.
Link: http://www.4shared.com/file/0_GVgBgR/AcerLauncherNemoPlayer-Themed.html
NOTE:To make AcerLauncher's settings work download WallSwitch from the market and after opening "AcerLiquid's launcher settings" once(it will force close first time) use WallSwitch to change wallpaper,after you do this Acer settings will not fc anymore.I recommend installing both NemoPlayer and Launcher because they are made to work together.Launcher needs to be put in /SYSTEM/APP folder to work.

You can also just go to your gallery and pick an image and set it as your wallpaper then it won't fc from then on. Also if you put the entire Acer wallpapers folder in your \system\media folder then you can select the Acer preset wallpapers in the Acer settings!

Also if you drag your finger on the bottom of the app drawer you can change the work window. The Acer also has a wicked lockscreen that you peel back to unlock your phone but this has not been ported over

Acer and Sony X10 got the best ui's on android and everybody talks about sense and blur.I wish they would get off that htc and motorala sht and get these 2 ui's ported.
How are we supposed to install the launcher? I un zipped the file and when ever I try to install the Acer launcher is says it failed but Nemo player installed.

Forgot to say that launcher needs to go in /system/app folder and you should put NemoPlayer in there too for better performance.

If you use the launcher in the zip file you will have to push it like he said to \system\app. If you use the launcher from the link I provided then you can install it like a regular app.

You need to extract two apk files from a zip and put them in /system/app folder.The reason for that is:after theming alot of apps will only work in /system/app folder and will not install regularly anymore for some reason,if anyone knows why that is I would love to know (and no its not the signature).
Oh and for people that hate all this complicated ADB typing and pushing(i know I do) just download Estrongs File Manager(its free) from the market then go to options menu and turn on "root access" then just copy apk files to /system/app folder,it only takes a minute and you don't even need a pc!

New version of ADW (ADW LAUNCHER EX) looks pretty sweet

Here's an article on AndroidPolice with a 6 minute video demonstrating the new features.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...eleased-transitions-to-a-whole-new-dimension/
This one might finally get me to drop LauncherPro Plus!
Differences between ADW.Launcher and ADWLauncher EX
* 5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
o 3D Nexus One like application drawer
o 2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the "old one" and a new fast and smooth one
o 2 different iPhone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
* Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they’re crazy!!!
* New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
* New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
* Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
* Lots of code improvements
* More, more more to come!!
Played around with it while some features are cool it still lags. Im going to stay with launcher pro.

That's the biggest reason I switched to LPP from adw. It wasn't a problem with the features, its just not as fast and smooth as LPP.
Sent from my cm6.1 Aria using XDA App
I didn't find any lag with this new version... but I'm still sticking with LauncherPro Plus because the widget resize feature works better and because the LPP widgets are so nice.
I didn't mind paying the $3.50 for ADW just to contribute to a developer who has put so much into his work and it's all been free until now. Plus, this way I'll get automatic ADW updates and maybe eventually it will add the features I want.
Has anyone figured out how to hide app labels in the drawer? I hope he doesn't leave out that feature in this version.

What are you guys smokin? There is no posted app in this thread. I posted a link to the article on AndroidPolice... I even said I didn't mind paying for the effort of the developer, why would I then post a copy so everyone else doesn't have to?!

Can anyone know some useful/good widgets for the Xoom? Or how to make the Gmail/Browser favs bigger? Hate how it's so bunched up. Maybe I'm just stupid and missing something. >_<

I agree with you on the bookmarks widget. I wish I could place it in list mode. When in the browser, you can switch the bookmarks to list mode which makes it much easier to find things when you have many folders. The widget does not seem to have any options.
Use launcher pro, it can make the Widgets expandable.

[Q] What is this and where can I get it???

Wow.....

Why is my HD2 not this cool???
definitely interested in knowing!
...looks really amazing. Would like to try this new UI too. But didn't find any information over it, what launcher this could be.
Hope someone can enlighten us very soon
I'm guessing it's a combination of stuff, and not actually made into a rom.
For example, https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture&feature=search_result and https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nanoha.MyLockScreen_free
This 3d efffect he uses in his video you can get if you use "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper" as already posted in combination with e.g launcher pro.
in multipicture live wallpaper you have to use:
- transition type: 3D Rotation
in lauchner pro:
- preferences->homescreen settings->transition effect: Flip2
also ensure, that you have:
- preferences->Appearance settings->Disable wallpaper scrolling: unchecked
For users that want to use their device in landscape only this is a very nice combination..in portrait it looks very awful in my opinion
WOW

Haha that's 100% correct, you xda guys sure are on the ball!! ..except I used AWD EX launcher the task bar at the bottom/ swipe hiding was built into CM7, btw do you guys know how to get an "app organizer" that organizes in categories IN the actual app scrolling menu? That's the last bit of my 100% customization missing

I think the closest you'll get to actual app drawer organizing would be to sort the apps in groups on ADW launcher. It has the option to create and edit groups in the app drawer, and choose which one to view. I've never seen anything that allows you to put your apps into folders within the app drawer, which has never made sense to me since it would be so much more convenient. Thats the one thing that WM still has over Android imo.
wow, very nice that

I am absolutely baffled that my Samsung Epic does this out of the box, but my friggen tab needs an app to do it.
