I already have a Google Voice account, but just received a couple of new invites on other e-mails that I had signed up a while back. I obviously don't need three GV accounts so I'll be giving one out for free via a random name drawing for any that show interest. I think I've got the other one going to someone, but if not, I'll be giving out both of them.
If you're interested, just leave a quick reply to this post on PPCGeeks and I'll follow up soon with further details as to who is the lucky recipient.

I'm pretty sure if you have a 2.1 ROM, you can just download the Google Voice app and that will get you in... I'm running SushiROM 2.02 and it worked for me.
you can sign up online and automatically get accepted if you have a gmail account and an android phone i believe. I never needed an invite.

I did, but it says my gmail is not hooked up to google voice, and when I try to go to google voice, it asks me to apply for an invite. I did that like a year ago, and never received one.
You get a free Google voice invite by purchasing a nexus one. Use a computer and log into your account that you setup with your nexus, and you can pick your voice number.
I purchased my nexus one with my Gmail account and it still says I have to wait for an invite.
Invitations Left
Sometimes the invite comes and people delete them or they end up in weird places.
I will offer up one of my 10 remaining invites.
Once I get your private message, I will submit the invite.
Thank you,
Adam Stafford
Let me know
Let me know if you need one.
Just wondering, isn't Google Voice US only?
I am an American. I am on vacation right now.

Google Voice Invites have been used
Hi all,
Wow that was alot of responses so fast. The originator of the post and a few others got personal invites and the rest have been submitted for an invite from Google.
Good luck to the rest of you, check your PM from me to see what was the status of your invites.
Either: Personal invite or Invite on your behalf.
Thanks.
One more thing if you would like to visit the Google Voice Invite and sign up for yourself please log into your GMail account first then visit http://bit.ly/GV-Invite
Not sure if this makes a difference but I want to make sure Google knows you already have a account associated when you submit the request.
I received an invite long time ago but it is useless for me since im not in united states
Google Voice for ALL!!
Get Google Voice now! [Open for Everyone!]
Thanks for the clarification Google, "Everyone in the US to try!"
As some of you know, you can now place FREE calls to anywhere in the US or Canada using GMail and the "voice and video chat plugin". You can also receive calls from within GMail if you have a GoogleVoice account and you set it up to forward GoogleVoice calls to "Google Chat" as well as your phone(s).
This is awesome! I can now answer calls from GMail instead of my phone. I wish the desktop GoogleTalk app did that so I wouldn't have to always keep a webbrowser page open to GMail, but that is not what this post is about...
I got to thinking: if GMail can place and receive free phone calls, why can't I do that on my phone (or any device with internet)? I downloaded every available webbrowser for Android and tried to surf to GMail, but none of them even loaded the page (???), much less the plugin.
While searching for any possible solution, I learned that the required "voice and video chat plugin" is available for Linux. This fact makes me almost positive that it is somehow possible for someone to develop an Android app that loads that plugin, logs in to GMail (spoofing a desktop browser), and displays the Pop-out dial pad capable of placing and receiving free calls!
Is anyone up to the challenge? This is huge people! FREE phone where ever there is internet. I hope someone can make this happen on Android devices, since it already works perfect on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
EDIT: Lots of info in the SIPdroid thread I found after posting this, but it still would be nice to just make an XMPPdroid app and not have to deal with connecting Jabber to SIP. If my linux PC can make free Google VOIP calls without setting up additional SIP and PBXes accounts, then my Android phone should be able to too.
Great idea! Im sure others are working on it. Im all for free calling wherever there is internet. Not sure if the cell phone carriers ate gonna like it.

I've thought the same, currently I'm using SipDroid>pbxes>sipsorcery>sipgate>GV. Anything a bit simpler would be great. Plus when i try to hook up a friend, at least one of those sites aren't open to the public;gizmo is a simpler setup, hasnt been open since google bought it and has been sitting on it ever since. If I find anything I'll post here
this would be really nice. cell carriers are already ripping us off unnecessarily. this would give us some ways out
PBXes added support for the gtalk trunk recently and their latest sipdroid application can even set that all up for you today. In the end you'll have sipdroid->pbxes->gtalk with direct dialing.
I've been using it for a week or so now and it works better than any other solution I've tried, except for a sipdroid/android bug where a bluetooth disconnect causes the phone to reboot.
Has anyone been able to do video chat via Google's Chat? I seem unable to do so, and I cannot find Talk in the Market ...although I don't know if it would support video on this tablet or not.

Used it earlier today to talk with my brother in mexico, it worked exceedingly well.
iirc, it comes already installed.
Its a native google app, not a market app.
I couldnt get it to work intially but it turns out its tied to my google apps account for some reason. Once i signed out of the apps account and signed in with a regular gmail account it worked beautifully chatting with my girlfriend over 4g tethering on my Evo. I cant wait until someone gets 2.3.4 working on the Evo so we can have the android phone/chat functionality.
i've used it chatting with my wife, works well.
Argh...I thought I looked for Talk on it and didn't find it, but alas, it is there. ( I had to install it from market on my phone, so assumed I had to do the same thing here).
Sounds good. I presume this does work with Google Chat...so if someone is on their PC and Browser (not signed into Talk) it would work. Seems to me like at some point I had to join a Talk account with Google.
Thanks folks.
for tablet to pc video chat, the person on the pc needs to be in the browser (like a gmail window) and have the video plugin installed.
I use it with my Google Apps account no problem.
The sound quality from the other side isn't great... I don't know if Talk is crap, the other computer is crap, or the speakers on the TF are crap...
Nice to have video chat though, I just wish Samsung would release 2.3.4 for Galaxy S II

I was experimenting with this earlier today with a coworker that has an iphone 4g. I think vtok nuked some of the video quality but it worked.
