I did manual install of 2.2 EB13. Downloaded the update.zip directly from the Samsung website. While I was on EB13, I ran calibration on the accelerometer. After I found that EB13 was now being pulled, I used Odin3 to get back to stock 2.1 DG27. Started having issues with the screen not rotating automatically when turning the phone. It would only switch if I pulled the keyboard out and it would get stuck in that orientation after putting away the keyboard. The only way to get it back to the correct orientation is to go home.Tried the Android Terminal method to manually calibrate it but didn't work.
The phone is now unable to update automatically to OTA DI07 and DI18. I have used Odin to get back to DK27 before and the phone would automatically download the OTA updates. I am currently manually updating to these versions using Odin and the .tar files. Odin does not format the calibration of the accelerometer. There might be other things as well that Odin cannot get to and I think is affecting OTA updating.
Did you try the upside down horizontal calibration method? Worked great for me and quite a few others. I'd link it but I'm on my phone.

Might have to go back to EB13 using the Samsung exe method which will fully wipe your phone. I have been using EB13 perfectly with the only real issues with the video cam lag in low light (important to me) and the FC in sport mode on the still camera (not as important to me since I never use that mode).
Once you are on di18 again, do the sensorcaliblutil_yamaha tool in terminal again. Make sure you type su first. Let me know how it goes.
would odin do the same? fully wipe phone

Odin is what the factory uses to install the software. It does eight phones at a time.

I'm pretty sure my accelerometer failed. I have performed the high and low level calibration(s) suggested in various places. The x and y axes appear to function within spec, however, the z-axis will not "tilt down", in other words, will not take on a negative value from vertical. This renders any augmented reality/live mapping software unusable. I have root and ext4 fs and clockwork 3.0.0.6 and have flashed the latest genocide kernel .03a. Everything is working great aside from this issue and a long delay with home screen icons refreshing upon exiting a program and opening or closing the physical keyboard. Application icons can take 10 seconds to appear. This can be resolved by repeatedly opening and closing the keyboard until it refreshes quickly.
I'm just about ready to use the samsung .exe to go back to stock eb13 and return the phone. Any last minute suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Why would you go back to DG27?

I finally got my epic to update both the firmware and modem to DI18. Along the way I installed clockworkmod rom manager, busy box, and had to re-root. Now my phone's power button will not put the phone to sleep unless the phone is on the lock screen. Can anyone tell me what may have happened and how I could fix it? Thanks.
My market died too. I don't understand where all these issues are coming from because I am running stock rooted.
I did a restore and narrowed it down to the full DI18 update wrecking it. But now i'm back with DG17 firmware and DI18 Radio...
Fixed.
this USE Clockworkmod
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/noobnl/stock.epic.DI07.rom.update.build2.zip
Then use odin and this file in the phone portion.
http://firon.net/xda/stock.di18.modem.update.signed.zip
Then this USE Clockworkmod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=411346&d=1285952128
Be patient, it got stuck at the Galaxy S screen for 5 minutes.
Then you have to re-root.
And now I'm fully updated with my market and sleep button working.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO MAKE OTA WORK AGAIN? My phone keeps reporting there are no updates, even when I was at DG07.
trying to update my T959 to JI6, i updated it via kies, everything seemed to go fine, but it just sat on a black screen with the 4 soft buttons lit up... so i recovery'd it and updated it with odin, to the ji6, and same symptom, i updated it probably 30 minutes ago and it's still sitting on a blank screen with only the 4 soft buttons lit up... any help?
anybody? i need to get this running.
The chances of you being able to get back up and running through recovery are pretty much zero. You need to use Odin.
Had you done any mods to the stock ROM like laxfix or MobileAP?
i figured it out, i had to flash it back stock with repartition, i think the problem was the rom was modded or lagfix run or something, i bought the phone used and did not know the history, i am back up and running now,
however unfornatly i list everything.
thanks though
try updating thru odin again but use the JI5 stock software
I updated to EB13 from DI18 originally using ODIN and the eb13.tar. Things were fine, no real bugs except the known video camera bug and screen lag. I was able to fix the screen lag once I rooted and ran the sensorcalibutil_yamaha scrpit. My TWS was only 2% and had no 3G data problems whatsoever.
Recently I decided to try out the deodexed rom from the dev section, but when I started it up I kept getting the "buz...buzz-buzz-buzz" over and over. I though I must have done something wrong, so I formatted my sd card, wiped my phone, cache and dalvik cache. I then used ODIN to re-install the eb13.tar and I re-rooted using oneclick root.
This time around, I now have 55% TWS in the same location as before and 3G data drops like crazy. Also for some reason the market app won't update itself to the new version and is stuck on the original, old style. Also interestingly, on this flash I had zero lag problems and my compass and gps work flawlessly.
I'm not sure what is going on or why this would happen, anybody else experience something like this??? I am worried because I have a phone interview in the morning and can't afford signal drops when I have full coverage. I am going to re-do the whole process and hope that fixes it
I odin'd two times trying to fix this again, no dice. I never should have messed with things because all was good until I started messing about.
Found a solution for now though, I Odin'd back to DI18 and am calling it a night. I can't afford a spotty data connection for my interview in the morning. I'll report back once I start tinkering again
Odin to DI18 and don't do anything. Just turn off your phone.
Copy the EB13 update.zip to the memory card and delete your "Android" folder as well as any app specific folders for cache or whatever.
Put in your memory card and boot into recovery. Flash the update.zip and reboot.
Once the phone is on you can use the OneClickRoot 2.5.5 to get root and recovery.
I still get the TWS problem but airplane mode fixes that.

thanks, tried this but it didn't correct any of the problems. My market refuses to update to the new version for some reason. When I Odin'd back to DI18, the market ap updated itself on the second launch, no problem.
As far as TWS goes, the issue is still persisting. I did notice that if you are using the data connection for something like shoutcast radio (internet radio) there is no drop at all, and the signal is almost boosted. But if you aren't actively using the connection it drops, connects, drops, connects, over and over. It is absolutely killing my battery life.
Edit: Fixed the market update problem by clearing market cache and data. Now if we can find a fix for the camera lag and TWS problem, I will be a happy camper
One more question, im not to sure of this program ODIN, but i remember i did a factory reset to get my GPS working a few weeks ago. I followed this post
""Fixing the GPS no fix issue on the Samsung Epic 4g requires you to do a manufacturer's reset by obtaining the MSL code from Sprint. Once you get the MSL Code, remove the SD Card and Enter ##786# on the dialer keypad. You will see two options: View and Reset. Tap on the Reset option and you will get a prompt to enter the MSL code. At this point you will be asked if you want to do a manufacter's reset, enter yes. The phone will shut down and reset itself after a few seconds. Once the process is complete, the phone will go through a hands free activation. After the activation process, updates may be downloaded and installed. Now that all updates have been performed, you may check to see if your GPS is working by going to Google Maps. You should be able to lock in GPS signal in under 10 seconds. Thats it. Your GPS woes are over."
After i did that and got a GPS lock, i went to CWM and did a ADVANCED data restore, and i back on DK28 and had GPS lock when i went into maps. COuldnt i jsut do the same factory reset, then open up CWM, flash the DEOXED eb13, and then do a advanced data restore??
Major question would be if i did ADVANCE, would it bring me back to DK28, or would i just do a DATA restore.
I really was hoping there would be a easier way to go from Dk28 to EB13, but this way seems alittle easier then ODIN.
Flashing the DK28 rom will NOT update the modem to EB13. Use Odin or samsung updater program. Both are very easy, just follow instructions.
Well to answer my own question, it says it does a MASTER RESET, but it DOES NOT!!! I ended up resetting my phone without my data but still am on DK28 with the ROM i flashed. And to make matters worse, somehow i ended up wiping all the data off my SD Card in the process, not sure how, Good thing i copied all my info to my laptop earlier today. I am now putting everythign back aswell as the DEOXED EB13 rom which im going to try and FLAsh the zip via CWM. worse case scenario i just advance rstore back to my CW backup from today and its like i didnt do any of this. ugg
If you are trying to get back to Stock (not rooted) just use the Samsung tool for EB13.
As far as going back to DI18 2.1, you will be better off with EB13 flashed, not the update.
im trying to go back to DK18 and stay rooted, to update to EB13.

Why not just use the samsung update tool, then use CWM 2.5.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770388
to root it. You will get a clean install (recommended) and root.
ok, so i actually was able to FLASH the DEOXED version of FROYO EB13 ontop of my DK28 , dont ask me how, it told me it didnt work, but it did. Now i tried to CWM my data and its saying its a non match. THis is not making me happy. I heard people had probs with this, any way to fix it??
Edit, i actually accidently swapped SD cards when i was copying and pasting and when i replace it with the correct card, i had no problems doing a FULL DATA restore.
I KNOW HAVE SUPERNOVA 2.2.2 EB13 Kernal version 2.6.32.9 running Firmware GENOCIDE 0.3a EB13 OC/UV kernal
Its KICKASS!!
I would odin to stock eb13 and if you really want everything to work try ACS FROZEN rom. Ive never been so happy with my device it ALL works
finally upgraded from DI01 to ED01 and have discovered a problem. the 4 buttons on the bottom of the screen now act weird. they will light up, go out, or flicker depending on what im doing. never had this problem before and i havent seen anyone else post about it but i could have missed it. anyone have any idea?
Did you update stock di01 to stock ed01 or between custom roms?

no, i tried the OTA update several times with the end result being the server IP error. unrooted and tried again several times with the same results. then i followed the link in another post and flashed with odin, the DL09. tried again several times to get the OTA update with no success. had to flash that several times and then finally got it to install. as it sits i am running ED01 stock but rooted. my wifes phone had had all the OTA updates and has always run stock, not even root and has some problems with the buttons as well.
try reflashing a kernel... i only dealt with that problem once a while back and i just reflashed everything and that seemed to fix it.
Also i used to restore system files from titanium backup and sometimes it didn't play nice with whatever i upgraded to and that would cause the backlights to bug out before i got force close messages.
