Hey, just happened to be browsing Phandroid and saw an article that the Market version of Flash should NOT be installed on the Atrix because it's not optimized for Tegra 2 and the preinstalled version on the phone is... of course, that was on the list of things downloaded on day 1 not realizing that Flash was apparently already on the phone. Should I uninstall the market app? And if I do, will that restore the phone to the built in "optimized" version... or will i lose Flash all together. Currently Flash works on the phone. (I verified that the Market version of Flash does indeed have a message on the "What's new" tab stating it shouldn't be installed on the Atrix)
My friend did this day one too. He fixed it by factory reset. now he gets 60fps flash on many websites... I'm seething with jealousy. (Atrix in the mail)
This is quite interesting, i don't remember installing flash from the market on my phone, but when i search for it, it says it's already installed. I'm doing a factory reset now to see if flash is on there to begin with or if i did infact install it from the market once
Damn. When I got my Atrix I installed all my apps through the Android Market from my PC...including Flash(apparently?). Don't want to do a factory reset so I'll just wait for a fix.

Let us know what version comes preloaded on the phone
I finished my factory reset.
Under "my apps" in the market, flash is not listed. However, if i search for flash in the market it says installed.
I'm an android newb and I hate flash so I know that I did not install it. However, it is IS installed on the phone: version 10.1.120.10.
It doesn't show up with the rest of the programs though. You have to go:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Flash
Do we know if there's an easy way to roll back to that version?
I do believe that if you installed the flash from the market you may be able to use uninstall updates from the manage applications menu.
Not sure though.
Just looked it up on the market and found this in the description:
It SHOULD NOT be installed on devices/tablets with the NVIDIA Tegra 2 super chip including the LG Optimus 2X, Dell Streak 7 and Motorola ATRIX. The pre-installed version of Flash Player is optimized for Tegra 2. Future updates will include these optimizations.

I believe I may be in the same boat as those who have the version from the market... would be much appreciated if anyone has a method for restoring the original version that was installed with the phone.
Did a bit of searching and it seems the Tegra 2 version has been leaked. The version available in the market is 10.1.106.16. The Tegra 2 version should be 10.1.120.10. I've downloaded the leaked Tegra 2 version from the link provided below and tested it out. As far as I can tell, it runs as it should. I'd still like to get the version originally included with the phone if possible, but the leaked version may be a decent alternative for the time being.

As warned on the site: Use at your own risk.
I have the Tegra version 10.1.120.10 installed and I don't even can install the market version because it says it is already installed. So where is the problem?
Has anyone tried uninstalling the market version to see what happens?
I removed the update, and now I have no flash...
Well, you can download the market version or download the leaked tegra 2 version I posted above. I haven't had any issues with the leaked version for the tegra 2 so I don't think it's anything to worry about. Definitely going to download the market version again when they release the version built for the tegra 2 though.
I just uninstalled the market version...which totally removed flash from my phone... I then installed the Tegra 2 version from the link above... worked smoothly, no problems (as far as i know!)

Hi all,
We have a new firmware, 2.3.20
I think it's enough to write
Regards.
Damn, and I just switched over to UrukDroid. What am I supposed to do now?

switch back to stock or wait until urukdroid devs merged the changes into urukdroid
Some tests with the new firmware should be done.
Can it be downgraded back to 2.1.08?
Is archangel working?
Anybody volunteer to being the Guinea pig?
Because they have changed the format of the Medialibrary, they prevent the downgrade.
Wifi channels above 10 are not working atm.
Otherwiese it feels better.
It looks smoother than before. And I had somr problems with some piano apps before there was no voice with some of them. But now all of them working. I don't know it's related with fw though
On my archos 101 the browser is now much smooter and multi touch zooming is better and everithing is lot faster even some games aren't so laggy.

Apparently Archangel does not work anymore.
Holy **** archangle wont work any more (thats true). What now? Will there be uptate for archangle.

a) if Archos really closed the leak which archangel was using to gain root privileges, they have to find another leak and you have to wait until they found it
b) you have to use the SDE root method (which will be available as soon as I get my A101IT back from Archos)
c) life without root privileges
I installed 2.3.02, but the downgrade doesn't work (the update is too old...).
Is there an other possibility to downgrade?
No, no downgrade possible.
Does upgrading to newer fw clears/deletes my current files? Im still using 2.0.71 fw.

Nope it won't delete your files
Is this actually still 2.2, despite the release #?
Also, anyone else out there use Move2SD enabler (root) and then do this upgrade? I am a little nervous what will happen with those apps that were previously moved to SD in this non-standard way.
Thanks,

Archos release numbers have nothing to do with what version of Android that is being run.
There is no root in this firmware yet so Move2SD will not work. The regular apps2sd that is built in to Froyo will work though.
Thanks for the quick response.
I still am unclear what will happen with the apps that I already moved prior to the upgrade.

They won't work. At least that is my guess as I have never used that program before.
Is it worth it though?? Your thoughts....
Ok, I have my A101IT rooted via Chulri's way and it's running smooth n' sweet but I have a question about this apparent new updated Firmware Version 2.3.02? Am I correct to have understood that ..."there was a leak but the leak is currently non-existent and you can't get the new 2.3.02 Firmware any more"? If not, where can you get it... (I.E. - Posting a link to it)?
Also, with those of you who have tested this new Firmware 2.3.02 and/or are currently using it on their Archos 70/101IT tablet (granted it's possible to install right now)... is it worth updating to AND other than "not being able to downgrade because of the Media Library issue are there any other reported issues or areas of concern? How about any advantages over Froyo 2.1.08 WITH full Root Access (which is what I currently have)? Would there be any improvements in things such as Overclocking speed and lag issues with this new 2.3.02??
OK that's my first post here,
I had urukdroid 0.7 installed. I restarted in android mode and downloaded the AOS FILE, then restarted an proceeded with the upgrae. I dont have the root rights anymore but can choose to start in android mode (2.3.02) or in developer mode (urukdroid) 2.1.8 , I can remote control the Archos 101 from my Samsung Galaxy S iin android mode not in Urukdroid. The bootloader is 4.04.000000. I hope it helps.
The other problem is that I had to dislable the screen autosleep as it doesn't wake up anymore in android mode (That's not the case in developer Urukdroid mode).
PS: I still have the root rights in Urukdroid (developer mode), I had to clean the Titanium backup cache as it didn't showed anymore the applications.
Just got the A500. Runs great, pulled 3 updates to get to 3.2. Just a curious question about the market? It looks like a older version. There is no music. Does the tablet not support Google music yet? or is there an apk out there to update the market?
Thanks

Depends. What version is your market?
The newest version, 3.3.11 I believe, really isn't fully supported for HC if I remember correctly, but seems to work ok. If I'm wrong, please, somebody correct me.
The bad thing, is that you upgraded to HC 3.2. Which means it'll be a pain in the keister (but not impossible) to root and install it properly. Better off to wait for an official version to become available.
I usually install mine manually, but I'm rooted and can do that.
Thank you. Explains much.
New to the whole tablet thing, picked up my acer 2 days ago, figured i'd get accustomed to 3.2 before i flashed anything, picked it up pretty quick since 4.0 pulled alot from 3.0. Figured i'd stop in say hello!
It may be a "noobish" question but was curious if any devs planned on porting CM9 or possibly miui 4.0 over to the a500? seeing as these roms will be based off 4.0 it "should" work on both smartphones and tablets alike. Just a thought.
There are already at least two ICS ports in progress, one of which you'll find in the Development section. Go take a look, there's an alpha you can download to try if you want.
You'll need to be rooted and have CWM installed first. The A500 does NOT use the generic CWM, you need the one available here.
Oh, and welcome.
yah already got that, sounded more complicated then it was, hell of a method though i might add. on my sgs i skip the rooting, by just applying cwr with an update.zip then flashing a rooted rom. well i may look into a cm9/miui port after we get official ics. would be easier if i had the tabs drivers all bundled up in a pretty package for me. I don't know we'll see the last time i cooked and played Dev was windows Mobile 5x (i've been on xda awhile lol)
but it brings me to the question would CM9/miui actually be wanted on this device?
i've read a few articles stating that acer is looking to push ics early 2012, has acer been reasonably fast with there prior updates? i'm enjoying the 3.0 ui but it seems as far as skinning and themes goes the OS leaves a bit to be desired when compared to it's phone variant.
Support and follow up from Acer is a case of mixed emotion, like when your mother-in-law drives off a cliff in your new car.
Once they come out with an update, usually after the "expected" date, the stock rom is pretty solid. It is also crammed full of bloatware, and, of course, difficult if not possible to root.
Thank goodness for all the developers here who find a way around it. I would play with what you have, and once you find out its shortcomings, try some of the great roms you will find here. There is no "best" rom until you find the one that does what you want and you can deal with its personality.
I would suggest getting Root Explorer from the market because you can take a given rom and remove what you want. Once you have that, do a backup with CWM and then you always have a restore point.
Welcome to the forum. This is a great tablet in spite of Acer.
yah already have a root explorer, i use Es file explorer, never failed me yet in terms of root access, editing, and deleting or even pushing files into system area's.
so Acer can be a alil slow on updates? I guess thats to be expected most hardware companies seem to take there time on pushing updates out. Yah i noticed the rooting process was alil ass backwards considering my iconia came with 3.2.1 stock out of the box and then i had to revert back to 3.0.1 lol. I'm keeping my rom pretty stock. i mainly just wanted root access to remove bloat and unwanted programs.
also curious here why on earth is Market pulling from 2 different programs?
I have both Vending.apk and finsky.apk both of which appear to be market.
anyway to get a newer version of market installed? I tried pulling the 3.3.11 from Thor's rom but installing .apk's lead to FCing even with proper permissions.

You can try the new market.apk in the attachments on the OP of this thread. It works with stock based 3.2 ROMs.

Hi, the reason i ask is because when i sideload apps from my n7 to my xperia play, they install fine. When i try to do it to my brothers phone (its not the best of phones tbh) it always says app not installed.
So i just wondered what the reason could be? And could this be overcome by rooting and manually installing it?
Thanks
Not yet. Android Jelly Bean 4.2 will though. Read about it on google.
I mean check hardware specs ect, not the actual app for malware
I know this is a bit off topic.. But some apps will soon be verified by your device id. This is the same id that google wallet uses. It will make it so when you but a app on one device you can NOT install it on another.Ti Backup already has a built in way to help with this during back up restore.
The above is only from what i have read and is likely not totally true as its not implemented yet so who really knows .

It's because the phone is not compatible with what you are trying to install (either in hardware or minimum Android OS version).
Is the app you are trying to install offered to the phone on the official Google marketplace? If not, then there is a reason why.....

Nope, its not offered, but sometimes they can work when not offered.
I was just wondering if that was simply the reason, or if the apps generally cant install on a phone without specific specs, i.e android version X or multitouch
Thanks for the answer
i forgot about this.. I have used aptoide to side load a few apps that i know work on nexus 7 but in the play store show not compatible..This is not meant to Pirate apps.. I used this to install a messenger app that would not install and a few games that i have purchased...
I am running the last nightly (10.1 20130810) of Keshemme's that is available on the Goo website. I understand that he has released a new ROM and it is on CyanogenMod's website. I created a log in on Cyanogenmod's website and it tells me to "Please login to your device using your CyanogenMod Account to register it." I'm not sure how to do this?
Keshemme also said it is available using OTA updater. I have tried this on the K1 under: Settings - About tablet - Cyanogen Updates It does not find any updates available. Help? I must be really dense as I can't figure this one out.
Thanks,

I went to the play store and found OTA Updater. When I tried to load it I found it was already on my tablet. I don't remember loading it, so I'm not sure if it was part of the previous ROMs loaded on my machine or if I just don't recall adding it as an app. Anyway, I ran the OTA updater and it found Keshemme's latest ROM. I copied it to my SDcard and used recovery to install it.
Hope this helps somebody else.
Thanks,
Lamar
The latest K1 works great!
Now that I have the new ROM installed my tablet is running great. The last two nightly ROMs I had used caused me problems with typing. There would be a delay when you would click on a field before the keyboard would pop up. Then another delay after I would type a character or two. The latest ROM has fixed that issue for me. Thanks, Keshemme for all your hard work and keeping the K1 a great tablet.
