My Nexus One will not update to Ginger bread , Why ? - Nexus One General

OK I have stock Nexus one with FRG83D, I downloaded Gingerbread from here at XDA, I tried to install it but it failed, I found a link on how some people were having issues and it took me to a link where I had to back track to FRG33 then FRG83 the to FRG83D where I am at now, did all that everything worked great but now I still get the same error when trying to install Gingerbread, any suggestions ?
thank you

You need to be on FRG83G. Apply this update then try GB again.

That did the trick installing as I type this, thank you very much.

Do you have the last version of HBOOT (hboot-0.35.0017)?
If not, download it from:
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/passion/d6096cac5e9f.signed-hboot-0.35.0017.zip
install it as a rom (remember to rename it to "update.zip") and then install 2.3.3.
Enjoy!

FYI, this was a question. It should have been posted in the Q & A section. I can't believe how many people don't read rules.

Has Anyone "ROOTED" the HD2 yet?????

I need to learn how to root my device so that i can use apps like "reset phone" without removing the battery or holding the end key down
quick answer, yes
dan's RC1 and maybe darkstone's froyo are both rooted.
Also, look through the main dev thread probably in the first 4 posts because someones posted patched files for rooting all current versions for HD2

Thank sir, I just gone through those steps and feel complicated for me.
Not so confidence how to do it.
However, thank for quick reply and support since the breakdown question.
Cheers!
If you need a step by step guide as to how to install WildPuzzle (Or any Custom ROM for that matter), you can refer this very detailed guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
If, after reading that, you still cant do it, I guess you are better off sticking to the stock ROM and HTC Supplied updates.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the tips, I'll do more googling before I start to do so. Too early to say better off my friend, cos just start up, will learn and will try to do.
Cheers,
I just read your first post, and, if you have updated to official 2.2.1, there's nothing you can do anymore, because, you can't root your phone anymore till Unrevoked is updated.
Hard Luck
Oh...anyways, thanks for your information. I stick around the forum, to see what more can I do.
You all got my respect!
Cheers,

Need help going back to complete stock ROM

I apologize for this thread as Im sure this has been answered before, just can't find it. A while ago I had backed up my stock rom so I could try custom ROM's. Unfortunately just before flashing one I accidentally did a format on my microSD card with the backup of the stock ROM that came on my a500 so it got blown away . I have downloaded stock roms in the Development threads but there is a large list of different ones. I basically want to get the original ROM that came with my tablet so I can use OTA again. The stock ROMS I have tried keep saying "Poor network coverage ...." when I try to check for an OTA update. Also I live in the USA is there a region specific ROM that I need to get to ensure GPS works properly? Seems that none of the ROMS I have tried can get a lock on my location even if the prop file shows "US" Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the Rom
that will work for you but no placeto upload it.there is a download link to it as well in Acer recovery installer.

Son of a .... lol. Thank you. Im gonna purchase a license for Acer Recovery Installer I'll try that first. Thank you
UPDATE: I got a stock rom and appears fully restored thank you. Quick question though. There are about 4 or 5 different stock rom builds. Does it matter which one to use? Or should I get the highest version numbered one?
I'd also like to know, which rom did you get? Link and your steps please. It'd really help me out.

I have nothing to add. But this thread got funny.
that that issue im also want to ask!
i allready download the stock rom at the link stok rom above, but my thor kernel is still eksist or if i press the power button and the volume the system reboot into a thor kernel. how can i get the kernel just like an original rom?
thank's
Your kernel should be stock. But what you're describing sounds like the recovery which is Thor's Clockwork. That should be the one you want if you want to keep flashing different ROM's and/or Kernels.
The way I got my tab back to completely stock is in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231005

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.4+ suggestions?!

Sorry for hanging out in the Fascinate section, As i am loyal to my I4G... But i have to get my 10 posts before i can post to dev sections regarding my phone and rom... So anyway im gonna flash rom on my brothers fascinate and would like opinions on reliable, stable, Gingerbread 2.3.4+ based rom. Thanks for your understanding.
I am running yesterdays CM7 Nightly (63) with the latest Glitch Kernel and it's hands down the best android experience I've had to date.
Can you provide me with links to a step by step process for this "experience" Please! Thanks you Rudacris

Scroll down to "First time flashing CM 7 to your Fascinate (or coming from another ROM)?" and follow the instructions there.
When you get to step three download the files below
ROM- Download the latest nightly here.
I'm running 63, but I doubt there are many major differences with 64.
Kernel - Latest Glitch Kernel. I'm using the V12 Beta, Medium Voltage
Then follow the rest of the instructions.
I think your quick fuse and assumptions have led us down a path i dont want to go down, i sent you a fried request because I felt like a jack ass? I also corrected the post where i call myself a noob and inflected with italics and underline showing I AM A noob! So can you help me? Thanks for your patience as i am a noob!
EDIT: i think our posts are crossing paths, Ill leave it as Im sorry, and I accept your appologies droidstyle. I am here to learn and have monitored this site regularly, while only recently needing to post in the dev section of my I4G for bug issues, i needed 10 posts to do so... And I learned how to flash my brothers fascinate at the same time! Thanks for your help everyone, and droidstyle is on my "im not mad with" list

thanks you very much!!!!! You rock~
here is a great guide for installing any mtd based gingerbread rom such as cm7,miui, aosp, vgb. The title states its for vanilla gingerbread but it works for any of those roms, just replace vgb v6 with the cm7 nightly build of your choice. The links rudacris posted are spot on also.

when you have a stock kernel it deletes the cwm after reboot.
Follow steps in droidstyles instructions.
sum it up:
Download latest cm7 put it on your sd card
Odin CWM located in post for CM7, on first powerup three finger boot
delete data and cache then go advanced delete dalvik cache
then flash Zip from SD card. when that is done Boom reboot and welcome to CM7

As it is more of device-specific question asking in the HD Mini General section would have been a fine solution. You'll get more feedbacks from there.
EDIT: And also, that's not a dumb rule, and its kept for a reason. You should follow that. And about your query, gapps shall be flashed from CWM recovery to get Android Market/Talk etc. on your device

Newest version of Google apps is given in the OP of this Dev Thread. Anyways if you've already flashed the Gapps from wiki, then don't bother.
