For those of you stupid enough to root your xoom (yea i did too), what apps have you deleted? Keep in mind there is no going back if you screw something up.
Things i have deleted safely.
Cordy
Dungeon Defenders
StringrayProgramMenu
StingrayProgramMenuSystem
StingrayQuickOffice
I got rid of the stock e-mail app. Something about having that app in my app drawer despite NEVER using it always drove me crazy on my OG Droid, so after flashing a ROM it was always my first thing to delete. (I'm talking the e-mail app, not the gmail app)
EmailGoogle.apk it is, although I only renamed the file extension w/Root Explorer, didn't actually delete it yet. Going to wait for a full recovery option before going that route
NEVER delete an app from the system folder without a backup. OTA updates check for these files before they run, and they will not complete without them, no matter how stupid the app.
Instead rename the app by adding an extension such as program.apk.no and android will ignore it. It's really dumb to delete things forever.
You can also pull the apps to your computer using adb first.

Exactly what I did!
EmailGoogle.apk ---> EmailGoogle.apk.bak
App gone, but file there for later

Anyone?

You can't. Also, if you put apps into folders, they will mysteriously move outside again after while, so don't even bother. Maybe they fix this some day.

Samsung was a bit shortsighted on that one and didn't build something like that in their launcher. My workaround for this is the following procedure: go into edit mode, grab the folder you want to edit to a new empty page and than delete the folder. The apps in it will populate the new page and you can re-add them to a new folder in your desired order, than re-add the new folder. If you want a more convient way for this try GO Launcher EX from market. It handles folders much more user friendly. As a note: You'll not be able to use any of samsungs widgets with any of the alternative launchers though.

I never have had something like that happening. Did you uninstall/install an app? In that case it looses its place in the folders.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Yea it sucks that we have to use such a long proceduren.. I quite like to organise apps in folders..

So just now gallary and videos app stopped finding files on my sd card but when I use a file explorer everything is there? I tried uninstalling and installing the gallary app again but that didn't help. Has anyone ever had this issue? I'm trying to dogde reflashing my rom... it seems the problem is media scanner doesn't run because when I rebooted my phone it didn't show up at first like it always does.

Try using an app like QuickPic and see if they show up. If they don't, make sure the folders containing you media aren't hidden (have a "." at the beginning of the folder name). Also check to make sure somehow there wasn't a .nomedia file placed in there somewhere.
If none of those work, time to reflash.

I haven't tried it but believe that QuickPic would work because the stock video app doesn't find any files but mobo player still works normally. I'm just having problems with media scanner not running. Any app which I could refresh or rescan from within the app finds all my stuff but any app that depends on media scanner doesn't find anything. Idk why media scanner won't run though. Its not that big of a problem but I may have to reflash.
Thanks though =).

Is there a system app that has to do with media scanner? Because I believe I may have uninstalled it or replaced it with an older version that isn't working anymore. I was working on a port of the Epic Dark Horse theme and I didn't pay that much attention to what are the app files already in it. It may have had an older media scanner app that doesn't work on my phone now when I flashed it. That's like the only thing I can possibly think of that messed up media scanner. Is there such an app?

My question is: I usually delete apps like this: in app manager:wipe cache, wipe data, uninstall
This way,The app will totally be deleted?I mean no junk files,no system files,no hidden files will be left from the app?
That's what I do. However there usually send to be done stuff left behind.
So I just go thru every now and then and get rid of it.
Idk why it does not go 100% away.

I would like to know the best way to do this as well. Lite Flow left all kinds of information on my phone after deleting it, including access to pretty much all the information on my phone. Is there a way, after the fact, to clear all of its data from my phone?

Have you tried any file explorer ?
I use es explorer to delete system files.
Haven't checked it that it completely deletes the file or not.

My phone is rooted and I have es explorer; the problem is that I have no clue where that kind of information is stored on Android (Like in Windows I know it would pretty much all be in the Program Files directory and in the Registry. If data is stored similar to my Linux desktops, then the information can be all over the place and not consistent from program to program).
EDIT: I contacted the developer and he told me what directory to delete, and that fixed the problem.
Good morning all.
I just discovered that if I put any of my phone apps into folders (e.g. put Phone or Messages or Video into into a folder in the app drawer) and reboot, the apps are magically dumped from their respective folders back into the root folder (app drawer).
Does anyone else have this issue?

There is thread with this exact problem, try to find it. From what I remembered, if you add apps to folder by clicking on that plus sign, they will disapear. You need to click on menu button and then edit. Here you should edit your folders and then save. Once done this way, they will stay in their folders.

Thanks for the response. I'll give that a shot. I used that method to do my other apps; phone apps seem to be the only ones affected. Will let you know how it turns out and will also look into that thread when I find it.

That seems to have done the trick. The phone apps are staying inside their folders and they're not magically popping back into the root folder. Thanks!

Solution: Do not use the plus sign inside the folders, or the apps will fall out of the folders when you reboot. Instead, press “Edit,” and drag and drop the apps into the folders. This will keep the apps inside the folders. Honest. It worked for me.
I have the above showing that its taking up 5GB on my Nexus 7, when I go to Settings > Storage >Misc files.
What is it? What app uses that?
Just wondering what to do about it.
Thanks,
Jon
Just a guess but may be for an RSS feed I would delete it if it takes up 5gb

I don't want to delete it, since it might mess up an app I am using. Rather, I would like to know what app its related to. Is there any way to find out?

Looks like it's for this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.meecel.feedreader.RssDemonAd
Edit: Can't imagine for the life of me why an RSS feed app would take up that much space, unless it's configured to download and store content or something.

Nicely found and that helped, thanks. It didn't show under Installed Apps but showed under the All list, under MyApps. Not sure what the All list is meant to show? Previously installed apps?

Correct. If you no longer use the app, you should be fine to delete the data. As the above post mentioned, if in doubt you may just rename or move the folder first to make sure nothing breaks.

I can't seem to delete the cache folder as there are too many files in the folder. About 20K I believe. Any ideas on how I can get rid of it?

What file manager app are you using? Maybe try a different one, I like solid explorer and root browser myself.
You might also try connecting the tablet to a PC and see if you can delete it that way.
