Download Clockwork ROM manager from the market, scroll to the bottom, "all clockwork recoveries" and flash the one you need.

There is no real 2.5.1.4 for this phone. Evil put that and I am not sure why. All it does is misinform people. You need a recovery that does ext4 and that would be 3.0.0.5 or 3.0.0.6. You are fine using the recovery you have or you can flash the zip in my sig for 3.0.0.6 if you want the latest recovery.

thanks for clearing that up man, I've been wanting to try out his version of MIUI, but the "requirements" he listed threw me since I couldn't find 2.5.1.4 anywhere and every time I would try to flash it from ROM Manager it would come back as an error. guess I know what I'll be downloading and playing with when I park the big truck tonight for the weekend.
EDIT: side note - since your 3.0.0.6 supports EXT4 does that mean we can use DarkTremor's A2SDEXT mod? yes I know this may be a dumb question but if you don't ask questions you can never learn anything new.

There isn't a 2.5.1.4 recovery for this phone reguardless of what Koush put in the app. That menu is in all versions of Rom Manager. If you download and flash the recovery that evil lists in his MIUI rom as 2.5.1.4 it is actually the oldest version of 3.0.0.5 (1-16-11).

Not a dumb question at all but I dont have a good answer for you. I havent even checked out DT A2SDEXT mod for this device. I dont think it is really needed with the amount of internal memory we have. I have 73 apps installed and still have 0.87GB of available space. Wish I could give you a better answer for that one.
side note- aren't you from the slide forums? Or am I just trippin?

no you ain't trippin, I was on there a lot before. I still pop in every now and again (wife still has just the slide). I started with a pair BH2's, got a pair of Slides on drop day and got the MT4G around mid Nov, already saving up to hopefully get the Pyramid off contract when it comes out and gonna pass this one to the wife.

[Q] Help with flashing Rom...

My girlfriend has an original mytouch 3g from release date that I'm trying to install a custom Rom on. It has the 2.2 OTA Rom from t-mobile and I have attached an image of her boot//spl and radio versions.
I have root access already and can flash clockwork or amon's recovery just fine. I already have nandroid backups on the computer and the Rom I want on the SD (either yoshi extreme 1.5 or brewed froyo).
The problem arises when I flash a Rom. It doesn't matter what Rom I am flashing or whether I use amon or clockwork, it just bootloops at the green mytouch screen. I have searched for HOURS to figure it out, and I think it is an SPL issue, but there is way too much info on the phone online to sift through. When I had my 32b (never had OTA froyo) I just downloaded the Rom, booted into RA and flashed. It always worked.
I'm not looking to be spoon fed here, just point me in the right direction. If I need a new/eng SPL, please point me towards which one!
Also, how do I keep it from flashing over amon/clockwork upon boot?
Thanks guys!

So, do we need to replace the spl from the ota 2.2 update before we can flash roms? What spl should I flash? I'm going to flash one of the roms that are based on the ota update...
I just want to flash something a bit faster and overclock a little to hold her over until we get her something better. Maybe ill just pick up an hd2 for cheap and throw a desire rom on it! Or perhaps give her my mytouch 4g and pick me up a nexus s!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
You just need to install eng spl like 1.33.2005 by crios or 1.33.2010 you flash it via recovery, install yoshi or brew or my mod and you will be fine
I JUST saw your reply man! I had all but given up until today when my girlfriend started complaining again about her phone! Thanks for the help!
Cyanogenmod, here we come!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Okay, so I tried flashing Cyanogen 6.1 after flashing 1.33.2005 and it just bootloops. I'm trying Yoshi now.
UPDATE: Everything bootloops. Nothing will boot. Here is where I'm at with spl/radio. Any ideas?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I recently got a new mt3g...again, downloaded the ota 2.2. what did you root the phone with??? do you have ROM manager on the phone?? With that you have there you should be able to Flash CM6.1 stable I would have thought. If you have ROM manager installed just download the rom on ROM manager with gapps, just make sure you check backup and do a WIPE. if you dont do a wipe will bootloop.
If you dont want CM. download superwipe. you can find it on here. If you go that route. Go into recovery performed nandroid backup, installed zip file for superwipe. let it do its thing. reboot phone back into recovery and flash you ROM, then gapps and then kernel. First boot is the longest. I would flash CM6.1 if you have never flashed ROM before. Yoshi is kinda difficult if you have never flash ROM before, just a fyi.
The wierd thing is my phone said the same before you installed the new eng spl.
I've flashed plenty of Roms in the past.
The problem ended up being my radio version. Both radios from the OTA 2.2 updates turned out to be incompatible with cyanogenmod...
I just ended up finding a ported version of CM 6.1 final that worked with the new OTA radio and spl. The new radio and spl together free up an extra 15 mb of RAM too, so its a nice bonus. I had to flash the new spl back with fastboot before I could flash CM, but otherwise it was simple. The phone is MUCH more snappy now compared to OTA 2.2.1, no swap or anything.
If you decide to go that route, its very simple.
1) root with superoneclick
2) download amon RA and flash with Rom manager
3) wipe and flash the ported cyanogenmod Rom
Viola, cyanogenmod with an extra 15mb of RAM. You could even supposedly flash one of pershoot's kernels which now support the new radio and spl RAM hack.
If you have any questions, let me know!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
or you can flash regualar 6.1 and then flash ezterry's 2708 port kernel. pershoots has one as well.

[Q] Kernal and O/C

Oh so what exactly is a Kernal and Over clocking?

The Kernal is the VERY core of the Luiux system. It's the heart if you will. It is boss, what you tell it to do, it does. for the good and for the bad. Rooting gives you direct access to the Kernal, called "SU" Super User Access, or in temp. access "sudo" but that's a different story.
This comic explains it a little.

Over-clocking is making the processor work faster than it was designed to work. so our baseline is 1.0Ghrz. With a Kernal that allows for overclocking we can get to speeds like 1.5Ghrz or anywhere in between. gives a smoother, faster overall experience.
OK , so is it worth putting on the phone? Im using stock sense for now then Im going to switch to iced. I jusst cant seem to stick to the other roms. So how would I put a different kerna; and o/c.

Iced Glacier may have an overclocked Kernal already installed into the ROM. I do not know much about Iced Glacier. You'd have to check out that thread.

Cyanogen is a pure AOSP ROM, it doesn't have many bells and whistles and it's not "prettied up" to make it appealing. It's bare bones vanilla android. Like what the Nexus Line and the G2 use.
I have nothing against Iced Glacier, It's a good ROM that is turning some impressive numbers. However i personally prefer the sock look and feel of android.

Not Really. Zinx has done an AMAZING job with this ROM. Just follow their wiki-page and you'll be good to go. It's easy to understand and very straight forward.
just make sure to do a nandroid backup of your current ROM. And save it on the SDcard and on another means of media. You don't want something to go south and not be able to get your phone back to a "stock look".
yeah I know, ive tried eVil HD and Z and its juss not my taste.

To carry applications and data over use Titanium Backup, you can get by with the free one, but i highly suggest the paid version.
the "google addon" or "GAPPS" is the Google Talk/GMail/Google Maps/Market applications. Those are not "open source" like the ROM is so you have to add those on to the end of flashing a ROM.

do you know if s=on or s=off
have you flashed a custom recovery image?
Android Zoom : Titanium Backup can be found here
Make sure you have a barcode scanner for "androidzoom"
Im perma-rooted, Im s=off
what you mean by flashed a custom recovery image? all I've done is ROMS, mods and font.

What you will want to to is at the bottom of Titanium you will see a "got problems". click on it and down load busybox. fairly quick and small footprint protocol deal. What it does is will back up all of your applications to your SD card. So when you wipe > flash ROM > reboot you can use titanium back up to restore everything.
Click on schedules > edit > and make it "back up applications and user data" then click run.
That will back every thing up
Then when you reboot you can : Got problems > download busy box > applications and restore the ones that have a greenish color "M" next to them.
And it's like you never left.
as far as fonts go i recommend using the ones found Here. Or downloading and using the ones in an applications called "root tools".
Thanks, going to give this a shot now

I have to agree, this is probably the best froyo rom I have tried. Matter of fact, I would still be using it except I had issues in that whenever my phone restarted, I couldn't get it past the G1 logo and would have to reflash to get it running again.
i was on COS-DS and it ran fairly good but had little lags here and there but the rom i keep comming back to on my dream is ezterry Official AOSP. its fast and stable its my daily rom.

As I recall, I repatitioned the card and I think I tried it with ext4. I then wiped it in fastboot (fastboot erase system -w and fastboot erase boot) and then wiped it with superwipe and wipedatacachesystem x2.
Maybe it was the ext3 vs ext4. I may try it again.
i tired SuperASOP ran very good i would kept with the rom but some reason when i try to go thru my sdcard with astro it say it was blank. setting my ringtone/notification it didnt read any that was in my sdcard only one that came with the rom. if theres a fix let me know i would like to give it another shot.

for new spl/radio you need to flash superbler kernel before booting, the link is here link next to rom
it has nothing to do with ext2/3/4 because this will be accessed only after you activate app2sd from supsetup settings

I appreciate the advice but I still can't seem to get past the G1 screen. I formatted the card, partitioned it (FAT32, EXT3, 128MB Swap), wiped with wipedatacachesystem and Superwipe and then went through all the wipe options in recovery and repaired the ext. I then flashed the rom and the superblur kernel.
No luck as I still get stuck on the G1 screen.

Yes. I have, however I don't know what it means (any of it). I seriously don't know what I'm doing.
All I know is that there's apps such as superuser, rom manager, clockwork and the coredroid it's self.
I don't know what's the latest version either..
Here are screen from my phone that I guess will help:

I've also the following Apps installed:
Dual File Manager
ROM Manager (Free Version)
Titanimum Backup (Free Version)Superuser
I can also boot in to ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.6.
Just need specific instructions on how to actually flash the rom, I don't understand the stuff about the radios either. I'm on Windows 7 Proffesional and have a USB cable aswell as WIFI and Mobile Internet.
I've also downloaded the latest version of coredroid on to my desktop.
If someone can help me over IM that would be much appreciated..
Hi , in ROM Manager you have an option to get an update for your ROM but i dont think you need it since you put the lastest version on ur SD
First i recommend you to update the recovery to 3.2.6.0
then you should flash the recommended radio before flashing the updated coredroid
if you have already the recommended radio then you can wipe except if there are only stock apps
Finally enter in recovery mode , and choose install from zip and choose your updated Coredroid and let your Desire HD do the rest
I installed LeeDroid myself yesterday but i wasn't ENG S-OFF and though from the beginning that i was ENG S OFF so flashing the radio was impossible as well as the other things to do
Hope i helped
Edit: put the update in ur SD card and then in recovery cwm and then "apply update from sdcard" is the right choice i think
Can someone please explain what a radio is? Oh and how I know which one o have and how to flash it..

And you should have radio s-off by means of having a custom recovery.
To check do volume up and power at the same time, takes you to the HBoot, while there select recovery and should take you to your recovery

Go down to the most recent, download and put it on the root of your SD. Card. And boot to hboot. Hboot will detect it then will ask to install say yes then it'll start. After that it should reboot an congrats you installed your fiirst radio

Hi mate,
It's on my sd card root. Do I need to rename it to pd98img.zip? Right I took a risk and renamed it to pd98img.zip.
It just says parsing and then nothing else?
It says parsing PD98IMG.ZIP
then nothing, returns to hboot. I downloaded:

Does your phone still boot up? And I meant to change my post to tell you to do the April 28th one. That one may work
And yea it should be PD89IMG.zip

Yes, my phone boots up fine. The same is happening. 'Parsing... PD98IMG.ZIP'. This is the 28th April one.

Yay, with a thumping heart beat, I've done it!
Code:

The upgrading process is finished and your phone is rebooting...

rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.174s
Press any key to continue . . .
Now, I need to erm... update coredroid?
That sounds easy but how? :|
congrats. first go to rom manager and update your recovery, next have the current rom or any rom of choice on your sdcard. doesnt have to be on the root just to let you know. go to install from sdcard ->choose from sdcard -> flash rom. but before doing you are going to wipe your phone then you can flash. some roms you may not have to wipe, but doing a wipe cleans up any errors and will run smoothly.
so if you want to try roms out, just go to the development section and choose your rom of choice. if you download off your phone they will be in your download folder

Thanks for the build, have you made any progress on getting netflix working?
Edit: read the change log...it's working.
Sorry I read the M4 change log earlier today for my phone and it was not on there.

I currently have CM9 Alpha2 on my TP. When I try to install AOKP in CWM, I end up with two options in moboot, Cyanogenmod 9 and AOKP. They both lead to the same rom, but I just end up in a bootanimation loop. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

You're doing nothing wrong. If you don't want it there, go to classicnerd.net and there is a zip you flash before each rom the will clear that list.

You can also just delete whichever uImage from the boot menu in Root explorer... Just Wipe and flash aokp then select to boot aokp. The uImages are in the boot directory. uImage.cyanogenmod you can either rename it or just delete it. The hardware video fix completes this device for me. Plex now works which for me was the only thing missing. Thanks alot ProTekk.
Dloadng now.... cant wait!
Thanks for the info on clearing moboot, now I got AOKP to boot up properly
Quick question: After installing AOKP how much sd card space should I have (32gb TP with only webOS stuff and AOKP)?
Changing what you've got booting won't use any SD Card space.

Hmm wont work at all for me, updated the app and flash, rebooted several times. Cleared the app data still not working, the app loads but videos just say there was a problem while playing touch to restart
I just did a cwm wipe and install and my moboot only has cyanogenmod as a boot option no aokp.
It's it because I installed with cwm and not acme installer?
What's the proper way to install ROMs for future reference?
