Newbie, here.
A cool app, set to be marketed as a drinking game for St Patrick's day.
Is it fun? Is it unique?
We've also built in a lot of what we hope are unique functions...what do you think?
vocalization
1. vocalization of printed messages
2. regional vocalization
3. vocalization of messages not printed on screen
Visualization
1. new messages each time
2. meter display (on left of photo)
3. logo display (lower right
4. green tint on photos
Thanks (and apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong area)
Cheers, S

Basically my idea is this (feel free to take it and profit off of it in the android market):
Basically what I want is to have a dancing Kirby icon in my notification bar. Like use up 3 spaces on my notification bar and have him walk back and forth and do a little dance and such. He would disappear when a real notification comes in and reappear when the notification was addressed. And then be able to change him to any character I can make icons for...like mega man!
So...is writing Android apps hard? I am a TOTAL noob at this...I'm not expecting any comforting answers
Also, if you pull the not. bar down, you can touch the running app to load the app. where you can change the character, download more characters, or just turn it off!
How much do I need to pay a developer to make this for me!? hell, he could just charge for it on the market and I'd pay for each character!
---------------
Well I've never developed anything in my life other than a webpage in HTML....so I guess I'm going to have to learn how to manipulate someone else's code to do what I want it to. That being said, my friend and I will attempt to somewhat half-ass learn how to make android apps (but not really) to accomplish my dream app!
What I need from you guys is a link, or some kind of direction to head in. I feel the easiest way to make a notification bar with a dancing Kirby on it is to take the preexisting code from some random "SMS Faker" app and rewrite it to show a picture of Kirby instead of a postcard, or a picture of an envelope. And I'll try to figure out how to make the app send updated pictures to the not. bar (like a new txt will change the icon to a picture of an envelope with the number 2 over it...then 3...then 4 as new txts come in)
But in this case the 2,3,4 would be different sprite images of Kirby in various stages of dance! I will need to figure out how to make the app send these updated pictures in constant rapid succession so as to make it look like kirby is dancing at full speed, instead of at ... idk...1 fps.
So...anybody got some SMS Faker code laying around I can mod?
---------------
How do I change that envelope to be ANY picture I CHOOSE?! And what such a line of code would look like?
Refer to included picture for this one.
Hi guys
used to have a rom which was fine except for transfering data so I had to move to another one (MCCM HD 4.0) but I have 2 gripes:
1. the calendar week starts on Sunday where my previous rom started on Monday.
I cannot find anywhere the setting that will allow me to change it to Monday. Does anyone know how to do it?
2. the battery meter has been done with white numbers on a light green background (and they are also left justified instead of right justified) but they are totally unreadable. I would like to change them to an easier to read version like black numbers on a green background. Again can anyone tell me how to do it or point me in the right direction (or thread)?
Thanks
Paolo

Does flash video from the stock browser play in proper full screen? Or do they still have the bug that always displays the top notification bar?
Finally I can create appointments in Exchange Calendar marked as private

Don't know.
Doesn't do on YouTube atleast
Do you know when this will be available through Kies? Nordic.
I just got 2.3.4, but battery sucks, so I'm not happy. If I'll have to wait a long time, then I guess I'll have to learn to deal with Odin and rooting...
How's the Yellow Tint?
I don't know if it's me or what, but when I unlock my phone I see a flash image of my homescreen and then the lockscreen appears.

Yeah i got that too!!
Battery usage link under applications was always there.
i think the vibrate icon is NOT a bug, i think they changed that to!
because..
when you put your profile on Ringtone+ vibration, the vibrate icon appears right ?
now drag down the notification bar and put it on silent, you wil get an icon of a speaker with a \ stripe( a new silent mode icon?)
so i think they did this on purpose, as i have never seen the speaker icon appear when myh phone needed to be silent( not that i ever put it to silent, but i have never seen this icon!)
Grtz
Can someone upload the TwLancher.apk from this firmware please????

This has happened in 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 for me also. I think 2.3.5 was better..just in my case anyways. Could be that the phone is running a bit quicker

Ya, it does it on all stock builds I used so far.
Any improvements on the gradient colour banding with 2.3.5?
Hi all. Thought I'd start a thread purely on what's new n 2.3.5. OK I'll start.
In Gmail you now have an option to 'show pictures always' from the sender. Saves having to click on show pictures from email senders that you trust.

Not a good start then, since that's from the Gmail app itself, came out a while ago ^_^
Hi everyone,
I upgraded from a Nexus S, on which it was common "knowledge" that using the capacitive buttons as notification LEDs, leaving them "on" used less power than having them blink, and either way using them saved a ton of power over waking the phone up constantly to check for missed notifications. I also wasn't worried about them overheating or anything because they're so low-power and on stock Android they're always on if the screen is on anyway.
Now that I'm messing with LightFlow, I'm fascinated by all the ways I can use colours and blink rates to know what's going on, but is there anything I need to be careful of? Does leaving the LED on use a significant amount of power, or is leaving it on a significantly lower power cost than switching your screen on for a second every 20 minutes to see if you missed anything? Do I need to worry about wearing it out if, say, I have a particular colour that's on 8 hours a day (i.e.: charging/fully charged)?
Lastly, and this one's just out of curiosity, do you have a particular logical colour scheme for your notifications? I'm trying to decide between colours based on urgency (i.e.: red = urgent, all the way down to blue = take your time) or trying to get the colour of the LED to match the colour of the app icon. Do you just assign random colours or is there method to your madness?
Thanks for anything you can help me with!

Not really, I just settled on:
WHITE - SMS
ORANGE - Gmail
GREEN - Missed Call
RED - No Signal (my house is Faraday Cage)
And that's it. Don't really need LED notifications for other apps. Feel like it needs some blue in there though!

Which one do you suggest? Also if a mod wants to move this, sorry, please do. I thought it was a pretty "Nexus 4 General" question.

I did has following:
Green (flash) - SMS/MMS (matches the icon)
White (flash) - Gmail (mail/letters come on white paper)
Purple (flash) - Facebook (kinda matches the icon color)
Blue (flash) - Google Voice (same as above)
Red (flash) - low battery (red = critical)
Yellow (flash) - Missed call
Orange (flash) - Calender
Pink (flash) - Song Pop (girly color for girly game)
Green (solid) - Fully charged
For the flash I used the custom timing of 1000ms on, 1000ms off.

Did you experience any battery issues due to lightflow?
I'm colorblind so I have to keep it simple.
Blue: SMS/MMS
Green: email
White: Facebook/G+
Red: Missed Call/Battery low
I have too much trouble distinguishing the other colors.
I use color code and based on priority from highest to lowest
Yellow = missed call/VM
Orange =vox
Green = IM
Blue = sms
Red = Email
That's it I think. Others I don't care enough about to have a notification on.
Oh. and I haven't noticed a change in battery life with light flow. Although in the past with other devices there were issues that eventually get fixed.

Not for the short while I had it, there are several ROMs out now that have LED customization built in now.
Am I correct to assume there is no LED customisation available for missed calls, charging battery, SMS in the original stock Android version of Nexus 4?
