Verizon has tried to ota me 3 times today, each failed with an error about fail to install....DI01 to EA 28. I assume this fail is because of not having 05 or 09 and that Im rooted.
I have Odin, the 05, 09 files, CWM green and am running titanium bu Pro. Anything else I need I can search the forum and download.
Any advice on the quickest, hassle free update or some new approach to try ? I kept it debloated but stock since the performance was fine and battery life was amazing at 21 hours. I skipped the dl30 on some advice because of enterprise email use.
Thx in advance

If you don't mind being rooted, and you don't want bloat, then you should definitely check out the EB01 and SuperClean setups.
They're already at 2.2 (EB01 modem required), even before Samsung has figured out how to do some proper coding.
Just saw that ea28 is an emergency call fix. Eeh...... I assume that I can go 01 to 09 then to the froyo eb01, but not skip 09 ? I can do cwm green to red at the same time
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
You don't have to upgrade through the different revisions. If you can use Odin the easy way is to Odin eb01 with root and CWM in the developer forum.

I just got the Fascinate with Cellular South. I would really like to get root access. I rooted my HTC Hero so im not completely new to the rooting process. I have a working ADB. If someone can point me to the right location.
Here is some info on the phone:
Hardware version: i500.04
Model:SCH-I500

rooted my fascinate on saturday, web page isn't letting me post the link but google: xda root fascinate. i used the super one click root about three links down the page. its was the simplest root i found to supposedly work well.
I don't know why z4root wouldn't work. Search the market. It weighed on my buddies OG Droid yesterday and he's a big chicken. The thing was bone stock until then. Hooray for peer pressure!!

who is your service provider? Cellular South got the Fascinate Monday, so you must have a diff carrier if you rooted saturday.

Nice. Just don't do what I did and forget to install cwm by odin. And not by market or rom manager took a few day to figure that one out haha

Yes. The one-click method works on the Cellular South version.

Is CWM a Facinate ROM? From my understanding, the file structures are different between the Showcase (Cellular South) and the Facsinate... also, there is no custom recovery (that I know of) written for the Showcase, so no way to Nandroid backup.

Do you have any lagfixes installed? I got the internal memory error after flashing CWM with Voodoo applied. You'll have to remove the lagfix, possibly return to stock using Odin, then flash CWM via Odin. You should be golden from there on.
If you are using a lagfix, ditch it for jt's StupidFast kernel (11/11 stable) and one his most recent CleanROM or any other of your choice. Just my 2 cents.
EDIT: jbreak may have a point. I was referring to the VZW Fascinate. The stock and CWM Odin files may not be available for the Cell South version.
anyone give this a shot? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784691

That could be the case. From what I could find out, the Fascinate and Showcase seemed nearly identical. The Showcase actually comes from Cellular South with Verizon files still in the system folders. However, if the file structures are different that would very much so explain the issue. I tried all the above; removing lagfix, odin, etc. nothing solved it. But I got a new one
The Showcase does have a recovery. Clockwork worked fine, just the internal memory error ****ed everything up.

Root worked fine on EA28 update
I used the manual ADB root install method. I prefer that over the one click but it worked perfect. I would expect the one click root methods to work fine also on this update since it seems to only be a fix for the emergency dial and maybe a few bug fixes but there is no major update here at all. I loaded back to stock DL09 and let the EA28 update hit and then re rooted and all is well.
I wanna get froyo but idk how to root tho I've tried and tried

Morning all,
Is anyone running the Gbread 595 leak yet? I am thinking about trying it out this morning, as everything I read indicates it will be the launching point for what could be the official 596 release on the 13th.
Let me know if you have any observations on this.
Thanks,
Steve
I downloaded it yesterday, and am running liberty v.5 on top of it and I love it. It is really fast, and other than a few bugs with my contacts syncing up with facebook, I am having no problems.
Im gonna wait it out, till we get the official release... Apex2.0.0 is pretty sweet for now

I agree. Apex is amazing. I will wait for it to update
Weird issue I am running into....
I upgraded to 588 with no problems from 340 Froyo. I used DroidX recovery to accomplish this. When I rebooted 588 I tried to go to 595. I tried using DroidX recovery but this did not allow me to boot into recovery...it only gave me a blank screen. When I got back to 588 I uninstalled DroidX recovery and then installed Droid2 recovery. I was then able to reboot into recovery and try to install 595. The install aborted saying it was looking for 3 arguments and got 4.
Any ideas? Which recovery should I be using thoughtout this?
Thanks,
Steve
Both recoveries (AFAIK) are the same clockwork recovery, it's just a different method of "bootstrapping" so that you can get into the recovery. Droid2 bootstrap works on gbread unless USB debugging is disabled, then droidx bootstrap works.
Sounds like you got a bad file.
Just redownload the file and it should work
Yes the one I downloaded yesterday was bad, and a new one was uploaded. I just downloaded the new one and am going to try again to move back up to 595. Once that happens I am hanging on til the 13th.
I would assume once this official update comes out then VZW will no longer support the DX with official updates. We really need to get Moto to unlock the bootloader for us, so we can continue to develop for the DX.
Steve
I have made it successfully to 595. I am having a problem with Gingerbreak 1.2, so I am betting there is something in 595 that doesnt allow it to root.

P3Droid released three different versions of .595: full stock, rooted and odexed, and rooted and deodexed.
You can try flashing one of the rooted .595 releases.

Yes it looks like the rooted ones will accept Gingerbreak. I may go back to .591 and hold there until the official OTA version comes out.
You shouldn't need Gingerbreak on the rooted ones, as they are already rooted.

Curious, I'm running .573 now, if I flashed the latest rooted & deoxed, do I really have to sbf back to Froyo before hand like I've read in other places? OR can I just flash over it and roll on?
You only need to flash back if you don't have root, I believe.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Not having luck.
I tried to install, initially from my rooted deoxed stock .340 to rooted deoxed .595, first got a corrupted file report....would not upgrade.
Next got boot loop (repeating M), so SBF back to stock 340...Rooted and tried again with the same file and got a very unstable phone, reboots etc.
The only thing I can think of is that the phone was stock rooted but not deoxed, so when I tried loading the deoxed version it didn't like it? no idea.
I did a wipe before each load but can't seem to get it to work on my phone. My phone is very new.
SBF'd back to stock unrooted and I'll leave it like that to see if I can get the update from VZW.
I believe you have to start at .588 (or .573) then flash .591 over it, then flash .595 over it.

Not completely accurate.. I went from .588, to .595 without any adverse effects. Phone is a bit snappier than before too, app drawer scrolls more fluidly, etc.
So I'm now own a fascinate after owning a Droid 1, epic, ascend 2, Droid x, and now this... I was wondering if anyone could help me with finding cm7, which recovery, how to properly install it. I so far have the Samsung drivers and Odin 3 but my first attempt cm7 it worked fine minus no 3g and gapps wouldn't flash/install, so than I tried going back to stock and it bricked on me " thanks to mobilecomm man" I now have my phone back but I think I'm running 2.1 is their anything newer like 2.3 ? There is no official 2.3 update yet... but there is a powerwashed gingerbread rom in dev section thats a official mezmerize build. Its basically a stock gb rom thats rooted/debloated/ bing free/ deodexed.

thats because the version of cwm you are running supports ext4 only, not rfs that powerwashed gingerbread is built on. Make sure you have cwm 2.5.1.x red recovery. There is no need to go all the way back to eb01. the stock ed05 package is fine.
