Sprint Galaxy Tab here and:
Does anyone know how to remove/turn off the dumbass Sprint animation on power up/down, and
Does anyone know how to change the time the buttons are lit (at least they go out unlike the crummy ones on the Verizon tab!

The frankly stupid placement of the back and power buttons on the Hero are my only major annoyance with this phone. Well, that and the lack of Bluetooth support, can't believe any old Nokia or WM can send and receive files and I cant, but I digress...
Having those buttons where they are mean it is impossible to use it one handed without cramping your hand or risking dropping it. Ok for lefties, very difficult for right handed people. The power button should be on the top like all the other HTC phones, where it is obvious, doesnt get in the way of anything else, and is easily and naturally accessed when you first pick up the phone. Major oversight, HTC!
Is there a way to get a shortcut button on the home page which would do the same as hitting the power switch and turning off the screen? I appreciate this would only work from the home screen, and not if I was in any other app, but it would still be a help.
I cant find one in the MarketPlace, but dont have access to everything there anyway. And most Android phones probably dont need it, as their power buttons are probably in more sensible places...
when you access the lcd menu test there is a button that says receiver. what does that do exactly? if i hit it what happens?
I think your phone just makes a very annoying loud noise. I know I hit it before. Try it, it wont hurt your phone

This immediately reminded me of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Arthur Dent: I wonder what'll happen if I press this button.
Ford Prefect: Don't.
Arthur Dent: [presses it] Oh.
Ford Prefect: What happened?
Arthur Dent: A sign lit up saying "Please do not press this button again."
LOL...its like telling a kid "dont push that big red button right there" i was just wondering what it did. too scared to push it and mess up my phone. i'm a scaredy cat when it comes to messing with my phone. i've only gotten as far as downloading froyo via samsung website and update .zip file and doing the one click root via V2.55 with clockworkmod redirector.

i pressed it. it blew up my house
no actually it didn't do anything, it just forced closed the test screen, haha.
Interesting though, if you go into the led mode, you have options to test the led, but there are colors on there (green, yellow, cyan, and white) that we don't have leds for. Wonder why this is in the programming? you can make it magenta though (obviously just the blue and red led on at once)
Samsung uses the same generic test screen for all of their phones, it doesn't surprise me that they lazily left in options to test things we don't have.
I'm glad I did a search before crying wolf; I'm a noob android user and was fumbling with my phone in hand trying to do several things at once when I happened to notice the screen. It had all these "buttons" with color names on them...and "LED Test". I about panicked because I thought it had gone into some self-destruct mode or something. Now that I'm over that "scare", what other tests can my Infuse perform?
Thanks for not laughing at me (too much) ....
I hit it, very annoying noise that I couldn't turn off! had to reboot phone to get it to go away.l
Hi-was wandering if anyone can help. I brought a Samsung Galaxy Note a few days ago and was really pleased untill someone tried ringing me. When I tried to answer the call by pressing the Green Accept Call icon and sliding my finger (as per the instructions) I noticed that the screen didn't respond. The same thing happens when the phone is asleep and I press the home key to bring up the unlock screen to use the phone. I would have press the home screen twice before pressing my finger on the screen for the screen to respond.
The strange thing is I can do all the above if I use the stylus.
This leads me to suspect I may have a setting wrong.........can anyone help or has anyone heard of this?
thanks
I do not have a note but there are 2 places in the Galaxy phone where you can set screen sensitivity so I would guess the Note would be similar. One is in the secret code section and to be honest it has been over a year since I played with that, so you will have to look that up. The other was a normal setting menu I think it was in display settings but don't remember now since I have been on a custom rom forever. Google the Galaxy phone touchscreen sensitivity. I do remember this the settings I played with were too sensitive or to hard no in between. Not much help but it is what I recall.
Hi oka1
thanks for the advice. I rang up the retailer and described my issues with the mobile and they told me to send it back for a replacement as it is only 3 days old.
NP not much help I am going to close this thread since this is resolved

I've got a note 3 sm-n9005 NOT rooted and my phone keeps unlocking itself in my pocket. I *think* what's happening is that my menu button is being pressed accidentally against my leg or the pocket (depending on which way it's in the pocket) and it's waking it up. I'd prefer not to root, but I was wondering if there was anyone here who had the same issue and / or know of anything i should look for/check on to make sure i didn't set something else that might be doing this or ways that i might be able to prevent this from happening. it's actually a pretty severe battery drain, and also i end up going into programs, dialing numbers, entering text... how do i solve this?
P.S. I had an original note (sgh-i717) and it had capacitive buttons on the face which were completely inactive unless i woke the phone by pressing the power button on the side. this configuration not only worked BEAUTIFULLY but the interface was much more usable and less likely to break. I really wish they'd do away with the physical menu button. it sucks. - and also, where'd the search button go? it was super useful for activating google now and i configured long-press to launch the camera which was super useful.
while i'm on the topic, anyone who can tell me how to remove svoice and have google now wake up the phone with either ok google or high galaxy without rooting / switching roms would have my high praise. I really don't like svoice, never have. google now is *much* better.
I recently got an s5 for Verizon in a trade for a HTC m8. I can' figure out why the recent apps ccapactive button is on while the screen is locked. I went to display and choose the option where the light is "always off" but it still lights up even when I charge it. When phone is off whenever I press the power button, the capactive button lights up.
Can anyone help me figure this out? I'm very sure the phone isn't a counterfeit. I've checked the specs and everything checks out. It's an as u Rion refurbished model if that makes any difference. I'm wondering if I should trade back or not.
