1- yes you can, you just flash it like any other firmware. you can find firmwares from here: http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i5800.htm
2- it depends what firmware youre using.
3- no, but you could do it anyway, i mean you just have to press button in z4root.
4- yes there is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873645
any other questions?
EDIT: i almost forgot... remember not to flash bootloader, that way you cant brick your phone!!!

my brightness is 60% may be
i charge it twice a day for like 1 1/4 hours each. may be 2.5 hours a day, when the battery becomes 50%, i charge it again.
@devil, hey bro, I couldn't really understand the basics, also, i wanted to meet the pro's here
try switching brightness to 0% (you get used to it quickly, but outside use is difficult with 0% so i suggest making a shortcut on a homescreen for display to be able to easily turn up the brightness when outside)
You can flash the gp9 rom, it has the best battery backup....... Even the current lestatious rom v1.2 is giving a good battery backup...... Install watchdog and remove any task killers you have......the main reason for quick depleting battery is the cpu usage and not ram......also try lowering your brightness........

Hi All
I got my international version SGS2 about 3 weeks ago. I am very happy with how its holding up currently but am trying to get the best battery life out of my phone. Coming from a Wave that lasted me 5 days without a problem I am trying to get something close to that.
I have a low to med usage pattern and it will most likely not change in the near future. I bought myself the Origianl Extended Battery 2000mAh and putting it through its paces now and currently on my 1st cycle.
Here is where I need the solid advice...
I am on the Original XFA firmware Android 2.3.3
1. I need to know if I can revert everything back to the original firmware when I need it and remove the root as well?
2. Can someone provide me with the Original FW as I have checked Check Fus and it cant even find the one installed on my phone?
3. Are the benefits of later Android versions really that much better or will I experience much the same as I am experiencing now on the Stock FW?
4. What are the real benefits of rooting and how does it affect my phone?
5. What Kernel should I flash if I decide to root my device as there are hundreds out there with no real explanation of the difference?
These are just some of my concerns and even though 2 days of reading XDA provided some idea into some of these things the explanations was very vague and not really helpfull in understanding what the actual benefits would be
If anyone could assist me I would be very grateful.
Hello, so.. i realize my english isnt perfect, im sorry:
1. When you root, you will have Clockworkmod recovery. This recovery allows you to do a nandroid backup, this backup can be used when you want, to restore the phone with a perfect mirror image of when you created the backup. Ofc it requires a rooted phone, this means it will mirror your 2.3.3 firmware, with root.
2. Intratech link to official firmwares: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
This firmwares are originals, this mean the phone is going back to the original status as when you bought it (no root, no cwm). This will not remove the Download mode Counter that is incresed by 1 everytime you flash a custom firmware/kernel (rooting increases it).
3. Yes, the benefits can be noticed by a lot more smooth interface, faster browser, and some other small things. Specially if you are experiencing the "yellow left side screen" from the 2.3.5 it got fixed.
4. This is a good question, if you ask it, means you are quite happy with your actual situation and dont feel the need of rooting.
The real benefits are to be able to flash custom roms or kernels, that usually give more speed and gadgets compared to the stock firmware. This also allow you to use themes, to change partially or totally the aspect of your phone.
Some games dosnt work (not optimized for the S2) but with chainfire 3d (requires root) you can run almost every game for android).
5. You must start with CF-Root (easiest way) for root, this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Install latest Samsung Kies to get latest samsung mobile usb drivers, but be 100% sure to kill kies process tree (from task manager) before flash with odin, kies dosnt like odin and blocks it at some point, resulting in a chance to semi brick the phone.
Carefull follow the instructions on the post and in 20-30 seconds you done.
After you obtained root, all the kernels for the S2 can be used, most populars are speedmod and siyah (im on this last) due the great stabilty/speed.
As last note, please be sure 100% you want/need to root:
Rooting void your warranty, ofc you can buy a usb jig to reset the counter and have again your warranty.
Be sure you understand rooting is not 100% safe, nor is any rom/kernel that you will flash.
Nowdays is really hard to brick a phone, but a really small chance to brick is always here, specially if you are not 100% sure on what you are doing.
@rembrandtlnx
Thanks a lot. You have been more helpful than reading XDA for 2 days solidly trying to find out what to do.
At the current moment I don't really see any benefit in rooting. My phone is not presenting with any of the battery draining bugs some users are finding so I am not sure if updating the firmware would be that helpful.
I don't use my phone for a gaming station so I don't play games on it.

Indeed if you are happy on the actual rom for you rooting dosnt make a big difference. I rooted both mines mainly to have the Miui, i always wanted it but my old poor phone wasnt supported.
Anyway, feel free to ask in future if you change your mind

I have another few questions
1. Reading your links I noticed I don't need to root to flash original firmwares to my phone. If I do flash a original firmware to my phone using Odin does my counter increase and will i have that annoying ! at boot up?
2. Is there some way to retain the CSC while flashing?
3. If I flash with just 1 .tar file it would seem to contain all 3 segments PDA, Phone and CSC or would it just replace the PDA and keep the Phone and CSC in tact?
What my aim is that I want to update my Android as I go along but don't want to drop my CSC and I prefer having the compatibility with my provider as it makes it easier and more compatible with the network especially for international dialling.
[Noobs Guide] How to get "DN3 (Ditto Note 3)" ROM working in Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Hi Everyone,
I just now finished installing the ROM successfully so i thought i would atleast make this small tutorial for others, thinking it might be helping them. You wouldn't believe me. I haven't slept the whole night (9hrz without gap) to get this ROM working in my note 2.
Now, a few things about my phone. Trust me, you will require this info because you will then understand what your phone and my phone is. So you could have a clear idea on how to start or where to start.

Now, prerequisites...!
◘ A Samsung Galaxy Note II with definite 70% and above battery if you are a beginner.
◘ The data cable that is actually working when connected between phone & laptop.
◘ An external SD card with a minimum of 4 GB storage so that you can place the ROM to flash it through Recovery.
◘ DN3 (Ditto Note 3) ROM from E-team (Electron Team) downloaded & kept ready in your computer, because it's about 1.48 GB size.
[Important: See that the ROM is downloaded without any breaks. Check whether it is the "Download Success" or "Download Fail" in the Download Manager. If the ROM is not successfully downloaded & you continue to flash it into your Note 2. Then you are going to feel very bad (Trust me). So check it & only then be ready to start.]

I have one question.
I need to use obligatorily external SD card?
Or I can place to internal too?
All custom roms flashed via external SD ?
How is the battery drain in this rom? I tired quite a few 4.3 based roms and the battery drain was terrible. So I happily went back to 4.1.2 based rom with perseus kernel minimal ram usage and amazing battery life. So just wanted to know about the battery drain and whether it can be used with the perseus kernel?

I need to use obligatorily external SD card?
answer : Yes, OBLIGATORILY external SD card
I say internal also can be used, but the operating manner then would be little complicated for which you might land up into a CONFUSED situation. So it's much better to do it through a SD card
Or I can place to internal too?
Answer : Yes, you can place ,but i told u right If u want it complicated, you may if you already have an idea about Philz touch recovery & etc, then, step up
All custom roms flashed via external SD ?
Answer : You see, most of the people actually try to follow the safe and secure way so they do the flash of ROM's from the External SD card
Now doubts clarified ?
If got any more :cyclops: , just lemme know

Ok, I'm looking to do this myself, I'm on a i317 (at&t lte variant) and have found the ROM for that version. My question is, I was told that it would be "trickier" to flash the custom ROM because I have already updated my phone to 4.3 stock. Now I'm aware that flashing the custom ROM will now void my warranty, that is not my concern, my question is what will make it "trickier?" I was not able to receive a response from the person that said this, and now I'm just trying to gather info before attempting this.

I was under the same impression after I upgraded my N7105T (Australia - Telstra) to 4.3 as well.
The reality is that it is not trickier in the slightest. What did happen for me upon the initial flashing of the ROM from Philz recovery was that I was stuck on the initial boot logo until I pulled out the battery and restarted my phone in Philz recovery again. I then flashed the bootloader, thinking that was why it got stuck. After that, all went just fine after performing the installation/flashing again in Philz recovery. I performed a reboot into recovery after the install was completed, factory reset the handset and all was fine thereafter. I was able to restore my data as well as the majority of my apps. Some needed reinstallation, such as phone banking for obvious reasons but all in all, it was very much the painless process.
I'm really happy with it now. I just recently flashed it with the AGNi kernel as well, which was a nice improvement though I've changed from the zzmove battery profile to zzmove optimised profile to see if I still get any issues with apps slowing down to a grinding halt before needing a reboot of the handset to get it back up to speed again.

Was it absolutely necessary for you to quote my entire message when it had very little to do with your question? Please just use the reply button instead of the reply with quoting next time. It will clutter the forums a lot less.
As for your wife not working, I would suggest a divorce.
For the rest of the things you're seeking, I searched the forum and found everything I needed.
Sorry quoting yoi
Sorry I quoted your entire post.
If I had an answer, I won't border asking for help cos I still can't see how you have helped me with your post.
Thanks anyway
In searching through the forums and Google, I found only bootloaders for N7100. What I did find was recommendations to simply upgrade to the official Samsung 4.3 release using Kies and then following the installation procedure for DN3.
Not sure why I'm only seeing N7100 versions of the MJ5 bootloader but everything is smooth on my N7105T with the MK2 bootloader.

Thanks for the response, I ended up doing it and much like yourself, it went beautifully. I'm quite happy with it. I haven't really had any kernel issues so I'm hesitant to flash other ones unless they greatly improve something. Did you flash the the new kernel because of the app slowdown issue you were having? Or just to improve performance in general?
It was to beef up the phone's performance in terms of power consumption but that seemed to work against me.

The rom works like a charm, except for a gimmick: The WiFi is not working. Tried flashing a wifi patch and it worked, but then the camera stopped working. After hours trying to make the camera work, now it does but the wifi does not.
When I try turning the WiFi on it just switches off automatically. Also flashed Devil Kernel, Toooiiko (or something of the sorts) kernel, and they just made the problem worse by fixing the wifi but no camera AND no mobile network of any kind. :rolleyes
Any ideas/suggestions are more than welcome.

Hey Artstar,
I realize you don't like people quoting your entire posts so I thought I'd keep this one brief (not understanding 100% how XDA internals work, I wanted to make sure I got your attention by quoting you at least).
ANYWAYS
I have updated to 4.3 stock (vodafone) which turns out to be ML5 (from memory, phone is not working 100% right now).
Can I please ask (beg, lol) for a link to the bootloader you "flashed" to fix your problem? I've just:
1. updated to 4.3 stock
2. followed instructions on the DN3 V5 ROM install...
Now the first thing I've noticed is my phone won't detect my sim card :-/ So, into my old HTC my sim card goes! I need a phone for the morning, but would ideally like to have a note 2 with working DN3 rom... If you can help at all it would be GREATLY appreciated, as you said; I can't find a bootloader for the GT-N7105T... there are plenty for the other variants, but I really am having trouble finding one for ours.
This is very hopeful that my vodafone model is the same as your tesltra model based on the actual model number, but regardless I've got (and admittedly, I'm guessing a bit here) a dud bootloader installed and would greatly appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance mate, any help is much appreciated. I have searched the entire note 2 thread - perhaps my search skills are not up to scratch or perhaps there is no bootloader and I'm not understanding your instructions correctly.
Cheers!

first of all I will guide you how to root your phone.
you can find my thread here on how to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/root-samsung-galaxy-s4-i9500-i9505-t2982844
and following my tutorial will solve your issue of supesu app.
and personally i prefer using cm12 unofficial which is android lollipop 5.0.2
and your battery needs to be recalibrated. Just charge your phone to 100%
then use it till the phone shutsdown by itself (dont overuse it use it normally as you do daily)
once the phone is switched off by itself charge the phone till 100% without using it and you are set to go
and using a custom rom will also give a boost so do all the steps
Hello my problem start when i update to this android 5 or lollipop , now the battery life is 3 or 4 hours max ...i never flash or root my smartphone before but i know there are a lot of custom rom fast and good for battery life. My uses are web, watching videos, messaging and some apps news.
My question is what is the best ROM for good battery life and speed performance and how i can install it now in my nexus 4 with android 5.01 and without root yet. Because i cant any more for this battery in new ANDROID 5 .
THANKS

If you factory reset you'll still be on lollipop. I'd recommend SimpleAOSP, hasn't failed me. You can find that in the N4 Android Development where youll find the toolkits to toot your phone. Also in this section there's a sticky thread called Nexus 4 ultimate root guide

CM12 is unofficial but you can try it out. PA and AOKP I'm waiting for to release a Nightly or alpha, beta, or something lol. It's gonna be unlock then root. Here's a link to Wugfresh's toolkit to root and unlock your phone

Please i want something good and official its IMPOSSIBLE 3 HOURS of battery A DAY ?? :|
can someone help me please because i dont arrive at 12pm, with this ANdroid 5.01 can someone give me a tutorial with how to install ROM ,
ps. i never flash or root smartphone before !
thanks
Patience is a virtue, my child. It won't kill to check out the development forum to see what's going on with CM12. Remember the Lollipop just came out and it's going to take a long time till there's going to be an official CM. Use the toolkit and root your phone and unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery. Word of caution, backup anything important on your phone, unlocking the bootloader will wipe your phone. But that's a good thing, now you have a clean phone. You can either stay on stock rooted or use the rom which I'm using. It's called SimpleAOSP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2932090

You should have a app that makes your phone wake. The problem is not with android 4.4 or 5, it is something else.
Check if you have NFC on, wifi on (wifi searching, while wifi turn off, on), mobile data on, gps on, bluetooth on, google now on, sync on, check your apps (you can use BetteryBatteryStatus (need root) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en), you can use Greenify to hibernate some apps (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en).
You can also do this. Plug you phone and charge it to 100%. Use the phone until it shutdowns (when it reach 0% battery). Then, with your phone turned off, plug it again (use the wall charger) and wait until it charges to 100% and wait 30, 60 min more. Then use your phone normally.

Get rid of battery doctor and the other apps you use to delete cache and I bet your battery is better. Then get gsam or betterbatterystats and determine where your wakelocks are. Minimize those
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app

First of all, do what jd1639 said. Get rid of those apps. You are wiping the cache, but the android automatically build the cache again. If you use app killers, it kill the battery and doesn't provide any benefit. They do more harm than good.
The android 5 is for nexus 4 too. Go to the battery settings and see what apps are consuming the most battery (if you don't want to install betterbatterystats). Post printscreens of your battery settings and the apps that consume the most battery so that we can help.
Here is a thread that helps you get root and install recovery and custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/guide-ultimate-nexus-4-root-guide-t2018179
But if you backup your apps and restore them, it is possible that you will have the same problem with another ROM, since it is very probably an app that is killing your battery.
In a previous discussion with kerbiii, he suggested a possible solution to downgrade firmware (after the 5.1.1 COJ5 update which blocks downgrades through ODIN) by using a TWRP backup from someone with the same device. So, can someone owning the same device (SM-910C) and using a 4.4.4 Stock Rom with the TWRP installed share a backup of his device's ROM?
Hooking to this same subject, is there a place to download stock ROMS in TWRP recovery format?

Hahaha No No dear!! Marshmallow has a good battery backup like kitkat. The reason behind your battery draining fast on Marshmallow is because you didn't do a factory reset of your phone after the update. Did you install marshmallow via OTA ??

Well... Since how many months or year(s) are you using your phone? coz somewhere I read that the note 4 battery doesn't last for more than 1 year if used heavily everyday like gaming and all that stuff. In some cases, the battery even swells a little. There's a life time as to how many times the battery can be charged and discharged. Buy a new battery or just borrow a note 4 battery from any of your friend (who has a note 4) for 1 day just to test and see if something is wrong with your phone itself instead of the battery.
it doesnt work i tried it earlier . also i tried more than 20 possible solutions and non of them works (i did everything even jtag) and i have spent more than 200$ on these things no result , and if these limits really bother you then welcome to the club just make sure you wont buy another sammy after n4 , have fun
tried the twrp backup?

Hey, have you tried restoration of a kitkat "twrp backup" from another Note4 (n910c)?
