My phone constantly drops internet connection whether im on 4g or 3g. I had this issue ever since i went to DK28. I dont recall this problem on DI18. The problem still persists when I upgraded to eb13 (using samsung utility). The notification bar shows i have 3g or 4g signal but i can not load the market or youtube or webpages as i get a "connection failed retry error". this happens after using the 4g or 3g for 10 or 15 minutes. Can some one help me please?
Sorry to not post answer but o post that i am also having same issue... i am still on dk28 but recently i have started getting frequent connect failures on browser and email - errors webpage not available in browser and connection failed retry error in email
anyone know how to resolve???
I had it about once a day on DK28 but now on EB13 I have it fairly often and the only way I can usually guarantee I get connectivity back is if I reboot.
me too
Unfortunately I'm seeing this as well - more frequently in the last few days.
I initially did the "update" route (downloaded from Samsung) the first day it was available, but had so many issues with the phone I did a factory reset the following day.
Anyone of you try updating your profiles or prl?
Might be worth a shot. Issues like this is why I'm staying on 2.1.
tried that... didnt help
Even on Syndicate Frozen while not as often, any sort of data intensive usage will cause drops

I wonder if sprint has something to do with it?. I have tried every trick from proxy settings to flashing different roms and still have the issue..

This is really frustrating! Sometimes toggling airport mode/4G works but not always. Email/Web is basic functionality of the phone and without i fell my Epic is worthless!
I am still on Dk28 - got a new pc so I have to reinstall drivers/SDK etc not sure if its worth upgrading t EB13

I surely can't be the only one having this issue. It doesn't seem to be related to any particular firmware, as its been an issue ever since I got the phone, and I've since had quite a few different FW on it. Someone I spoke to on another forum with an SGS said theirs did this as well...
Basically, I can be happily surfing away, and then randomly, a page will not load - "Web page could not be loaded" message. Refreshing does not work. At best, turning the APN off or switching to Airplane mode and then back on seems to fix it most of the time. At other times, a full restart of the phone is required.
Most of the time this will happen once or twice in the course of a day, but today it happened on several occasions and it's getting annoying. I had to switch to GSM today for several hours - though that could have been my network provider, but its strange how other Vodafone users in my office were having no issues at the same time I was having issues, even when using the same APN settings.
Any ideas? This is quite a frustrating bug at times.
Unfortunately I can only be here for you , cause this is also happening to me. It is extremely annoying. I did not try the Flight mode switch though, I always had to restart my phone to fix it.
Tried a new rom with updated modem file? Could help

stick to only WiFi or only 3G
you will get those hic ups when the phone is changing between WiFi & 3G
it goes to either side depending which one has a stronger signal
it will have preferences for WiFi over 3G
WiFi is not as stable as 3G from personal experience, so i turn off WiFi and use 3G most of the time

This is a strange one. I have been using Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 rom for almost a month and it works great. I wanted to try another rom so I tried the VirusRom... it was good but I liked Fresh better. So reflashed my Nandroid image and all was well.
But then I started seeing a lot of failed connections to the market and noticed that my 3G was not connecting. I live in Chicago so I am fully covered by 3G in this area, and even 4G in many spots. Usually when I leave a wifi area, the phone switches back to 3G almost instantly. But ever since nandroiding back to the Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 rom, it only works after a reboot. As soon as I hit a wifi zone and then lose it, 3G doesn't switch back on.
4G and Wifi both work, but if I disable both wifi and 4g.. 3g doesn't come back without a reboot.
I've even switched off the Mobile network using the widget and the power button menu.. no luck. Only a reboot brings it back.
So then I even did the trick to get my PRI up to 1.40 and that worked fine. But no change in the behavior of 3G. When I reboot and 3G is working, it works great as usual. Just not sure why the switching no longer works. I even tried switching back to the rooted sprint stock rom.. same deal.
Anyone else having any issues?

yes, I have noticed this at times. Just happened to me. Failed connection when switching off 4g to 3g. Using fresh 3.2. But I noticed this as well on other roms. I had to reboot each time to get 3g working again. I also reset my data connection last night but it obviously didnt work.
I've been having issues with my 3G for the past two days. Similar story, I did and Nand restore and that is when it started.
I am getting an error code 67 everytime I switch from Wifi, 4G or even when I reboot to try and fix this. Usually if I let it sit it will come back, but the error message popping up is quite annoying.
Wish I had something more helpful to say, but I can just add that I'm having the same problems switching from wifi to 3g. Even after 3g turns on it will sometimes turn off again randomly and I will have no connection. I'm also running fresh. In addition my 3g signals are quite week. kinda a mess...
Weird. My phone did this today for the first time. The thing is, I've been on Fresh 3.2 for a month now, and I flashed the latest Baked Snack rom yesterday to test it out. It never did it while I was on Fresh, but today after turning off WiFi, it wouldn't connect to 3G for anything. No text or data transfer at all. After I rebooted it, it started working again, but my phone never did this while I was on Fresh.
I am having the same problem and I am using Fresh 3.2 as well. I did go to a different rom but then went back to Fresh's rom and that is when it starting happening to me. It will only pick up 3g now and then and even when it does my speed is super slow. Hoping someone comes up with a fix as I made my own post but no one seems to feel the need to reply to it.
Theories...
Same here. I'm on Baked Snack 1.7x
I know Fresh and Hero both use some of the same components. I flashed to Cyano and have had no problems with the 3G radio. It's very snappy switching on and off after wifi connects and disconnects.
I do know there have been one or two issues with the radio with people who are on the 3.28.651.x roms. (for instance, if you enable 4G then disable, sometimes it randomly turns off and on without you knowing until you restart)
So my guess is maybe the 3.28.651.x series is glitchy. You guys want to try going back to 3.26.651.6 and do some testing?
happened to me on stock. Had to reboot the phone to fix it.
This seems to be working for me today with no problems so far. I am wondering if a tower was down with Sprint putting up the 4g around my city. Will keep posted if it happens again but seems to be running like normal now.
This has to be network issues maybe the latest PRL.
Mine has did the same last couple days also on power on , it takes longer for 3G icon to kick in.
Signal flux has been occurring more then norm fast download - Upload speeds taking hit some parts of the day.

I am on 3.26.651.6 build and this was happening. I am no longer having any problems with this. I do feel this might have been a problem Sprint's servers were having. Seems like everyone started having the problem right around the same time.
It must be... Going to an older PRL didn't help, and there are a bunch of forum topics being created about this on other forums as well. Guess it's time to play the waiting game.
My issue is so bad right now even if I restart my phone, it doesn't even get data connection right away. 10 minutes waiting now and error code 67's keep popping up.
This just happened to me today. It took me awhile to connect the error statement to the fact the 3g didn't turn on after I turned off wifi. But I was able to press the 'data connection' button on the switchpro widget to turn 3g back on.

That is how I got it working a little bit last evening but as I said in my last statement it is finally working and has been all day. Not sure what the deal actually was as I did not change anything since 2 evenings ago. I am thinking that Sprint is doing something which is messing everyone up at one point or another.
Since yesterday my 3g has been randomly dropping and the icon will disappear as well. If idle the icon will vanish for about a solid minute, come back then drop anytime after 10-15 seconds. If I manage to keep a constant connection, the icon won't vanish. However it is horribly slow now.
This is my first cell with data and such so I'm not sure if this may be a naturally occurring 3g bug. It did seem to happen after a few days of several hours worth of shoutcast streaming. A few rom downloads as well due to my home net being broke too.
Been running jt's clean.02 and it's been rock solid. Tried flashing a few backups and some other roms from the site. I never flashed voodoo or a kernel either, just tried the modem update to make the di01 update complete. No change. This just suddenly started happening.
Any advice/help would be great!
I'm beginning to think the phone just decided to fritz out or something. Multiple wipes, permission fixes and restores. Only way to keep it close to functional is to keep pulling data.
I'm lost here and with no net and shady 3G, I can't get any good research done.
Sounds like a flaky radio. I'd try to get a warranty replacement, if I were you.

I;m sorry if this has been discussed before but I can't seem to find an answer for it. I have an Epic and it works great except for minor problems usually resolved by looking through the forums. Although my dad has the exact same phone and I put whatever Rom I am currently using on his phone so that he can have a fantastic phone. He has had Frozen 1.1, 1.2 and Randomrom 2.2. They have all been istalled with Journaling on. The rom will work fine but then out of nowhere he will have FC's and will not be able to make phone calls but can still receive them. Any idea what is going on? We have the same phone, modem and rom but he seems to have problems. The only difference I can figure out is that he lives in an area that has NO signal for any carrier and so his phone is constantly switching back and forth from Sprint and roaming which of course drains his battery like crazy. Could that cause the phone to wig out on him no matter which software he is running. Thanks for any help provided.
Do you have an airave? If not Odin back to stock to see if it works then root and flash again.

They do not use an airwave and I have done several odin's and reflashed and still the same problem. I've tried to see if he is doing something before it happens to slueth it out but he it seems to happen at random times. It use to be just tons of FC's but figured it was due to haing journaling off so I fixed that but now he has less FC's sometimes but now with the unable to mae outgoing calls problem. I'm just frustrated because I try to help my family with their smartphones and they have nothing but problems with them but me, the one who actually plays on his phone too much, never has any seriuos problems.
It may just be the No signal area. If there is no signal it can't dial out. If there is no signal for any carrier then you can't even try Roam Control.
Hi, I'm currently experimenting with TMT Rom 1.2 (been using Midnote since i first got my Note a month and a half ago, trying several versions)
I noticed something with all ICS roms I tried, data connection works fine until I'm in a low coverage area (mostly at work or home, big building where i can hardly get a signal) when I leave for/from work, as soon as I'm on the street, I don't get any Data Connection, with some modems i would even get a "not registered on network" when attempting a call, even with full signal bars
The only fix that gives me data connection back is to restart the phone, that works every time, sometimes by playing with the 3g/2g/auto settings, which also behave erratically (sometimes i cant switch from one to the other) i can get it to work, but most of the times I need to reboot.
Has anyone encountered this issue with ICS or even GB roms?
I have exactly the same issue, now running CM9.
I just can get back the connection by rebooting the note

It happens with me as well. Since using 3G data shoots up l2_hsic wakelocks, I usually switch it off while not using. Unfortunately, that toggle doesn't work after twice or thrice and I need to reboot to get my data connection back. Surprisingly, it never happened with me on GB before. I was and am using stock Samsung ROMs without root.

For me the issue seems gone for a couple of months now. No issues with Criskelo's ROMS or the latests versions of TMT Rom
