Do we have a list of changes? Is this the KIES that will give us FROYO ?

Every time Samsung release a new version of Kies people start dreaming about the release of froyo…. If that were the case we would be running Android 5.7 already
Spoke with 3 mobile uk yesterday.Impression i got was Froyo will not be released any time soon because its buggy.

can you give a link on new kies. now i'm download but see that old kies.
This might be REALLY bad news.
The reg hack no longer works ! If you change it and then try update it retrieves the info again from the phone and so resets it to whatever is on the phone
This means anyone who updated to the latest 2.2 Kies release are stuck with whatever product code they have now if they only want to use KIES
they seem to have more time working on stupid kies instead of the long awaited froyo... Freaks

Bad news? Power User still will be able to flash using odin, wich is apparantly better than kies at this, it will also prevent all users to "overtake" their servers while it's supposed to be in one particular country.
This is exactly what i thought

anytime you can un-root.. and seriously, do you believe that samsung FW will be better than custom one ? look at the htc users. Htc prepares much better FW than samy and the users are flashing custom ROMs...

Does anyone know if its gonna be worldwide?
Does Kies detects the area I am or it´s by the phone firmware? I´m asking because I have a i5801 purchased in the US, but its the Singapore firmware and I live in Brazil
I haven´t tried to flash a Froyo ROM or anything like that... is it worth it? (I´d like to see how Froyo runs, but I haven´t been very encouraged by the problems reported on the froyo firmwares released so far), is it better to wait for the official one (and of course the custom ones later on)?

[NEWS] Gingerbread update announced for Galaxy series including Tab

http://www.samsunghub.com/2011/05/16/samsung-announces-android-2-3-update-for-its-galaxy-devices/
Guess it's on its way. I'm wondering how the update will roll out to Wifi only versions or the tablets that aren't currently using a carrier.
Today i got a message thru Kies that i could update my firmware to gingerbread (although the message gave a series of numbers and letters). I tried to update my Tab, but after downloading, the installation of the new firmware failed. Could that be because i have my Tab rooted? How do I solve this problem. Hopefully, Samsung will push it over WiFi... If not, the good people of XDA will inevitably provide a ROM on here. You will either get it in a timely manner or have to hold your balls and ROM it (if you haven't done it before). Even if you have, it can sometimes be a scary procedure.
Short answer... Yes. Long answer... Above.
hmm any word on how far the update is? is it still only italy that got it?
Dont really wanna use odin to update our 120 Galaxy tabs (or the 300 that we are getting in ~1 month time).

I use sipgate with the sipdroid app to push calls over VOIP. Works well enough for me. Can send and receive calls. I am only on WiFi so I imagine, it'd work that much better over the 3G network.
As far as a possible release date? No idea... Their words are that they'll start mid-May through Kies in Europe and it'll feather out. Since Sprint versions don't work with Kies, it may up to Sprint to push the updates here (which may take a long while) or if Samsung is really aggressive, maybe we'll see it through them.
Since Kies is the main avenue of pushing it, I wouldn't anticipate it soon. May be worth following the Honeycomb ROM (DONATE TO THIS CAUSE) and taking the time to flash it. Then brag that you have cheap Honeycomb Galaxy Tabs for sale in your store.

I'm also curious about this, but perhaps it would be better in a new thread for people to post their country and a confirmation once it's available over Kies.

Official uk unbranded 2.3.5?

Is there any reason why vodafone and three have official 2.3.5 on kies but nothing for unbranded phones? Even the original SGS has it. I'm really beginning to regret getting this phone. Don't want to flash a Frankenstein package as would rather have a official release.

The most obvious question arises:
Why?
There's literally no reasonable or logical disadvantage to using one of the 'leaked' ROMs, since they are typically identical to the 'official release' ROMs in every way.
People seem to think that the official releases are magically enhanced somehow. In reality, the 'leaked' ROM simply becomes the 'official release' a few weeks later with no changes whatsoever made to it.
If the XEU ROM was leaked I would put it on my phone, except it hasn't been. As I said I dont want any Frankenstein ROMS. I just find it weird there isn't even a leak of the a XEU ROM yet Vodafone and Three have released theirs on Kies.

Yes I agree , the op is asking a question of why Kies has not released the rom for all phones. He is not asking about flashing. There are too many people that dont actually read.
My phone is unbranded and find this question interesting.
Waiting for official 2.3.5 on my xeu sgs2 as well. But im happy with the current 2.3.4 and not in a rush to get it
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I find it very strange as well that there isn't an official 2.3.5 firmware for unbranded XEU phones particularly when the vodafone and three customised firmwares would have been derived from a generic one.
I guess what makes it bearable is that 2.3.4 works perfectly for me and 2.3.5 doesn't add anything new apart from the blue overscroll glow which I'll rather not have.

It's not that I didn't read or understand the question, just that the question itself is very strange given that there's no logical reason to 'regret' getting the device when we have access to everything the OP wants already. There's no difference between 'official' ROMs or leaked ones other than the waiting time involved. In fact, the chances of the 'Official' Kies flash screwing up your phone are probably greater than they are with Odin.
The OP isn't only stating that it's odd that the 'Official' ROM hasn't been released via Kies, which I'd agree that it is a bit odd, but that he's beginning to regret purchasing the device because of this. I don't deny that reality, but I do think it's a trivial reason to regret such a fine device, particularly given the regularity with which leaked ROMs appear for the GSII compared to other devices. That's all I'm saying.
Some people like to use the official route I.E. Kies or at least use the ROM specific to their location. Sadly some others just cannot accept this. I have given up asking about officially released through Kies roms a long time ago because inevitably there will be a post immediately suggesting flashing. If I wanted that info I would ask for it.
You may wish to plug your phone in tonight.
I just did this to be told that the 2.3.5 update is ready and waiting for download (which I will do tomorrow when I have charged my phone)

The point to this is that it's unprecedented and curious that branded phones will have firmware updates so far ahead of unbranded ones, however I agree it's a strange reason to regret buying the phone considering there's very little between both fw versions.

I too dont understand where 2.3.5 XEU is....
Ive seen quite a few 2.3.5 versions appear over past weeks, but no XEU.
I agree that it is very strange for some uk networks to release 2.3.5 via kies before we have a leaked version.
Maybe ICS is coming sooner than we thought, so no need for 2.3.5 ... Lol
XEU is usually one of the 1st leaks available, so it is strange.

The Kies servers can only handle so much at a time. UK (o2) and UK (T-Mobile) haven't even had the 2.3.4 upgrade yet. I think these users would be a bit miffed if we UK (unbranded) owners got yet another upgrade via Kies (2.3.5) before they even got the older 2.3.4 we have enjoyed for several weeks now.

USA I9300 Jelly bean Update

Got the update. Not sure if update for your CSC is out yet. Should be out very soon though.
Why are you even waiting? Haven`t you learned anything from reading these forums?
Pick an official ROM you want from samsung-updates.com, download Odin3 and flash it.
This will NOT wipe your phone, it will NOT void your warranty, it WILL make you not wait anymore

There will never be a specific US region update for the International GS3. The same was true for the International GS2. You'll have to download another country's ROM if you want to update. It doesn't matter. Just set it to U.S. English and that's it. I'm on AT&T and the ROM's CSC code doesn't matter either. I recommend the latest UK unbranded ROM build XXDLJ4. There are plenty of ROMs on this forum based on this build.
So what you're saying is that the upgrade OTA is determined by the current region of the rom? i.e. where I purchased the device?
I'm in San Francisco now but I bought my device in the Netherlands.
Can I just upgrade to the UK unbranded without a problem? What about US features like installing Google Wallet etc.
Thanks.
Dude just download the faryraab stock official and inside the package is Odin
Its so super easy. I have an American purchased 9300 that was originally a Brazilian firmware. Now I am always on uk btu mainly because its the latest and greatest.
Go to the general section and look for the latest official and its right there. No need to wipe or anything
