Moxier mail if it is an exchange account, otherwise K9

Thanks for the reply. imma try right now

Tried them all, Touchdown is the best for me. It acknowledges Tiff2PDF which is a must for faxes that are generated by our exchange server 2003. Still not quite a Blackberry but close.

Oh, I guess I didn't read that thoroughly.
There is a way to use IMAP to connect to an Exchange server. Your Exchange admin might not be too keen on allowing that, though, as it doesn't let them enforce security policies (password, remote wipe, etc.).
Also- you might want to look at Touchdown or some other third-party Exchange client. I know you lose the benefits of using the integrated stuff but it might be worth it in your case.

"Better" email app?

Ok, This isn't so much SGSIII specific, but it'll be a major use for my new toy, err, phone once it arrives. The standard google email app in ICS isn't all that great (based on my CM9 usage on a tablet), and it completely sucks if you happen to be off-line, despite having tons of storage space available.
So, does anyone have some recommendations? Primary desire is support for:
1. Exchange (2010). Ideally the ability to go out and search for older emails not stored locally, actually download attachments ahead of time and store them (WinMobile 6.5 could do this, why not Android), search (localy cached) emails while off-line.
2. Support for imap with similar off-line search and attachment downloading
The current email app works ok except for search. I know I'm tained by some of the easy features in the WinMobile email app (can you tell I'm upgrading from a Touch Pro2 ) Of course, the benefits of Android have had me running Gingerbread on the TP2, but that doesn't mean I find all the apps great.
Check out touchdown exchange in the playstore.
Maildroid handles exchange. Not sure about all of the other stuff you are looking for.
I briefly used the HTC One XL email app and that was far superior to the one that comes with the S3. The biggest issue for me is that I am unable to select what folders to sync to my phone.

Maildroid only does WebDAV, it doesn't use ActiveSync which is the one most Exhange Servers use.
Touchdown or Moxier will be your best bet.

Thanks all. Taking a look at Enhanced email (there's a 7 day trial version). Looks pretty similar to the base app, so still feeling out the differences.
Any others? Another feature I've been hunting is a calendar viewer that will grab the attachments that people put into meeting invitations
Another vote for touchdown. I think it's unbeatable for exchange email.

Another vote for EE here... I have been suing it for over a year with great success.
What's wrong with the stock mail app on the GS3? While not quite as good as the one on the HTC One X, it's up there and everything works the way you expect. You can even set it to show images by default, unlike the stock ICS app. It's similar to the Samsung e-mail app in Gingerbread with a few subtle changes and has a way better interface than Touchdown.
I have never had issues with Samsung's email app.

One thing I noticed today was that mail that has already been deleted from the server is still retained by the email app. The app on the Nexus would delete those automatically.
I just tested this. I deleted 2 emails from my Gmail account through my PC Web browser and watched them disappear off of my GS3, right in front of my eyes. We're talking not even 1 second.

Not the gmail app, the email app.
My only issue with the email app is how slow it is compared to many others - including the GS2 email app. Not only that, but every time I hit the home button from the email, everything has to refresh on my home screen. Gets old to watch everything refresh.

I'm talking about the email app. I have Gmail set up as an activesync exchange account, so all of my mail is in one place. My work email account behaves the same. No issues.

I hate all of these. I am an extensive Exhange user and tried all but went back to stock. Each has it's strength and weaknes but the way Touchdown stores contacts and the outdated interface didn't work for me. I wish we had the Htc One email client and spell checker because it is far superior.
Is this an app than can be separated from Sense?
Aqua mail is nice
I think it has the exchange stuff you're looking for

I set up my S4 with 4 email accounts using the stock email program. I reboot my phone, soft reboot, and 3 of the 4 email accounts disappear. I have to set them up again. If I reboot again, they disappear again, and I have to set them up again. Definitely messed up.
I am using POP3, 1 go-daddy email, and 3 verizon.net accounts with my fios account
Anyone have ideas?

Email

My company has put some block on our Exchange Server preventing emails to come down to "unothorized" devices. I tried a few third party apps and somehow they work but as expected the stock Samsung email won't. Is there some sort of mod or hack I can do to get the stock email to work? I'm kinda hooked on this airview gimmick. I can still get my email with Emoze or Touchdown but I really like the stock app. Any ideas?

I don't think this will happen for a few reasons. First, the source code is not available for modifications, this means that they would need to build a new app from scratch and try to integrate airview (another closed source application). Second reason is that falsely reporting behaviour of an apps is morally ambiguous and many people won't help with it.
I've seen an app that does essentially what you are looking for; Falsely reporting implemented security policies to an exchange server, this was done on a galaxy nexus (or maybe it was a nexus s) and someone had re-written key parts of the the app source code then compiled the APK.
Touchdown works because it's capable of fully implementing Exchange security policies that your native app may not be capable of providing. I would assume the same for emoze.
I would take a serious look at what you are doing, By going this route, you are violating your work policies and may be putting your job at risk.. is this risk worth having airview? I would recommend using touchdown or emoze and live without airview.
Yeah I guess you're right. This was not a problem for 6 years.. Now all of a sudden it is. Love corporate America

It could be a bunch of things, might be as simple as updating the exchange server and the new default policy is more secure.

Chances are they are blocking exchange activesync from the server for un authorized devices. This is a server side setting. It might work via pop but in my experience if u block a device in exchange from using EAS no app that uses that protocol will work.

Also on stock and mint jelly at least the stock app is capable of working with exchange 2007, 2010, and 2013. I have tried on all 3 personally. I manage exchange for our corporate environment.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
It wouldnt be called KNOX if you could easily break through the protection
If touchdown and other apps work then I doubt they are blocking per device. Have you asked what the policy is? Samsungs EAS has a lot of options and if they let in touchdown I see no reason to block GS4. I know when the GS3 came out there were some tecnical issues my company experienced that caused connectivity problems but they did not block one model of android.
Idk it's weird.. They said as of Saturday no more emails.. And it stopped. But Emoze works fine
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
Exchange security can block your device.
If you want to receive emails on your phone, your Exchange Admin will have to make an exception for your phone.
I'm just confused how Emoze and Touchdown still work but stock doesn't

Most likely those use an internet-based connection like outlook web and outlook anywhere do. They can block that as well, but they are probably most concerned about pushed activesync connections. I bet the company still lets you check email over the internet, right?
Yes.. You can still log on to webmail. I think it's ActiveSync they put the Kabash on
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
No big deal I'll just use Emoze.. Works fine, has Push and has a decent UI. Probably a good idea to not get sucked into all these Samsung gimmicks anyway. The new Motorola sounds pretty bad ass and if HTC comes out with the 'two" next year and it has a removable battery, it's bye bye Sammy.

[Q] Push email on stock Rom unrooted

Dear friends...
One of the very few disadvantages of this fantastic device is that the stock email app doesnt support push for more than one hotmail account.
(or windowslive or live etc)
Appart from the main account, the others use manual fetch. (Only the time periods for fetch can be adjusted)
I've tested a number of apps and the only one that seems to be working properly with push and no problems is Touchdown HD.
The problem is that this app is a little expensive (after the 30 day trial)
Any other recommendations verified to be working?
Please keep in mind that for the time being I don't intend on rooting the device so all suggestions should be for the stock phone.
My device is the international version.
Thanks

I use outlook.com app for hotmail (official microsoft email app).
I syncs everything and gives you push email. However I dunno if it supports more than 1 account.

Wow! I just read the comments on the play store and they are horrible. I just remembered this is why I didn't download this app when I was looking. Someone even mentions that they blocked his account after some confusion. A bit of a gamble this one....
