ok ive seem to have run into a little bump in the road here
i did a clean install of the rom i was using
task29 and all
i reinstalled lcd density as the defualt for the rom im using is 240 and set it to 190
like i had done before
but now most of the apps i use are only using half the screen
which before they were perfect
so
should i reinstall the rom again then install led density and set it up then install my apps or just uninstall my apps redo led density then install apps

No need to reinstall anything, its a side effect of lowering LCD density, but it can be fixed, here's how :-
goto the market and download Spare Parts.
In here theres a setting called 'Compatibility Mode' Untick this and then reboot the phone - apps will then work full screen.
Hope this helps!
Cheers
Paul
just for info, you can edit the build.prob in the .zip (for cw roms) or in the system.img for nand roms before you flash. worth remembering next time you change/reflash.

Hello XDA
First post here, altho am an old XDA searcher hehe.
I just flashed a new ROM, [18.Sep.11][ZIP]★★★★★HyperDroid-CM7-v3.0.1[a2sd][CyanogenMod7 LEO 2.3.5][seader_R5]
Now, the good thing is, I can use my small standard battery pack again as it doesnt drain it that fast.
Bad part is...
As I backed up most off my apps from my previous ROM and imported them here, I cannot update them anymore.
And most apps I wana download just cannot be downloaded because of incompatibility (my behind!)

Now am stuck with retarded alted apps for twitter, FB and many other apps, or just not using them at all anymore...
It there a workaround for this issue? Maybe downgrade the market (which prob will auto update again...)
I might have seen a post with some one saying "you got to edit some .ini file in your root with a android notepad" but seems like I cant even install a simple Android notepad, so therefore quite anoying...
Edit to that part:
I did manage to get a rooted combination to mod the build.prop file
This is what I changed:
Code:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
But, it did not work...
Thanks in advance, keep the trolling for yourself or your little brother, just share what you think is a fix for this, I will thank you for it.
PVTD
EDIT 2: Current solution is on the 2th post.
I did find a fix who takes a bit of work, but I hope to get some one to make a decent full fix for it
Here is how I did it:
First, locate the Android Market in your apps list and select it.
You will find a button saying "Uninstall Updates", use it.
Once it's done, open the Android Market, press "I agree" and notice the app will auto close.
Act fast, as the app is downloading the updated market in silent mode.
What you do is open a rooted file explorer. Any should do.
Go to "root/cache/downloaded/ and delete everything inside.
Then it should be done, as that worked for me, tho not sure how long it would take to update again.
Hope this works for you

The Fix
You'll need Root Explorer
Open Root Explorer
Open the system folder
Long hold on build.prop and choose open in text editor
find the line that says ro.sf.lcd_density=
Change the numbers from 192 to 160
Save the file
Reboot your phone
Go to application management
choose the All tab
find market
choose it and then choose to force stop
then clear your cache
close out of file manager
reopen market place
you should now be able to get to the apps that you couldn't!
The rom on my hd2 comes with the new market by default...at first I thought the device incompatible messages were due to my 192dpi but even reverting to 240 it still showed same. Is there another solution?
Side note--There is an LCD density changing app so you can change on the fly with out having to go through all the file system stuff. Also the LCD density change seems to work for some and not for others, so to me it's a bust.
Now for the market-- The only thing that I have found to work short of altering the market itself, is using the market on my computer and pushing to my phone. This of course is a hassle and requires you to keep track of when updates come out for the apps you have.... But it works. I most recently had this problem with widget locker only seconds before I had it uninstalled it from my phone. Went on the web and pushed it to my phone, boom, installed.
Changing the LCD density didn't work for me.. I just reverted to the old Market app to allow installation of some apps.
I had same problem... here's how I fixed it. Change LCD density to default 240, then reboot. Then go to settings-applications-manage apps-market. Under market push clear data. Open market and agree and that worked for me.
I was getting a yellow banner in market that said "your device is not compatible with this item"

For americandroid, you need to change the density in startup.txt, then reboot. No need to modify the build.prop file yourself as the change will get overwritten on reboot by whatever is in startup.txt

Thanks. I have confirmed changing the LCD Density & deleting the Market app data is/was necessary on my rooted Photon 4G. I tested 160, 192, 200, 210, 225 (my original), 240 & 264. Along with app cache, sys cache, & memory dumps for each density. The only thing that worked for me was LCD Density 240, reboot, delete Market app data & system cache.
Immediately after & without rebooting I was prompted for a new agreement in Market & able to install previously incompatible app.
Now I need to figure out how to get Market to register Chomp as an installed app without having to delete & reinstall. It was installed by downloading the apk from their website due to this alleged incompatibility.
Weird thing is Market shows app installed when I search it. However it does not appear in my apps section of Market. Any ideas? Perhaps I should clear the Chomp data too? Lol

Switching back to GB won't solve your problem. This is due to the market app. The pro version of LCD density changer says there is way to spoof the market to think the LCD density is at 240 (which is the one that works).

Is that actually "LCD Density Modder Pro"?
My density is/was already set at 240.
Ok, I want to make sure I have this correct....
I have to buy an app that fools the Market into thinking I have the density set to the value that it already is?
Before I go to that trouble, I want to verify that the issue is truly with the LDC density and not with the model of the phone? I ask because, even after changing my build.prop to remove all references to HD2, and changing to model to "vision", when I go to settings/about phone it still says my phone is an HTC HD2. (complete steps I took found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23726581#post23726581)
Example: I went to [draw something] Plonga's official site via my phone (after repeatedly verifying the changes to the build.prop, rebooting, and then clearing the data from Google and the Market) and that site still verified that I was using an HTC HD2 and wouldn't let me d/l directly from the site.
Anyone else have any ideas?
I used MarketEnabler apk from the market to solve this problem when changing the lcd density did not work. The one that worked for me was vodafone ie . You can get the codes using MarketEnablerCodes apk.(both free apks)
Of course these apks have to be "compatable"..lol.
I back-up a lot and have had these apks for a while..if you need
Hi All,
There are already threads for this problem, but all possible solutions are not working
My apps are not showing anymore in Market.
Clear cache is not working
Clear cache and reboot is not working
Clear cache foreclose and reboot is not working
Market dokter Titanium does not work
I always get a agreement of de market but again my apps are empty.
Did a full wipe and reinstalled ARHD 6.3.2 then restoren my apps by Titanium
A see all the Apps in my Apps, but again later on... everything is empty
Somebody have same issues?
Cheers,
Peter
If you find an app you have purchased before, does it allow you to install it? Or does it say its "incompatible" with your device?
It is allowed to download it and install it. And i have no new phone... so maybe my account is corrupt at Google side?
Try the following, if you have superuser permissions.
In the file /system/build.prop find the line starting with ru.build.fingerprint, and replace symbols JFM to JJ7
If this not works, in the same file find the option ro.sf.lcd_density=167 and change 167 to 160. You may set another value, eg. 240.
After saving the changes you should reboot.

My ro.build.fingerprint is like:

Do i replace GRJ90 then?
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 this is my line

Better first try to change LCD density to 160. I'm not sure about fingerprint in non-Russian roms
Btw, are the permissions for build.prop set correctly after making changes?

I use a build.prop editor this saves the file and correct the permissions.
Even uninstalled the market update did not work
IT is working again:
unimstalled the update of market
Clean data from google services framework.
Then force close
Clean data of market
Then force close
Reboot
Now it seems to work....
After update of market app the problem is back. Now i try the same steps as above...
After the steps above without remove market update i got my list back...
But after a change from portrait to landscape the list is gone again....
Seems like Google developers "fixed" something again. Try to ask their support
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I discover it was a App problem. When i did a full restore of Titanium the problem was there... When i did every time 5 apps restore i use for long time the problem was gone...
I do not know that app gives this error.. because i delete all other apps what i think it was the problem and even do not use them anymore as well..
It is a update of something .. so my problem is solved.
Also, Market Fixer can help to solve the problem. Root required!
Market fixer did not work... have try that already.. but it is solved now...
Official fix for me...
Requirements:
Market Fixer app installed
Faith and patience
Intructions:
1) go to manage applications in your settings, tap view all and force close "Market" (don't delete any data)
2) while still there, also delete "Google Services Framework"'s data and force close it
3) run "Market Fixer", tap analyse market links, select all of them and tap remove market links ONLY
4) go to "My Apps" inside Android Market and make sure there's a Retry button on the screen telling you it couldn't communicate with the server, if there isn't, repeat step 2 and re-check
5) re-run "Market Fixer" to be sure the links didn't get recreated, and if none appear, reboot
6) go to "My Apps" as soon as you boot completely
7) if previously bought apps appear on the list, go to the free apps category and install a new one (this will recreate your market's database with working information)
8) check "My Apps" one last time, all apps should be there now
9) if you want, reboot once more and go to "My Apps" again to make sure everything's in working order with your "My Apps" list
10) dance the macarena, shoot a few hoops or just enjoy your victory like i did
11) make sure you don't re-link those evil apps to your market so you don't have to redo all of this
***As you could've noticed, the idea behind the first five steps is to keep the market from recreating the links or having to clear the data for Google Services Framework many times (both happen when the market's still running in background).***
hi all i installed the rocketrom v7 this morning and well ive been playing and messed something up. i installed ROM Toolbox pro and i wanted to see if i could get dungeon defenders second wave controls to fit the screen correctly so i can play it, so i edited the LCD density setting from 320 to 280 and after the reboot went to make a call and the call dialer isnt full screen any more its less due to the hack.. ive not even tried the game yet but i went back into ROM Toolbox pro and fount that i cant set it back at 320 as the slider only maxes at 280
please advise me on this, is their a solution without wiping rom?
You have root I presume - just edit /system/build.prop - the "density" might be in there twice - change both.
You can edit it using a shell (su root first) or using adb:
adb remount /system
adb pull /system/build.prop
<edit>
adb push build.prop /system
<reboot>

ps is their a way to set PER app density.. ie have a single app run at different settings, i would like to keep 280 but seen as stuff like dialer/spen/email ect doesn't work well with it keeping 320 default but a few apps like games with a lower value of 240/280 that would be epic for me ?

Also, if you have custom dpi and want to use stock dialer there is a setting in accessibility to enable one handed operation. This will rescale the dialer pad to full usability again.
V 0.3 of paranoid does indeed have a couple of glitches with GPS (although I upgraded from v0.2 and don't experience it], but v0.2a is totally bug free and well worth a look. In the latest couple of pages on the thread there's a link to someones dropbox for the download. Highly recommend it!

Hard reset should have corrected the setting, not sure why it didn't. If you're on stock kernel, don't try it again in case of hard brick. I would suggest flashing again with pc Odin. There have been some people who've managed to create a flash able zip with stock buildprop file and stock dpi, but you'll have to search for that, not sure if it was ever achieved, worth a go.

Hi,
I have just changed density on my Nexus 4 with LCD Density Modder and now I can't boot :-/.
My N4 is rooted and I have CWM. I tried to go to CWM and wipe data/Factory reset and it didn't work.
How can I fix this?
Thanks for your help.
Re-flash the ROM.
How?
go back into clockworkmod and click "install from sd card" and select the ROM zip file.
Ok, but how can I transfer the rom to mobile? Debugging mode is disabled :/
Problem solved. I did it with NEXUS 4 TOOLKIT (option 9)
So, we can't change density on Nexus 4? Or have someone managed to do this successfully? How?
I have just edited build.prop manually and it works.
But Google Play Store doesn't show every app :-/. I have 280 density setting. I have tried to fix it with LCD Density Modder, but i can't install GSF. Does anyone know solution that really works?

play doesnt work with nonstandard dpi and so do many other apps. dont do this to your poor phone. paranoidandroid was originally written for this purpose, it started with hybrid engine. every single issue has been cleared out for you. things work, no compromises, nothing crashes, nothing to small because you choose size on per app basis, size is separate from the layout which you pick from a list of actual UI's an app offers, you treat the phone interface in the same way as any regular app, set it to this and that size and UI without trashing anything else, you control all this with a handy little panel thats giving you the changes you've made on sight. i lost half a year of my life to help getting android get over this build.prop nonsense - make use of it. it has found its way into a couple of roms, so flash something else if you hate pa, but use hybrid engine for goodness sake, there is no alternative that can compare to it. :highfive:
ran into the same problem as op, running liquidsmooth rc2 with franco. everytime i changed the lcd density to anything other than stock and rebooted i got stuck in a boot loop and had to go into twrp and wipe cache/dalvik just to boot. changed lcd to stock and no more boot loops. sucks because i really like running 280.
Weird problem appear suddenly.

did you change your dpi settings? it does that to me only when I change the dpi.
Yes, but I changed it back to 420.
Still the same.
You should change to 480, not 420.
Try it.
Root only eh

how can I change the camera dpi only?..
Using Xposed Installer > Download > App Settings
After that, enable the module.
Launch App Settings
Your camera should be fine after that.
So, the question is, after change to 480DPI, is normal right? So I assume not hardware problem, only DPI problem.
Ty, I perfer to reinstall the rom.
