Hi

Just wanted to say hi, I registered not too long ago and have been reading for a few weeks. Still have soo much to learn. I just got a G2 to use on Wind Mobile. My goal is to root it when I've learned enough from the information on here. This site is like an android Bible to me, thanks guys
Welcome!
Excellent choice of phone btw, this is a very good forum and there are a lot of bright people here. As always, and i'm assuming you know, the search button is your best friend! The G2 has come a long way from it's root kit days (looolool) and i'm sure it's ride of fame wont end for a while.
Enjoy your stay dude!

A Special thanks to all the Devs out there. . .

I just wanted to send a simple, humble thanks to all the Devs out there who spend countless (and manytimes thanksless) hours updating the Android OS's.
Without them most of us (if not all) would be stuck using the providers locked down and bloated OS -
thank you for all of your hard work
thank you for answering our many times ignorant questions
Thank you again -
Nut
I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks yall!
Yes thank you guys. A new hobbie I've picked up that my wife hates....sweet life.

Indeed. I chose android solely because of the development community. I didn't just blindly grab any phone I could, I did a little research and knew it had to be android and it had to be HTC. And thanks to the support and quality that devs put into these devices I will be a dedicated HTC/android customer for as long as both exist.
A big thank you to everyone who puts in work, especially the cyanogenmod team.

I agree, the devs, all of them! Have made owning an htc aria a very nice experience, I have been taught so much about linux, it's insane, droid platform coding too! This is the greatest phone/community combo! Thanks to all, regular members too!

BIG DITTO to this, exactly the reasons I came over to Android and in particular HTC.
I was completely unprepared for how much work has been put in by the devs and community - Bravo everyone and in particular the hard work of the modders!
To be honest... I bought this phone back in October bc it was NOT an iPhone which was very important to me. I didn't even know what android was. Now I'm addicted and my girlfriend hates my phone . Thank you so much devs for giving me a hobby. Idk that I can really be thankful enough for what y'all have done for me. My whole life really. I was just kind of wandering aimlessly before but not anymore!
Go!

I have to agree with all the above posts. The development effort here is nothing short of amazing and the results are outstanding.
My humble thanks to the devs for all their hard work.
Same here. Good work guys.

This is my 4th Android device, and I have to say the Vibrant had the best of everything. I am very grateful to you all and hope to help down the road!

There goes another. As with all that have departed that have been an asset here you will be missed. Not sure I've ever personally interacted with you but I've always paid attention when I've seen your user name in a post or thread, always good information. Good luck we'll still be watching.

And all of that was a result of THIS community. I meant it, I consider myself lucky to have been a part of it. The pasture is not always greener... I can already tell I am going to miss the OG Vibrant - the 4G lost 15GB of internal memory.... that is absurd. I do not use a FFC, but the download speeds are about double... so I wont complain too much.
Thank you all for the kind words. I meant it, let me know if I can help.
Also, the Vibrant 4G guides suck - think I have some work to do
Your loss to the vibrant community is as big as a dev leaving. Thanks for all your help to me. You and your guides helped me so much. I don't think there is anyone here that tried to help and be as positive about it as you. Congratulations on the new phone. God bless bro!!
sad to see ya go s15274n, i remember it was your noob guide that got my vibrant rooted to begin with, and the rest was history, i know you'll help guide that section to its potential like you helped this one.
Although I have not personally interacted with you, have seen lot of helpful articles and guides from you. Makes me sad some of the most vocal guys and active devs are leaving lately. I guess it was just a matter of time. Vibrant being my first smart phone and still so much in love with, the feeling is kinda weird. I keep myself up-to-date with all the latest in the world of mobile phones and nothing has made me think of upgrading from Vibrant so far (except the GS II international). Wish you the best with Vibrant 4G. Stop by once a while if you have important android news to share, okay?
Thanks a lot for your help. Greetings
A sad day indeed. Thanks for all that you did for us

Best Wishes and Good luck to you. You will be missed.
good luck with the Galaxy S 4G, and I hope it treats you better...

Special Thanks!

I wanted to thank XDA and all devs for their hard work. I am a libertarian and you definitely gave me freedom for my phone. Dont know which thread this would go under, but again thanks for making this site and just want to say, HTC HD2 > all, and GO PATRIOTS!

Please donate the HD2 to Xylograph, he is one of our best developers and had touch screen problems with his HD2.
Should I post a link of this thread in one of the dev threads of him?

If Xylo would get this donated HD2, would be really nice

Being named on the XDA Portal is a good indicator that an individual should be the developer that you donate your HD2 to. "Thanks to XDA Senior Members Xylograph and securecrt, and XDA Recognized Developer Rick_1995, it is now possible to run Ice Cream Sandwich with full hardware acceleration on the HD2." http://www.xda-developers.com/android/hardware-acceleration-support-for-hd2-ics-roms/
Xylograph has made on average 1.5 post per day since he became a member in 2009 and has almost 7,500 Thanks on nearly 2,000 posts - a ratio of 4 Thanks per post. He posted his first ROM only at the end of last year (porting from Desire to HD2 to make a "rom as small as possible"). He has started 16 threads. It was his Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) that took the HD2 community by storm with over 1 million views.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441462
He continues to make innovative contributions with ParanoidAndroid for the HD2 with nearly 500,000 views.

http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...exus-sgs2-international-note-hd2-and-nexus-s/
The innovation continued with Native SD earning him another well deserved entry in the portal: HTC HD2 Android ROMs Reinvented: Introducing NativeSD
The cherry on the cake has been his PACman All in 1 HD2 ROM combining PA, AOKP and CM10 features.

Hi folks,
Since I got a couple of private messages about my absence lately..
I just wanted to let you all know that I am fine, still alive and still have my HD2 though it's acting up more and more lately..
It seems the famous 'non responding touchscreen' issue is slowly coming my way..

Thank you for your generosity. When you get your Galaxy Note 2, could you come back after a while and let us know what you think of your choice please.

If anyone would kindly cover shipment shipment fees & a location to ship to, I'm willing to donate to this dev.
I'd also like to make him aware of this. If anyone could help me pass the information to him that would be great. A confirmation in my inbox should do fine or a post on this thread.
Also, I do plan on giving my Galax Note 2 a good thorough review. I'm still debating on rooting it.

That said I hope such an offer won't raise the 'user-expectations' very high, since I won't be getting much more time for android development in the near future, but I'll try to keep us having new stuff every once in awhile..
Anyway, it would be great to get a well working HD2 because mine is getting more and more unresponsive
