[Q] How to change BLUETOOTH MAC Address? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi all,
Both my HD2's are running a DesireHD build, and both have the same bluetooth MAC address, which means that devices paired with phone 1 will want to pair with phone 2 and it is really annoying...
Does anyone know how to change the BT MAC address, even if temporary?
Thanks!

I don't think it is possible without switching kernels I'd very much like for me to be wrong, because the incomplete Bluetooth stack on CM7 nightlies is driving me crazy. I used to be able to use A2DP with my laptop.

It is in the kernel its in the zimage of the rom, cause I have a kernel thats incompatabile with zip and nand roms that has the fix, but no one will help me figure out how to decompress this damn thing.

How about just spoofing it, albeit temporarily... is that possible?

Thanx, bookmarked, but about 5 mins before reading your post, I found the source online, and I found the person who fixed the Bluetooth stack. Now I am going to PM the person that actually fixed this in the kernel, which funny enough isnt the kernel builder. Let's see where I get. Keep you posted.

to change the bluetooth mac adresse directly on phone very simply

AD-HOC WiFi on Nexus One!

Hello, when I was on CyanogenMod 5.0.7.1 I was able to connect to my Ad-Hoc WiFi connection just fine. I am now on CyanogenMod 6.0.0-N1-RC1 and I can not figure out how to get this to work. Does anyone have any suggestions or idea's on how to make this work? I have tried to edit the wpa_supplicant.conf file and change the ap_scan line to ap_scan=2 and that still does not work.
Really? i thought it wasn't possible, well at least from the stock rom it isn't.
It used to work with CyanogenMod 5.0.7.1 but not on the latest. I'm hoping for a fix so I don't have to downgrade.CyanogenMod 5.0.7.1

I need this feature very much. please post your experiences here if u have any luck in doing this. i heve cmod 6.0 RC1 too.

[Q] Learner Question

I see that my X5 has the B160 firmware thing in the phone status. Does that mean that i can only use B160 roms? Or can i use any of the others as well? ...also same with the kernel (not too sure what a kernel is) but can i use any of them also?
Thanks.
no, you can use other ROMS, B160 is just one of them. You can also use any of the kernels out for your x5.
Oh thanks for the reply.
So i have the B160 Rom that is posted in the development section atm. But my wifi has never connected to my Zyxel router ever since i bought the phone. And i want to try installing this thing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043238
So do i just install as instructed? or do i have to uninstall something first?...sorry im so noob.
I dont know much about this stuff but i want to try the thing that ive linked to because someone in that thread says "Has anyone noticed some improvements on wifi stability with b136? On 135 there was like no chance connecting to zyxel with wpa2, but with 136 it seems stable even with wpa2..."
So it seems it fixed their Zyxel problem i guess. So i want to try it ^^

I reported that with my zyxel, but i celebrated too early. I got it connected only at the first time after flashing, but not again... But without security it seems to connect fine. I use only MAC filtering to stop any unwanted connections...

stock miui 4.0

hi there. i have a question. is there a way anyone can port totally stock miui v4.0? why? because i need stock wifi driver. it supports ad-hoc, but with this new aurora wifi driver i just can't and can't astablish connection (i used the guide and still nothing -.- ).
i was on cm7 for a while but it is buggy (.35 kernel). so can anyone help me? i know porting whole rom is a big deal, so just to complement old aurora or stock miui driver in rom would be ok. anyone?

I already tried using the system's wpa_supplicant file from MIUI but with no luck...
Maybe we need more files from it... I don't know! I will make some more experiments though...
yeah i tried that but no result. i really don't know why. first i tried with password, then without it. same thing. i would really appreciate it ^^

thanks guys
I'll have a look at them
do u mind if I ask some more question ?
I guess you said no
brdnacer the version which you are using now is stable ?
i mean how is the condition of battery or transition or something else ?
Im asking these question because I have a limited internet connection
and I can't try whatever I want
I'm so sorry
i am using this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562661 . battery is so so. lets say 7/10. games and android itself is running smooth, basicly nothing to complain about but ofcourse you must have official 2.3 already once before installed.
and about this limit... go for coffee or cola sometimes to a bar with wifi, and use it as much as possible + i have password for my school wifi a few of us managed to get password. and now we can use internet for free even at school
thanks for special advice
as soon as possible(when I go to a cafe or sth like that ) I will try it but its confusing my mind that it's said that this rom will have no more updates :| but as you say, I guess it doesn't need anymore
anyway, have a good day
niether one of those 2 will get updates

I have PA Gapps 3-08 running fine on recent Cyanogen Mod 11 port for the T330NU with no issue..
However the PA GAPPs developer (TKruzze) no longer makes GAPPs packages..
If you have the latest PA GAPPs, it should work..

W, hey okay i add mtp to my todo list though i don't own a computer that mtp would actually work on, so it'll be guesswork.
Also now that sound is sorted, i'll take a look at the magnetic cover thingamawhatzit. Though i like to turn my screen
on and off the old fashioned way. :silly:
You folks don't expect too much more, I do have other stuff I have to get to.

Sure, i've never had a magnetic cover, the basic idea is closed screen off, and open screen on right ?
also can you test out bluetoothiness, keyboard, i've never done audio streaming so i don't know much to that end.

Z,
hi, i have no issue but, i also maintain my tab regularly with sdmaid, you may need to clear out battery stats.
Also, are you running the rom with or without the kernel update? Lastly how many background processes do you
have running?

Z,
hi again :silly:
you can run in terminal
ps
also you can also connect via adb and run adb shell, then as root [su] run
powertop
i say to do that one through adb because it doesn't display correctly and is kind of unmanagable in the tab's
terminal window.
Also try modifying you performance settings, on the updated kernel you should be set to ondemand/cfq

Okay thanks looking forward to updates for this rom. Also I was wondering.. For the ROMs for the t530 tabs like the cm12 one they now have. What would need to be done to get it booting... I heard all the ROMs with the same board need is a working kernel.. Idk if that's right but if it is would the kernel for this ROM get the cm 12 ROM booting or does it need a new one?

For the most part that's somewhat true correct, however i haven't bothered because the roms are being packaged with the block setup
as opposed to the tried and true way and i just don't have the patience to unpack that setup and repack it.
To be truthful i think i've gotten addicted to this stuff in a slightly mentally unstable kind of way :silly:
And as such am running multiple projects at once, so if you want to chip in on trying that approach, downoad one of the
sm-t53xx builds, get it unpacked and repacked cm11 style and link me to it, a respectable site, not 4shared or dumbass gator
or any place like that, and i'll see what i can do. my current attempts with bliss keep breaking at camerawrapper issues and gps issues.

AOKP Rom, Why No Mention On XDA?

I just found this repo for AOKP;

Anyone know about this, if this is Official from Android Open Kang Project?
Probably because all seem to be nightly versions Nightlies are usually pre-beta stuff, which MIGHT be full of bugs, it needs some further testing

If i remember it right it was one of the first Oreo custom ROMs here, if not the first. Flashed it again 2 weeks ago and it was one of the few ROMs which still uses selinux permissive. For whatever reason, but it's very snappy and stable with a good choice of features. A few fixes and I would like to go back to this ROM.

Wouldn't it be easier and safer just to flash a stock rom back, since it has the original persist.img? I just flashed Stock Oreo back and I have my original MAC address back, so I'm assuming this is all ok now?
What would mess it up? I read Stock Rom only uses persist, and custom don't...
Hmm
