Hi, guys.
First of all, please notice that this is not the typical 'Hi, I'm new, could you please explain to me what I didn't want to read in the howto?'.
I've been testing Android on Blackstone since the very first release, where nothing but the UI worked. I managed to make Movistar data work in each distro it was possible, read everything and searched everything, and the matter is this:
Movistar Spain 3G data is not working in most of the android distros. It worked in some pre-XDAndroid releases, and it worked in only one XDAndroid (January 18, I think, but I'm not sure). I'm not the only user with this problem (all Movistar users are affected) and it looks like it's an specific of Movistar.
Some times we complained about this, we were required to provide an adb logcat, but I don't know how to do it... i searched, but found myself unable to 'do that'... as far as I know, any Movistar user did it.
But would like Movistar users to tell their experience here, and try alltogether to get a solution.
Thanks,
At least you read my ADB how to.. right?

I did, but found it too diffucult, or there was something that I didn't understand. I'll try again.
Thanks.
It seems to be the same problem Vodafone NL users have. The only time 3G worked was couple of months ago, with one of TuxHero's builds by entering the apn manually in the startup.txt. With the xandroid releases no one the dutch Vodafone user has managed to make data work...
I have also tried MANY MANY MANY setups on my all the android versions i have tried and havn't been able to get Movistar Spain 3g on any of them since tux's....
It's quite frustrating.......
Anything i can do to help i am 100% willing to test!
same problem here no data with vodafone nl . so vodafone nl and the spain movistar both have the same problem
I´ve tried many setup but no works 3G
Blackroid v0.2
There are a version of Donut 1.6 (Blackroid v0.2), the 3G is ok but is very unstable

is can that version be used with the newest zlimage etc ?
I have to admit i have the same issue with Mobistar belgium.
Worked with Tuxhero's build, but none Xandroid runs 3g.

Yes, can be used. But is unstable too
when turn on the telephone, there are errors... but one of them is:
init: cannot find setupmodem.sh, setupmodem disabled
more or less...
Anybody knows this problem? perhaps is the 3G problem...
I have tested the last release (4th feb) wich has some files from nexus one that could fix data problems but still nothing...
I havn't lost hope though!!!
Keep up the amazing work!
I hope too
hmm is somone already know whye this problem is coused ?
anybody did, as far as I know. but it would be nice if an españolito could make and provide the logcat. I wasn"t able to do it...
Please mind some people have this issue with other operators in other countries.
In Belgium, Mobistar for exemple; in Netherlands vodafone ... Seems to be a proxy matter.
Read this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584559&page=114
Thanks, jeanfrederic. Find some interesting things.
First one, Movistar 3G data includes a proxy, but you can override it in winmo with no problem (well, one problem: push mail won't work). BTW, it doesn't work on xdandroid, neither trough the proxy nor without.
Second, Movistar 3G, as VodafoneNL, also worked with tux's android.
I still think that It's something not related to the zimage, but the android itself.
Héééééééééééééééééééééééy, I can now connect to 3G with the new Mcdull build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622776

Hey bro, could you pls give me an IMEI from an UK version TG01?? Because mine was brought in Hongkong, cannot use my IMEI for downloading the English version update, thanks miles away.......
Here you go

You need to replace the SDDL of the rom by the tg01_sddl+.exe from this FTP
thanks man,but by the way, what do you mean by replace the SDDL?do you mean I should change the flie name or....?
just delete the old "sddl.exe" (from rom folder)
and copy\paste the new "sddl+.exe" (from the ftp) in your storage card with the prg folder of the rom..

I understand that use of SDDL+.exe is now considered obsolete since there is a hardware method of entering bootload available... following links refer:

TG-01 Flash Unlock
Hello.
Could someone advise whether flashing the TG01WP-WM6.5-Generic-IT.zip as described in this thread (two pin short) gives a no-sim-lock phone?
Would flashing Orange TG01WP-WM6.5-Orange-UK.zip onto a Generic ROM then give an Orange branded phone with no sim-lock?
Thanks in advance - Looking to save a few Pounds and get up and running quickly!

I doubt it. Mine was an orangeRO locked, flashed on italian ROM with sddl+ and still orange locked.
Not able to install the English rom
I tried installing the English version downloaded from the Toshiba website.. it says the variant is in valid... can some body help me.
Did you paste the due files at the SD Card root, or inside a subfolder? Trouble could come from that...
The files are on the root of the SD Card... It says SD download failed...
I suppose you used sddl+ as indicated...
By this way, "SD dowloading failed variant is invalid"; was not this the error message when french user tried to get an UK Rom, for instance, on Toshiba Website, and Orange did not want their customers play "rom travel" game? I am not sure I remember well about this; did you have to give your IMEI at some point?
Yes i Used My IMEI number to download the toshiba website to download the english rom
Guys if you have any TG01 buyed in EU you can pud any TG01 ROM Spaish,English,Italian etc... But if it's a Japanese or Asian TG01 don't play with it.
To change rom just pud in the SD /prg/ file and SDDL+ ne one from stepw and run it. If not the same system but we don use SDDL we use a short pin. You can find everyting on forum.
So, trying to test my understanding: (with bits of informations here and there, on this forum and others, I'm getting rather confused)
There would be different "kinds" of Tsunagis, depending wether they were sold in EU or Asia. (hardware? Toshiba programming level?)
Among european TG, due to commercial treaties with Orange, some (French, English, Helvetian) TG would be Orange branded, and sold Orange locked, while Italian TG would be unbranded?
So, if you have an Orange branded TG, still Orange locked or unlocked, you cannot just change to any European WM6.5 Rom just dowloading it from Toshiba website, where you have to "tell" your country giving your IMEI. (you would stumble on that "invalid variant" error message)
Instead, must use the stepw way, refered to in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629586, (or http://www.adryan.evonet.ro/pocket pc/Toshiba TG01/ROM-uri/), or the "short pin" confused: whatever that might be, my poor english don't allow me to understand much about it)
But this would be "dangerous" for an Asian TG, though, unless I missed the information, eekthecat did not say for how long he had been using his phone before he tried, and if he knew for sure his TG was a well working one and not a disastrous bugger (at least some french tsunagists had many problems with theirs, and gave up for another device after some exchanges that did not improve the situation, the fourth proving sometimes worse than the third!)
Wish things will be easier with cooked ROM...
meerau if interested in changing ROM, PM me and I'll help you.Je peux t'aider.
Hi guys I'm new here..just registered after spending most of last night reading ROM developments for the TG01 for the last 1 year or so. I gotta admit that instead of wanting to move away from TG01 (given all the difficulties and misadventures with the set..from other posters) I feel even more compelled to keep the one I recently purchased..crazy right!?!
Anyways I have some info and some questions..will start with the question:
1. I just purchased a TG01 (unbranded) from Italy. The set is running WM6.1 and is brand new..still in the box. I would like to change the ROM to English and the only reason for that is that I prefer english despite understanding both languages...other than that I have no desire to go further and install UI variations of other phones (HTC, etc) as I really see no point in creating problems for myself..what I gather from most posts is that alot of users apply mod's which temporarily seem fine and balanced BUT eventually lead to some sort of problem which is then modded thus solving the initial problem but creating a new one..so on and so forth until phone in many cases dies. (Comment: I am confused why many users flash their ROMS to English when they can't even speak or read English at a basic level?!? Once again I dont see the point..someone enlighten me ...ooops back to the question...So..is there any suggestion or help I can recieve in changing the ROM from Italian to English? Should I do this after the 6.5 upgrade in Italian or? Suggestions please.
2. Toshiba Asia recently started realeasing TG01 to certain Asian countries and one that may be of interest for a generic English Language ROM is Malaysia. I recently picked-up a TG01 in a store in Kuala Lumpur and it was a locally certified and guaranteed set with no 'Telcom Carrier Branding'. It was unlocked and not an import phone from other TG01 markets..and the ROM was in ENGLISH!! This TG01 came preinstalled with WM6.5 (not 6.1) but I had no intention of buying it as I already have the new italian set and more importantly it costs more than 500 Euros vs. the Italian one I bought for a net 287 Euros.
Maybe this can be a new and more reliable lead on how to get a generic ENG ROM instead of playing doctor frankenstein with 'carrier branded' ROMS in English.
Looking forward to hearing your comments.
Ciao
Waddup =D!
im a novice with this "smartphone fever". i had a nokia 7500 for 4 years so... ya know XD.
Im posting this, cuz i really want to update my rom version. I've been reading the threads on several foruums 'bout this topic, but i didn't find any answer. So, i fear to lose the operator's services, o sim incompatibility if the update go wrong.
There isn't any posible legal or official update cuz in this hellhole country (venezuela) the technology & updates on this devices are very few, (most are in blackberry platforms). I know there's an update to WM6.5 in some countries, but here is not the case. so, chaging my rom version will affect the operator configuration o the sim configuration?
Sorry if there's any phrase written in Indian english, my englis is not so correct .
Thnx for tha help.
Other thing, someone know 'bout a QR code reader for snap? i've googled serching one but it was useless :S'
thnx for tha help
See ya

I will buy it from Vodafone Shop, But only have one concern, Is the phone Locked on Vodafone or Sim Free ?
Thank you and best regards
It's SIM FREE.... I'm using mine with a Telecom Italia Mobile SIM inside...
Bye
Don't worry is totally free Sim, i am using it with H3H network, i need only to change the setting for MMS and VPN , but is very easy to be.
Bye
And, if you don't have Vodafone as carrier, you can also flash the phone with the flash you prefer!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578
take a look here)) I can post a more detailed flashing procedure if you want, I did it on mine and now changed flash (to don't have Vodafone customizations on a TIM sim card....)
I currently live in Italy and I'm planning to buy an Optimus 7... the problem is that currently I have 3, which does not sell it...
From the posts above it seems I can buy any version of the phone?? I've seem some interesting prices with the TIM version... And it also seems the only place selling the "EU FREE" version is redcoon.it, veeery expensive!
I am a little worried of buying an expensive new toy, only to try to flash it with the "EU FREE" rom and brick it... this MMS and VPN config can be done without flashing?
Many thanks!
Leo.
flashing is not so dangerous procedure, you find all the information and file needed here, there is also a really detailed guide how to flash made by me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578&page=4
anyway if you want to stay on TIM fw you can change the XML file that contain all the carrier information using the MFG menu doing this
call ##634# open MFG application and then enter 277634#*#
under Engineer menu select other settings, then set network profile.
Here you can choose the XML file with the proper operator settings.
Enjoy)))

But would there be a XML file for 3, given that the phone is still not available at this carrier?

Ok, great! So Optimus 7, here I go...
Right now it is 380 EUR on MediaWorld online... interesting price for 16Gb of memory!
So, just bought it!
To reflash or not to reflash, that is the question...
flash! flash! flash!
well, joke apart, if u have particular needs do it, that's not that dangerous
IF u need a really detailed guide in Italian, I can give it to you, I written by myself.

Hum, I think I will flash it... I will not stand these alice links floating around eheh (I know I can remove from the front page, but still...)

Or is a even more complete? If it is, then send it please
Anyway, I'm downloading the EUROPE OPEN firmware available at the other topic...
yeah, you got it)))
just I don't understand if u speak italian or not because you live in Trento but you have a different flag...
Rider,
reading carefully the detailed guide on the other topic, I saw that you said:
"Ti consiglio di rimanere sul firmware dell’operatore che utilizzi, il firmware “open” a me non è piaciuto e non è sembrato neanche stabile, tantomeno open"
So... now I don't know if I should flash or not! What did you mean with the fw not seeming "open" and also not stable?
Thanks!
Leo.
Edit: just saw your previous post... so I do speak Italian, but not that much... for me is easier to write in English, but I could understand you guide!
Anyway, I'm from Brazil, but I live in Trento! ciao!
on that firmware I had problems with MFG phone built-in application and the carrier is "OPN_NEU", it is clearly written, in my really humble opinion NEU is new in german, so that sounds like an operator that left intentionally open the fw customizations....
Maybe I am just saying a load of bullshits but I really didn't liked the firmware, personally I passed from Vodafone to Telecom Italia Mobile because TIM is my operator... my advice is to use the firmware that you use on your SIM card, so you ensure a trouble-free operation of your phone with your operator.
Use the "open" only if u have particular needing, like changing SIM frequently.
Yeah, but my carrier is Tre... no official firmware for it (at least yet!)
Btw, a weird problem here: I tried to open the MFG app with ##634## and it says "This command isn't supported"...
any help on this?

Hi folks,
I have a P8lite unlocked and have always kept it in English with Portuguese keyboard and all..
I have moved from Portugal to Romenia and since then bought a Vodafone card as I wanted to use the same network.
The problem is I want to install Myvodafone from here and it says that this app is not available in my region and for the life of me I can't figure out how to install it or remember how can I bypass that or temporarily change it so I can see my pay plan in MyVodafone.
I tried to google it and all but maybe I'm asking the wrong questions and it has no results.
Can someone help me change my region or figure out how to install My Vodafone from Romenia so I can keep track of my data/payment plan ?
Thanks in advance
My Vodafone app is maybe locked for Romania, i think the best is for you to reset your phone and swich it to Romania this way My Vodafone app will work. If not just use *100# or *123# for info about your account. So... learn Romanian language.
AFAIK its not needed to reset your phone and switch to romanian language, as the phone language is just used for the GUI. Try an apk downloader like evozi (google it), that way you can bypass region restrictions (doesnt work for paid apps tho).
