I flashed the DK28 update.zip file and was wondering if I can simply flash the Di18 update.zip file to go back?
There's a Q&A section just to let you know.
You would have to odin back to di18.
Sent from my Epic 4g.
There are also instructions in the wiki on how to odin back to di18.
Every time I ODIN back to DI18, even in pure stock, once my gmail account finishes syncing it wont let me download apps from the market. Anyone know how to resolve this? I run ODIN to DI18, do not use any backup software, and start everything from fresh. So yes, I do a wipe of my SD card as well. It's when I sync my gmail account that the market no longer download. I can tap on "download" but it simply wont take. If I go back to DK28, everything works fine. If I ODIN back to DI18, again, the market stops working. The entire time, I work from clean installs with no use of backups. Anyone, help?

Ok i was running Froyo Macnut R5 by eugene373 and i decided to go back to fusion so i odin back to stock with justanothercrowd pack. everything seemed to go fine but after the boot image and everything i just get a black screen. with the bottom buttons glowing.
What can i do? any suggestions?
Thanks.
Before someone replies with, "search the forums," I'll try to be somewhat constructive:
I had the same problem. You might have to flash Eugene's "Froyo that doesn't brick" with Odin, then immediately after, flash the stock Vibrant ROM with odin while reformatting your internal storage (only reformat when you flash the stock ROM). It probably wouldn't hurt to wipe cache and data with stock recovery between flashing either.
This means you'll lose SIMS 3 during the reformatting if you haven't already, so try to back it up some how if you can, or search the forums (I responded to one) for how to get it back.
Don't forget to remove your SIM card and external SD card before flashing with Odin.
There's a thread somewhere with detailed instructions on the whole froyo downgrade method. I didn't bookmark it when I followed the instructions, and I would have to reboot my computer into my Windows partition (I'm on Ubuntu) and search through my browser's history. In that time, you might be able to find it yourself.
thank you for your help, ive gotten it recovered now.
Just a quick note, you will always get Sims 3 back when you ODIN to JFD. It is a part of Stock Rom.

You get the Sims launcher back, but if you repartition because you flashed a Voodoo kernel and forgot to remove it first, you lose the Sims data. In that situation, if someone tries to launch it, they'll get an "unable to parse package" error.
Edit: this is the fix I was talking about in my first response. That's when you repartition and lose the Sims 3 data.
I'm sorry, but I have ODIN'd back to JFD many many many (did I mention many?) times and I've always gotten Sim 3 back while re-partioning. I'm not sure what you are flashing but maybe you need to grab another file. And no, I'm not just talking about the icon. Press the icon, it installs and it plays.
I just did a full flash to stock JFD and JI6 today from Bionix Fusion 1.1 using re-partition because I was having many issues. If my phone wasn't charging with the power off (reconditioning) I would show you.
Edit: I think that is the ODIN file I have been using that you linked to. I don't know. I just have JFD and JI6 saved on my computer for my frequent uses.

That's interesting then. All I know is that I repartitioned and flashed back to stock with ODIN and then I couldn't open the Sims anymore. I read on some other forums that repartitioning with ODIN erases a partition where the Sims installation files are stored. Obviously, simply flashing with ODIN won't erase it, but repartitioning the internal storage does exactly that... so I assumed that's why it wouldn't launch.
Installed Viper rom, with root. Phone boots up fine, but It wont go out of airplane mode. Anyone have any ideas where I went wrong.
I thought I followed the directions.... Is the only way to fix is flash back to stock?
Thanks!!

did you flash the dk28 modem before flashing Viper?
I did.. but I think this is where I went wrong. I wasn't sure how to flash just the DK28 Modem without linking a tar with it. So I flashed the DK28 modem with a 2.1 tar.. How do I flash the DK28 without anything else using ODIN?

Hmm... I'm pretty sure it should have worked either way... as long as you ended up with your baseband version ending with dk28. I'm not at my computer at the moment, but there is a modem tar file that gives you just the dk28 modem, without actually updating you to Froyo.... but I would think you should have been good either way. After Odin, did the phone reboot, and did you have dk28 at the end of your baseband version? Sorry if I can't help more... lol.
I've seen your problem happen before when the dk28 modem flash didnt take. Just do it again. You don't need another tar to flash the modem, just the modem.bin.
So when using ODIN, just select the modem bin and install?
>>You don't need another tar to flash the modem, just the modem.bin.
Why not just flash the dk28 tar?
Clean install; and will allow your GPS to fix
He already has viper rom installed and just needs the modem. If he odined dk28, then he would have to convert to ext4 and install his rom again. If he just flashes the modem, then he can go on his merry way.
Well I just tried flashing the modem again.. Now all I get when I try to power up the phone is the screen comes on with a small icon of a phone with a icon of a computer with a yelllow triangle with an exclamation point inside of it.. This doesn't look good.
Darn Noobs anyways.. Any ideas on what I did, and how I can get it back?

I'm just taking this from the ACS thread here but it looks like you need to use the modem and pit file. There is a big link in the first post.
Their instructions then simply say
1. Download from the first link and use the included files to flash the modem (check only "Auto Reboot" on the left, use the PIT in the "PIT" section and modem.tar in the "PDA" section on the right.)
Hope this helps, if not - please ignore accordingly
Edit: Well I just saw you have a new problem. I think I would just flash with the DK28 Extended tarball found here. This will be a full odin flash, modem and all and you'll have a fresh DK28 that is prerooted and ready to go. Then you'd just need to do install CWM 3 and then flash your ROM of choice. I recommend Midnight, but Viper is popular too.
Thats what I just downloaded and tried to install with Odin. Now I cannot boot into recovery or anything. It just comes up with an icon of a phone and computer on the screen with a yellow triangle in between them. I pulled that battery, put it back in with no luck.

I've seen that screen before.... so it's fixable. I think the key is gonna be if you can still get into download mode, and get Odin to work. I once had to run Odin 10 times til it finally worked. Somw people say to remove your sd card when using Odin... but I don't know if that's the key. Also, are you following the directions as to the buttons on the left, and leaving auto-reboot checked?
Here's a question: what is happening when Odin stops doing what it's doing? Did it run thru the install and say 'pass' at the end? And in the dialog box, did it say (something like) succeed:1 fail:0? At that point the phone should reboot into the new system.

Its odin time now; no other choice. So go ahead and hold 1 and power to boot into download mode and flash the dk28 tar.

I had to do a bunch of things, and don't know what finally made it work for sure but my theory. . .
I was able to get it to boot into clockwork by plugging it into the charger. But even after reseting everything it would still come up with the screen I describe before.
The way I believe I got it back into download mode was to take out the battery, hook it to the USB cable and then hold down the # 1 with the power button. Could of just been a conicendince though.
Anyways... it is fixed and working with ViperRom.

I rooted my fascinate, flashed CWM with Odin, and installed one click lag fix. Everything was working fine for a few days, but today I started getting a lot of force closes, and then it just stopped booting. I can't even boot into CWM recovery, it won't access the update.zip file on the sd card. It won't boot to the OS, and just reboots to the stock recovery whenever I try to do anything. I have backups on CWM, but I can't access them. I'm trying to restore it to stock, and start over, but as I said, I can't access CWM, or get to the OS at all. Please help me get this thing running again.
Thanks,
Anthony
Flash one of the All in One Odin packages from the Development forum and you should be good to go.
And never touch OCLF again.
Any particular one I should be looking for? I was looking around, but the only one I saw had a busted link, and I couldn't download the package.
Downloading the DI01 and DL09 Odin packages. We'll see how that turns out. Use PDA option in Odin correct?

DL09 flashed with Odin. Seems to be working great. Thanks for all the info fellas.
I noticed lately that when I switch phones and activate back to the epic, that I have to odin back to di18 in order for the data connection to come back up. After the flash and reboot, I have to quickly switch to wifi or the auto update of ec05 will bogart the data connection too much.
It seems that prl and profile updates don't work in di18 (anymore) and never did work in ec05. If I activate the epic, updating the profile and prl are steps that I take to get the phone properly provisioned and activated and since they don't work anymore, it really makes things a pain to accomplish. The new flashes for stock ec05 and the root/cwm 25xx are good and I dl'd them but haven't used them yet.
I thought about steps to shorten this procedure by odin di18 then one click 2.5.5 then nandroid the fresh rooted install. I did the same for ec05 from a stock di18, then let the updater do its business then reboot and one click then nandroid. Another problem is I can't seem to go from one to the other with restore, even with clearing data and factory reset and clear dalvik. I always get stuck in a reboot loop into the stock recovery. Another pain.
I know one answer to all this would be to stop switching phones, but why? I had a similar answer with one of the customer service boobs when I had problems activating a phone myself. He said most people don't have multiple phones and switch between them often. That may be a legit answer but I still think it is bs. I won't get into a rant about that...
My last wondering thought is, once I get either di18 or ec05 up, rooted and cwm with 25xx, do you see any problems with using rom manager to update cwm to the 3xxx versions? I'm asking this because most of the posts I've read concerning 3xxx, have to do with changing the filesystem to ext4. I didn't know if those are tied together or not. I tried going that route and didn't have any luck so I went back to rfs.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Clockwork Mod 3.x.x is only for EXT4 file systems. No matter what CWM3 looks for EXT4 at first recovery boot, if not there it will start the conversion process. So if u want CWM3 you have to deal with EXT4.
Ah ok. Thanks
I am trying to restore the phone to stock so I can take it back to Verizon to be warranteed, but when I am odining, it just hangs at the modem install. I selected PDA and used a DI01 .md5 image to restore it. Has this happened to anyone/does anyone have any ideas/advice?

I would recommend going back to stock DL09 instead of DI01. When you go back to stock DL09 your phone will likely OTA to the current stock build which is ED04. That way when you go back to the store you will be on the most current stock build. Put this in PDA section of ODIN:
http://adrynalyne.us/files/stuff/CI500_VZW_DL09_ECLAIR.tar.md5
and make sure of the following:
battery is out the whole time
use usb port in the back of the computer near the motherboard
use the usb cable that came with phone
make sure you have the correct samsung usb drivers installed
If it's still not working after all that try turning off your antivirus program, that can sometimes interfere.
Try heimdall...i did the dl09 back to stock with the phone I just sent back and it OTA to ed04

If its just the modem then you are fine to just unplug your phone and try again. This happened to me earlier going back to dl09 after being on cm7. Just unplugged and tried again.
