Hi,
i write from Italy, sorry for my poor english.
I have a SGS I-9000 black screen of deep.
Let me explain what I did to break it.
At first, the 3-key combination worked.
By Odin JS5 I installed.
Then I installed One Click Lag Fix and Superuser Permission 2.2.2 to root permissions.
I installed everything and everything was working with a benckmark 2200.
Then I wanted to install a new ROM but I needed the kernel Speedmod.
To apply the kernel I downloaded SGS kernel flasher 1.5.9 from the Market, I copied speedmod-kernel-k13a-500hz.tar in my sd-card and I started the procedure to install the kernel.
The procedure has done its job, but when the cell is restarted did not want to leave and the 3-key combination no longer worked.
At this point I've got a USB dongle that contains the phone in download mode.
With Odin (1.0,1.3,1.7) can terminate any process of flash but everything stops at reboot the screen with the S and then turn off everything and all the keys are locked.
i tried:
Eclair JM9 with
Re-Partition ok, s1_odin_20100512.pit, CODE_I9000XWJM9.tar.md5, MODEM_I9000XXJM4.tar.md5, CSC_I9000OXAJM1.tar.md5:

la procedura รจ andata a buon fine, ma il cell si blocca.
in PDA PSbl_stockJPU.tar.md5 for bootloader, but nothing.
How can i recover my SGS?
Thanks,
Max from Pisa
jpc repartition should work again

Thanks.
The ROM JPC has enabled the Recovery Mode so I could have done a general reset and the phone is finally broken.
Grazie.

Don't panic! The most important thing is the fact you can get download mode. If you haven't already instal Odin and download some firmware from samfirmware. I use JP7 as it has the modem and csc files in it. Read the guide on there about using odin and flash that baby back to full health!
I'm mainly curious about this voice you heard, not sure if flashing the firmware will solve that, but I'm sure certain medication could!!
Thanks for the good news
The voice is just voodoo lagfix notifying you how the conversion of the filesystem is going. Reflash and you'll be fine

hey, im trying to reflash to stock rom, but...odin got stuck at factoryFS should i unplug it?
also im useing
PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA:CODE_I9000XWJM8.tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_I9000XXJM4.tar.md5
and CSC: CSC_I9000OXAJM1.tar.md5
and checked repartition
help?
the phone is warm....and its not like stuck, its just no moving from there and its been like.....30min D:...should unplug??? or leave
When you check repartition it isn't supposed to finish. Unplug, enter download mode again and flash, this time without repartition.
Sure it should finish... unplug go back to download mode. Bfore u open odin again close all running instances of kies and nps

It shouldnt. When you REpartition it just repartitions and requirs a restart before further flashing.

Its generally a good idea to ask for help with rom in its thread. From what I heard (dont use it) there are problems with 8.1 versions.
ight i flashed 8.0 and its working again ..thanks

Mine allways finishes and the phone boots on the rom i flashed. Could it be that it only finishes on 2.1 roms? Since i only repartition when my phone is bricked and i allways used my stock rom for that

I flashed darky's 8.1 too and got very strange problems with it and the phone did not go past the SGS logo, it kept giving me the force close vibration, no matter how many times i tried to flash JPY with or without the 512 PIT file and repartition it still would not work.(yes i made sure all partitions were back to RFS)
After flashing an older ROM JP6 with the 803 PIT everything worked fine.
After this i could flash JPY (no PIT no repartition)
there seems a few problems with darkys new 8.1 ROM, the best way to solve this is to flash darkys 8.0 ROM and then upgrade to 8.1 NO WIPE, there seems to be issues with the WIPE version. but the NO WIPE version is fine, im running it now.. 2 days almost and no probs whatsoever
Hi guys I hope someone can help me, I rooted my S and did factory reset ready to install darkys 9.3 rom, installed cwm and CF-Root-XW_OXX_JV1-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1_NO-CWM.zip that cf file, everything went ok with odin and when the phone rebooted it wont get past the Galaxy S screen, cant get into download or recovery mode and when I hold the power button it goes off and then comes straight back on, is there anything I can do to sort it, I am on Virgin, 2.2.1 JPW, thanks for any help
Did you came from another custom rom before flashing Darky's?
Have you disabled any lagfix before flashing?
Hi m8. Stock and no lagfix applied. I have been in touch with Virmin and they are couriering a new phone to me tomorrow. Thx for the reply.

No 3 buttons combo = JIG
Always Check that you have the 3 B COMBO, before flashing anything it's on a steacky thread!! (i think admin should change the color of the sticky thread).
Will they charge you for a new phone as you have a custom rom on the exchange .
jje
No 3 button combo m8.
It is on stock m8 after doing factory reset.
GOOD .

Lagfix
I also encountered this. But my problem was that I had lagfix enabled when flashing a new kernel. Just reflashed the previous kernel and disabled the lagfix. Flashed the new kernel again and everything was good.
I also found this when updating from JM7 to JS5, directly.
Seems it was a patience issue. That screen can take a long time after a flash.
Once also it ended by a shutdown after a while. Reflashing to JM5 then to JS5 through the 3 combo buttons solved it + repartition

Man, hope you get/got your new phone but you fu**ed up. Your problem stands out like dogs balls. You've even put it in capital letters.
1. You flashed CF ROOT JV1-NO CWM.
JV1 = Gingerbread. You were on 2.2.1 Froyo. Of course it won't boot up.
NO CWM - means exactly that. What's the purpose of installing cwm/recovery then flashing a kernal that ends with NO CWM?? It doesn't support it. How were you going to flash darkys?
Man, not knocking you but you really need to read instructions before doing **** like this. Any 2.2.1 (maybe even 2.2) cf root version would have avoided this.
2. You say the phone was stock when returned because you factory reset. You forgot that you flashed a custom kernal after that based on firmware that hasn't even been officially released yet. The reason it wouldn't boot. So, it aint stock. Shouldn't matter anyway as Sammy will just force it into download mode and reflash.
3. Since you initially flashed with Odin, then 3 button method was working before. So, the lesson for us all is: jv1 kernal + froyo base = brick. Jig sellers aren't complaining.
I'm also with virgin but using docs 2.2.1 (or CM7 2.3.3 depending on the time of day). If your near Melbourne I'm more than happy to help out with your new phone.

3 button combo must have been working initially as he flashed kernal with odin. It was the kernal that busted it.

Are any of those stock rom's you are trying, or are they all Darky's roms?
Flash a stock rom, hopefully that will get you up and running. After that, format your sd card.
couple of them are stock, none worked.
downloading a march 2011 stock firmware from samfirmware now, aswell as EZBase rom
If darkys is a 2.2.1 based rom then you need to flash to that base first.
Try a stock 2.2.1 firmware in odin with all 3 files and tick repartition. I use jpu and always works.

MY fix for broken phones is .
Use Odin flash Eclair with pit 512 and repartition checked .
Phone works flash base Froyo .
Phone works you can now customize as required .
Choose a rom this time that does not kill phone .
jje
thanks fellas, will try that.
i've flashed about 5 ROMS and tryed repartion and none have worked, will try a eclair, gotta go download one
ok, JPU did not work. 3 files, re-partion and 512 pit
oh dear
When you say jpu didn't work, did the process actually start in Odin and complete?
If not, just reboot download mode again, close and restart odin and try again.

yeah it said PASS, just got the stupid white reboot thing.
JE3 ( 2.1 ) halfed worked, it went into recovery, dont some **** then booted. then i got something like "kernel panic pload" with all this red writing ????????
i think that might be cause i got a 2.2 kernel flashed?

yes, happened that to me too. If it;s not starting anymore, than you must rewrite it's bootloader with JTAG...JIG won;t help. The point is, when you tried to go back on 2.2.1 you should first flash the bootloader with heimdal. With bootloader updated you shouldn't have any problem flashing back JM8 or something
sorry for you

Edit. Just read you can not power up. Go with Jobiza's post.
Flash just a kernel in PDA ie voodoo or speedmod k13. Nothing else and auto reboot checked. After that flash away.
This happened to me and I tried different combos for hours till this method and it worked.
Good luck mate.

Don't know did you tried it, but if you are able to go to Download Mode, download JVK with bootloaders from XDA, start Odin check Re-Partition and Phone Bootloader Update select filef from new FW connect phone and it should do the magic I hope.
If not http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1018620
Maybe last resort?

hi,
info : bell GT-i900m
rom : darky's 9.2
so heres my problem. my phone crashed yesterday so i removed the battery and then when I launch it back i got stock in the Darky's boot screen. I was also unable to go to CWM to update to the last version of Darky's rom so i used odin to flash the original 2.1 and now whatever version of the firmware i try to flash on the phone install successfully in odin but i get a "Galaxy S GT-9000" that appear in loop every 5-10 second until i remove the battery. I still have access to download mode....
anybody have a solution ? should i install a stock rom and go to warranty ? or should I just trow it 2 second in the microwave so they dont see that i installed costum rom ?
Sounds like corrupt and faulty movinand. Send it back for warrantee. Don't even worry about what rom is on it, it's a hardware fault. I sent mine back with a half booting custom froyo with speedmod, they didn't care. If you want to be safe, just flash a stock rom quickly. Don't microwave it...
Sent from xda premium app on i9000m.
thanks a lot i'll send it to bell tomorrow
Can you boot the stock 2.1 you installed through Odin?
Flash jpc with repartition.
Flash jl2 on top. If that still doesnt work, then its most like the good ol' faulty chip.

Flashing the JL2 on top/after JPC is done WITHOUT repartition!!! just clarifying that, learnt from reading on here and helping a couple of people with them, lol.
(the i9000m's don't like repartitioning and flashing done at the same time, needs restart between them.. not a clue why, they're "special", lol.)
Flash Boot and spl.bin with heimdall. This is The solution.
It is definitely your bootloader.... flash jl2 firmware but there is a fixed one somewhere here on xda as the one from samfirmware is missing dbdata. Worked like a charm for me. (I also have it on my laptop somewhere pm me and ill find it) then you should flash superoptimized kernel or speedmod kernel via Odin with reboot unchecked. You should have recovery back. I've been through this issue and spent hours trying to get back to normal.
I have a few files to get you running if you get stuck....like I said just hit me up with a pm
