I just recently got my Desire Z and I realized my phone is not syncing with my Google calendar. I tried searching but can't find a solution. I'm on Android 2.2 (1.34 Bell).

just happened to see your post, even tho I have a different Android phone. have you gone into accounts and synching, and made sure your calendar synching is still enabled. otherwise, when my Gmail isn't synching, I have fixed it by going into my apps>manage applications>running apps., and clearing the data in Gmail and Gmail storage...... it wipes the data in my Gmail on the phone and re-synchs with the Google server, and then it starts working normally. I imagine it is the same for the calendar.
now if it doens't synch back up right away, then it may be a problem connecting to the network, or whatever else, but it should work. just wanted to warn you that it WILL wipe your calendar data from your phone until it synchs back up. hope this helps..
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I did that but it didn't work. I think it's not syncing properly but don't know how to fix it. Maybe I'll try a factory reset and see how that works.
oh damn, ok, I hope that works. I just tried mine, and it seems to be synching ok. are you on a stock or custom ROM?

Still on stock rom. I haven't rooted yet.
EDIT: The factory reset did the job. Thanks. Was hoping I had a way to fix it without reset so I don't have to set up the phone again.
ah ok, so the whole factory reset did it then. glad to hear that at least.

Hi All,
I'm running CyanogenMod 4.11.1.1 (but have been having this problem since 4.0.4). My G-mail sync is semi-b0rked. It never updates anymore, even if I manually select the "refresh" option it doesn't update. The only thing that works is, if I go in to Gmail's settings, select "labels" and modify the # of days to sync for, it will magically update. So, I've been manually toggling it between 3 and 4 days of sync time just to get it to update whenever I'm expecting a new e-mail, but it's quite annoying that it stopped working on its own.
My guess is that some library or system file related to gmail got nuked during the cyanogen upgrade, but I've upgraded to several other versions (and even tried restoring a nanroid backup) but gmail still isn't syncing.
Yes, I've double-checked all the settings and everything's set to sync properly (I'd never disabled it in the first place, either).
Any hints on what I can do (I've tried wiping) to get this to work again would be greatly appreciated.
Go in to Settings>Apps>Manage Apps, find GMail and GMail storage and tap the clear data and clear cache buttons for both. Reboot.

Cheers mate, that did it!
I'm actually having the same exact issue. Manual syncing works fine but the phone refuses to sync automatically. The only piece of advice I've found is clearing the cache for Gmail and Gmail Storage. I've done this and it has no effect. I'm running Cyanogen 4.04 stable. It's driving me nuts and makes this phone pretty much useless for me since I rely on it to receive dispatch e-mails. Any other thoughts? I'm ready to just say f it and go back to a stock ROM.

Are you clearing both data and cache? That has always fixed this issue for me - and I've had it on even stock ROMs.

Did you clear both the data and the cache or just the cache?

go to your settings>sd card> at the bottom hit the reset button..it says it deletes your info but it hasnt not once .. it just clears everything.. try it
Yer mine comes and goes, tried a few Hero's, stock cupcake/donut ROM, cyanogen 4.0.4 thru to 4.1.11.1
Works for a few hours, stop working. Found gTalk works fine, but the Market will only work if gmail is syncing properly. usually will work every 2 days or so, for 4~20 hours... really really strange.
I'm running a custom ROM but it's a stock ROM, with Darchstars GodMode overclocked kernel. Also, I'm using Launcher Pro and not Sense. My problem is that for some reason, my Facebook contacts will not sync... I'm using the stock method for syncing contacts (Account and Sync; Facebook for HTC Sense)
Thanks

Mine hasn't been working either. Running stock 2.1 with launcherpro.
Swyped from my Sprint Hero via XDA app.
Facebook sync is down. Google it. It's a problem on there end not ours. If u were synced then it works. If ur trying to start a new sync then its down

You can download syncmypix (it's free). Wham, bam, thank you sir
Go to Facebook->Application Settings and remove HTC Sense. Then delete the Facebook sync from settings and add it again. This might fix it but I'm still waiting for it to sync.
Nevermind, didn't work.
It is working for other androids. It seems to only be a problem with 2.0+ syncing.
When I first got my phone (Vibrant) on 7/15 it worked fine then it didnt give me updates so i tried removing then re-adding facebook to accounts and sync and it no longer works, even tried doing a factory reset. Still nothing. So it went from working fine, to not working for some reason.

If you re-added your account or did a first sync after it stopped working, it won't work. If it was already working before it should still work.
I take it it's still broken. I just installed Fresh Rom, and it still will not sync my contacts.

Yep, HTC has said to try doing one of the following:
1. Try adding a city and state to your current job in Facebook.
2. Try deleting your current company in Facebook.

Doesn't work either.
I just got mine to synch up. Might want to give it a try now and see if it works for you. I went about it a round about way but it is working and Friendstream is showing content from facebook again.

How did you get it to work? It isn't working for me.
I guess I am not as lucky
You know this is pretty sad but I can't seem to figure out how exactly I did it. I went into a contact under People and was messing with the picture somehow and it gave an option for facebook. Signed in from there. Since I did it there I have been able to remove my facebook account from accounts and sync and then add it from there.
Edit:
It's working for live updates but doesn't seem to work for synching contacts though. My list of Facebook contacts is blank when I try to link an existing contact with a Facebook contact.
You can use syncmypix from the market. I'm using it as a temporary workaround.

Yea I found that today. It works pretty good.
Started working again about 5 mins ago. Finally.
Yea looks like they are getting it straightened out. Just noticed a little bit ago that my contacts were syncing with facebook again.

This just started happening on Friday, I've already missed crucial emails. This is the latest version of Gmail. Data & Synchronization settings are set to push. Nothing has changed on my phone. Any ideas??
Have you tried removing then adding back your account?
I have, I even removed Gmail's latest update under App settings but that made it not work at all. After reapplying the update gmail only works by manually refreshing. Or by going to Settings/Accounts/Sync All. I can always to a fresh install. Just baffled at how this happened out of the blue for both my gmail accounts. Running stock 2.2
try Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, find the Gmail app and clear Data. It worked for me.

If that doesn't work, you may have to do a factory reset. If THAT doesn't work, call vzw and get them to send you a new phone.
Ended up wiping it. Thanks for possible solutions. Wiping fixed it. Whatever it was, cost me a few hours of reinstall and reconfiguring. love it.
Anyone else notice in the past couple of days.. that the stock gmail app isn't marking read emails as read? So, for example.. when I get a new email and check it on my phone, the gosh darn email that I just opened and read remains unread. Then when another email comes, my phone shows that I have two unread emails. Then, the only way to mark them as read is to actually read them on my computer.
Anyone else?
This happened to my wife before. Go into Settings -> Applications -> Gmail and wipe the data and cache for it. You will have to re-signin then everything should re-sync and start working again.

Im having the same issue as the OP
im running ice glacier 1.1.6 and for the life of me can not get gmail to update the emails on the account...ive tried wiping the data/cache ive tried to update the gmail app and as it stands right now nothing is working...its very frustrating
1.Send email from acct A to acct B
2.Check acct B on phone and read the message and then log out
3.Check acct B on the computer and message that was read on the phone is still "new" on the computer
the above goes for deleting and archiving mails as well
are there any other solutions to this issue...ive been searching the net for an hour and everyone just says delete cache and thats just not working for me
You could always try to wipe cache and dalvik-cache from recovery. Failing that, if you are truly determined to clear things, do a full system wipe (after making a settings backup via Titanium, so you can restore the non-broken parts easily).

Well I also run IG and it works 100% for me. Everyone's silicon is different, though. Are the gapps provided for Cyanogen/Gingerbread compatible with Froyo builds? You might try ripping the mail from that and doing a hard uninstall/reinstall of mail only either by hand or via Titanium.

not sure if the ones from cm7 are compatible...the interesting part is...the problem only seems to happen with personal emails not commercial emails from companies or notifications that are sent by mail
either way...i switched back to cm7 for the time being as i was having a couple other minor issues with IG...may go back at a later time...just cant find a rom that i really dig
i appreciate you trying to help me out...ill send ya a thanks

ok i may be beating a dead horse here...but i have a question for ya Kline...just cuz its picking at my brain lol
if u receive an email and you check it on your phone and either delete it or just have it marked as read and you immediately check the same account on your computer...the email is deleted or marked read?
im asking cause i think its based on the sync time between the phones gmails acct and the computers gmail acct

My phone and PC seem to lag about 30-60s between each other, but both still stay in sync (lucky me, haha). Maybe it helps I am on WiFi whenever I am at home? Probably a quicker connection to sync via than the cell network.
Hey,
When I flash CM10.1 everything just works fine except for my Google Calendar.
My accounts sync but the calendar does not. It says there is no account to sync with, when I add my google account it says that account is already in use on my phone. How to solve this? Where did my problem come from? Solutions I found on fora didnt seem to work, allthough that was for regular android roms.
Help is appriciated

ok. I am downloading CM 10.1 right now. But when I was using my nexus, I had this problem. I got around this problem by wiping /system and then flashing ROM and GAPPs again.
Are you using the stock Calendar app? I deleted it and instead I'm using the newer Google app :good:
If problem persists use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar&hl=en
