I want my elocity menu keys to light up like they do on the new 10" version. Do you ever think it will happen?
I use (button savior) to bring button up on screen.

To answer you question... No.
Unless you plan to modify it yourself to make the buttons light up, it isn't going to happen.
Bummer!
I installed button savior which helps somewhat.

when are we going to see more things like this? HTC already did this with the diamond2 and pro2 that when you press the start menu a full screen action screen menu pops up instead of the menu. i can just imagine what you developers can do with that button if you can intercept it in the same way and put what you want there.

This is HARDWARE button hack. I think, mike21pr asking about replacement of Start menu execution. I need it too.

No it's not. It intercepts the click (or "tap") on the Start Menu icon.
Why not use the old little program GSPocketMagic. http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1276
With this you can use a custom icon. You can choose what will start when you click on it, what will start when you hold on it, and what will start when you slide from it.
This is my setup: When i click on the icon, it switches through active applications, when i hold on it popup a taskmanager/launcher, when i slide from it the screen rotates.
Im playing around with my newly rooted hero all day long but i feel im missing a bit of the techie geeky part of the equation..
I learned that by holding down home and power button during start takes the phone to the recovery screen (if you have a rooted phone) and the back + powerbutton returns fastboot screen.
I dont want to f##k anything up by messing about with it without any prior knowledge, so i ask you guys.. are there any cool functions, easter eggs or similar that arent well known (like in the first 10 pages on this forum)?
for instance, a verbose boot would be awesome, especially if it was a button combo to activate..
are there any more boot combos other than the above mentioned ones?
Holding down home will show a pop up of running programs; useful to switch between programs.
When the screen is off, double press the menu button and this will bypass the lock screen.

that's not quite right. the programs shown are the most recent started programs, not necessary running programs (and of course mor programs are running in the background...). but it's really a handy feature.
i once managed to get to the android home screen that you get on phones like the Magic but i cant remember how i did it

You get that by manually deleting Rosie.apk from the system/app folder.
Or by deleting its cache.
Then when you hit Home it will ask for you to choose the HTC or Android Home. As long as you don't select the use as default option, it will continue to do this.

You can just press menu from the lockscreen, no matter what button you pressed to wake the phone.
In the new ROM there's no camera zoom function on the screen by default. It can be accessed by the menu...
But who wants to do that?
Just swipe your finger up the screen the zoom slider appears, then swipe where you like to adjust the zoom level.
(from the Modaco forums)
Eh ? What zoom function ?
Explain please

One additional thing I found: Holding down the power button for 1-2 seconds will get you a menu where you can choose between powering off the phone, silent mode, vibration mode, airplane mode and internet connection.
Holding down the 'back' button in the browser will get you to your recently visited pages aka history.

How else do you turn off the phone? I assumed everybody has to do this anyway.
With the new rom, you can touch the screen to focus that specific area. Okay everyone knows this. But do you know you don't have to click the trackball to take picture? Just tap and hold at the screen, it will focus on that area and then take picture.

LOL like that one, useless point he made there!
Is there such a thing? if not would someone be willing to make one with: up, down, right, left, space bar, return, and maybe x and z. The reason i ask is because alot of flash games require these buttons or else theyre useless. I know the trackball can be used for the directional buttons but it doesnt always work, specifically the down direction on freetetris.org
oh and how come the htc keyboard doesnt pop up when you hold the menu key but the regular one does.
Thats another feature the keyboard must have too or else you cant use it lol

Yes, the Droid keyboard has a D-pad.
But how does that relate to the Nexus One? Not really sure what you're asking.

He wants an on-screen keyboard that has directional input buttons, and other characters (as in text) that are commonly used in flash games.
Smart Keyboard Pro has it..

THANKS MAN!! thats exactly what i was looking for
Is there a way to configure the optical button on the htc incredible so that clicking it wakes the phone up (like pressing the top button)? I'm looking for functionality thats a little bit similar to how the iphone wakes up since I find that button at the bottom much more accessible than the button on the top.
id be interested in this as well. The top button isnt very intuitive to me
Search the market for "lock screen" or "lockscreen" or just "lock" (or maybe "button"? I thought there was a button switcher app too).
Many of the 3rd party lock apps will bring up the lock screen by pressing one or more of the physical buttons (volume, camera, etc). I bet at least one of them comes on with the optical button.
it has been done on the nexus one with the trackball. i think you need root access or at lease custom rom.
Ok, I found this.

Try the "lockbot" app. It is probably about all that is available right now, but the Incredible will be extremely popular. There will be more hacks/tweaks/apps/whatever for this device than any to date, I suspect.

"myLock" in advance mode.
Great app, and thank you for the info. I was looking the same solution.
Mylock works great. Although I did have one occurence of it locking up the phone.

Are you talking about the app called myLock auto unlock? I am not finding an advanced mode or way to get in advanced mode. Care to explain a little more? and this is able to make it so you can use the trackpad to wake/unlock the phone?
NoLock works for this as well but I wish there was a way to allow the optical pad to work without allowing the volume buttons to work at the same time.
Tried myLock just now and both seem like good apps.

Hi,
Just a suggestion, a module that can use a swipe gesture to stimulate the Back key would be really cool. I worry that I might wear the Back key out.

Hahahahh, good one, well, if you wear an back button out, you can use key remaper to make another button behave as back button XD Just like i did with my worn out Power button, remaped it to camera button XD
Can you kindly teach me how to do that?
Thank you.
