Friends / Experts,
I have used iGo Primo when I was using WM6.5, so I have all the maps / voices etc.
Now I have WP7 on my HD2, I also installed Navigon software.
Can someone route me through a forum / discussion that describes the "STEPS" to transfer my existing maps in to WP7 Navigon?
I already searched the forum for more than 1 hour, couldn't find anything that helps my level of knowledge (I am a beginner!).
Appreciate your help!
Thanks,
ARi
Mod edit: Read the rules again...warez links are not tolerated on xda.
Thank you malkrae,
I have already gone through that link. That talks about downloading 1.5gb of maps....Is there a way I can use my existing .fbl maps of PRIMO?
Thanks again!
no u cant..Navigon uses different type of maps from iGO.They r not compatible.U can use Iphone maps for Navigon..
There's no easy way of making Navigon NA maps work. The only proven method is to use 1.7.x IPA maps and setting up your local web server.
You don't need a webserver. Just copy the maps to the phone with Windows Explorer (reg hack to make phone appear as media device) and then copy them with TouchXplorer to the Navigon dir.
I made the hack, i copied the NAVIGON Eastern Europe-1.7.0.ipa to my phone, but can't find the Navigon dir, can't find even my NAVIGON Eastern Europe-1.7.0.ipa file
Maps folder missing

Hi,
I am missing the "map" folder in my WP7.
Can somebody help me pls?
* Once the files are copied, start TouchXplorer on your device and go into \My Documents\Zune\Content\0400\02\. Here you will find all the files you just copied onto the phone (note - they are now named 050.z or similar).
* Select the files and copy them. Now, navigate to the \Applications\Data\6F9CB464…..\Data\IsolatedStorage\map folder and paste the files. This will take a few minutes (depending on how many maps you extracted).
* Once finished, select each of the newly copied files and rename them to the correct filename, i.e. country.map.
Thanks, Ari
Which Navigation systems have you try on HD2 WM7?
Are there free?
Hi, the navigon works for me i just extracted the .ipa file on my comp with 7zip and navigate to maps folder, then copy the country map in to your device (look the other posts) and with touchExplorer rename the file from 08.z to Bulgaria.map in my case.
Thank you Ari for the help

After the navigon installation, run the program. It will ask to download the files through Zune or WiFi. Say OK to download the appropriate files.
After the downloading, we can see the "MAP" folder hasbeen added.
I hope this helps some one!

Not true. You need to edit many other files and AFAIK no one managed to do it so far. The only reported working NA maps are via webserver.
NA maps, not European!

Hi,
I have a cab file of Wm5torage which is asking about restart or not after installation, the problem is that i put this file in my extended rom, to make it installed after a hard reset.
The probleme is the question of restart or no, it hangs the installation. And I have to reboot it myself.
So i would like to know how to avoid this question by modifying the Cab.
Thanks for your futur answers

You can use MSCEInf (http://preview.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1519) to see what is inside a cab. Then you can repackage it yourself.
Cheers
Mark
Actually, it's not that simple in this case.
I was hoping the author of the program might see this post and answer you, but let me give it a shot for now.
The reset is done by the cabs setup.dll (it may have a different name inside the cab). Using MSCEInf markvan mentioned or CE Cab Manager (there is a demo version that will run 15 times) you can remove this dll from the cab. Trouble is it may contain other functionality (like reg settings) needed during the installation so the app won't install properly without it.
Sorry.
MSCEInf and SetupDLL.dll
Yes, i have omitted in the last version published of MSCEInf to extract the setup DLL, but the name of the setup DLL in the cab is always ".999". So, for now you can extract it by Winzip or Cabextract.
If there is no file with this extension, there is not setup DLL.
But in the tab : Generalities, you find the name of the setup DLL if it exists.
Future version of MSCEInf (vesion 1.4) will extract the setup DLL. This new version will also do these things :
- Drag and Drop from the Tab Files to the Explorer.
- Context Menu on Files in the Tab to open it with associated application or with Notepad.
- Use Names Folder for extracting.
- read also _setup.xml and do the same as for traditional INF and shows all things in the cab. It also rebuilds the traditional Inf from the XML.

Dll resources have nothing to do with its activities.
The only way to replace it is to know exactly what it does either by asking the author or by viewing the source code (if available).
My advice is this: try installing without the dll. If the app works, then you can dump the dll all together, if not try contacting the program author for help.

Post the cab - i will have a go at modifying it for you - i think its the setup.xml that needs changing.
EDIT managed what you asked (omitted setup.dll and modified setup.xml)- can get rid of the destination dialog as well if you like assuming like me you always install to \program files\wm5torage. Just need to know what version you use.
hi,
thanks for help.I'm using the 1.71 of wm5torage.How to post the file?

herc. 8)
Hi - i use 1.7 - if you want 1.71 you add it as an attachment to your post. It works as you want - do you want no destination dialog as well? I am at work at the moment - will post the modified cab tonight
Modified cab attached - its most up to date version 1.72.
mods are:
1. No setup.dll so no request to restart device (not required anyhow)
2. Installs shortcut to start menu\program files rather than start menu\accessories
3. Installs straight to \program files\wm5torage rather than having a destination dialog.
Many thanks for your help

I have Pm'd the author of WM Longlife (before you ask) but he can't remember which device he took the screenshot from.
I have found the Office Mobile and Games Icons quite easily and used them in my WM6.1 menu screen as per post #9 of this thread but I can't find the others.
I guess it may be that the folder icons are not on the Topazas standard, in which case is it possiblefor me to import them if someone uploads them onto here?
Many thanks.
im searchin' these icons, too. Can some post the path to the "System Tools" Icon please.
The icons are inside the shellres.dll. You need to edit that dll with a resource editor to change them.
dwizzy130
Thanks Dwizzy but I'm afraid that doesn't mean very much to me - I'm not very teccy.
I've looked in the Windows folder an the dll you mention doesn't appear. (there are some with similar names)
When I created the Office Mobile and Games folders as per the thread I referred to the icons appeared automatically as there was an icon.lnk in the folders. When using explorer though, these .lnk files are no longer visible.
I just tried to create a new .lnk file in a folder called Applications but the files dissapeared afer I rebooted!
I'm just fumbling around really so if you can give some more detailled guidance that would be kind. Thanks.

Well the icon.lnk is just a shortcut pointing to the actual icon resource inside the shellres.xxx.dll (Or other dlls). For example, inside the icon.lnk for the Games folder:
1#shellres.dll,-8229
That's all it is. It tells the folder what dll to look in and the -8299 refers to the exact resource number.
Also, are you using WM6.1 or WM6.5?
If you are using 6.5 then there is a much easier way to do this....
dwizzy130
I'm using WM6.1 (When I saw all the comments on here from people that had upgraded I decided it wasn't worth the hassle!)
Are you able to tell what the resource numbers are for the icons in question then?
Thanks.

Not sure if it helps, but I attached all icons that are stored in the shellresxxx.dll file. You should find at least the icon files for the folders inside.
For creating shortcuts, use Resco File Explorer or another free file explorer.
Thanks for the reply BeeGee but I think those Icons come from WM6.5 and I'm using 6.1.
Do you remember that the reference for the Games Folder Icon is: shelres.dll,-8229. Its the equivalent for the folders in question that I'm after.
I also don't have a file simply called shelres.dll. I have three called:
shellresapps.192.dll
shellresapps.96.dll
shellresapps.dll.0409.mui
I've tried using three different resource editors but none will find the phone in the directory tree and I therefore cant get access to the files. I also can't copy the files to my PC because they are protected.
been searching for these icons for a while. there you go...

I searched the registry, device and the sd card. I found they are in the 'windows' folder...
But I cannot delete them...
I am using the Energy rom... I do not think it does exist in the rom before... Acturally, it appears after I installed some software....
Does anyone have a way to delete them? Thanks...
im using resco explorer which allows me to delete such files, im not familiar with total commander but there may be something in the settings which will allow you to delete those files....
you could download the free trial of resco and try that way....
hope that helps....
Thanks mate... I have Resco as well...it shows me
Any suggestion? I am pretty sure the ENERGY team did not put these useless wav file with meaningless name under windows folder... It s my fault... I install some software...but I cannot remember which one...
yeah I was wrong I cant delete them either...
it must be to do with the rom though....
il look into this when I get home and let you know if I get to the bottom of it....
Hey
i had a similar issue when trying to free up some space on my old tytn2
the files were ringtones (.wma) but in theory this should work with most files
give this a go: copy the offending file to any other folder (my docs, sd card...)
uncheck 'read only' in file property
copy back to windows folder - overwrite when asked/ warned
then you should be able to delete from windows folder.
(backup 1st, just in case)
hope this helps

I listened to the files and they seem to be sound files for some sort of gps / navigation program.... Ive never installed any such program and as resco says they're in the rom memory it must be something to do with the energy rom........
Cant think of any way to delete them, They dont realy occupy much space its just a pain that they appear in the notification sounds menu......

I'm having this same problem. I don't want to delete the files, I just don't want them showing up in the drop down menu in Sounds & Notifications. Can't they just be moved to the Sound folder in App Data in the phone memory?
To save memory space on the internal phone storage, the map download of Here Drive (+) can be switched to the SD Card with this registry key:
Location: Local Machine
Path: System\\Maps\\Storage
Key: UseExternalStorage
Type: DWord
Value: 1
I suggest to delete the existing maps in here drive before changing the registry value. When the value is set, here drive will only look in the SD Card for maps, so the old maps on the phone can't be deleted via here drive anymore. You can always toggle back to download the maps on the phone storage by setting the value back to 0.
Feel free to add the setting to the SAMWP8 Tools as a toggle button
Have fun!

oh, didn't know that. But it's not mentioned that this registry affects here drive's (+) map download, too. So maybe this thread is still helpful.
Well, the change affects all applications that use maps.
And I do not mean to imply that your information is not useful. Only that it had been mentioned before in another thread, if it should continue there because, effectively, you have expanded the information. :good:
And it is not necessary to clear the maps stored on the phone, only affects the memory space, but does not mean you can usually download the SD

Dear experts,
being a wp-fan almost right from beginning (starting with WP 6) I am really about to loose patience with MS. I installed the DP of WP10 ... and had to realise afterwards, that Lumia Storage Check Beta meanwhile has been removed from the app-store. Although I have the .XAP-file I can't install it to my mobile even though I run it in 'developer mode' which shoul allow for installing local apps without store check. I read from the thread that one registry key needs to be altered to force my lumia to store maps to SD. But: I have no clue what is necessary to do this (oh, I can hear the experts starting to mumble...).
Would you mind to give the newbie a hint how to proceed? Without having the chance to put my Here maps to SD my Lumias are almost worthless (at least as a mobile device). Unfortunately MS does not seem to realise what they have done... sad.
Thanks in advance!

Finally this is not required anymore with latest Windows Phone 10 releases. This is now included as option on offline maps on system settings.
I have a Joying JY-UL135N2 / JY-UM135N2 that I just installed and has the constant cutting Bluetooth issue. I really enjoy the unit other than that. My MCU version says 2017-10-25 and I've been told that the newest software update (supposedly) fixes the Bluetooth issue.
I'm following the tutorial/download page from the Joying Auto site and have already downloaded the new software to a FAT32 formatted thumb drive and am ready to get going on this.
My only question before I start is that it says "before you update the head unit, please backup all important things: 1) Copy maps from car stereo internal storage to SD card."
Can anybody give me any pointers on how to do that? My unit came with iGo maps pre-installed which I do like/use and want to retain it after the update. To my surprise, I can't really find any info online about how to copy the maps to SD card. I actually created an account here just to ask this question since I can't manage to find it on the interwebz. I figure it must be so easy to do that it's essentially obvious and people simply don't ask about how to do it lol.
Thanks for any pointers.
You can use ES file explorer file browser to copy the whole Igo directory to an SD card. Use its copy and paste function.
PS if that update is to Android 8 forget about Igo Primo. It doesn't work.

Thanks. I ended up just messing around with it yesterday after work and it was easier than I thought, but I forgot to update my thread. However, it didn't work for me despite successfully copy/pasting the iGo file.
I now get an error when I try to open iGo. I'm honestly not sure if it's Primo or not.
Here's what I did. I found the iGo folder in File Manager -> Internal and copied it to USB.

After I updated the head unit, I took that exact same folder and pasted it back into the exact same spot:
I then double clicked on the iGO_NF.apk file and it appeared to me that it installed, but when I try to use iGo I get this error message "missing or incomplete folder: /data/data/com.basarsoft.igo.javaclient/content/lang":
Is this something I can fix somehow? Was there another folder I needed to copy in addition to the iGo folder? I see now looking back at my original picture that there was a separate ".here-maps" so I hope I wasn't supposed to copy that folder as well.
Bump - any tips?
I’m even totally willing to buy iGo from the official Play Store but is there a way I can download it to a thumb drive on a desktop to then transfer iGo to the head unit via the thumb drive?
My problem is that downloading directly to the head unit is difficult because my WiFi signal in the driveway is very weak and it would take hours to download the application and all the maps.
AC to DC converter? 12v and a couple amps or more. Bring the head unit inside.

I am under the impression that the Igo folder needs to be in the root folder of the device and run from there. I don't think you can run it from the SD card. You also need to go into the storage settings and change it to run from device and not the SD card.

Hi all can make a copy of the mapping SDHC car from the original and keep the original safe?
I have tried doing so and the copy doesn't work my panasonic wd250 car radio
Firstly make sure you copied entire igo folder completely, then paste the igo folder into the internal memory of your new device, then install from the internal memory, not from sd card, because the newer Android version can not be used in sd card. If still not work, you may need to install another igo software instead(you can go ahead downloading working igo maps from this site(mygpsmaps.com), because your current igo may not be compatible with your new device, so you can have another try with another igo software.
