Well, I can tell you this. I have a tmobile tab. I was VERY hesitant to do anything other than root like you. I just flashed MoDaCo kernel only and it has been the best thing I have ever done. Plus that kernel flashed CWM!!!
CHeck it out.

Help me re-root my Glacier running Royal Thunderbolt.

Hi...It has been a long time since I have posted in this forum because I thought I had bricked my phone and given up.....somehow I got out of it and now I need your help again.
What originally happened is that I tried to restore my phone with pd115.img so that I could sell it to someone that wasn't exactly tech savvy... being a dumbass I make the mistake of booting with pd115 not knowing that I should have restored JUST my radio first...anyways this pretty much screwed me...until somehow I restored it to a working ROM(because there was no ROM on it before)...so I am now trying to root my phone....again...so that I can run the radio update and then the pd115 that will completely restore my phone to stock. Problem is I can't get VISIONary to work at all... i tried permaroot..didin't work, so i tried the same way I did originally which was temp root and then terminal method..but i don't think the temp root is even working...when i click it, it just kind of flashes...i thought i remembered it doing more work then that, anyways, can someone help me please?
Is your current ROM not rooted? Or do you have root access, you just can't S-OFF or change ROMs?

[Q] Atrix 4g. Any help would be appreciated!!!

First off im not a noob. i have/had a nexus s; captivate, att sgs2 all rooted flashed and the sort. my wifes atrix 4g is a mystery. it could be because i havent spent as much time with it as the other phones but anyway heres the prob: when she got her phone it was running either 2.2 or 2.2.xx cant remember but i rooted it using gingerbreak. then she did the gingerbread update on top of the root. here is the problem. the phone still has the supersuser app and looks like its rooted but its not. how do i remove all of the the components of the root then reroot? theres nothing wrong with the phone it works fine no problems whatsoever. a lil info any advanced users could use: system version 4.5.91.mb860.att.en.us running 2.3.4 kernel 2.6.32.9-00001-g41bc3e0 [email protected]#2 build# 4.5.91
any help will be appreciated. ill try to check this tread as often as i can. we just had a newborn 3 weeks ago and a 2yr old running around as well as working full time. feel free to send a pm with any question r possible solutions. thx

What makes you think its not rooted?
In any case, try "re-rooting" using the info in this thread.
Any app that requires root permissions says its not rooted. ill try that and see what happens. thx

New T-Mobile Update Root?

So I understand that there is a new update out and I'm wanting to upgrade to it. I'm currently rooted and have xposed installed. I was wondering if I will keep root and not have to wipe my device.
If I have to re-root it, could someone please show me the steps to take? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Yes, to upgrade to the newest firmware you will lose root and more then likely have to fully wipe your phone, just make sure you back everything up. The root method is the same as when you 1st rooted your phone, but I will leave you a link to the root thread. Always try to search for the answer's before asking question's. Hope this helps you out buddy Click here

Hey bud I hope I caught you before you took the update. I would read the stock rom thread for that update. Something about not updating the bootloader . I have not taken the update as of yet so I dont know about it but here is the thread for it. You might want to ask in there before updating.

He needs us996 testers right now. He's got me to test for the vs995 ?
Actually there are probably 10 more people with Verizon that would like to test but it seems that not many us996 users are on XDA.
Cool...no problem gotta get my root on..Hope its easy .Been playing with Nexus for a few years and that ish was simple.

As the title says I am in need of testers for Lineage OS/CM14.1 that I built from source for the US996, any problems faced with Lineage OS/CM14.1 for the H918 (T-MOBILE) will be same as the US996 (Unlocked). Once I get back solid feedback I'll post this in the development section.
**As for VS995 I am working on it, just got the FW files I needed thanks to @imucarmen**
Prerequisites
- Root
- TWRP (Latest version)

No need to be sorry, if your a us996 (unlocked) user you can test you'll most likely get a response out of it. If you're a vs995 (Verizon) user it'll have you in a bootloop. With that being said TEST AWAY! lol

I feel you on that part... but currently someone is working on the second screen there going deep with it , there going to create or reverse engineer the API for the second screen or something of the sort. I really hope it works out, then the v20 with Lineage OS or stock AOSP would be mint!

Vs995 boots!
@OneDon It booted!
Flashed ARM64 7.1 nano gapps and it works. Stock gapps also works.
Wi-Fi works
Time service crashes during setup and it crashed when I changed it to the 24 hour clock but that's it. It doesn't seem to be an issue.
You have the name as the us996. Not important but figured I'd let you know.
Default cam is working but touch to focus doesn't seem to respond. Auto focus was working though.
Substratum is working .... Partially...I just broke it applying more stuff with substratum :[ Not booting now....dirty flash fixed it
Overall this Rom is ready for it's own thread so it gets more attention and more users can test it out.

G955u factory binary and eng_boot (bootloader v2)--ERASED THE LINK!!

erased link sorry

None yet, it's the base for getting root, once we find a way to get it to stay rooted. It's mainly for those who upgraded to the 2nd iteration of the bootloader and can't downgrade to a rootable firmware (It's been confirmed by a few to work with the new Cyborg rom, albeit without root).
As of right now, unless you know why you need it, it's best to leave it alone.

Well, I may have spoke too soon, you guys might want to take a look here in the Cyborg rom thread, seems they have a modified U2 bootloader they're flashing and retaining root. One member has volunteered to do a factory reset to see if it survives, but if so, v2 bootloader may now be rootable, or at least on the right track for public use.

Thanks for answering that man. Haha. That's awesome that the guys got stuff moving that quickly. I knew that they had the files also, but, held off as long as they could until I came along.
But another useful feature I've noticed in this combo firmware is that there is an open unlock option now and mine sticks after reboot. I tried build roms, kernels,etc.. in the past that ended in ultimate failure. I'd like to start again. At the moment I just cruise the foreign forums grabbing whatever software I can find. I kinda have building only the tree down, not so much, as it's been years. I used to build Linux OS's a long time ago but forgot. I'll do my own research here if it, anybody wants to teach, I'm all ears, all eyes. Aloha
