request for tun.ko??? - Wildfire General

i think the last thing why i can't make openvpn work is because of the missing tun.ko file.. i'm running cm7 #50.. Kernel Version: [email protected]#1
can someone provide this file.. or maybe make a thread for openvpn tutorial..??.
i think your phone will rock if you can access internet without paying any bills.. coz openvpn will let all of your apps access internet..
thanks in advance guys!!

[REQ] Android Expert - Help with Athena Kernel

As title, I am trying to find an expert on android, basically I have android 1.0 from a package released a while ago in the athena forums, I also have a config file that I believe adds touchscreen drivers etc and there is also a kernel patch.
If I am correct these need to be applied in a linux enviroment, something I dont have or know much about, so I am asking for a bit of help.
Is it possible to:
a)Apply the patch file to a newer build 1.6 or 2.0 and see if it works?
b)Apply the config to the 1.0 kernel I have downloaded to try it
Ideally if possible I would love to have option a.
Could someone let me know if any of this is possible and if someone out there is able to do it for me.
Thanks

evo kernel with different wifi mac address

Hello.I have compile an evo based kernel with different wifi mac address, since many people have 2 hd2 and cannot connect in the same wifi network same time.
Unfortunatelly i didnt make any magic to correct this issue into git tree. Before compiling kernel i go to arch/arm/mach-msm find the file board-htcleo-wifi-nvs.c and in the line static unsigned char *hardcoded_nvs =
"macaddr=00:11:22:33:44:55\n"\
i change manually the mac address
But i see something strange. The original board-htcleo-wifi-nvs.c that you can find in http://www.gitorious.com/linux-on-wince-htc is like this
static unsigned char *nvs_mac_addr = "macaddr=00:11:22:33:44:55\n";
static unsigned char *hardcoded_nvs =
and wifi mac change doesnot work.
So i used the file from nexus based kernel which i include into the rar file
i have upload
Also found that in evo based kernel in drivers/net/wireless/bcm4329_204/proto in the file 802.11.h there is a line #define BRCM_PROP_OUI "\x00\x90\x4C" these digits are the first three of same wifi mac address we have in evo kernel.I put there other random numbers but wifi tried to connect, without success.
Hope that someone can combine the things and find a permanent solution without the need of building other kernel.
I have included 2 kernels with different wifi mac address and the latest fix for music stuttering. They are based into hastarins-linux tree without overclock or undervolt patch.

mirror
http://www.filefactory.com/file/b3he4cd/n/evo_kernel_mac_addr.rar
Also i see that maybe wifi N is not enabled in evo based kernel.I compared code here http://git.linuxtogo.org/?p=groups/...it;h=54e627b77ef4bf0e30c0b5a7ac390e8c8b207fec
and made the changes in evo kernel files. If someone can test this if works.
Thanks to all developers for your work. You give new life to our hd2
Hey do you know you can set wifi.mac by startup.txt
sample here:
Code:
set cmdline "rel_path=Android nand_boot=0 wifi.mac=04:1E:64:2F:E2:2f"
But currently it effect only R11 kernel.
Other kernel don't read this property
Yes but michyprima R11 kernel is a nexus one based kernel.
I have made a similar thing for evo kernel. Can you please test my patch:

There is nothing to change if you are not compiling a kernel
Yesterday i wrote this post and today another member found a better solution.
This why i like xda community
As shadiku said hastarin made a kernel with patch to set mac address in startup.txt which is more easier and comfortable the way i described

[Q] Looking for a tun.ko

hi all
i'm looking for a tun.ko for OpenVPN with Samsung Galaxy S FroYo JPP/JPO ... is there something out yet or already in developement? (or any alternative... i want to connect to a cisco vpn)
thx in advance
I don't have a Galaxy, nor do I know much about them, but I have compiled this module for HTC phones. Do you know if the kernel source for "Galaxy S FroYo JPP/JPO" (actual version running on your phone) is available? If so, I'm pretty sure I could compile a module for you.
Hi all,
I'm intrested for the same module tun.ko.
If somebody can provide it
Thanks
couldnt find it yet... if someone does pls post the link for gene or someone else
I can try to find it. Type this in a command window for me:
adb shell uname -a
and post the results.
hmm im probably too stupid
i couldnt get adb shell working on windows 7 (followed some tuts but none worked for me... always "error: protocol fault (no status)" (yes i dled everything and enabled usb debugging @ my sgs)
so i installed a shell app on my mobile and ran "uname -a" into it.. here is the result:
Linux localhost 2.6.32.9 #6 Wed Oct 20 17:47:45 CEST 2010 armv7l GNU/Linux
hope thats what you were looking for
btw an vpnc version would also be very appreciated (if its not a ****load of work )
Well, I've been searching all over and I can't make any sense out of all the Galaxy stuff. I don't own one and so I'm not up on all the jargon and what the current state of the custom ROMs is so, I'm sorry, but I can't find a repository of the kernel source.
If anyone could point me to it, I'd be happy to try and compile it, but otherwise, I'm stuck.
too bad hopefully someone can point u to it ... but not me since im kinda new to this stuff :/
There's a how to on one of the FAQ's in the samsung galaxy s forum.
look for
[HOWTO] [REF] [FAQ] [Guides] [Tutorials] Flash/Root/ADB/ROM [MUST READ!]
in: post #5 tips and tricks
actually i didnt find it there... there is a "create a tun.ko for sgs" but the link is wrong...
you can close this post as a tun.ko for another kernel is also definetly working ->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793712
totally working with JPO... used autostart (root) from market to install the tun.ko with insmod on reboot
tried it today with cisco vpn connection (+"VPN Connections" (vpnc)) @ my university and it totally worked!

[REQ] tun.ko module

Hi Guys,
if possible could someone compile a tun.ko compatible with the desire HD?
would i need to be running a particular kernel or should the module work with some OC\UV kernels out there?
Cheers for your help guys
Mark
MOD Edit:
Moved to General
M_T_M
I also require the tun.ko file for DHD . Id do it myself but have absolutely no clue aha.
awaiting a reply and tun.ko file
Me,too. I need it to make my DHD linking to school's VPN net(IPsec).
BY the way, I heard Cisco is developing " VPN connect for Android" just like it had done for IPhone. The Beta is being close tested. Maybe, just maybe, it will be published in spring, 2011.

Have you seen this: hxxp://szym.net/2010/12/adhoc-wifi-in-android/ ?

not sure but on my stock jpy it is .6.1 and i'd rather stick with a modified version of the same one.. rather than trying to guess that that is the issue if later on something isnt working.
i think is this what u need !

Hi Guys,
Got myself one of those AR Drones, so keen to get this up and running
Applied the 6.1 version to my phone and it just reboots constantly, so I gave up!
Anyone got an updated version?
i use a 2.3.3 origin NS, and has rooted.
but if i put 6.1 wpa_supp to phone, it won't find any wifi for me.
so i roll back to origin.....
i searched for wap_supp, always 0.6.10, with
MD5: 0B726E45AF6E90BC442A9AF5A9642472
SHA1: 5581981584E2C64DF3471AAC1E61EAFCCAE77748
i tried to edit conf file in data/misc/wifi, no use.
so what can i do next?
wpa_suuplicant for Android 2.2.1 (Samsung Galaxy POP)
I have used the above wpa_supplicant file. It shows the available ad hoc networks but when I want to connect then it displays..."Obtaining IP address and then disconnected." Sometime it automatically turned off the wifi connection.
Please help me. I am in the middle of the sea.
Thanks in advance.
