Taking action shots... - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how I can tweak the default camera app or another camera app that is good at taking action shots with the camera? I've been trying to take pictures of my dog and they are almost always blurry.

Terrible picture quality

Does anyone elses camera take horrible pictures (I mean dreadful, unusable pics) when they're indoors or with dim lighting? Outside the camera is great, but inside, it sucks horrendously.
And I'm talking about without the flash
I downloaded a camera app to compare, and the stock cam app is awful compared to the camera effects app. At least inside anyway.

did you try shooting w/ night time scene mode? I found that helps.
light... aperture... sensor sensitivity...
blame the realities of physics. not the camera itself
no, its not the physics, its the stock camera app. when i take pictures of anything black it does that,
i downloaded the miui camera apk and it seems to be a lot better

Camera application

On default camera application, i seted best qualitu, but images little smooth because jpg commpresion is on high level.
Is there any chance to set commpresion manualy or turn off compression?
Or maybe anybody know another good camera app?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Manually set compression? Not aware of... Probably if you modify the camera.apk.
Did you tried to remove the back and take pictures without the cover? If there is a huge difference, then remove the plastic covering the lens - I have it like for 6 months now.
Good camera app? Zoom FX, Camera 360 ultimate ect...
Ok, i will try this app. Maybe photos cant be better, because phone is not camera :-/
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I'll try too, thanks!
about the cam app...
you can try "HDR camera" from the markett
thereĀ“s a free version with a banner here and there, personally i live with it
it takes 3 pictures and computing the best resolution or something like that..
just remember its a suckysucky cam app for taking pictures of moving objects because of the "3 picture thing" it has..
im just a noob here so i cant upload a picture taken with HDR so you gotta test it out yourself, have a good one!
search a bit around...you have to edit the build prob and set up this..
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
most roms..should have this inside...like mine hybrid
with kind regards

[Q] Camera framerate issue. Is it by design?

I've had my G2 for about a week now and love it so far.
But there is one issue which irritates me, the camera. It does take a good picture and I like the 60fps 1080p. But these work best outside or in really good light.
I tried to take a video of my 11 month old son with the camera indoor and I noticed that even at 60fps, the framerate on the screen could not be more than about 20. The picture quality was not good either, lacking detail, blurry.
This translates to pictures too and perhaps the most annoying feature. When taking pictures the camera just takes ages to snap that picture. I tried to capture a moment of my son and after pressing the shutter button, I counted to 5 before the shot was taken. No good for those moments you want to capture.
Any ideas to any of this? Is it by design? Or is my phone faulty?

You'll have to mess with the camera and its settings manually to find a good way yourself. Simply there isnt a simple solution to this sadly. The S5 Camera doesnt take in much light in dark conditions which is a con to it. You could try setting the ISO to its hightest setting in dark conditions as a starter.

Don't go around asking people to thank you, especially if your going to give outstandingly dull and boring reply's like that.
I found if you have the photo setting Picture Stablistion on it tends to blur the photo on the edges you get much clearer photos with it off as I think it tries to take the photo without the flash in low light if you have that setting switched on. Hope this helps.
-Turn on Picture Stabilization unless there is movement in the picture than keep it off and instead use sport mode.
-Turn Up ISO
-Use the flash depending on the conditions.

Anyone else??
Any people find optimal settings for indoor/low light pics? Or perhaps another camera app that takes better low light/indoor pictures than the stock TouchWiz camera app?

Not sure if this helps, but I tried Camera Zoom FX to ease my front camera low-light woes, and it did indeed help a bit if you play around with the settings. There was much less noise than with the stock camera app. I didn't try it with the rear camera however.

Well I just use Snapchat for front facing pics (in low light conditions) because it has the cool feature of flash on the front camera! I wish Sammy would implement that into the Stock TouchWiz camera app.

Samsung Motion Photo? Use SGS10 Camera app?

A70 is so nice I almost pulled the trigger on it, when during testing I noticed... huh? No Motion Picture in photos?
I checked Samsung's page and it's true, there is no Motion Picture for A-series phones.
I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but with 2 small kids this feature (I'm using SGS7 now) paid itself in gold - not the moving part, but the fact that I can effortlessly "rewind time". Those with children know that they can do something magical for few seconds, and by the time you snapped photo it's already gone - well, with Motion Photo the phone is saving sensor output from camera app start. This means that I can trigger camera when puling the phone from my pocket, aim, snap photo, then rewind 3 frames back and save THAT picture.
I tested Gcam and while it has similar feature, it's not nearly as polished - first, Samsung's saves frames only BEFORE snapping the photo, second, it's much more difficult to crop single frame, third - the picture quality of Samsung Motion Photo is far, far superior compared to that from Gcam.
So my question is - is this app or processing system limitation? If it's the app, is it possible to use camera app from e.g. SGS10 to get Motion Picture?
Maybe we should wait for a camera app port from s10 to get motion photo and also to get pro mode

It's an app limitation. You can use other cam apps from play store for motion picture though.
I've installed Gcam (google photos apk) and I can make Motion Photos with it. It's a shame samsung does not update A70 firmware to be able to make these too.
Just make sure you install a compatible Gcam version. Not all of them are. Search google for "a70 gcam" and you'll find one which is compatible.
