I don't think there is a "best" ROM out there right now. ROM's are more of a personal feel and what you like in a ROM. All of the ROM's out there are amazing, and have been built by amazing dev's. I personally am running Darkslide right now, but I have run Liberty 1.0, Liberty 1.5, Rubix 1.9.5, Rubix 1.9.7 Rubix Blurry 1.8, GummyJar 2.5, Fission 2.5.7, TranQ 3.7, Apex 1.4.... And this is all within just the last 2 months...
Give each ROM you are interested in a try for a few days or a week. Until we get the ability to run an AOSP ROM WITH a custom kernel (like Cyanogen), and even then, who is to say a BEST ROM, I think it is really what you the end user is looking for that makes a ROM a "best" fit for someone.

I agree with you. Probably shoulda worded it as "favorite" as apposed to best. I've personally tried most out there. Just wanted to know what people are running.

i'm currently stock root, i've tried apex 1.3 liberty 1.0 liberty 1.5 rubix 1.9.7 tranq 3.7 and darkslide 4.2. i'm thinking of going apex 1.4,

is there a rom with the gingerbread screen animation

Stock custom rom

Hi just wondering if theres a stock custom rom for my droid 2 thank u very much!!
Yeah, is called fission, go to the android development forums for the droid 2 and look for it, I have it installed on my droid 2 global and its wonderful
Sent from my WICKED FAST DROID2 GLOBAL with fission using XDA App
Alright thanks is that the only one or theres more?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Well there's also gummyjar, its basically stock, but with a gingerbread theme and some extra eyecandy, if you want a fully stock system to build from, go with fission, otherwise you should go with gummyjar
Sent from my WICKED FAST DROID2 GLOBAL with fission using XDA App
Yeah im just looking for the same stock rom it could themed as long as it has the same ui u know like the stock browser, lock screen, etc thank u guys but it seems to be several fission rom r they all the same?
ray
I don't know if gummyjar is based off of fission, it might be, idk, but they are very similar in many ways, so its just a matter of whether you want the eyecandy and little extras gummyjar offers or whether you want the completely stock android experience, you can always install the gingerbread theme on fission anyways.
Sent from my WICKED FAST DROID2 GLOBAL with fission using XDA App
Ok as soon as I get a chance I will try the fission
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
Yo rusty I think I didn't explain my self when i said stock I meant to say the stock rom of the Droid 2 u know with the motoblur
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
oh, well i believe the makers of fission are working on a version with blur called fused, although i dont see why you would want it, youre gonna have to wait though as its not released yet

try liberty 1.5 its the best
I've only had liberty, but I like it. I'm sure at some point I'll try others; no hurry, though.
rooted x, on liberty 1.5
Apex1.4.1 best rom hands down

First of all rims go on cars but I know it was probably just a spelling mistake anyway I'd recommend liberty 1.5.
Yes it is a type o sorry!

Welll... technically... Rim also goes on Blackberry... but yeah, misspelling was much more likely here on the DX forum.
Just wait til Friday when liberty 1.75 comes out. It's by kejar31 who makes gummy jar and by Jrummy16. I had gummy jar and I switched a month ago and just saying but I like liberty better.
I've tried almost all if the top contenders for best rom and they're all good in their own respect. I liked Liberty bc its easy to customize, Apex for its battery life, didn't really dig tranquility all that much but its still a solid rom, but in the end I chose rubix for its speed and battery life. For my droid x, rubix has run faster, smoother, and longer than with any of the other roms.

I will have to say after obsessively flashing every rom with the same settings and oc. DarkSlide 4.2 is the winner hands down testing with quadrant and smartbench 2011. Smoothest fastest and fully themed with very nice taste. Very good support from the devs BBCrackman. GatesJunior. Natty Bee. Not to mention 4.3 is about to drop anyday now. This rom cured me from DX Flashenitis and saved alot of ag from listening o the old lady *****ing about too much time spent screwing with my phone. Not only a excellent rom but makes for a happy home.
Thanks you all for your help im now running apex 1.4.1 so we will see it I like it
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I know the feeling, I've flashed Rubix, Tranq, Gummy, DarkSlide,Liberty and Apex. Gummy I got a 1749 Quadrant Benchmark never got more than 1560 on the others. I liked Gummy the best but Liberty has got more options. Funny what you say about your old lady, mine too. Of course in the process of flashing I have become very adept at SBF. Anyone messing with their phone that much learns the hard way. Thank God for the forums! Thanks Guys!
I've been getting quadrant scores around 1760ish using liberty 1.5 oc'd to 13.5 using medium voltage.

Bickering aside, a quick perusal of the CM6 dev threads shows only a handful of posts in March, and none in April. So, I will make the assumption that most people have moved on to CM7.
After all, if you've taken the dive and flashed a custom ROM like CM, you're probably not likely to stick with 'outdated' software.
If someone is going to use 2.2, it would be FR008 or Liberated 2.2.2.

I am. I really like what I've seen of the CM7 nightlies so far, but will continue to use CM6 until GPS is fixed and working. I don't consider either the ROM flash-workaround or the new libs with the broken navigation to be fixes.
I am because of the cosmetics mainly. I Hate the black color schemes on 7. My Battery drained 4 hours faster from normal use. And there is nothing I want in cm7 that isn't in cm6.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
I'm still on cm6 because:
Runs smoother,
Better battery,
Looks better,
And for some reason, I can flash alternate/custom window animations on cm6 and not on cm7.
I just went back to CM6. It's the lightest, fastest, smoothest and most efficient ROM for the Aria. Literally, it's how the Aria was meant to operate. CM7 is disappointing.
going back to cm6 for stability and battery life.
Just gonna apply my gingerbread theme.

[Q] Liberty ROM GB

I know that the Liberty GB ROM has been released through the donate toolbox but I'm just curious as to what team liberty did. What is in the ROM? What does it look like? How does it compare to the regular .588 GB leak?
Thanks in advanced
Never had another GB rom on the X but I can tell you that the Liberty GB release is top notch. Awesome rom. My DX has never ran so smooth. Try it out. Worst case you sbf back...

Way better battery life for me than the "Official" GB leak.
I prefer naked ROMs to fancy ones, so this is working great for me. Pair it up with ADW EX and I have zero complaints.
Is it public yet, or is or still the 0.1 toolbox pro exclusive? I'm ready to get my hands on some liberty.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The look and feel is pretty much similar to stock Gingerbread with the exception of being able to delete most unwanted apps. I think some Motoblur was also removed. In any case, I prefer Broodcomb 2.0, but, to each his own. I'm sure I'll jump on Liberty once it's fully up and running on Gingerbread.

its up to .3 as of yesterday.
Why not pay the $5 to support the devs?
Make sure u have rsd light or sbf flash setup before u flash it. Going from liberty 2.0.1 to liberty gb soft bricked the phone. Had to sbf to the latest froyo and then reroot reflash liberty gb.
So far so good...its my gfs droid so i didnt play with it too much. The way notifications are handled is great...not a lot of the blur is stripped yet so expect battery life to take a hit.

Suggestions for a solid/stable ROM -> So many to choose from

Hey xda,
I just got a HTC G2, straight of ebay. I'll be following the tutorials posted to perma-root, CID unlock and S-off (not using visionary).
My only question and concern is, just because I am new to this phone, apart from CM being at the top, what other roms are stable? fast? and reliable? (decent battery life, not too many fc's etc)
I'm very much interested in something with HTC Sense, but meh, am willing to compromise if its too buggy. I've been reading here and there that there are tons of problems with scaling etc when phones switches from portrait/landscape etc.
Any suggestions will be great! Thank you for reading this far!!
Sorry, but you're going to have to do what everyone else does. Try them out and decide for yourself.
Hello and welcome!
My suggestions:
If you want sense, look up Virtuous 1.0.2 for froyo. If you want sense 3.0, look up Virtuous Fusion 1.0.0.
If you want stock android, look up Virtuous G-lite 1.0.2.
All of the above ROMs are by the same dev, are very stable and I have used all of the above. Currently using G-lite because as much as I love sense, it does take alot of memory.
As posted before, try the ROMs for about a week each and see how you like them. It's all personal preference.

insertcoin is a nice mix between sense 2.1 and 3.0

I couldn't agree more; as far as ROMs go, rmk's are the most stable. CyanogenMod7 is actually extremely buggy still on the G2 (at least, when I used it a few weeks ago). While CM7 is probably the fastest ROM I've used, there are lots of little things that don't work correctly, and newer builds sometimes will break things that worked on older builds. I'm currently running G-Lite and I'm extremely satisfied.

Cm6.1.1 is nice and stable with decent battery life. It isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the myriad gingerbread releases but it gets the job done and can be tweaked to appear incredibly 'speedy' by using spare parts from the app market and Launcher Pro.
Ill throw my vote in there for Pyrorom. Its fast and is based off of CM7 if I remember correctly. I had tried a few, but as soon as I booted Pyro, I knew it was the one.
Good luck anyways.

fwiw I have yet to find another ROM as stable as GingerVillain 1.5 with the 4.02.17 radio. Everything works perfect and I can get 18 hours battery life.
Tried Glite 1.02, super smooth, great ROM with the 4.30 radio BUT could not get the bluetooth to pair. Plus a few minor quirks with the camera flash not working. This is mostly due to the hw differences between the G2 and desire Z. I have a bell Can Desire Z
if u don't want sense...
If you have a G2, go for Glite 1.02 otherwise GV 1.5 is stable and can't be beat ..yet imo
Cm7 has been the only rom I stayed with. I tried sense roms and wanted to pull NY hair out, I simply just cannot stand sense.

In time, yep, will be flashing around here and there and i'll know for myself. I just wanted to know which ones are the best to start of with. I remember when i got my Milestone, man, i flashed all the bad roms first, had soo many problems.
Especially when ROM threads exceed 50 pages, Yikes!! Takes forever to go through them.
Thanks though!
