stock firmware on nexus s - Nexus S General

I recently put cm7 on to my phone but now I want to go back to stock. Is there an easy way to just flash my phone back over to stock whilst keeping my bootloader unlocked and phone rooted? Sorry I'm quite new to this. Cheers

How to extract firmware from phone?

Hi guys,
Ok, here is the deal, a few months ago I bought a SGS GT-I9000T and via Kies updated it to Froyo, all was great, then updated to Gingerbread (not rooted or anything fancy), and everything went down the hill from there, force close,,random shutdown, drained battery ,.....
anyway, I replaced the phone and the new I got, was already on froyo, so I kept it like that. The phone has been working great, even the gps works well (was not working on the first on too well). It has been 4 months. The problem is,now I am starting to see apps that require gingerbread so I am tempted to do the update, but only if I can revert if things go south.
And to revert I will need to flash the original firmware. I looked on samfirmware and it is not there, so I was thinking the best way might just be to get it from the phone directly.
So how can I get the firmware directly from my phone so that I can flash the file back to Froyo if I get the same problem with Gingerbread.
Anyway, my Froyo version is :
FROYO.UBJP9
Firmeware 2.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1
Any help would be nice.
Yeah IDK why that particular FW isn't on samfirmware either since many keep looking for it.
You could always do a Nandroid Backup. That makes a complete image of your phone that you can go back to.
I don't have a link handy, but there are a bunch of Nandroid tutorials out there to Google...

Thanks a lot. But I am not rooted. I would not mind rooting, but I have the same problem, a lot of the guide that I found ask for specific files for a specific firmware and unfortunately I cannot find mine.
Is there any way to back up without root?

Need some help

Ok so my phone has been rooted for a few months now and ive used custom roms with no problems, I was recently going to update my Negalite rom but I wound up downloading the wrong rom it was negalite for a different phone. Anyway that is now the only rom on my phone I have already cleaned everything and realized after that it was the wrong rom. Now my phone doesn't boot up I can get to download mode no problem anything else doesn't really work, ive tried flashing the stock tar with odin but keep getting a failed message.
Anything I can do or did my stupid mistake screw me completely?
Edit: Cant even get into recovery mode
When I got my Sprint S4, I thought I was cool since this was my second Android phone and I had experience with custom ROMs and rooting on my old phone. So, I got cocky and in a hurry and managed to flash a T-Mobile ROM on the phone. I had a small heart attack when the T-Mobile logo appeared during boot. Anyway, using ODIN, I was able to quickly get the stock Sprint setup back on the phone and start over. You should be able to do the same thing. If you don't care about Knox and want the latest, just try this thread, and you should be all fixed up pretty quickly:

If you're worried about keeping an older bootloader things will be more complicated.

At this point I just want my phone back lol, im almost done downloading that file from that thread im praying it works but if its the same tar file I already tried it prolly wont. If I get fixed I wont mess with custom roms cause ill prolly be updating my phone soon.
Sounds like you odined an old tar from either 4.3 or 4.2.2. Do you know what stock ROM or boot loader you were on before flashing the wrong rom?

EDIT: ya know what the one from that link seems to be working so far, I think ive got it...will update in a few if it works
Second Edit: OK it successfully booted up, im good. im assuming its different flashing roms now right? If so im staying away from it

[Q] return to stock

Hey all-
I have sprint galaxy s4 SPH-L720 (dont have spark) i'm no longer using. I got phone when it came out long ago and rooted with first method that came out (not sure what its called). Not sure if I ever even changed rom on this phone (although I don't see any sprint bloatware on here so maybe its different rom). It's currently on Android version 4.2.2. Anyways I want to give this phone away to significant other as her screen cracked on her s4.
What's the easiest way to get back to stock rom that's newest version? I'd like to keep root access if possible.
Saw this thread in android development area: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650706 but not sure what to download..
what do MJA/MK2/NAE/MDC/MDL/MF9 mean?
If I'm okay giving up root how what's the proper sequence? Flash to stock rom, then triangle away, then factory data reset??
thnx
BUMP, any help??
Since you say you are still on 4.2.2 you can try using this.

[Q] Need Help! I bricked my Sprint Galaxy S4!

So I bricked my Sprint GS4. I don't even want to get into how it happend. I was an being dumb and messing around with my rooted S4. I bricked it a while back but managed to find and install the stock rom and fix it.
I'm having trouble this time around because I wiped all system files. I only get the S4 logo screen when turning it on. I was on 4.2.2 VPUFNAE. I currently downloading the SPH-L720 VPUAMDC stock rom in hopes that I can flash it on my phone with Odin. I guess my question is...will I be able to flash that stock rom back on my phone without having to do anything else?
I know very little bit about this stuff. I research a lot and that's how I know what I currently know. Sorry if I sound ignorant or like a noob. I'm just really desparate to get my phone back. I'm truly greatful for any help I can get!

Hi mate ,
+1 with charris , as long you can get into download mode there is no problem , do the 3 buttons combo ang see if you can , flash stock and back into business , also if you have installed a custom recovery you could flash a custom rom that would solve the problem also
Thanx guys! Much appreciated! I fixed it. Just had to download the correct stock rom. Soo relieved!!

You're going to want to put it back to stock before turning it in. If you don't have a computer to flash it, then you can use FlashFire to flash to the latest Verizon firmware. I'd recommend finding a friend that will let you use their computer for Odin, though.

Guessing I risk bricking the phone by flashing the firmware thru flashfire, correct? **** man, I just moved out here 2 Cali & don't kno a single soul out here n all my fam is back East
Thank You 4 the input, that's kinda what I already thought n expected 2 hear, wishful thinking, lol
It is possible to flash the firmware with FlashFire, but I'm always weary when it comes to flashing bootloaders and such. Odin has so many safety checks to prevent bricking, so I feel much more comfortable using that.
