Hi I have a Vodafone branded magic:
Sapphire pvt 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
Radio-2.22.19.26I
I wanted to install yoshi Ginger, so I needed Radio: 2.22.27.08 and SPL: 1.33.0013d
so I followed this thread (step 1-9 I performed exactly like it says in the thread)
At step 8 and 9 I had to reboot the device myself. Other than that, everything went fine.
However, now I can't get into fastboot / recovery and cannot flash a ROM.
Symptoms:
- Power on the device gives android bootscreen only (This is obvious since there is no ROM on it)
- Volume-down and power on gives no fastboot (only android bootscreen)
- Trackball and power on gives blue light only.
- Charging gives orange light
- Connecting with usb and power on gives android bootscreen and in left upper corner it says 'FASTBOOT USB'
on the computer:
-'adb devices' gives empty list
-'fastboot devices' lists my phone!
- 'fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img' gives:
Code:
downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY [ 1.716s]
booting...
On my phone in the upper right corner I see a bar fill up and become white, on the computer it hangs at 'booting.....'
-'fastboot flash radio radio.img' gives:
Code:
sending 'radio' (21504 KB)... OKAY [ 6.059s]
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 12.502s
It sends it to the phone but it gets rejected or something..
-'fastboot update froyo.zip' gives
Code:
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
anyone know what went wrong during the Radio/HBOOT flashes? I took 32B imgs!
anyone have a diagnosis/treatment for me?? Much appreciated!
if you cant get into hboot fastboot or recovery your bricked this thing 2 hell i suggest a jtag its the only way if your fastboot commands cant get though best of luck

HTC__506 is for the users from Portugal.
3.54.527.6 is the Brazilian update for the 32A devices.
You should be able to flash it one more time using a goldcard.
Download the SAPPIMG.zip from this link:
http://www.htc.com/br/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=272&cat=2&dl_id=1065
Put it on a sdcard.
Start in hboot mode (volume -(decrease) together with power) and the device should automatically flash the image.
Post here the results.
PS: if you are from Portugal, you should understand the instructions on the link :0)

I did what I said and did not resolve.
After creating the goldencard and have copied the file to the root of SAPPIMG SD I turn off the terminal and he always stays with this RUU with the image of the beginning.
Thanks.

Hi! I have the same problem on a HTC Magic 32A! Any solution?
Hello, I would really appreciate some advice.
I had a Magic 32b which i rooted, flashed CM and passed on to my brother about an year ago. He now tried to flash another ROM and maybe bricked the phone.
He followed steps in [custom Radio/SPL for dummies][32B] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523680
He couldn't flash recovery mode because of an error ( signature verify fail) but he could load it via fastboot boot img and followed steps- 1-9 doing so. after superwipe and flashing radio he flashed Hboot and then couldn't get into recovery any more.
Now the phone has default recovery mode, and every time i try to flash an "update.zip" it gives me "signature verification failed".
Does not boot normally.
In fastboot cannot flash any recovery "signature verification failed" and when i try to load a recovery by fastboot boot recovery, it downloads it and then gets stuck at booting.
HBOOT-1.33.0013d
RADIO- 2.22.27.08
Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advance
hope this helps, seen it on other threads:
fastboot getvar version-main 1.75.162.3_R
fastboot getvar cid VODAP102
I know that i should make a goldcard to solve the problem, but if the phone only boots in recovery and fastboot, ADB commands do not work. Only fastboot commands work, so how can I make a goldcard?
The fix:
Download this file: https://rapidshare.com/files/1368708004/1.89.162.1.nbh
Download my fastboot commander tool found in my signature (not the magic version)
Using the tool, flash the file using the "Full zip" tab and do so inside fastboot mode.
It can take some time to finish....
Once done you should be back to stock 1.89.162.1 Vodafone Germany CRC24
From there, follow my root guide which is found in my signature...
Good luck
Thanks a lot for your response, I tried flashing the ZIP but failed
The weird thing is that it appears at S-ON, but i'm pretty sure that i had S-OFF an year ago when I flashed CM ROM, a new kernel and recovery on it ( otherwise it wouldn't have worked).
Is it possible to change the SPL from a good one to a perfected one with security? (at least that's what I think my brother did)

and thanks again for at least giving mea little hope .
Try to put the nbh file in same directory as fastboot.exe then issue this command
Code:
fastboot flash nbh 1.89.162.1.nbh
Succeeded
I followed the last instructions and managed to setup the ROM.
after rooting and installing new radio , SPL and new ROM i'm now running Ginger Yoshi 1.2 and gave the phone back to my brother. Hope that i won't have to deal with it again and just stick to my SGS.
Thanks a lot for your support and applications.
I tried to donate, but I got some errors( I tried three times) and couldn't finish the transaction. I think that my bank does not see pay-pal as a trusted site and rejects the transaction.
No problem... glad it worked out for you.
You actually just helped me find a bug in the tool (the first one).
"Full rom" tab should automatically change the fastboot command depending on the rom type. In your case, it was nbh and not zip... this is gona be fixed :0)
I've spent about 6 hours trying to fix my phone and I'm at my wit's end.
What happened:
I was using Cyanogenmod 6.1 on my MyTouch 3G and I flashed back to the Donut stock image. Everything went fine, but I couldn't use my phone because I don't have a data plan so I couldn't activate my phone. I attempted to re-root again but I accidentally flashed the Vodafone sappimg.zip file (my MyTouch 3G splash screen has changed to a Vodafone splash). Now I'm stuck.
What's not working:
If I plug the USB cable into my computer (Linux/Win 7 dual boot), the phone restarts. If I leave it plugged in as it tries to boot, the phone will go into a reboot loop. This means that I cannot use the fastboot or adb debugger.
I cannot flash the old sappimg.nbh image or any sappimg.zip variants. hboot cannot find the file. I have quadruple-checked the names, folders, formatting and used a 4GB Sandisk and a 1GB Kingston card.
Goldcards aren't working. I think I'm making them correctly. It's hard to tell since, depending on whom you read, the CID either has to be reversed, modified, fed into a special algorithm or a combination thereof before going to the goldcard generating website.
What I've tried:
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10824837
This: http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-root-the-mytouch-3g-or-g1-in-one-click/

This: http://androidandme.com/2009/08/new...es-and-flash-cyanogens-rom-with-donut-crumbs/
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133
Amongst other things.
What still works:
Phone is not bricked. As long as it's not plugged in to my computer, I can still turn it on and use it.
Wifi works.
I can still get into fastboot through the Power + Vol Down combination.
What it says in fastboot:

Ideally, I'd like to be able to root my phone again and, preferably, get back to the MyTouch splash instead of the Vodafone splash. Suggestions?
Oops... but not quite solved
It turns out that Linux wasn't formatting, mounting or unmounting the SD card. When I formatted the same cards in Windows I was able to get the bootloader to recognise that sappimg.nbh at least existed. I've tried both my Kingston and my Sandisk and neither of them are able to avoid the "Main version is older! Update failed" error message which, I'm guessing, the goldcard is supposed to fix. I'll keep researching but suggestions are welcome.
Download my fastboot commander tool from my signature and post here all device info.
Thanks, more under control
Thanks! I have actually succeeded in rooting the phone using your instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756918 . I even have a recovery image installed, which gives me a whole lot more flexibility! Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it
Unfortunately, it seems that Vodafone's factory image *really* hates Linux (and/or udev) because it still crashes when it's plugged in, so no debugging help there. On Windows, the phone doesn't crash but, even with debugging on, neither ADB nor Fastboot.exe can find the phone. Your Fastboot tools, therefore, also aren't immediately helpful (but, then again, maybe I'm not using it correctly. I haven't RTFM yet).
My plan now is to use the recovery partition to flash in an engineering HBOOT then use that opening to flash Vodafone Android back to the depths of Hell from where it came. I'll let you know if that works.
Edit: Yeah, I can't overwrite hboot from recovery. I remember being able to do this before since this is the first time that I've had to make a goldcard. Vodafone: I hate you. Here's that information you wanted, mumilover:

Here's a helpful debugging tip: when everyone says that you cannot use fastboot without installing the Windows USB driver, take that seriously. It may be why fastboot isn't working on Windows.
Think I bricked it
Yeah, so in my efforts to flash a new SPL, I followed the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794447 and skipped over step 6 where it tells you to press the green button once. My phone is now stuck on that Vodafone logo. Taunting me. Mocking me. Oh, yeah, and fastboot don't work no more (phone side or computer side). That's an irrecoverable error, right?
What can you see on the screen...?
No fastboot?
No recovery?
Free T-Mobile MyTouch 3G!!!*
Nope. No fastboot, no recovery. Just that Vodafone logo taunting me. Don't panic, I went out and bought a Nexus S just now. They went on sale just as I bricked my phone.
So, yeah, if anybody wants a free MyTouch 3G* to experiment with/disassemble, drop me a line. Comes with all accessories and my thanks for getting it off my hands.
*Free phone comes pre-bricked.
I want it... i can maybe try the jtag thing on it...Check your pm.
Hi!
I think my phone is bricked... or semi-bricked.
I was using eyegor's radio switcher to switch SPL/Radio/Recovery every time I was changed the rom. I used:
hboot-1.33.2010OldSPL.img
Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17OldRadio.img
recovery-RA-magic+-v2.2.1-bladyle
everything was nice, but my battery started to die... every day I had to charge it. So I bought a new battery and I thought, it would be nice to be formatted with a stock rom. So I started to install RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.1_test_signed_NoDriver.exe (what I installed the same way like before with success). When it got to update RADIO_V2 my screen goes black and the update failed.
Now when I try to turn the phone on (showing me the same with POWER; BACK+POWER; HOME+POWER; VOL_DOWN+POWER), says:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0008 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I can access fastboot from computer, but adb not. I searched all over the internet to find solution to this.

I saw mumilover helped to someone with almost the same problem, maybe he or someone can help me.
So it can't be solved...
If someone in Serbia can JTAG, I would be send to him/her and pay for it...
Don't know why I was thinking like a noob... a had already extracted the RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.1_test_signed_NoDriver.exe and I always tried to flash only the rom.zip which failed at radio update. So now I tried to flash the other zip... rom1.zip
Now I have working hboot, fastboot and a system which I cant access
It looks like no one can help me...
I tried to make a goldcard, with two cards. The first was 4gb Kingston sdcard and the second one is a noname 512mb sdcard. Without my goldcards I get Model ID error. With the goldcard inserted (never mind which one) I pass this check, but fails at main version check. I read on many forums and tutorials how to make a goldcard... On these sites I found many answers. Someone says the goldcard is good when passes the Model ID check. But there are a few responds where they say they can pass the main version check... Somewhere on this forum with almost the same problem (SPL/Radio mismatch) someone wrote that he had to make three goldcards to pass the main version check, but with first two he passed only the Model ID check...
Now I'm a little bit confused... I would appreciate if someone can confirm that the goldcard is then a good goldcard when it can pass the main version check (in RUU - ERROR 140 - BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR).
If someone confirms this I will buy more sdcard (because I bought my phone without a sdcard (for those sdcards which comes with the phone everyone says these are good for creating a goldcard (said on the forums)) before two years)...
... and sorry for my really bad english
more than 140 views and no one replied...
wondering...
if XTC Clip can help me?
I wrote you a pm.
"Main version is older" is not something which a goldcard can fix...
But we can fix that :0)
We just need to get into the system, flash a different misc partition and you should be able to flash a different ruu file.
Once we have a matching spl/radio combo, we can flash a different combo matching your device (32A).
I have to say... many thanks to mumilover, because he wanted to help me. I told him in Monday that I ordered a XTC Clip by Raskal and I want to try it first... Today I got the Clip and successfully unlocked it... it said S-OFF and showed in fastboot:

it gives me "CID is super CID" and "setting.cid::11111111"
when the unlock succeeded I type in cmd:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
unpacked, the downloaded RUU and installed the "update"(downgrade):
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
everything went well! So now my phone works like new, but it is unlocked If someone will have same problem I suggest to buy a XTC Clip from Raskal...
Anyway, how can I make it solved?
How did you do it?
I have the same issue. My phone is stuck in ruu mode. I have an xtc clip but when I try it, it does nothing. I assume its because the phone is still stuck in ruu mode but how do I get it out of ruu mode?
Can you help me?
SPL and Radio are exactly as above.
Thanks.
Here is my exact device info.

To get into fastboot/hboot and get rid of ruu screen:
1.a. Download RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.1_test_signed_NoDriver.exe and extract it.
Find rom.zip and rom1.zip files
1.b. Or download rom.zip and rom1.zip
2. Put these zip files in the same folder where is fastboot.exe
3. Connect your phone to PC in RUU mode
4. Run the commands from the same directory:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
This will fail. Disconnect the phone, get the battery out for 10secs, put back and connect to PC.
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash zip rom1.zip
This will be successfully installed. And now you have fastboot/hboot. In XTC Clip make the goldcard. Put the card in the phone and power on with VOLUME_DOWN+POWER.

Thanks.
I figured this out last night but thanks anyway.
Just to add, to get back to a bootable system, I had to flash another rom after completing the above steps.
Is there a way to get the Tom and rom1 rehosted? If not where can i get it from?

You can get the ROM from HTC Dev. You need to sign up for an HTC Dev account and then go to the HTC bootunlocker page (you have to google as I'm not allowed to post the link). You can download the RUU there and then once downloaded open the file and when its open go to %temp% (or your temp file directory) and find the most recent modified folder. Inside of there you will find another folder which will contain, amongst other things rom[1].zip file(s).
rom.zip
rom1.zip
Awesome thanks

Flash it using fastboot commander, zip tab.
Unlock it using this link: http://htcdev.com/bootloader
Flash custom recovery
Flash eng hboot
Have complete freedom :0)
