Android update to HoneyComb? - A7 General

Is this en-route to get Honeycomb? anyone ever ask the eLocity Support?
Edit: I managed to e-mail them since the support offices were closed. I'll post the response when I receive it.

Official answer you can find at their site...

Q: Can the A7 be upgraded to Honeycomb 3.0?
Due to hardware issues, it is not expected that the operating system of the A7 can be upgraded to Honeycomb.

Maybe on the next generation of them that they are working on. I don't see it being all to successful on the current model.

When do the next models come out, and will they still be 299?

Not sure when they come out. Hell, i still cant find a pre-order for the a10 that was suposedly going to be available for pre-order on the 15th.
Price is definitely going up though. I think there was some pricing covered in a thread on here a couple days ago.

If it would never released for eLocity A7 - who would blame?

i think honeycomb would be a bad experience without multi-touch.

I dont think so, the a7 has all it takes to run HC. If the nook can so can we, multi touch
shouldnt be the decideing factor for not haveing HC on or A7. At least we have a one touch option.

From what I've read and heard Honeycomb wont work with the A7. This came from the elocity folks in their Q&A. Don't flame me for what they have posted on their site.

Well that just isn't true at all. The Motorola Xoom is a Tegra 2 device and it is the first 'official' Honeycomb tablet.

Lol is true. There's a lot more than a camera different here. Ram digitizer screen Res etc.

It takes a lot more than one piece of hardware in common to be even similar, nevermind almost identical... just saying.

It might be capable of handling Honeycomb 3.0, hopefully the devs can make the upgrade for Elocity A7. They did say it will be upgradable on A10, so cross your fingers and hope A7 gets one either to ginerbread or honeycomb.

I doubt this version of Android will work on any phone. At least not properly. It's built for tablets. I'm sure there's a handset version of this UI being developed now but we probably won't see that until late Spring or the Summer.

It can be scaled down. I wouldn't expect it to work properly anyway, since it would be an emulator port. I'm sure they are working on a phone version though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it booted on a phone. In fact, I'd be surprised if it didn't. What I was saying is that the framework is probably made specifically for tablet size displays. It'd probably be all broken on a small resolution.
Edit: If it did boot, you might be able to increase the software DPI but then everything would be super tiny and unusable as a day to day. Plus I don't know if the Adreno 200 GPU drivers would play nice with the new 2D/3D acceleration. So it might not work correctly or even boot on our EVOs.

You make some very good points. I did boot, within the emulator, to a 4.3 inch screen and it looked usable. Your point about the drivers is well taken though. That could be a big issue. Hopefully some enterprising dev will try to find out.
By the way...anyone know how to change the screen orientation in the emulator?

The Galaxy tab will get Android 3.0 Honeycomb

The above rumors that Honeycomb was going to require a dual-core processor have been denied! Lots of tablet owners wrote all over the internet (and in our comments) that they are worried that the next Android OS won’t be available on Galaxy Tab. A few hours ago, Dan Morrill from Android Team denied the rumors through a tweet saying : “there’s no hard minimum for Honeycomb”.
So good news guys, don’t worry, enjoy your tee , coffee, sleep and wait for Honeycomb to be released so we can enjoy it!
http-://xxx.thegalaxytab.com/2011/01/04/samsung-galaxy-tab-might-not-receive-android-honeycomb-update/
Old, old, news! This wasn't reported a few hours ago - it was a few weeks ago! See here.
FYI, this doesn't confirm that the Tab *will* get Honeycomb from Samsung - only that it is almost certainly capable of running on Honeycomb.
Regards,
Dave
Old. Also, tea not tee.
I think the fact that a new Galaxy Tab 2 is coming soon pretty much puts a nail in the coffin for a official honeycomb update. Who uses official ROMS anyways though. XDA will have one.
It's always good to have an official update. It's always a good mine of useful driver updates, mini bugfixes etc.
It also prolongs the life of the device: it'll be sold for a longer time, so it'll sell more, which means more devices and more interest in the wild, better and wider array of accessories etc.

The limited edition which was given out at IO does not come with Touch Wiz. That doesn't say the regular edition won't.
Hard to believe Samsung will be pushing out updates 2 weeks behind Google when they are 6 months+ behind on their older devices. Then again Samsung are all sales and no after care, if they do roll out Honeycomb 3.1 in 2 weeks it'll be back to normal for Ice Cream I'm sure when they are busy selling some other new product!

This is my first Android tablet and i love it . It has a lot more potation than the iPad. But i think it is build on a different kind of experience than the iPad. I have had a iPad since the 1g came out. And i needed a change form iOS, I also have a rooted HTC Evo 4G so i knew how android was. But the UI in Honeycomb is a lot more polished than Gingerbread.

[LEAK] Motorola Bionic Android 4.0 ICS build

Don't know if anyone saw this, but apparently an ICS build leaked for the Motorola Bionic. Might be useful for some developers.
You can check out the thread here.

And still no leak for Atrix
It's not a Tegra device so I doubt it would help much. At this point I'm guessing Nvidia may be the hold up as both the Atrix and Optimus 2X haven't seen anything yet.
It makes sense that all these builds are leaking now, they're all omap devices like the razr.
