Anyone received this update in US tmobile vibrant?
http://androinica.com/2011/01/18/an...-galaxy-s-now-rolling-out-via-kies/#idc-cover
Does this update wipe phone data and do we have to re-root?
Thanks.
That is for the i9000.

My Vibrant had the red and blue arrows but gave me an error when I clicked on the notification.

EDIT: Nevermind...
Delete this.
That article is from Jan 18, 2011 and I don't think its for the US vibrant the US galaxy s owners really get the $hit end of the stick when it comes to anything its like they forgot all about us But check the Dev forum theres some good 2.2 roms out.
I just received the option to update today. I live in California.
Im rooted, running bionix, overclocked..etc..etc..
The update is over kies mini only for tmobile for 2.2. I been getting dm disconnect and dunno what that's all about but update isn't OTA so doubt it has to do with that tho.

There is definitely some kind of update being pushed out OTA. My phone is updating now.
The KA6 they sent us is most likely a Beta Update (Performance regressed compared to JI6), so I wouldn't be surprised if they were working on another (really official OTA) update.
I don't even think all the US Galaxy S variants have FroYo yet... Aren't T-Mobile still the only ones? I think it was because the #NeverAgain campaign was composed primarily of Vibrant users (following the Vibrant 4G announcement).
They threw us a bone.
There is a new 2.1 OTA also! Not sure if this is what you got!
Rockin that Bionix V 1.2.1 w/ Androdena V5.1

Just wanted to say that I'm sick and tired of waiting on froyo, everyone has already gotten it or is in the process of getting it. Even the mytouch3g. Anyone who knows any valuable information on this please post and let us know. And by valuable info I mean when we will be getting it

Says who? The Europe upgrades are getting pushed back till next month, and our will come well after that.
Samsung tweeted that froyo updates will roll out in November and all phones should have it by end of November.

This is true. Its reported on engadget today that the initial froyo updates where pulled due to "not awesomeness" but that Samsung promised increased performance along with all the other good **** that is froyo

Nevermind, read the new post
Well then, a new post is up from Engadget. This one does sound good
Our update will come from Verizon, not Samsung, so ignore any and all release dates in press releases from Samsung that do not mention Verizon or the Fascinate by name.

The update may come from Verizon, but I'm guessing that they give Samsung a list of what they want the update to include (bloatware, settings, etc.) and Samsung is the one responsible for getting the update out with Verizon's specs. While I'd agree that you can't believe it until it's mentioned specifically, if they say all carriers and actually mean it, then it's better than nothing.
So after much thought I have decided to at least keep this phone until LTE. It has probably the most truly capable hardware ever put n a phone. The CPU/ Gpu is great. The camera/ camcorder is second only to iPhone. Screen is great. But Samsung lack of support for their products is discouraging at the least. The phone came out after phones with froyo(D2 ) had already launched. I love this phone. See why people hate Samsung

If we are rooted, will the update take without doing something special?
Sent from my Fascinate
more than likely not. As I am sure you have removed the bloatware. In all I would say the easiest thing would be to Odin back to stock with Odin(when the update comes). That would ne the easiest.

Anybody heard anything about android 2.2 update being sent out by Verizon this week or next?
Sent from my Samsung Continuum using XDA App
Not to knock on the Continuum, but I'd think that the update will come out after the Fascinate update, or at least close to the Fascinate update. Given that no reliable source has given an update date or time frame, I'd say we're probably still 3-4 weeks away from an update at best.
Thanks...and you're right fascinate should get update first

Does anyone know when the Bell Galaxys are going to get the update. I looked everywhere for any info on the date, but couldn't find anything...

This month?
I heard by the end of the month but don't get your hopes up to high. Were talking about Bell here.
Just go custom rom. I've been running gingerbread on bell for the past two months.
I kind of don't want to send my phone 3rd time for a repair... I've heard that a 'Bell-friendly' bootloader prevents the sd from corrupting. That's why I stick to kc1...

Although that's been widely speculated, I don't think there's any proof of that.
More likely the failures were due to bad hardware manufactured before December 2010. But no one knows for sure.
No problem with the Gingerbread bootloader for me after a month.

I have a Bell Vibrant I got on release day in August. Manufacture date is 07/10 and I have flashed it numerous times with very few issues. I have Darky 10.1 right now and all is well. Just luck of the draw I guess.

I had a few of them die on me, it was the original secondary boot loader that was causing the issue. I've had no problems since then. I'm running Darky's 10.1 on my phone the last week and it's been pretty good. There are a few very minor bugs compared to 9.5 but generally it's very smooth.
Oh and BTW, I've flashed at least 5 bell phones with darky's 9.x and had them running for months without dying.
Ok, last question - does superoneclick root jvo? Root is a must for me, but I don't wanna flash rooted kernel (I've got trust issues, I know )...

No ****, got mine at Best Buy too. Maybe they got all the non defective ones. I used the $75 gift card for a 16GB micro sd.
To be fair though, I didn't flash mine until after bootloader update, all the corrupt sd's I read about on here scared the piss out of me.

I am running JVO now with Chainfire's CF Root but checked last night using my fiance's phone and noticed that there was a Kies update dated 28-05-2011; so, keep your fingers crossed that a new firmware version will be release really soon!
if that is Ginger for you guys can you post the modem file?
Sorry for the confusion but it was only Kies that got the update; so, no Gingerbread for I9000M as yet...
Ok I am gonna state this once and only once. I have cleaned up the thread and will be looking into past posts as well. This type of talk will not be tolerated on XDA. If you feel the need to insult each other and Calling people names, well maybe you should find somewhere else to do it. I am gonna give a warning here as normally I would just you on a vaca. Take this as my only warning. Swearing and insults will not be tolerated
Thanx, Zelendel,
I know I overreacted. But I just couldn't leave the guy's insult without an answer. The guy is a bully and bullies understand only one language.
If you read his old posts, you'll get what I mean!

So, back to the actual topic, has anyone any new info on when this will be released? I've talked to a couple Bell employees, One of which had no idea, while the other said it was out already (probably thought KC1 was 2.3). Anyway, any news?
Based on previous updates very late, why not use a custom rom and kernel now, why wait?

We got 2.2 about a month to a month and a half after the initial release in the Nordic Regions. I suspect the same with this one. So around mid-June to early July but it's a guess.
If by 'Bell employee' you mean the retail shop employees, they have no idea... I asked a couple of them back in November about the froyo update and each told a different story.
I am affraid that this time we'll get the update very late. I think they will try to make 100% sure not to get into the 'december crisis' again.

Are we gettin an update for gingerbread 2.3 tru samsung kies? i read that sgs gt-i9000 got the update already.... Is that the official? are we gonna get that to for our sgs vibrant... Thanks....
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I was wondering the same thing!
I9000 was the 1st SGS and is also unhindered by carriers restrictions.
The us will get 2.3 on the us galaxy s phones when the carriers decide they want to release it.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Ask yourself: Knowing Samsung, would you really want download the stock version of 2.3 thru Kies or wait for one of our awesome devs. to get a hold of it and make it better (I'm counting on you Team Whiskey). I rather wait since I'm running flawless BionixV1.3.1 I'm in no hurry.
Bionix 1.3.1 is awesome lol

Oh I got it... So our carriers will make the last decision if were gettin the official update.im thinking tmobile wont give us the update. Cause nobody will upgrade there phone if our vibrant will get gingerbread and tmobile wont get any contract renew from all thier virant customers. Cause,im now upgrading to any new ginger phone that they have I git official update...

Spoke to Samsung last night, they said the touchwiz update was pulled due to software issue. The update will be rolling back out in the next 2 weeks.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Now what does that mean, exactly?
Are they gonna send out another update with touchwiz removed or are they going to release a rom with touchwiz fixed? - Since they cannot de-install the updated rom on our devices(...LOL) ?
Sorry, I am affraid I do not understand '...the update will be rolling back out'
They should be (I don't know for sure) sending out an update to the users who already have the touchwiz update... the 4G lte people will finally receive the update with the fixes...
