Hi Everyone
I am planning to develop a Horoscope application for Android 2.1 + and need some help, advice on how I could go about it, apologies for the lame idea but I need to do this for a specific audience that do not have such application available for their language. I have not developed anything of this level of complexity and need some assistance if possible.
The app will need to look similar to this comitic.com/android/dailyhoroscope-application and will be free source for an audience of another language, the Horoscope readings are taken from a specified RSS feed.
I am using the latest Eclipse IDE with Android SDK for development.
If anyone has any source code that could help, please let me know.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Any comments are welcome

As this is related to development, I thought I would post it in this section. Mods, if this type of post isn't allowed or is in the wrong section, please feel free to do with it as you wish.
If you are anyone you know is a C# or VB.net programmer, and they like doing work for open-source type projects, please leave a reply below, PM me or send me a message using http://www.myhtcphone.com/contact
I have a project that needs a few talented programmers. There may or may not be pay initially, depends on my budget and the programmer. But there will be pay later on. Potentially a lot of pay if this project falls into place correctly.
Skills I am looking for are experience designing network-accessing programs, user interface programming and database integration.

hiya there, im a complete noob to the developing software, well android for that matter. i see post after post of people developing and i just want to learn how to do it myself. you always appreciate things more if you know how they developed and the hard work gone in to them.
so please share the developing love and share your knowledge.
also are there any books available that may help?
many thanks
If you don't know java, you need to learn that first. There's always a dozen or so threads here every week with someone wanting to know where to start. So look at one of those for suggestions on websites and java books.
If you already know java, then go to the link below and read everything and work thru the tutorials.

Most people use Eclipse as the development tool. You can find some information on setting up Eclipse in my blog.

thank you buddy just wanting to contribute to the android world
If eclipse isnt your cup of tea then try Intellij. I find it much better than eclipse. The code completion, generation and analysis is top notch
From something awesome
Cheers I will try that out

I would recommend starting with Android App Inventor.
It's a relatively simple way for non devs to get started developing for Android.
I have decades of dev experience but a few months ago I was new to Android, and pretty new to Java,
AI allowed me to quickly jump into Android dev.
Unfortunately it's difficult to make a professional app using AI, so now I use the SDK and NDK, but much of what I learned in AI was transferable to the SDK/NDK environment.
Also, look at Droid Draw. It lets you drag and drop objects to create relatively simple apps. The advantage is that you can then review the java and xml files (the code behind what you created) that Droid Draw generates. There are different ways to learn...I like the "by example" way.
Hello guys, I'm pretty new to WP8 and I'd like to learn app development for WP8 platform. For instance I'd like to start by learning tools and system to develop a simple app that helps users to know about bus hours for specified locations.
I think I'm going to need using a simple db for it and from my code I'll have to call db tables, right?
How can I start developing my first wp app? Please assist.

HI .
The first step is that see how much you know about C# Codes .
If(!C#.Knowledge)
{
use AppStudio;
}
else
{
get VS 2013
}
if you know C# well get VS2013 . use Channel 9 and MSDN Libraries for Sample Codes and Starting Guides .
You have to know Xaml Codes (not needed very much. You will learn it while you code (exactly like me)).

Well, you don't *need* to use C#. You can also use VB.NET (or C++, if you want to work at a lower level).
Microsoft has a number of "Getting started with Windows Phone app development" tutorials. Like, a tremendous amount, really. They assume you're using the SDK (which comes with a free Express version of VS) though; AppStudio is newer, although there are probably tutorials for it too.
Hi xda-developers,
I'm Jamie, a 14 year old programmer in the United Kingdom. I know HTML, CSS, Python, Php, MySql and the basics of Java and Objective C. I've come up with an idea for a never-made-before application for iOS and Android. Although, only knowing the basics of Java and Objective C, I'm struggling with developing the application for iOS and Android. I'm offering an intermediate developer the opportunity to develop the application alongside me and take 15% ownership of all revenue generated by the application. The application will cost $0.99¢ or £0.58 on both the Google Play Store and App Store. This application will take media through Google's API to a brand new level.
Who's interested?
Thanks,

Hi Somto,
You said that you are a beginner. I need an advanced-intermediate programmer to help me develop the application. But, you could be sufficient in bringing new ideas on board to the application! However, I'd like to know what programming skills you have so far. Could you tell me?
Best,
Jamie Mathieson

Hey jamie I appreciate and admire u want higher expert skills but am considerably good anyway and am always fresh with graphic ideas besides anything I really cant do I post it on xda .

Hey folks! My startup accelerator just got a new project which is intended to increase the speed of android apps development. While we don't have any app developers in the company we need some external comments about the idea of this project to estimate its necessity. By the moment, the only thing that we got is the website rocketdroid.io - and its creators claim, that it is enough for the experienced developer to understand what they offer. Please take a look at it. I would really appreciate any comments about that, at least smth like:
-Necessity, whether you would need such a thing, do you think this project would be helpful for your development work?
-If not, what tools do you currently use to adress the issue of time consumption while rebuilding
-If yes, would you be willing to pay for such a product?
Thanks in advance!
p.s. its not an advetisment
