Which Navigation app? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello,
Which navigation app works better on Anroid mode in HD2?
Do you know which is best for Greece?

Hello,
I use IGO My way for androïd, you can use this skin for iGO My way™ for Android 800x480_motogis or this one Skin 12Carrera12 Sbertaud13 Androïd V7.0d EUR+ you can find help and tutorial here : mioskins.org ( in french) the other forum is here considered warez so google is your friend...

I am using Sygic Aura, small lags in 3D maps, but its best navigation software on market ...

Hi there. I'm also a keen user of Sygic Aura and I haven't actually noticed any lags. Its really smooth and quite precise. I can recommend it with no doubt.

big fan of regular Google Maps/Navigation here
edit: just realized you said greece no idea if google map/navigation is good there.

I use google maps and Sygic Aura , works great! not any lag of somekind.

google maps works great!

Personal preference is IGo and Sygic Aura isn't too bad either. But do you really need '3D' - is it not better to have an accurate plane 2d representation of the road ahead?
Still to try Sygic Mobile Maps and NDrive so can't comment on them.
Forget Navigon - untidy UI and routing is simply nonsensical.

I am using IGO8 and it works fine. I have maps for N.America, Costa Rica, Singapore, Philippines, and HK and they all work on my GB 2.3.2.

Navdroyd
I use Navdroyd , but its not really suitable for daily use. (not the best usability, house numbers, sometimes strange rout) but its with the cool & open source Open Streetmap map. But it is beeing constantly improved.
For daily use i think, google navigation is pretty good.

Hi I'm new to the forum. And new to android. I'm having trouble installing any sat navigation on my hd2 running gingerbread. I've tried just about all the recommended apps with no luck. Any thing I should know lol

hi, does the igo8 you're using has working text to speech?

I dont use it much, so I just went into the settings to have a look. I have no selection for text to speech. Is that an add on or something?

Navigation

Hi all, just bought my HD2 and i'm searching for some navigation software, I saw the TomTom version being installed on the HD2 is the same as on my old HTC Elf, so I'm a bit confused, what's the best navigation software for our device? Just shoot!
Thankz
I have used both TomTom and iGO8 both work for me. But being a long term Tomtom user tend to use that the most
i have tom tom, but am yet to give it a good work out(so to speak)
thankz for the input!
TomTom user here, too. Been very happy with it on my TyTnII, looking forward to experiencing it on an HD2. Though every now and again the maps are not 100% accurate (like sending you down a fire road in very rural areas) that applies to any navigation product. I find it easy to use, reliable and there's a large community of TomTom users out there to get help from.
Just installed TomTom, i'll try IGO8 also, looks promising
I love my Copilot live (Version 8) with TTS and Live Traffic. Roxxx!
And: after 3 years of usage (including Live traffic) it has cost almost as much as navigon (30 € Copilot + 5€ TTS + 3x20€ Live Traffic) and: It is much better (in my humble opinion).

Same here, but I don't use the TTS service.
Can safely say that it is pretty impressive, especially as it was cheap too.
My CoPilot 8 trial has just ended and was considering purchasing the full version... (£26.99 for UK/Ireland & £59.99 for Europe)
im using tomtom too. works well and connects to satellite pretty fast bout 20-30seconds.
after a long search I decided to use IGO8, I'm really surprised about this navigation software, love it!

I have tried TOMTOM, IGO8, TELENAV, DESTINATOR, for me and my uses, I stick with and will continue to use GARMINXT, all the extra fancy crap is overkill, it works great. you should try them all and find out which one, in your opinion, is best for you.
Currently have Garminxt - Tomtom -IGo8 - route66 - ndrive each have their own plus and conns garminxt is really good for finding things through google, tomtom is simple and does the job(die hard) igo8 is stunning to look at and runs on the hd2 like silk with no gps lag like the others and the arrow movement is soo smooth, but its pio's are not accurate, was a loyal tomtom user but igo8 has edged it and is the one i will always use first.
I've been looking at this too. CoPilot is very smooth. I must say I am very surprised by it. Saw a demo comparing the performance of both CoPilot and TomTom on YouTube, (nice look at the HD2 too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHB_8_4cBw4
I have always used tomtom on my Touch HD despite the GPS Lag. Looks like the HD2 has the same problems. What do people think?
yep same lag, but also had lag on my xperia x1, for me on hd2 igo8 rules.
WAZE
its a great app.. turn by turn navi.. plus its FREE!!!! and it has soo many features that other gps navi's do not..
I have always used Garmin Mobile XT and on this phone it is no different. Always works get a lock in 10sec and I am on the move with pinpoint POI placement for speed-camera warning and easy integration of custom POI.
Been using it the last week and the large screen makes this application even better and the colour and contrast is very very good.
Have not used the others but am impressed with Garmin Mobile XT.

GPS software.

hi all.
i have always used tomtom on my previous windows phones.
im presuming tomtom is not available for android yet.
soooooooooooooooo....
what can we use instead?
google maps is an ok alternative but its not what i like as a long term sat nav..
i tried navigon but well... erm... its worse than google maps..
im currently using copilot proffesional and for use in the car its great...
BUT... the audio stops outputting when the application is minimised or the screen is off..
im looking for a reliable sat nav install that still outputs directions in audio while the screen is off and locked or,,, could make do with it just been locked. as i use it on my motorbike and use headphones with the phone in my pocket..
i'm just about to try sygic mate
will let u know how i get on
I miss tomtom, tried sygic and it is not that user friendly.
Any other better GPS app available so far?
Yes, and there are tons of threads on this topic. Do a search!
I tried them virtually all:
SYGIC around 8MB
COPILOT has the most settings and options, shows speed
NAVIGON
IGO MOTONAV takes most of space, almost 30MB, excellent TOPMAPS
NDRIVE
NAVDROYD cheap 5€ only !

I am looking for iGO gps maps for South East Asia.
iGO gps maps for South East Asia

Navigation of the google or NDRIVE.
But what is the best of Navigation.
I am using Navigon Select and it works perfectly with my HTC Desire.
It´s very smooth and easy to handle.

[Q] GPS for Android

Hi,
I am using Winmo Energy ROM & Android Froyosense 2.2
I always use Garmin mobile XT for my gps, but i don't know what gps software should i use when i am on android?
thanks
I am happily using Sygic Mobil Maps
You could also try Ndrive available from the market
There is IGOmyway available as well. I use it right now
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Thanks
I'll try them to find which one is more suitable for me ( especially the need of Indonesia's map )
thanks again guys
ROnald
They all suck compared to Garmin. Hopefully they come up with an Android version. All though the one that come on the Desire HD seemed pretty swell! Tried it out for a bit but had to give up on the rom.

what is the software's name?
I tried one by one from previous replier, but it seems that i have to buy for the map/software
thanks
I don't except using GPS in android at all.....
Garmin is not free either. Hasn't been available by retail for a few years. Unless you find a hacked version. Or purchased it a few years ago.
And with a little googling you should be able to find igo or ndrive too. Igo can be a pain to set up and get working correctly on the HD2. Ndrive was a breeze. I have both.
You can always use the FREE google navigation app as long as you have a data connection. Also somewhere on xda someone has developed BRUT google maps. Where you can cache maps and add them to your storage card so you can use the app without having a data connection.
Ndrive is by far the best behind google maps. Its has a nice GUI, and so far routing has been pretty good for me.

Google Maps App

Hi everybody, and welcome.
Would it be difficult to make an app for Google Maps similar to the one that iPhone has (maps rotating using compass, adding favs or sync with google account). Though the most imoprtant thing is compass amd rotation...
Best regards
Maciek
Bada needs good navigation app. For now route66 is having lot of bugs and we need google maps for bada
There is a modified Java version of GoogleMap for the Wave.
I found it on badaforums.net and it's working.
Not perfect but enough for me
hi...
y not just share the link 4 google maps u r using
Here you are... You'll probably have to search thru the topic to have the good version since I had it since I had my Wave so it's quite a long time ago.
Route66 is a LOT better than both Sygic Aura and NDrive on Android. I have tried them all and prefer Route66 on Bada to these two. I will never understand why these apps do not use native keyboard on Android? NDrive is the ugliest and most annoying to use one and Sygic's usability and UI sucks.

Maybe in you contry... - nDrive is very fast compared with Route66
Let's don't talk about Android, in that case iGO is the best
I agree with googlemaps native for bada. Java version needs many improvements.
Hopefully come out soon

+1 for igo
I really like Copilot. Have had no problems with it and the interface is cool.
Can't find igo in market it is named something else
Device HTC Desire
Rom RcmMixSv08
SD class 4 6.40gb fat32 / 1gb ext3
S OFF
Radio 5.11.05.14
Hboot 0.93.1000
custom hboot Alpharev Cm7
Recovery Alpharev Cmw 2.5.1.8
Fake Flash Cwm 3.0.0.5
Copilot works fine for me too
#1 iGO myWay
#2 Aura
at least for me
I used IGO on my previous phone, but now I'm using Aura.
Both good, and always pointed me to my destination.
I've tried plenty of them. I think I should try iGO next as people seem to like it. Here's my opinions on some of the most popular navigators.
CoPilot Live 8 is quite solid one. It has a lot of features and POI:s everywhere. The UI is very smooth and fast, maybe the best you can get on phone navigator. The only downside is battery usage. From all the navigators I've tried, this definitely uses the most battery. I could drain almost 20% battery with less than 1 hour drive. So if you need to navigate without having a charger or spare battery at hand, I wouldn't recommend CoPilot.
NDrive 10 This is a real beast with battery, but it has it's costs - the UI is clutchy and laggy. Searching places is a real pain in the ass, because the keyboard NDrive uses is some custom one with strange position of keys. Some features are well hidden to menus, for example it was really hard to navigate a premade route. I would not recommend this program unless you need the navigating software that doesn't take all your battery.
Navigon After some difficulties with Gingerbread Android I finally got my hands on the newest Navigon and so far the experience has been good. The setup was hardest for all these navigators, as I had to use some quite laggy and badly translated PC program to download maps. Other option was to download them directly from phone, which was extremely slow and for some reason it only downloaded maps to another continent.
Navigon has quite smooth UI and seems to have plenty of features, although I am not sure if it has as much as CoPilot. Battery usage seems to be somewhere in between Copilot and NDrive.
Google Maps seems to be quite simple navigator and that's probably all what I need, not any fancy internet features as some of these navigators offer. The bad thing about Google Maps is that it hasn't got turn-by-turn navigation where I live. Maybe some day I can try navigating with Google Maps so I can tell how it compares to these other ones on the market.
I hope you got any help from these short reviews. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask!
Aura for me works perfectly.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
For offline navigation I use Aura GPS Navigation. But in my country I use Google Maps (brut for navigation ), it's the best.
I wanted to install iGo8, i did as well , but i removed it because of the lack of the possibility to move it to SD. If it's possible than please somebody tell me the trick, 'cause I used to have igo on my touch HD and I loved it.
igo primo +1
+1 igo 8 primo
Thnxx guyz for the response... I installed IGO .. and yehs it is good.. next thing I wanna try is Aura GPS... thnkx anyways
