Internal memory, which is 16Gb, if you check, isn't 16Gb, because a portion of it is reserved. Part is reserved as a space for the normal operating system and apps to store their cache/etc. Part is reserved as space to hold a compressed image of the original os/apps from which to recover from??

Sorry it took this long.
/system/etc/
Jeez! There's like 40 files in there, but there is a wifi folder and a wifi.conf file.
Wifi folder has like 50 files, and the wpa_supplicant.conf file.
This file comparison is not the way to go. What rom are you using? Can you reflash that?
Im on stock vzw rom.

Have you considered flashing a new rom? It will replace any missing files or folders.
It isn't very hard to do, just a few people mess up the steps. Look in the development section and see if there are verizon roms, or verizon stock.
Otherwise, if you post your file list I will compare with mine, but that is a huge amount of work.

I have been considering on doing that but I haven't found any vzw stock roms, the only one I've seen around is the k-lean rom.
In essence if I have flash a stock rom I get everything back in place?
If you happen to see any vzw stock roms around please link me. I've searched around but they all seem to be down.

Yes, and any other rom you flash will replace what is missing.

Can anyone tell me what the Data.img files are for? nearly every version of android i download comes with a 512 Data and 1024 data but I don't know what they are for and I cant get android to run on my HD2
Thanks in advance
The file data.img is basically where the Android system lives. It's similar to internal storage on a WinMo phone.
If you're having problems running Android, why not give us more information. Most importantly, which radio does your device have?

Okay thanks,
I have tried about 4 diffrent android versions, most of them are stuck at the "jumpin to kernel (custom)" bit, the furthest I got was it was loading but then the writing just faded away and I had to take out my battery,
My radio is 2.07.51.22_2
Your radio isn't suitable for Android. There's a sticky thread about installing Android. I suggest you start there.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Thanks but could you please give me a link?
I cant seem to find it
Thanks!

Any advice?

If there's a file called data.img included in the build then there may be a problem. If there isn't then it creates one when you first boot. Depending on the Android build, the size of the data.img and your SD card, this can take anything up to half an hour (I've read some people report longer). Sometimes it can be 5 minutes though.
If you got to the HTC logo and stopped the process then it may have started to create data.img, but then stopped when you powered down the phone. If that's the case then delete it and start Android over again. This time leave it for longer and come back if it still doesn't work.

Hello, guys.
I want back to stock because of service reasons. I have cyanogenmod 3.7.0, android version 2.3.6
Now I downloaded the file (6.5 update) from HTC sites, and I'm curious about few things. The file contain 210 mb or so, and on my HTC I have 199 mb left on the internal memory - could this occure any problems regarding the install?
Also, I downloaded Minitool partition wizzard program to delete all partitions on my SD card and return back to FAT32.
Is this a hard task? Please, I really need help!!
Also after all this has been done, should I turn off the phone, hold volume down button and power on and get into boot mode, plug in USB, wait for USB-recognision, and then just run the file I downloaded from HTC?
Please help!!
#thanks to tmihai20 for help!

I would guess those steps are fine, and how would your internal storage have any effect on flashing a new ROM which overwrites it anyway? But yeah, you should be good to go now.

But I should unmount the SD-card by doing it the safe way, delete partitions, make FAT32, mount in - turn off phone and then flash the rom?
This is the rom i downloaded from htc

Oh yeah? Do you have the t-mobile version of htc HD2?
And by NAND, you mean other roms probably.
Could perhaps give it a try, but I think my phone has a motherboard problem, as it overheats very fast.
Haven't you had any problems with MIUI? which miui do u use?
Every way people suggest will not work, as I need to reset the tablet before it boots (password is set) and I bought this off craigs
A bootloader solution is what I need..
Maybe I can just root and install a new rom? If so, what steps and what rom is the most stable? Thanks

you just have to put the firmware update on the micro sd, in a subfolder in the instructions in the download it tells you which folder
you then just pull the battery and reboot- it sees the folder and updates it.
only issue is it originally thought I was in London but that was easily resolved .
just make sure you look under the battery for the right model information

i would not doubt it
i dont know the change log
but i have seen two users report the 13.2.2.2 update
it could not be anything more than to mess up the work around that people have been getting away with by updating the build.prop
because when i try to change the build.prop to 14.3.2.2_user_322095220 in all the right places and try to save it the way i did before using root explorer it saves as 0 kb and is blank when i look at it.so i delete it and change the build.prop.bak file that is created when changing the build.prop back to build.prop because i am afraid to reboot with the blank one in fear of a brick

Google "hdx 8.9 download"
Find the Amazon page that lets you manually download the updates
The download link points to 14.3.2.1..
Copy that link into a new browser window and edit it in two places
this is for 8.9 obviously

What Changed?
Wonder what changed... the recovery, kernel(s) and system apps all appear to be the same. There must be some critical bugs that had to be urgently patched with this latest update coming so quick on the tail of the 13.3.2.1 update.
[Edit]Upon closer inspection, looks like there are some noticeable changes in the following apps:
WhisperlinkSdk.apk
WhisperplayActivityView.apk
WhisperplayCDSSettings.apk
WhisperplayCore.apk
WhisperplayQCSource.apk
com.amazon.communication.apk
com.amazon.tcomm.apk

I've updated 13.3.2.2, somehow opened when the machine is updated immediately so!!
I wonder if it would be possible to insert the SU binaries in this new update and then manually install it without breaking the signature
I just did a manual "Check Update" on my HDX 7 and it said no new updates, but only has 13.3.2.1.
I did sniff the traffic from the Kindle during this check and found that it contacted "softwareupdates.amazon.com" - which I now blocked in my router for what its worth.
Captured packets attached just in case they're useful.
Well crap. Blocking the server as above on my home LAN did stop the update from ever happening but I forgot to turn WiFi off at School and what do you know, 13.2.2 snuck right on in in a matter of minutes

install safestrap on both stock and rom slot one
so it will not be able to fully update it will bootloop back to safestrap according to GSLEON3
Update the hosts file on the kindle to point to localhost(127.0.0.1) or something. That might, or might not offer some help on WiFi you don't control. You'll need to still have root to do this of course.
I want to Install the Fonts i attached in the Post JameelNooriNastaleq in My OnePlus 6T Android 10 Rooted Device but Im afraid from boot loop and losting my data.
Have anyone try it ??
I personally find safier to use Font Changer Magisk module
If that's a Magisk Module then you can flash it. If things go South, it's pretty easy to remove

Try what? It's just a zip with font files in it.. That can't be flashed. You need to extract those ttf files and import them into an app/module like @Striatum_bdr mentioned. Not everything works right now. I tried Fontio a few days ago and it wouldn't load any fonts in Substratum.

System fonts are quite tricky to change that's why I good you towards the Magisk module that let you 'import' your own font files without any risk
