You will have to flash a verizon prl. Also make sure the settings in qpst revert back to verizon...especially the ppp configs. If it was properly flashed to cricket, flashing the modem alone won't do it. More them likely, all the settings will have to be corrected.
yep. you will need to enter all the VZN info that was removed to have it hooked up on cricket and you will also have to hope the phone isnt blacklisted on VZN's ESN list. if it is your friend will have a nice android MP3 player that he can play games on.

Yeah...typically phones that nice on cricket have bad esns
Is there a guide somewhere to putting all the VZN settings back in? And he said the guy said the ESN was good.

I'll check to see if I saved a file. Do you have a fascinate?
Don't have it anymore. But try grabbing and flashing this prl. Then *228 to see if it can activate. If it activates but you don't get net or mms, then let me know and I will walk you through it.

Ok...download the samsung drivers and a program called qpst. I hear Build 355 is out haven't had a chance to use that one but should be the same. Anyways, hook up your phone to qpst and switch it to dial up networking. Select add new port and find which port you hooked it up to. Name the port COMX (put the port # where x is). Under label name it usb. Hit enter then find the phone and click it. Then select service programming. Then go to the roam tab and then go down to the send file option select browse and locate the prl and then select flash to phone. Make sure it is a *prl and not a zip. Phone will reboot and then attempt *228. Im not infront of the computer but thats the gist. If you can't get it let me know and I will attempt a complete walkthrough. Im on my phone so it's a wee difficult.

after trying to port a rom from the epic, i realized that i forgot to remove their pst apps so it rewrote some values to my fascinate. calls/sms work but data only works sometimes and reboots the radio often. Im going to try flashing that prl file with qpst. if that doesnt work do you mind walking me through a possible way to fix data?
I would love to see a walkthrough on this ... i'm not really understanding how to get the dial-up networking to work since i cant even do anything but attempt to activate on roaming

Depending on what software you're on...dun can be accessed through the wirless network settings or **33284 ( Then enter spc 000000).
And actually I think I just figured out a simple way to get settings back to vzw. use qpst build 355 and input all the correct cdma info for verizon. And hit write to phone. The phones are prewired for three g only through vzw and that build of qpst will not be able to rewrite the settings so upon reboot the original vzw settings and password will reappear.

You can...it's just more work. And depending on the carrier, like sprint, requires you know someone that will add your flashed phone to the database. There are methods...but as they violate certain laws I cannot discuss on this forum. Since the fascinate is a verizon phone it's software is typically already hard wired for big red. So apn and nv values will revert upon incomplete programming. It's rather simple to flash a phone back to verizon.

Well I know this has been discussed but never in it's entirety. I would like to put together a how to but won't be able to until my girlfriend signs up for metro. But here's what I got First thing you'll have to get your msl (look in my signature). Second you'll have to get the prl from here (these guys have a pretty extensive list of prls including cricket and so fourth). Place that on the root of your sdcard. On your phones dialer push ##prl# . A menu will come up saying "enter code", enter you msl. Then a menu will come up with one choice "update prl". Click it a new menu will come up called epst. Click on folders and choose sdcard. Now push the back key to get the keypad to go away. there will be a selection with a prl file click that and then press okay. It will go back to the previous menu. Click menu and commit modifications. It will ask if your sure then click ok and then it will reboot. Check your prl to make sure it went through should be good.
Okay gonna post this for now if you already have metro on this phone please do a nandroid and post it and i will do a more thorough guide I'm not done with this by far
Note to self ##data# /dataprofile/dsa server = remove this to stop downloading sprint stuff
so im guessing by far u meant u wouldnt finish this by far
Well I wish this was complete.
dude just go to metro pcs they will do it for u and yes when i was rhinking about doing it he said daTA will work and u qould have to pay the activation fee anyway on your firsts months bill so please stop bumping threads
Thank you captain obvious but if u knew any better you'd know Metro will flash only to enable Phone calls and text, no data.

If your on 2.2 you can use CDMA Workshop to change your PRL. Open cdma workshop, connect the phone by picking the right com port and hit connect, go under the "other" tab, under PRL hit WRITE, then navigate to your saved PRL
Password is MSL. Go in dev section to find out how to get yours

Hey everyone, after some research/testing ive been able to write a new PRL to the Hero! This means you can have 3G, even with no Sprint EVDO coverage!
THIS IS POSSIBLY DANGEROUS!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IN ANYWAY FOR ANY LOSS OF PROPERTY OR MONEY! DO THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK. READ THIS ENTIRE THREAD BEFORE TRYING ANYTHING.
That being said, this is most likely frowned upon by sprint, so do so at your own ethical reason as well.
I did this with a stock, 2.1 hero; i have not tested it on anything else.
Insperation for it here, done on the evo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696073
Ive also found that i now almost ALWAYS have max bars.
What youll need:
HTC Hero Diag Drivers:
http://rs79.rapidshare.com/files/293529424/HTC_Hero_DIAG_Drivers.zip
CDMA Workshop:
http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop/demo/cdma_workshop.rar
New PRL:
http://dana.ucc.nau.edu/add46/00001.prl
Start by installing the diag driver, as well as the normal hero drivers.
Then go to the dialer and enter ##DIAG#
Open CDMA Workshop, assign your COM port.
Press connect then read and verify the information on the left.
Finally, go to the "Other" tab, select write under "PRL" and choose your new prl
When you see the finished message, reboot your phone.
Go to settings and updated your data profile, then, enjoy!
To revert
Just update your PRL from Settings

How is this any different that Techknowfiles PRLs that he created for using the old Alltell towers? I followed his thread for a long time and some of the PRLs he created worked ok, some did not. Did you actually create a new PRL, or is your 00001 the same as his?
Regardless, if at anytime this doesn't work, a PRL update through Device Self service will revert you back to a legit Sprint PRL...
If I'm not mistaken, this won't work if you're running cm/aosp based roms. You must use a sprint based rom, can anyone confirm this ?

You can flash the PRL on CM/2.2, The problem is, you cant update your data profile. So you will need to revert to 2.1 to apply this.
And this is techs PRL file, you can use whatever one you want.
I'll give this a shot, post results later
not trying to steal OP's thread but there's a much easier way to do this:
1. obtain msl code (if you haven't already)
2. ##775# and enter msl code to access manual prl updating
3. select new prl to be updated
4. update profile and reboot
i remember when someone else cooked up the prl's 01337 and 31337, the results were random for me. no real coverage gained and they usually slowed down my speeds. it's fun to hack things though

thank you for linking that! i was trying to remember where that thread was but i gave up searching for it because it was late last night
obtaining msl is so much easier thanks to that thread!
as for the custom prl, i'm getting mixed results. this sort of hack is really hit or miss depending on your location. if you're trying it out, i suggest using it a whole day and see how your coverage is and probably try out some other prl's. the evo thread that is linked in the first post has a couple other prl's to try out.
OK hahaha... After I applied this PRL I barely get any data coverage, it stays at 1x the whole time
YMMV just because I'm having problems doesn't mean you guys will.
##PRL# doesnt work on any of the stock roms, also my method doesnt require you to find your MSL...
If your having any problems, MAKE SURE YOU UPDATE YOUR DATA PROFILE!
Also, you download the PRL on the computer.. not the phone.
Also, if you want your MSL, use "MSL Reader" from the market, its the easiest method.

Yeah I noticed that as well, stock didn't work so I flashed nfx's 2.1 sense rom. And I tried updating data profile but unfortunately it stayed the same.
Also I couldn't use cdma workshop (unless i wanted to run a VM or possibly wine) seeing as I'm running linux.
Only downside to the MSL Reader is that it requires root - not that that's really a problem for more than the majority of the people, but I could be one for those that stumble upon this thread using google or something.
But yes, you would be correct CDMA workshop does make this process relatively simple

You can push any prl you want to the phone. Since we have diagnostic access thru *#*#8778#*#* then hit "modem" on the bottom selection. This will allow qpst to recognize it. If on windows 7, go to device drivers and look under "modems" to find your phone. Open properties and look for COM. It will have a number. Then open qpst. Hit "Add Port" and input what COM you saw. Prl will be under "service programming". Hit "write to phone", and finally browse to that .prl file.

WITH BOTH QPST AND CDMA WORKSHOP, I AM ABLE TO READ THE PHONES SETTINGS BUT I CANT WRITE TO IT. woops, sorry bout the caps.
anyway, when i click write, some things write and others dont. then when i click read, the banner is recognized as google even though it reads sprint on my phone still. often time when i click write in cdma workshop, it tells me phone is requesting spc, spc is required.
update: it seems that the sci and access overload class have stuck to the values that i chose. however, the main goal for me is to alter the banner to read 'Google'.
any input is much appreciated. thank you!

I forgot it in the original post. If you get a minute, could you take a look at it and tell me if it sounds reasonable to you? I have never used QPST. I dl'ed it tonight and looked around a bit. I am pretty much a beginner. Rooted the Droid X. Bought the original droid after the locked bootloader experience. And now the NS4G because the freedom. I was able to unlock and root it -but my 3g speeds are terrible and I was hoping to find a way to increase them. Anyways - you have been very helpful and any more pointers would be great.
thanks
Ok so I got this figured out. Well - I didn't get it figured out. I read some other stuff by people that got it figured out. Here are links to the information...

Warning I was unhappy with the results and when I tried to update my prl from settings (supposedly the solution if you wanted to revert) --it said my prl was successfully updated but the prl version # did not change.
so be careful if you want to do this.
I did this with my Nexus and I did a prl update on the phone, rebooted and the prl didn't change under the "about phone" settings but when I dialed *2 I was back on Sprint's network again. You just need to flash it back manually if you want the numbers to change.
This is a really easy tutorial to help if anybody needs it.
I got the information from different places and used words from
people in this thread, I just refined it a whole lot more...
**The "**" represent tips.**
**I Have attached all the files needed for this tutorial except for the phone drivers

others**
**BE CAREFULL, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SCREW UP BUT IT WORKED FOR ME**
Follow the steps to force roam on Verizon, Using "QPST_2.7_build 323":
(1) ~Dial (*#*#8778#*#*) then change "PDA" to "MODEM" on the bottom selection.~
**This will allow the QPST program to recognize it.**
(2) ~Plug your phone into your computer.~
**Allow a minute or two for your computer to install any drivers for your phone.**
(3) ~Go to the "Device Manager"~
**You can use the Windows Start Menu Search and type "Device Manager", and click on it.**
(4) ~Look under "Ports (COM & LPT)" find "SAMSUNG Mobile Modem Diagnostic
Serial Port (WDM) (COM##) ... The "COM##" write it down, or remember it"~
**If you can't see it in the name, then right click and open "Properties"
and it will say under the "General" tab."**
(5) ~Then open the program "QPST Configuration"~
**It's under the "All Programs" list in the Windows Start Menu, inside the QPST folder.**
(6) ~Click "Add Port" and input the "COM##" you saw and close the window.~
(7) ~Open up "QPST Service Programming"~
**Also under the "All Programs" list in the Windows Start Menu, inside the QPST folder.**
(8) ~Click into the "Roam" tab.
(9) ~Click on "Browse" to get to the "#####.prl" file you downloaded then Click "Open"~
(10) ~click "Write to Phone."~
(11) ~Enter the service code (168132) and click "Ok."~
**At this Point your phone will reboot and you have your new prl.**
(12) ~Dial (*2) press send and listen to who's network your connected to.
(13) ~Dial (*#*#8778#*#*) then change "MODEM" back to "PDA" on the bottom selection.~
(14) ~If you want to go back just download the newest Sprint prl from:
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=eabe29f3770d8d15&id=EABE29F3770D8D15!678
OR,

Dude. We know how to do it. We need the right drivers. For some reason the ones that work for most don't work for all. PC differences most likely. Someone find me the drivers!!!!

Ok, you don't have to ack like I'm a such pain in your tucus, I spent alot of my time trying to type up such a detailed post that wasnt even meant for you but the whole XDA community. Give me more info on your pc, what OS are you running? I'm pretty good at figuring these type of things out, like what drivers are you looking for, are you even rooted yet? Did you even download the Android SDK. You didn't give enough information for me to help you. I want to help you but I don't have to help you! I could be spending time with my family right now but instead I'm trying help one particular ungratefull person. People respond better to humble kindness than to irrational comments. PM me when you get you get some real questions, and information to at least some of my questions.
Thanks, Danny
Rooted? What's that? And what is Android SDK? Sorry. Wasn't trying to seem ungrateful either. You should go spend time with your family

He's not ungrateful, just frustrated like me and many others. Yes we are rooted, yes we have ADB installed (we unlocked our phones) we just can't get our phones to show up as a modem, no matter what we do.
I'm running windows XP, many are running win7. I have yet to try my win7 PC as a test
I originally used the PDA.net drivers to get ADB to work. I wonder if that is part of the problem?
yea none of us can seem to get step 4 to work

what is the phone supposed to be set to originally?
when i open that its on WCDMA preferred, then it switches to unknown by itself
*edit* i just checked my evo (deactivated) and its set to CDMA auto (PRL)
*edit* so i tried to change it to CDMA auto(PRL) then rebooted and its back to WCDMA preferred
and just how much of EVERYTHING will *#*#775#*#* erase?
*edit* i found out and it did nothing to help
*#*#8778#*#* not working for me after GJR90 update. Just me?
I haven't done a prl hack before, but my prl or profile will not update, everytime time I will update it, it always fails and when prl update fails its a big issue. I dont feel like going to sprint and getting another phone...well.. atleast not yet. so I'm gonna try this method and see if it works. So I was wondering, which prl do you guys use? I've heard some xda members say that when they hacked a prl it didn't give them any service. What specific prl is best?
Sorry for not using paragraphs ..
My data sucks real bad, I'm on 01115. Any suggestions would be good.
Thanks xda members.
Guess they might have changed the dialer codes

Is there anyone working on this?
Or close to being done?
ForceRom has them on the to do list.
But im not sure on progress.
anyone have any updates?
Also I know some international roms have in app call recording toggle, is there anyway to port that for sprint? I dont see why it wouldnt work since it has nothing to do with the phone radio. Im guessing it the rom it will just be the secphone.apk? If someone confirms that ill give it a shot and report back.
I, too, really want the Call Recorder function but it seems like either no one on the Sprint side knows how to implement it or don't care enough about it. I know the Wanam rom for the i9505 has Call Recording enabled. You could flash that rom & get it. Just follow the tutorial for installing ROMs from other S4's to our S4.

do you have a link to that to tutorial?
So I decided im going to try using thee Wanam Lite secphone.apk, and push it to Force Rom.
I am downloading Wanam right now, so when I get done ill report back and let yall know if it worked or not.
It will be super awesome if this works, because I know many sprint users would love to have call recording,
and this should be a pretty simple process.
com.sec.phone kept crashing over and over. and I had no signal.
shuld I get the com.sec.phone from wanam also?
Another Sprint S4 user had success & got Call Record working by flashing the entire Wanam ROM. The tutorial has been deleted, it seems. If I remember correctly, you're supposed to flash the Wanam ROM then flash a Sprint S4 kernel right after in the same session.
Perhaps create a nandroid first then try? If I remember that user's name, I'll let you know or maybe he'll chime in here.

I dont mind flashing it, but the thing is i saw a thread talking about it and apparently people still couldnt get data after, even after they flashed the sprint kernel. Also read it needs to be a touchwiz kernel.
i flashed it, and its working great. everything works on it except for data.
so can anyone help me out with the apns?
and where do I enter the apn settings on the gs4?

Exactly
I posted this in another thread, not sure if it works. My guess is that you'd have to copy the settings from a Sprint ROM and then manually input them after flashing an I9505 ROM.

You should be able to get to some if not all of those settings, by dialing ##3282##. You will need to enter your MSL number. There is a thread here in the Sprint forum, on how to get your MSL. I used, get my MSL from Gplay and it worked. Just follow the directions Once in, right down all of the settings and then put those settings in, once the different carrier's rom is installed. Good luck, and let us know the outcome

1st of all, my main problem, was finding the apns in the wanam rom. I was able to find them in the sprint rom, because ##data# works. but when you go to the i9505 rom, that dial code does not work. I actually ended up getting access to the aps by using an app from gplay, called offline sim apn database. it has an option that opens up your apn list, and from there you can edit them, so I took all 4 of my sprint apn's, and entered them. there was 2 lte apn's and 2 ehrpd apn's. Well after high hopes, that was all I had. nothing happened. so there is definitely more than just entering apn's. I messed around with *#0011# for like 2 hours, trying to figure something out, but I got no results. so imo, we will just have to wait til something gets figured out. I personally am stuck for now,

If you decide you really want to do it, check around XDA for Rom porting threads. There are a few easy to follow TUT's on this. They may just get you where you wanna be
Stock TW has a flashlight widget called "Assistive Light" that is built in and super quick.

For a flashlight toggle, I'm using "Mappz Quick Settings" from Play Store. It gives you AOSP-style Quick Settings tiles, including one for Torch, that you get by pulling down from the center of the top. If you pull down from the top left or top right you get the regular TW Quick Settings and Notifications.
The "Torch" moment's likely csn be interested into the Lockscreen and prolly added to the notification tray. I'm hoping to finish the toggle for turning on/off the am/pm & Time today. I'll look I to the Torch toggle this afternoon.
