Data:
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i
Android 2.1-Update1
Baseband version: 2.6.29
Build Number: 2.0.2.A.0.24
My machine is a free module, no branding, no.
Is gerooted and I think after the factory reset still, at least I find the app in the Appverzeichniss.
I had created a fix before everything happened, but after that I uninstalled these apps. I also deleted so that the backup?
I am using the function BATCH pure and could be restorative Apps choose, but they were crossed out in the middle.
Anyway, after the reset, they are still gone and logically does my market any more.
Oh damn
Please Help me!
Never delete Google apps! When you delete Google Talk then you cant use Market and all Google Services, why do you think no Google app is displayed in the Remove Help Thread here all around the Forum. You can reflash your Firmware with Flashtool
or use SEUS to recover your phone to factory settings, then use flashtool to root
if u are newbies just like me.
u can use Updateservice to restore ur X10 and get a whole new fresh start.
be careful,it will wipe all data which in ur phone.SDcard will be safe.
it has all worked out later. you were right. I would not be able to delete this app =)
I later made the new firmware on it.
I thank you for your help.
Thank you!
Kinda late response lol.
I deleted google talk from antek app manager and I have had no problems so far.

its pretty simple just uninstall it and reinstall a clean version. heres the link... http://gamesquare.co.uk/desired5.htm
just donwload that and delete the files that arent usually there from the root of your memory card, and open the file up you just downloaded and put all the content on the root of your memory card
delete the data.IMG

Good lad. You're learning!
I am having the same problem with removing an old gmail account from the previous owner of the phone. After you deleted the data file, how did you get your internet/3g working again? I'm afraid to delete it before I know what to do afterward to make sure everything works when running android. I think I have the nexus one version on my hd2. Thank you.

Hi,
I can't find the solution to this problem.
I had originally a Dutch Vodafone branded X10i.
Debranded it -> ok
Rooted it with the old method (install .16, update, root) -> ok
Had to repair some mistakes and reinstalled the X10i again.
First back to .16 from the old root method.
Update OTA to .23.
Update to .26 had to go with SEUS.
Installed the new root function (one-click app X10root.apk).
Reinstalled my apps and data with Titanium Backup.
All but some apps seem ok.
I can't find some apps in Android Market anymore.
For example I'm missing Paypal (is free), Hit it light, GoTo (lockscreen, paid).
From the applications menu I:
- erased data from download management
- erased data from gmail
- erased data from google apps
- erased data from google talk
- erased data from google talk-service
- cleared the cache of market
- erased data from market updater
- erased data from gmail storage (opslag van gmail)
I can't find anything called IM or Instant Messaging or so.
I throttled the phone.
Started Android Market, inserted my credentials.
Still no luck.
What can I do next?
Have you tried the market fix?

Which one?
I know there's one from the original thread to gain root, but I thought that one was needed because .23 was deliverd by that thread. Do I need to run that market fix ?
Or do I need to use Eris Market Fix app?
Or is there another one?
Not sure which you would need to try, but would imagine it would be from the thread you used to root.

Hello,
Hello,
I am using Android 2.1 on Samsung Galaxy S. Unfortunately I erased Android Market application via Titanium Backup. Now I don't have Android Marker and I don't have Calendar. Those two are pretty important to me.
In fact I did find Android Market and installed it but it just flashes and exits the application. Then I tried to install GTalk (as I heard they were connected and Android Market need GTalk to work properly) but GTalk also just flashes and quits.
It seems I need some Google App files that I erased. Is there way to get my Android Market and Calendar as everything else is working properly?
Also I have side-question:
Would upgrading to 2.2 solve anything? I mean I would get calendar and Android Market back? Does upgrading to Android 2.2 erases phonephonebook numbers (contacts) from your phone? (I don't have any numbers on my SIM). Does it erase music?
Thank you very much.
Well id think that would solve it, you'll want to update anyways right?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yeah but we didn't get Android 2.2 update yet in this part of Europe :/
What if I want to reinstall my firmware...do I need to do factory reset? If I do that does all of my phone book contacts and music go away?
Factory reset will delete all the contacts stored in the phone but not in the sim.It shouldnt harm music and pictures, mine is still there after 3 resets, but all apps will unintall.
hi, just got this phone for my son. wanted to update to android 2.1, had to jump thru hoops just to get to the update service. tried to download and install back and restore on the phone no go. it wont allow me to install other than market place. its stupid that this app is not already installed. is there another app i could use to backup the phone before updating? thanks. btw, sonyericson's site really sucks!!!
So you posted a thread just to tell us this?
I'm curious, what kind of hoops did you have to jump through to get the update service? It's rather easy to download the Update Service app via their website. Actually, I've found Sony Ericsson's website one of the easiest to navigate. The Backup & Restore application COMES preinstalled with the phone, atleast that's how it was when I got mine with 1.6.
*sigh*

Hello,
There are lots of backup apps on the market, I also did manage to search and download the backup and restore apk from the web. Haven't had any probs with x10 especially updating.

Are you in the US by any chance? If so, you won't find 2.1
And market should already be installed - you probably did something wrong during the update process
You must be on At&t, right? My At&t x10 didn't have backup and restore installed on 1.6 and no 3rd party apps either.
Are you in the US, then? Hope you don't plan on updating with SEUS... We will NEVER get it here
You can get past the install block by using Sideload Wonder Machine- 2nd post HERE, linked you to the thread to cover common problems...
Or just search backup in the market and find another app...
And then once you backup you can flash to 2.1 with Androxyde & Bin4ry's flash tool. use x10a generic build 2.1.A.0.435
the phone kind of sucks as it is when you buy it. especially from at&t. as i did.
but once u get into things on this site the phone is completely awesome.
and does not need any more bashing lol
we are more than happy with out modded x10's.
sorry
hi, sorry i forgot to say it is an at&t phone. i have sideload 1.0, i copied backup and restore to my hard drive, tried to load it with swm, but would not allow access. i'll try market place and use a different backup app.
root and use titanium backup

First, if you just got it then there shouldn't be much to backup. Update to 2.1 and treat it like a new phone. Second, if you got it from AT&T your X10 is branded AT&T meaning they have put all sorts of restrictions and blocks on your phone. The one you are dealing with now is blocked access to non approved apps. Basically AT&T has pay services that they want to force you to use.
You need to forget about SEUS or PC Companion for now. You need to use the X10 Flash Tool 2.6 and flash x10a global generic firmware 2.1.A.0.435 found here on xda. This will debrand your phone lifting non-market app restrictions (you still have to check "allow non-market apps" in settings / applications). This will also give you the latest 2.1 update, including dualtouch. You can also use the flash tool to root your phone, giving you even more control to modify your system and remove the preinstalled junk apps you don't use that slow down your device.

Well first thing you probably would want to do is root the phone and get rid of all the bloatware. It will speed up the phone a bunch, then move dalvik cache and that will increase internal memory quite a bit(its pretty pathetic internal memory) and also move as many apps as you can to sd card which will give you a bit more memory. On the gaming issue there are lots of emulators on the market available and games too. Plus you can use the fun& downloads app which is basically a direct source for most of the games. Sorry for no links but just head over to development section and you will find how to do the dalvik cache moving, rooting and everything you'll need to get that baby running the way you want it. Hope this helps you out a bit. Have fun

thank you for the info look slike i have a fair bit of reading to do lol.
but again thanks
I would like to ad some info.
Moving dalvik cache on the newest firmware build (2.3.4) is not recomended cuz the cache partition is sized down to a 100mb and can cause you not to be able to download from market as dalvik cache would fill it up to much and leave to little free space.
Haven't tried it myself, just some info i read here in the play subforum i would like to share.
Regards Dousan...
What model is the xplay you bought? R800i? As long as your phone is not the R800x you can follow the guide here. Which will give you root then just see this thread for what bloat is safe to remove from the phone.
If you uninstall the apps after rooting then you will not be able to ota update to the latest fw since ota requires all the bloat still on the phone. If you freeze the bloat rather than uninstall it still gives you the same effect uninstalling them would (faster boot up e.t.c) but still allows you to receive the latest updates. If you follow the guide above to gain root then ota update you will be on the latest software SE has released.
No need to move the dalvik cache, i have not moved it and i still have enough internal memory to spare.
You can still grab Yongzh's emulators for free from here. Other than that the android market has everything you could want.
wow thank you for all that info Mozza2k11,
a few questions thou if you dont mind. how do i know what version i have i dont know if its the 800i or 800x.
my phone is on contract to T-mobile can i still root the phone? after reading your comments i think if i can do all this i will just freeze the apps instead of removing so the phone wil still update.
what is rooting yoru phone?
thanks

If you have t-mobile its not the x. My advice is this though. Unless your interested in tinkering with your sons phone all the time / think he would have fun tinkering. Don't root it. While root can give you incresed functionality, it can and will however break functions on the phone from time to time.
This is something you'll need to be aware of.
Of course, if you do. Have fun, cause its awesome!

If when on the home screen you press the menu key (3rd from the left) then go > Settings > About phone. Its says model number (in my case R800i).
Rooting your phone gives you admin rights basically the same as you would get on a pc (allowing you to access to all files). Once rooted you can use apps you normally could not have such as titanium backup, adfree (blocks pop up, ads in free games its very handy) e.t.c
You can root any xplay with the guide i posted in my last post execpt the r800x, it doesnt matter what carrier you are on.
Tbh mate i dont know how old your son is or if he is into modifiying his phone. If you just run the ota update (settings > about phone > software update) or use pc companion and get the latest software on. He should be good to go for now. This was my first android phone and i didnt root my phone till i had it for a month or so and it still worked great.
If you decide to root the phone look @ my posts in this thread mainly the one towards the bottom for an easier to follow guide.
thank you so much for your help.
i have been told by a friend to install " snappz market " is this good idea or should i stay away from it. must be honest not to sure what it is
if i root the phone so it runs faster by removing some of the crap am i right in thinking i cant ota update? but if i freeze the crap i dont want/use then i will still get the same performance increase and still be able to update?
so if im understanding correct it make sense to just freeze all instead of remove nothing,
sorry if im asking newbie questions
Never even heard of snappz market. Id just stick with android market it has everything you could need.
You cannot ota update if you uninstall the bloat (remove it fully from the phone). If you freeze the bloat it stops it from running but is still hidden on the phone and allows you to ota update. Once an update is out just unfreeze the bloat, run the ota and then refreeze what you had frozen before.
I freeze all the bloat i dont want running now (from the safe apps to remove list). I previously uninstalled them and when the update came out it would not apply so i had to reinstall the software on my phone. Wiping all my apps, game saves e.t.c.
So freezing bloat saves you from having to reinstall the software to get back the stuff you might have uninstalled. Plus you get the benefits of the bloat not running, better battery life e.t.c
