Has anyone hacked the kernel, hardware to make this phone useable.......I'm missing so many calls ?

There is no hardware or software issue with the speakers ...... maybe you have a faulty device.

In your alternate universe that may be true. That's the universe where the battery is brilliant too, I presume?

No need to bring in the word homosexuality when we are talking about external speaker on the phone androhero...thousands of people complain about the speaker and battery life its even be said in a lot of reviews all over the web about the speaker and battery life....if your speaker is perfect that's great. But my speaker isn't and I just want to see if anyone have fixed this problem so please we can do with out the smart ass comments..

for starters , i wasnt the one that started making sarcastic comments, all i said was there is no hardware or software issue with the DHD regarding the speakers, its just the way the HTC Tones are made, but if you feel you wish to join in and attempt to bully me like bobbyelliott feel free
by the way you may also want to try this, it's the htc tones with increased volume levels, just flash it from recovery...... i hope you choke on it

Ok, I don't want to see any trouble here. Please behave yourselves. Referrence to homosexuality as an insult is not appreciated.

The Android Revolution Rom 2.0.12 has this included since yesterday.

do you just flash these kernels using clockwork overtop the rom your already using?
ive never done this before and would like more volume myself.

Hi can you please give me step by step on how to install the new kernel ? Thanks

Is it really nessesary to flash and what not? I just bumped up the volume of the tones I like in Audacity and copied it back on to SD. Now my volume is “normal”.

Without a kernel that gives a volume boost I find most of the times myself in a situation where I can't hear the person when on a call. With the new kernel (thanks Lee ) it's how it should be, I'm happy

[fix] more volume for CM7 (updated for 1.3/1.4)

I believe based on a few testers' results that I have fixed this at a kernel level. I had tried this kernel fix originally back when this first happened but I didn't boost the values high enough to make a difference in testing, so thanks to tiamat for more precise values. I have tweaked the values to be louder than my previous kernel, you might notice a slight crackle and likely need to turn down one slot at the highest setting now if you never had volume issues, the highest slots are for people that seem to have more serious volume issues. If this works for people I'll get it merged into the cm mecha msm7x30 kernel.
If this works or doesn't work, PLEASE post specifically and accurately, this can only get better if I get feedback. Please also read the OP fully, there are a lot of questions being asked towards the back pages of this thread that could easily be answered with 2 seconds of reading. As always, you can find me in #slayher on freenode if you want to give more specific feedback or scenarios.

OUTDATED

Right now this is a temporary workaround until something more elegant can get merged into the source but I need to spend more time with it. The test users I gave this out to reported better volume in: backspeaker, earpiece and headphone jack. Since this has worked with a few people I'm going to post it here and see how it works for others. I don't personally have low audio on CM7 so testing of this was done by a few affected users so thanks to those who tested it, especially syco; and also slayher and jcase as well.
INFO:
1) CM7 rc0.4 is required (this post will be updated if new versions come out)
2) A system nandroid should be taken, this updates a file in system.
3) This is a hack, all the tests done had good results but be aware of this fact. Use at your own risk.

Flash this through recovery, try these files first. If you still have issues see below.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it is helpful and greatly appreciated. A few users have told me that the volume in-call still wasn't loud enough, so I cooked up a 'this goes to 11' version. Users should ONLY flash this if their headset isn't loud enough with the normal version and this should be considered very experimental. I am putting this out there due to demand but you should turn down your volume before flashing this second hack should you need it. You have been warned
Thanks to samsuck for testing this.

I tested this for utkanos, on a fresh install of CM7 .4 and it has helped out my volumes all around. Incall audio, back speaker, and headset audio where all noticeably better. Bluetooth Audio seemed to remain the same if not a tad better. Give this a try and report back here if you experience the same.

I tested many many iterations of this. I can say that the one that I currently have is awesome. back speaker is so loud i can hear the ringer in the other room. I can now talk on the phone with the ac on in my car as well. Great work!

Considering people on this forum have a problem reading (as evidenced by the same 5 questions asked 300 times in the CM7 thread) I decided to make it more noticeable, sorry for the inconvenience.
This worked great for me too. However, my screen lock sounds are now virtually non-existant. I can barely hear them and tried looking through other settings to try and make them louder, but can't seem to. I guess it fixed one problem and broke another.
Flashed through Recovery and now I'm getting a bootloop

Is audio manager something available in the market? I am on gengeritis but would love to have something to boost my volume, specifically on speaker phone. It kills me to not be able to use it while in the car. If I can get much louder volume with this I might just have to wipe and flash CM7.
For some reason my in call audio only seems slightly louder. Everything else is definitely louder though. Is there something you can tweak to make in call volume louder?

What app are you using? I notice, for example, in Google Music the lowest setting is so low it's almost inaudible.
Same issue. Stock music app's volume is way too loud for the lowest setting. I use this at night when sleeping. Before, one notch up was perfect. Now it is pretty loud and actually keeps me up. lol
nope. seems as though it only effects tabs with micro sd slots.

What a shame ... I was really looking forward to that kernel he was developing.
I have this problem too both on stock TW and on Starburst. P7510 32gb
My headphones are pretty sensitive so this basically makes the tab useless for audio for me.
Does anyone have suggestions? I have been looking for an app to reduce the volume but nothing has worked so far. Hoping for something that could achieve finer volume steps.
Ya this is an software engineering defect. Its amazing how they can design a volume control like this and think that its is good.
Bump! I'm still experiencing this on Task's 6.0 ROM with Touchwiz and HC3.2. Is there any fix for this?

[MOD] Modified volume config file. IT'S LOUD YO! (With left speaker balance fix now!)

Modded default file a little to my liking volume wise, this is very much a work in progress, if your Transformer burns up a speaker or the sound card, don't hold me responsible, BUT on a good note it works for me and volume is very decently increased, so if your feeling lucky (punk) give it a try. You just might be pleased with the results. Good luck and happy modding! =]
Also as a side note, I have heard stories of blown left speakers, so be extra careful with the one with the speaker fix, as this is unexplored territory except from one user who did have good result's, so only use if you are aware that it may damage your HARDWARE for good...
Confirmed working on voodoo sound, but I would suggest using the medium one, no higher.
KEEP IN MIND THIS ALSO INCREASES HEADPHONE OUTPUT, BE CAREFUL SO AS TO NOT DAMAGE YOUR HEARING!!
This file was in the same folder, however I don't understand it's function, but incase you had it and erased it, here it is:
http://www.multiupload.com/EXJZ50M6IN
Original config file: http://www.multiupload.com/MRJ2V98G3W
Risky one (full output potential):http://www.multiupload.com/7L8S4I6GKF
Medium Risk one (Recommended): http://www.multiupload.com/WVKJVU5U7A
Risky one with speaker balance mod (SOMEWHAT UNTESTED!!): http://www.multiupload.com/61HP5V3M0U
Medium risk one with left speaker fix (ALSO UNTESTED!): http://www.multiupload.com/MFI035ZL65
You must reboot for the changes to apply.
If you take it for a spin, please post your opinions on sound quality and volume so others can get a good idea of what this file does
All credit to xda members freeza and verkion for the balance fix file, I simply edited his file.
Edit: you will find the stock file in system/data
Edit: Be sure to backup your original file, and if you don't know how to replace the file, you shouldn't be playing with this lol
Edit: If you hear distortion, lower the volume, as distortion will blow speakers faster than overpowering them
Also as a side note I run the full output one with good results, full volume is now usually to loud lol, does sound *SLIGHTLY* tinny, but once you get used to it, the increase in volume is worth the trade off, and if you miss the stock volume, either turn it down or re-apply your stock file.
If you like this, please click the thanks link =]
If you have any issues feel free to contct me at my personal email at [email protected], but only if it is important please.

I advise people to be very careful with volume on transformer. I blew my left speaker using configs etc and just received my transformer back from warranty repair (thankfully fixed
I really dont advise using configs like this but there is a need to make volume higher.
I have tried everything and found the safest way which is what i use now is a small app from the market called 'VOLUME+' , link below.
I set my speakers to a +5 boost in options, nothing else and volume is much higher, crisp and safe.

Wouldn't it be wise then to create a few modified files and label them according to how safe they are? (eg. Dangerous, moderate, safe) that could potentially work...

Link fixed, I apologize, also this will work for headphones as long as you don't run voodoo sound, if you do I'm not to sure, but without voodoo sound it also boost's headphone volume as well, and quite a bit on that note while still retaining clarity.

Increasing Volume on Phone (Speaker and Headpones)

Hey,
I had SGS3 before Nexus 4 and the volume on that was low, so you could increase it with Custom Roms and / or custom kernels so the speaker and headphones volume was much louder.
Anyone know whether something similar will come for NExus 4 as it's a tad quiet, althought the music quality is better than SGS3 in my opinion.
Cheers.

Extremely low in call volume. Files to edit?

I've been running OmniRom with PA full modular gapps for a while. Currently on 03/05 nightly w/Franco 203.
I use Viper4Android to adjust my headphones and speaker levels.
I have been having extremely low in call volume since 4.4 and I can't figure out why. No one seems to have an issue. I've played with adjustments in Franco's app as well as settings in Viper but it doesn't help. My music sounds great though and voice calls put on speaker are very loud and clear. It's just the handset speaker that's really low.
Previously on my Sensation, I could make edits TPA2051_CFG_XC.csv that would help. And in the Nexus 5 forums I see you can edit mixer_paths.xml to help as well but when I look at the Nexus 4's mixer_path, there isn't a line to adjust handset volume.
Is there a file I could edit to adjust my in call volume? Or any other way to fix this?
Edit: Forgot to include, I use hybrid radio 33-98 for LTE. I've tried other regular and hybrid radios as well and that hasn't helped.
I wonder how helpful this would be for you, but I faced problems with in-call earpiece volume. I had to connect my headphones, call a number, maximize the volume, remove headphones and re-test the volume without headphones. Apparently, I had noticed that it mixed settings of both the profiles - with headphones & without headphones.

Amogh

Just tried it a few times. No go for me. Volumes for with and w/out headphones are at max. I tried lowering one and the other. Or raising them at different intervals. Still didn't help.
Thanks for trying though.
I actually have the same problem right now. I tired using a flash able zip. Which I have no idea where it is now but all it did was completely disable touch for me. I never tried ViperX but I'll keep snooping around and see what works for me and let you know

Nope. Sorry. I don't think many people are having issues. It might be hardware related but I haven't done a full format to test anything new out.
I update to the newest nightly like once a month and I don't make very many calls so it hasn't been detrimental to me yet.
I haven't seen anyone bring it up in the Omni thread though so I'm certain either a clean start should do the trick or it's hardware related and you'll need an RMA.
Hope you find a resolution for your issue! I'll definitely post something here if I ever figure it out on my end.
Same issue here. Occasionally I've fixed it between kernel or Rom flashing, but never found out what I did to fix and when I'd flash again it would go back to bad quality again. Sometimes I have to stick a finger in one ear and press the phone hard into the other ear to hear anybody

I'm a bit hesitant to flash something for the S3 onto the N4. Plus, the file in that zip you're referring to isn't one that's contained on the N4 in that directory.
