My nexus s is going through some random bootloop. It won't boot to startup, but it'll only boot to the bootloader/recovery. So, i can't really put anything in my internal memory and flash it. can anyone help me please?

any idea how you got in this state? That might help find the least painful way out of it.
Anyways, if you can get into the bootloader, then you should be able to flash or boot to Clockwork Recovery with the fastboot commands.
Once in Clockwork, you should be okay. ADB is active in Clockwork, so you can push things to the phone that way.
To put something on the sdcard, from within clockwork, go to the mounts menu, then mount the sdcard.
After that adb push whatever it is you want to flash to the sdcard.
I'm guessing you don't have your own nandroid tucked away, but there's a stock GRH78 one in the Development section.
If you did some odd tweak or something, you could possibly just adb commands to undo it. Dalvik and cache wipes wouldn't be a bad idea either.
when i try wiping Dalvik Cache i get this "E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (invalid argument) and also when i try to mount USB storage it doesnt really mount it just takes me back to the recovery page D:. <- thus if i can't mount usb storage i can't really push things in my phone. i think i might've bricked my phone. ;/
If you have an unlocked bootloader you can use this.

This should return you to stock as if nothing ever happened.
Thanks so much. It works now! Woot happy man.
What did you end up doing?

You can mount usb from recovery and just copy and paste whatever you want to your phone.

I rooted my Nexus S a couple of weeks back and installed Clockworkmod. Not problems there.
But today I rebooted the phone via adb (issuing the "reboot" command), and now the phone is stuck in Clockworkmod recovery. I'm able to connect with adb, and I'm able to go to the stock recovery (home + volume up), but I'm not able to boot into Android at all
What can I do to get my phone to boot again?
Did u do a nandroid Backup?

Factory wipe and reboot.
Does usb mount work?
Thanks for the answers!
I found a nandroid backup on these forums, and that solved it.
I think the reason must be that I did a command line reboot while /system was mounted read-write, and that borked the file system somehow. Which is weird, because I'm able to mount /system from CWM.
USB mount works as well.
The nandroid backup was 2.3, though, and the OTA didn't work on it. Will a factory wipe reset my phone to a state where the OTA will work?
Well a couple days ago I decided to try out amona Ra Recovery. I don't know what happened but after I installed it and tried to flash a rom my tablet would not boot. So I said no big deal. Ill just wipe and flash again. Well now everytime I try to do anything like restore a backup or wipe data(even mount the data partition) I get an "cant mount /Data" error. Same with the internal sd. I cant mount that either. I can mount the system and flexrom and just about everything else. So I then loaded thor's touch CWM recovery as well as the standard cwm recovery and still a no go. Can not mount the data or sdcard partition. So I then decided to try and flash thors ICS rom. When I did it would boot but it gets to a screen that say encryption failed and I need to do a factory reset. I never set it up to encrypt by the way. But I cant factory reset due to the fact that I cant mount the data partition. Hope I gave enough info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ill probaly donate to the person who can help me. Thanks in advance
EDIT: Also if anyone may happen to have a copy of the acer unbrick Update.zip that would be greatly appreciated. All the links I find go to megaupload.com which I'm sure everyone knows by now is shut down. Thanks again
Go to the RA Recovery thread .. There is a link in the OP Post about that specific issue.
if you cant find it Post in there your problem and how you got to where it happened.. He will help you
thanks for the reply. I will try that
Hello
I formatted /sdcard on recovery mode by mistake, was going to format /data, /system and /cache
now I lost all of my backup and ROM files and my N7 stuck at Google icon when reboot.
recovery and bootloader can still access....if that help.
Any way i can get my baby to boot up like it used to be? or How to put files back to N7? (maybe I can install the ROM if it's there?)
Thanks in advance >___<
First make sure you have the Nexus 7 plugged into a PC while attempting to start bootloader and choosing recovery. You might be able to do a factory reset from there. Wipe data, cache and dalvik. You may want to hit 'Fix Permissions' last just in case, then reboot. If you're familiar with ADB and fastboot you can find info on flashing stock images here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796. If neither of those helps you'll need to go to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475, download and install the toolkit and choose 'Flash Stock + Unroot' with the option 'Soft-Bricked, Bootloop' (assuming that is still the case) checked. It will ask which image to download, pick the latest (4.1.2). You shouldn't have to relock the bootloader. From there it's just like stock so play with it as you like, just watch what you're wiping, lol.
Thank you very much!!!!
everything work now.
Hey guys,
I recently encrypted my phone for my work e-mails (the Exchange server required it). I made a complete Nandroid backup and also entire Titanium backup before encrypting, just in case something went wrong. But the encryption went beautifully.
However, I've noticed that I cannot mount /sdcard or flash anything from recovery. I can't update my Franco kernel or CM nightlies... It's a bit annoying because I want to keep flashing! lol.
My phone asks for my password everytime I reboot (in order to decrypt sdmount and mount the ROM), so I'm assuming this is the reason I can't mount it in CWM recovery.
Anyone know of a bypass or fix for this?
I don't really feel like restoring nandroid backup or doing a factory reset everytime I want to flash a new nightly, it just doesn't make any sense (besides I haven't even tried to see if I can restore from nandroid or factory resetting, they might not even work because it can't mount /sdcard?...)
I've searched around the forums for some complex solutions such as using ADB or Odin but I'm not interested in that.
Thank you!
UPDATED:
Ok guys so basically restoring from nandroid did not work because of the sdcard mount error.
I did a factory reset, erased all data and format system. But I couldn't format sdcard or even user data as it didn't have access... Basically the phone got bricked from then on and I had to completely restore back to stock bootloader/recovery/stock rom with adb/fastboot. Instructions are found here:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/nex...e-restore.html
Hopefully this will come to use to someone else. I've heard that TWRP does not have this sdcard mount problem with encryption as does CWM, so that's what I installed this second time around.
Why don't you just transfer the files regularly without entering recovery mode?
The recovery doesn't allow mounting to the PC. It just doesn't work.

I've never mounted to PC in recovery. My files are backed up on my computer and nandroid as well.
My issue here is that I can't regularly flash new nightlies (and thus mount internal /sdcard to do so) following the phone encryption.
Since my internal /sdcard path is encrypted with a password, CWM recovery can't bypass this and it gives me the error "cannot mount /sdcard".
bump?
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Is this a lacking feature in CWM Recovery? Have the developers looked in it? Or is there already a fix for this without doing an entire factory reset?
Daily bump.
Anyone there? (echo...)

If you want to recover the data from SD card, you do not use the SD card.
You can try to recover the data from the card with some specific software.
I will try to fin one I used before.
It will take few minutes... do not use the card.

Many thanks, this link helped me restoring my Nexus 4. I enabled "encrypted storage" and wanted to root the phone and almost bricked it.
It's also possible to flash the stock recovery with odin, then do a real factory data reset and be able to install a custom rom, after (or before) which you can reinstall a custom recovery.
I'm having trouble with my nexus7. When booting, it shows the android and a START. The only thing it lets me to is RESTART BOOTLOADER.
START or RECOVERY gives a message BOOTING FAILED.
Cannot re flash the stock recovery (doesn't work in adb, nexus7 toolkit)
I can flash a temp recovery and they tell me that nothing will mount. sdcard, system, cache, nothing. They also say INTERNAL SPACE 0MB.
I was changing kernels and it bootlooped. Then trying to restore in recovery, the whole internet storage has gone missing.
Is there any way to remount the storage? Maybe it's dead... I have a spare parts nexus 7.. is there any way to take the storage out and place it in this one?
Thank you. ahhh.
