You have a few options.
1) load the PD15IMG and boot into Hboot and reset the entire system, but you will have a clean slate and have to start 100% over again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863899
2) boot into HBoot and navigate to (recovery) and see what type of a recovery image you have. If it is orange you can load Cyanogen CM7RC1 w/ the G/APPS and get your phone rocking with 2.3 (Gingerbread)
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/15769-cyanogenmod-7-for-mytouch-4g-v700-rc1-2152011/
3) boot into HBoot and navigate to (recovery) and see what type of a recovery image you have. If it is Green then you can load any 2.2 based ROM. along with the G/APPS (if needed) there are many of these in the Development section.
4) If you have a triangle with a "!" in it then you need to flash a recovery image. Once again there are multiple threads on this in the development section.
(to get into HBoot turn off the phone, power on the phone holding the volume down button and the power button)

So I downloaded Clockwork Mod onto my phone and I have root access (thanks to AndRoot) -- so I've been able to flash the ClockworkMod recovery or the RA recovery onto my phone.
However it won't let me boot into the recovery mode (HOME+POWER).
The odd time I can boot into the Clockwork recovery, but as soon as a screen comes up it immediately reboots and then it won't let me boot up.
With RA recovery it wont' get me into anything....
Any suggestions? It's an HTC Magic (Rogers), so it's a 32A phone (as far as I know) and it's really a pain living with just 2.1.
When flashing RA recovery, are you using H? G is for 32B.
yup it was like 1.70h or whatever... made sure of that
but it would never boot into recovery mode...
Dwnload rom manager from market. The app has an option to reboot into recovery. I haven't tried it personally but hope it helps.
i've tried rebooting into the mode that way... still when it reboots and just as i see something it reboots automatically again... and then it'll just come up with that warning screen and i'll have to pull the battery
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. I wasn't able to find an answer to my question...
My wife has an old MyTouch 3G. We have two months left on our contract before we make the jump to Verizon. So, I decided to try a new ROM on her phone. I downloaded Ginger Yoshi, booted to the Clockworkmod Recover screen, wiped the device, and tried to flash Ginger Yoshi. However, it told me that it was "(bad)". So, I decided to load the recovery that I created. I did that and it said it worked, but now when I boot up the phone, it just gets stuck on the MyTouch 3G splash screen. I tried getting back to the Clockwork Mod Recovery screen, but it just give me the ! inside the triangle screen. I'm totally new to this. Is there anything I can do?
Update: I can get to the "Android system recovery" screen at least. It gives me 4 options.
reboot system now [Home + Back]
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe date/factory reset
wipe cache partition

Can u get in the fastboot mode? (Power+Back) Then your phone isn't bricked, and you're able to flash/boot a new recovery. I trought fastboot commander can do it.
I just got the new CWM recovery update through Rom Manager today, and it said it was successfully flashed, but the phone only hangs on the HTC logo when goingto recovery. I can still do fastboot and boot to Android tho, so I'm now gonna try to figure out how to get my recovery back before something bad happes xD
anyone have advice or know where I can download a standalone copy of CWM 5.0.0.1 for G2?
Wish me luck I'll keep updating as things progress
okipokey, solved my own issue. Just had to reflash back to an older recovery and try again a couple times before it stuck.
Time to test out the new recovery!
I decided to flash the upgrade as well. The flash went perfectly. However, I couldn't boot into recovery while within Android. I had to power off and boot into the bootloader and then select recovery... Whenever I tried to reboot to recovery via the Android UI, it restarted and hung at the boot splash screen.. It didn't even work if you selected the option from the ROM Manager itself... I rolled back to previous version as well and its working again. It may be a bug... Early adopters nightmare....
Same here just reinstalled the new version and it worked second time round
must be a bug they havn't quite worked out. Next time I'll do a fastboot flash instead for a low build number.
First time I flashed I tried it from a battery pull through HBOOT and it still hung. Reflash to 3.5 and then back to 5.0 fixed it like you guys

try just reflashing version 5 I had the same problem, but rebooted the phone reflashed version 5 from the rom manager and now is all good
I just sent the dev a comment about it on his Google+
maybe he'll have a fix out soon
Nice one, seems a "double flash" fixes it have just tested 3 or 4 times, seems to be working
yessir, seems to me that if it's a bug its really minor. I can see this being a problem if someone accidentally screws up something on their phone right after flashing the recovery, but not very likely and they'd still be able to reflash through fastboot
Seemed to flash the new version ok. But then, when trying to boot into recovery for the first time, the phone hung on the HTC logo boot splash. Pulled battery, and booted into recovery ok after that.
that's interesting that some of you didn't hang after the battery pull while mine did. Maybe it depends which version we're upgrading from?
stuck at htc
hey i also had this problem and i can't get my g2 to boot up at all. It hangs at the htc screen. I don't know how to fix this issue as i was trying to restore a backup from recovery right after the update. i can't get into recovery or anything else...all i get is the htc screen. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Any sign of a changelog?

found this
-From Mr.Dutta via G+
I've just finished releasing updates to a bunch of devices to ClockworkMod Recovery 5.
Major changes:
Backups now use tar over yaffs for everything except mtd partitions. Backups got way faster.
Backups now preserve the filesystem type at time of backup. Restores will restore the appropriate filesystem type at restore.
Please update to ROM Manager 4.4.0.3 or higher and try out the new recovery!
Troubleshooting:
Flashing issues: If a recovery does not flash properly, enable erase recovery in settings and try flashing it again. Recovery flashing can be finicky at times.
Bugs: Report them to me! You can always revert back to the older recovery too from within ROM Manager!
So far no issues here while playing around.
my issue is i can't get back to android at all now. i went into rom manager to restore a backup and was told there was an update, then it reflashed the recovery. When i tried to restore my backup it froze and i have not been able to get past the htc screen at all.

can you get into the HBOOT?
pull the battery, put it back in, hold the volume down button and then hit the power button. you should come to a white screen with some options
In the case you want to update your recovery using fastboot method, heres what you'll need:
CWM 5.0.0.1 for G2 (Vision)
HTC Sync drivers
ADB fastboot from Android SDK
Make sure your phone is all the way off by pulling the battery. Get into the HBOOT by holding down the volume down button and then hitting the power. use the volume keys to navigate and the power button to select. Choose "FASTBOOT"
Rename the recovery that you downloaded from CWM to "recovery.img" and put it in your ADB and Fastboot folder
plug your phone into your computer and pull up a command line for your adb/tools/ or adb/platform-tools/ folder where you should have ADB and Fastboot.
under the command line type in:
fastboot devices
<list of devices>
If you do not see your device make sure the cable is plugged in and your drivers are installed. if still nothing try a different cable til you get it to be recognized by the computer.
Once it's recognized do:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
when its done:
reboot
I flashed through ROM manager. On suggestion, I checked the box for "erase recovery - recovery will be erased prior to flashing". On first reboot to recovery it sticks at HTC screen. Pulling battery and vol. up+power then entering recovery the 2nd time works just fine.
Hope this helps.
im trying to put it back to stock, but when i power & vol up,
and select recovery, after google logo im getting
exclamation mark & green android.
thing is i cant remember how i rooted it and now i've forgot which website i used to do it. is there a set way to ubroot this where i wont brick it?

if you mean not only unroot but also reflash a stock rom, you will have to boot to bootloader(by press vol+ and power to turn on your phone) , then flash clockwork recovery
-place the recovery3101.img in the tools folder and type the following command
fastboot flash recovery recovery3101.img
Click to collapse
then select recovery
and at last flash a stock rom just like you flash superuser.zip
You are running stock recovery (Most likely due to stock rom loading the stock recovery on your phone every time it reboots. So just connect your phone to PC and flash cwm recovery then you can unroot your phone easily.
So about a few hours ago I saw that I could download the new 10.2 cyanogenmod. I wanted it because it was Android 4.3, so I downloaded it. I tried watching flash movies and stuff, and the browsers and stuff kept crashing, and the internet didn't work completely. So, I downloaded 10.1 again, and installed it. It rebooted to the teamwin thing, and then rebooted again. A few minutes after, I was curious as to why it was still loading. Waited a long time, and it still was on the CM boot logo thing. Im using the Nexus 7 toolkit (its called something else, but im not sure what. The icon is a red toolbox with 3 tools in it), and can't reboot into recovery or flash stock back on it. How can I get it out of bootloop? I really need help! D:
Press all the three buttons , power , volume up and volume down together and boot into bootloader. From boot loader use volume buttons to go onto recovery , do a clean wipe there and reflash a ROM. Another alternative is to use adb and type
Code:
adb reboot recovery
then wipe clean and reflash ROM.

Hi Red Devil,
I just tried to install CM 10.1.3 on my Motorola Atrix HD.
I forgot to wipe data and cache before installing the ROM, and now it is stuck in the boot animation.
When I press the power and volume keys down together, it takes my phone to a black screen, and when I press them again on the black screen it gives me a brief menu that says
"Normal power up"
"Recovery"
"AP Fastboot"
"Factory"
and another one I can't recall.
This screen times out in about 3 seconds. and regardless of which item from the menu I select, it still shows my boot logo, then the CM animation. I cant boot into fastboot or recovery, and I can't find anything good online to help me.
Help! What do I do?
