Why cant i Use a pen on the screen - Vibrant General

Why there is no app developed on galaxy through I can use a pen to draw on the screen?
Is it possible... is the screen suitable for that??
If so that would be a cool idea!

Then why this idea had not has been used?
If I find the right pen then I wont need papers anymore!
Is there such thing like this??

EBay sells cheap stylus for iPhone which is the same type of screen I believe. I have one for my evo but they aren't as easy to use as the old plastic Windows mobile stylus.
Sent from my rooted HTC EVO using the xda app!

Yeah you need a capacitive stylus.

@sand1303 is it because of the stylus or the software?

Stylus
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchscreen?wasRedirected=true

It hasn't really caught on because the digitizers on capacitive screens aren't as precise as on resistive screens--you won't get the same precision.

@kubernetes
But the tablets have stylus such as hatch flyer..and its also capacitive screen...
Ipad has this thing too.. so what about our phones? Why wont it work?

It will work, I'm just saying that the benefits of a stylus on a capacitive screen aren't nearly as good. You can draw or write with it, but you won't get that single-pixel precision like you would with a resistive screen.

That's interesting.. thanx all..
Anybody suggest a good app and good stylus?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

You can't use a regular plastic tipped stylus pen because it doesn't conduct electricity or something. You need a capacitive stylus like Dagi, Pogo, or Griffin.
Here is a basic review of the 3 popular stylus brand:

I use Sketchbook Mobile for a drawing app. For writing, I don't know, I just use swype. Maybe someone else can recommend a writing app.

stylus suggestion for tab 2

hey guys..
i ve been lookin around for a stylus to use with my tab 2, most of them out in the market are not workin..
my main use of it is for sketchin.. lemme know if there is somethin which works
This tab has a capacitive screen, as with all capacitive screens a normal one wont work. You will need to find one of those special ones with a conductive tip.

[Solved] Stylus Support

This seems like such a noob question but I really don't wanna go through with buying a Nexus 10 and it not support using a Stylus. So: Does it support using a Stylus?
I assume it does but stranger things have happened, and I dont wanna be out $400! Really need to be able to use one with this!
It won't support a capacitive stylus like the note but it will support the normal inductive type just like any other tablet...

You switched it around. It'll support a capacitive stylus but it's no where as accurate as the digitizer found in the Note.

[Q]Nexus 4 touch sensitivity sucks

Coming from an s3 I was able to use my finger nail if I wanted to click on stuff and scroll. No joke I can post a video lol.
Just got my nexus four tonight and I love the phone overall but the touch sensitivity is really bad. Any ideas how I can improve it?

There's a mod in one of the Dev forums... I haven't used it but it seems to be working for those that have installed it.

Lol You're fingernail at the time you were using your s3 must have been short, thus allowing your finger as well to touch the screen without you noticing it. And now that you use your nexus 4, you're fingernail is long again..

Lol ... No. Actually used the back of nail where no skin would be able to touch.
On the n4 I press as hard as I want with my nail and it won't click anything.

This topic doesn't make sense. How does the screen suck when nails aren't supposed to be able to work on a capacitive screen normally?

I never said the screen sucks. I said the touch sensitivity does. And I was using my nail as a comparison between the s3 and n4 screen touch sensitivity.

Really? What are you touching then when you're testing the sensitivity? Do you even understand how capacitive screens work?
The sensitivity mod allows you to tap with the back of fingernail (i know i tried lol). It uses the earlier touch driver, but it does have the side affect of making the phone stall for a minute or more when first booted up; but if used with the supplied modded stock kernel you only have this happen once, also 'Matr1x' kernel also has this feature.

Everything and anything on my phone.
Even if I put my finger on the screen slowly without adding too much pressure it will not recognize the touch...try it.
I guess I'm just used to the s3 really sensitive touch screen.

Can you scroll on your home screen or click on apps with your finger nail?
Can you tap on an app with your finger ever so slightly, but definitely make contact with the glass, on an app icon or keyboard, and no action happens? Meaning the app doesn't open or the letter pressed isn't typed in...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I can scroll with the back of my fingernail, and can open apps with a very small amount of pressure. I don't see why I would use my fingernail anyway

Wow most of you are assholes.. I stopped reading after the 3rd negative response. Does anyone know what an example is? That is what the OP was saying when they said they could select things with their fingernail. It does not mean that they want it to do that but only showing an example of its sensitivity that their other phone had and I can tell you that you CANNOT do this on the Nexus 4 unless you push somewhat. My GS2 would scroll with no issues by grazing the screen I actually have to push before doing the mod.
There is a temp fix and it works fairly well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028289

Galaxy note 2's hidden feature called Air Touch...

Hi friends, I want to show you all... note 2's hidden feature we can call it Air Touch (by this feature you can use your note without touch on its screen through SPen) n hope you'll enjoy this amazing feature... n also let me know how many of you know about it... n if you like this, plz press thumbs up
I've uploaded it on youtube n
Here is the video link

hidden
not its not
Well, for some people, it's not "air touch", it's "S-pen way too sensitive" and it's a problem
(see that vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viDDKGPj2FI)
I guess you tweaked the potentiometer of your S-pen so much that it reacts without even touching the screen ?
BTW, I guess you've lost air view function by doing this, right?
Oh
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
I thought it was some hidden feature of note 2
I liked it very much its cool and samsung should placed one more button to activate n deactivate this air touch feature n its more fun then air view
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
Well, the possibility to activate/desactivate this feature could be a great idea indeed, but I fear it depends on the potentiometer of the S-pen. Maybe another button on the S-pen to activate this feature could be a good idea for the Note 3
Was it out of the box for you, or did you unscrew the S-pen potentiometer to get these results?
(for me, it was just the contrary, the S-pen was not sensitive enough, I had to press the screen pretty hard to get it working, I had to unscrew the potentiometer to get a smooth S-pen. I haven't tried to get results as yours and I'm not sure my S-pen could do this even if I tweak it more)
Well I dropped my SPen today
And found this feature accidentally
Its quite simple if you press your Spen tip little inside then this feature activate... for deactivation pull it little out
But its fun to use it
Now its like some high tech magic wand

Hi I hv seen new galaxy s4 video
It has a air swipe feature... where you can just swipe your palm over screen n it'll change the photos, videos
May be samsung will add this feature air touch on galaxy note 3

Not as convenient but you can get the same result by holding the tip of your finger over the nib of the spen.

This is a pretty old feature which I was using on my old Nokia, it was a 3rd party application that used the front camera to detect the motion of your hands over the screen and swipe photos or pages. Nothing new and certainly not a samsung innovation.
