After ADB loose usb connection - Legend General

Does anybody know how to solve this? After I installed adb driver and enabled installation of applications on SD card, USB teethering with my home computer does not work anymore, and also all USB connections with another computer. What should I do because I often use phone as modem?

How come I cannot connect to my PC using the USB?

I currently have Froyo 2.2 on my HD2 and I am having fun with it.
However, I whenever I connect the phone to my PC using the USB connection, I can never see my phone connect to the PC.
I go to my computer and I don't see any new drive. I can easily do this with WinMo 6.5.
I need to transfer files from my computer to my phone but I cannot make the connection. Please help.
Is there some time of setting that I have to do?
I went to setting -->> Connect to PC --->> Default connection type --->> and I chose Disk Drive but it still does not work.
The options that I have are:
Charge Only
HTC Sync
Disk Drive
USB Tethering
I think I tried all 4 of the options but I still cannot connect my phone to my PC using the USB cable.
Please help.

you can go to market and search for this app(automount),then set it to auto mount when USB connected...then you should see your device on your PC...but you are unable to direct copy files to the device,it'll corrupt...
The most reliable way to copy file from pc to android now is install this software...Android explorer which allows drag and drop...everything...click here
download and install it...hey mate, next time please don't create a thread because of 1 question, try to ask in the thread of your build or search...
Cheers..that definitely will help you..

Have you enabled USB Debugging under Settings? I forgot which sub menu it's under exactly, but you must have USB Debugging enabled for ADB to ever recognize the device.
I had to use PDA.net to have my computer recognize my phone
I had to use the driver that comes on the phone's SD card then connected the phone in USB tether mode. After the driver updated itself, I switched to charge only mode with debugging enabled and it worked fine.

Windows 7 x64 USB Tethering

Hi,
It seems that I've searched everywhere and tried everything, but I'm unable to get USB tethering to work.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding of how it should work between Windows 7 64bit and Typhoon's CM7 Android running on the HTC HD2:
Phone Side:
Wired tethering is already available as an option, so simply enable USB tethering by ticking Settings -> Wireless and network settings -> Tethering & portable hotspot -> USB tethering
Windows Side:
Install the correct ADB driver for the HTC HD2. Does this create a new network adapter? I'm assuming a internet connection starts automatically as soon as tethering is enabled on the phone (and this runs via the network adapter)
When I connect the phone via USB, windows is unable to automatically find a driver. Apparently windows already comes prepackaged with a RDNIS driver, but this doesn't seem to work. The phone shows up in device manager under "Other devices" and is listed as "ADB" with a yellow exclamation mark. Where do I find the correct driver to use, and what happens after I've installed the driver. Is it true that the process is automatic, or do I need to right click on the installed adapter and click connect?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Hi guys. Would really appreciate some tips on this one.
Is nobody using USB tethering on Win7 64?

Hey. I haven't been able to get native USB teathering to work. U can use a app to make it work that seems to be the only way as of now. If you search my posts I posted the apk file.

In the past I've had to search on google for the ADB driver but cannot remember where i found it since I couldnt find it again but a friend just brang their desire hd over and windows 7 found the driver straight away, do u know anyone who would borrow u their android device?
dunno if this helps

Thanks for the replies.
I've already installed the Google USB driver (from the developer site listed above). The phone shows up and the ADB driver is installed.
I've also tried installing the wired tethering apk from google apps. It is currently at version 1.4.
HOWEVER, I still don't understand how this is supposed to work as the ADB driver is not listed under networking devices. Surely you need a network driver to able to establish a connection. What am I not understanding?

Hey, just built a new PC for a friend and tried sharing my internet connection using easytether which didnt work because the pc didnt have the correct adb driver. My friend then installed HTC Sync (for her Desire HD) and windows found an adb driver in there. Now the native tethering & easytether on my phone works.
Now I'm not too sure if htc sync has ANYTHING to do with this, or if the driver was downloaded from her desire hd (usb was plugged in already) but I guess you could try downloading htc sync and see what happens.

yes,i tried with enabled and disabled.nothing, sound on pc is like hi reconised my phone, but i the not see it,my comp manage, disc drives,is not there,am seing somthing of the phone, like emty slot of my exSD card(i remove it)but not the internal memory of the phone.
i tried +#7284# to reset usb setings, but stil nothin, strange thing is that my win7 is instaling all the drivers automaticly, but no visibility.
I don't exactly get your error....
Your phone isn't getting detected or what?
And where is it not getting detected?
In ADB?
You cannot explore your phones internal memory just as you would your sd card simply by using your usb cable and usb drivers. Honestly i think the best way to do it is over wifi using an app like swiftp (i also use it) and accessing your phone like you would an ftp server with windows explorer. But what is it exactly that you want to access it for???

[Q] Nexus 4 usb file transfer

Hi,
This is my first Nexus device (N4), I know they have an emulated SD card, so I expected to connect it to my Win 7 PC via USB, and for the SD card directory to be shown as a file system / drive in Windows. This doesn't happen.
Phone is in MTP mode, screen isn't locked. Am I missing something here, a driver perhaps, or does this functionality no longer exist?
Thanks,
Des
You should get a Nexus 4 device along with your drives, you open that, then go to 'internal storage'
If you're not getting that, then it's probably driver related.
If it doesn't detect by USB at all, you may have a faulty device like me.
If you plug your phone into the wall with the AC adapter, does it constantly say " charging (USB)" in the battery settings?
This defect means I cannot root or charge the phone properly... It sucks..

Most likely a driver issue. When I have use the adb driver I cannot see my device as a storage device. Switching to the default driver Windows installs lets me see it but adb no longer works.
I ended up just using AirDroid to do any file transfers.
There are a few reports of the stock charger being reported as USB charging actually, so it might not be all bad.
The phone might be in MTP mode, but has it installed the MTP driver ? Check Device Manager.
On my own XP system, MTP wouldn't work for me until I turned off USB debugging.

^ This.
On XP, MTP does not work if USB Debugging is turned on. It may be the same for Windows 7 as well.
Same behavior on Windows 7, just fixed my issues. Thanks!
I got similar problem with my N4, yesterday I flashed Mahdi-ROM 2.4[1/02] then my USB stopped working. I can view files through PC, but cannot upload to phone. It says device has been disconnected, but it's still connected Turning off USB debuging didn't help.
I cannot even flash kernel uploaded through Airdroid, recovery gives error - cannot open zip file.
Edit: Nevermind, its PC problem. With other PC it works normal.
use universal naked drivers.
fastboot adb and mtp and ptp working.

After I rooted my N4 a few months ago same thing, cannot get MTP on WinXP
Works fine on my Win7 machines though, its pretty annoying
Tried ALL the fixes I could find, no go
Uninstal all drivers, reconnect N4 let Windows install drivers, it will probably be adb device drivers, then select in device manager adb device drivers update drivers and check install from specific location and on next screen check don't search!
Then you could be able to select mtp. All of this should be done with USB debugging turned off and USB connection as mtp!
