Running Miui 1.1.28 and the camera is poor along with the video camera (no 8mp or 720p recording as it keeps crashing) so I deleted both camera apps. Is there anyway to get the default HTC camera app back on my phone without losing this great ROM?
No people tried and failed HTC apps only work with Rosie (sense) so the standalone app cannot work on other roms it will keep fc.
You would have to get dev to work on modifying Rosie to aosp roms.

What camera apps are you guys using with android? I'm currently using gingerbread cyanomod and miss a lot the desire hd camera, I tested a lot camera apps like vignette, camera zoom, camera 360, lgcamera but none has the face recognition feature or the autoportrait feature, for now I couldn't get the sense camera on my cyanogen build, is there any other great camera app that I've been missing? Thanks..

Camera 360 Ultimate, stock camera and occasionaly fast burst camera.
For me the best camera app that've seen is the camera implemented in Desire Z 3.4 rom (htc sense camera)
It's frustrating we couldn't use the sense camera in other builds..

Anyone working on a camera mod for the arc now that it has been rooted. The camera is great but was looking to reduce the compression a bit. To maybe 3 mb or thereabouts.

Wait, with time new kernels will come, possibly with modded camera drivers.
I couldn't mod the normal Android camera profile for the SE camera app, it only works with stock android camera(we will have it with Modaco rom) and LG camera app that you can download free on the market
Is there a list that we can get of flashable cameras to replace the one we use now? I know of the miui one. But are there others? I could really use a stable camera, with very customizable settings. I kinda enjoy distortions too for effects so that would be nice. My effects dont work, only effects i can do are effects after the photo is taken. Thanks for any help

Replacing a camera app rarely works (the exception here is the miui cam on cm7). I would suggest a third party camera from the market if you're looking for effects.

Alright. Thanks for clearing that up. I personally hate the camera apps on the market lol. Not many good ones

It really is dependent upon the ROM you're using. You can easily flash the EVO camera for example, but the Z camera only works with Z ROMs (for me anyway, YMMV). And the latest camera - GB? - needs a GB ROM I believe.

i dig little photo a lot, it opens the capability up a lot if you the buck or two for the plugin too!
Camera Effects FX is a pretty elaborate camera as far as effects goes. MIUI one is good 'nuff for everything else, easy and quick to use with enough settings to get what you're wanting out of it.
I'm running the latest version of ParanoidAndroid, and noticed that there is a lot of noise in a lot of the photos that I take.
I am thinking it might have to do with the sharpness of the image. Is there a way to reduce sharpness in ICS?

Anyone??

I don't think there is any good fixes for the ICS camera as we are still missing kernel 3.0.
Sent from my DHD.
Kernel 3.0 won't solve this necessarily on sense 4.0 ROMs though

I'm running IceColdSandwich and the camera quality is just as good as CM and even better than stock ROM. The over-sharpening algorithm in stock ROM camera used to introduce a lot of artifacts in photos and they didn't look so good. ParanoidAndroid's base is existz's aospX ROM, and the camera works fine in that too, so it shouldn't be any different for you. There's currently no option in ICS cameras to adjust sharpness. Try running the camera in tablet mode, is there a setting then?

Is it possible that using camera.apk from IceColdSandwich or CM would improve photo quality on Revolutionhd rom? I'm getting blurred photos almost everytime
have u tried uCam.apk ?
very good camera app.

That wouldn't work. Revolution HD is a Sense ROM and the Sense framework is different from AOSP. So CM, AOKP and MIUI cameras won't work. Try using another app though as suggested above. I have Camera Zoom FX which works great.
Using uCam already. Great app. Phoyos are good enough, much better than stock cam app.
I used Camera Zoom FX before. Quality was the same as original
Are you guys internested in a photo foccused rom? Think at a rom wich will have different camera apps such like instagram cameraMX etc! Also the rom will have different libs to make the camera preview smoother! Anyone intersted?

No. I can install camera apps by myself.
