[Q] Insert sim notification - Galaxy Tab General

Been using my galaxy tab for a while now and overall very happy with it.
I have a slight niggle RE: the "insert sim card" notification... I don't want to. It's nice to know I have the option but I don't want to use it other than via wifi.
So every time I boot the device I have the "no sim" icon in the notification bar. Is there a way to get rid of this?
Also "cell standby" seems to be using a lot of battery. I'm not sure why, perhaps it keeps trying to find a sim card?
Any help much appreciated

Insert a sim card...it doesnt have to be active im pretty sure. Just set up a pay as you go account on the sim card that should have come with your tab but dont put money on the account.
Sent from a pimped out G-tab

Just enable airplane mode to remove the icon and also cell standby will be cut to 0% with airplane mode on. Then just enable wifi and ur good to go.

Cheers, will try an old sim I dont use anymore.
@Locster126 That does work, but replaces the "insert sim" icon with the airplane icon.

DHD randomly asks for Pincode (Crash of com.android.phone - ERROR REPORT?)

hey mates,
got a problem: my dhd randomly asks for the pincode..
i'm not sure but i think it's there since i installed widgetsoid to have an mobile network on/off switch on homescreen.
any advice? does anyone have a similar problem?
its a tmobile device uptodate but i'm using it with a "blau.de"-simcard (it's e-plus network).
DN41
Could it be that It's a widget to go to airplane mode. Because if you enable airplane mode and disable it again you must fill in you're pin because you want access to sim again.
Sent from my Desire HD
Your phone may need to be sim/subsidy unlocked to use other sims. If this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857444 doesn't help you remove the message you may have to contact t-mobile for a subsidy code (you may have to pay) to use another sim.
EDIT: hmmm I may be talking about the wrong thing...

mh..nope thats not right because the phone isnt looked..you see, i can use it, mobile network works, etc, etc...it just asks for pin.
@henv: ok..but why should the widget do that?
others dont have that problem..mh..
DN41
I don't know which widget you have but there are widgets which do that.
You say you have a widget that disable network.
Sent from my Desire HD
yeah, widgetsoid, but only if i touch the button
DN41
Maybe enabled the lock screen pin?
nope haha
its definetily the sim pin
DN41
another guess: what if the phone looses the signal and gets it back afterwards? does it then ask again for the pin?
is there any setting to solve this?
i had never such problems with winmo, although i had also signal drops..
any advice?

If it loses signal and then gets it back it does not ask for the pin code.
Is your sim card inserted as far as it can go? Maybe the connection with the sim card is a bit dodgy.
nope if i push harder, it'll brake
DN41
when i lose signal and then get it back, my phone asks me for pincode. maybe that's the problem
ok..so can someone else comfirm this too?
is there any chance to disable this "feature"?
DN41
Afaik the phone asks for pin if you manually disable your signal (boot, airplane mode) . After loosing signal (out of coverage area etc.) It shouldn't ask for pin. As for the widget I think it somehow disables your signal.

hey guys,
little update: some minutes ago, i was playing around with my phone.
suddenly i got the message that "com.android.phone crashed". i pressed ok and the phone asked me for the pin.
so i guess this is our beast
is there any chance to find out, why the process crashed?
DN41
Please check after the phone app crash whether you have your SMS messages... After my phone app crash I have lost all messages
regards, m.
all of them are still there
DN41
mh..again that annoying problem...
any chance for any kind of "error report"?
DN41
Hi DN41,
I got the same problem.
I think the problem is from 3G or sim card.
I noticed that when i put the phone in gsm, all is ok. But i didn't let gsm for few days to be sure. Need to test.
Need to test to put the sim card in an other phone and an other sim in my phone. Like that we will be sure that is à sim problem.

Ok but mine worked fine in my hd2..I uninstalled widgetsoid a few hours ago and had no crash since then. Let's wait and see

[Q] Help, packet data not working

Hi, the packet data is not working. In settings it's enabled, but the icon next to the battery one is not shown. I tried turning it off and on, but of course, nothing happened. I'm a newbie, so any help will be appreciated.
Before it stopped working, i was testing some widgets ("power toggles", and the one of the aplication "optimize tool box"), and I updated the lighting launcher. I'm not sure that's relevant, but well...
ps: i have stock rom, stock kernel and it's root.

I get the same problem sometimes. Try restarting the phone with the packet data turned on. When the phone restarts, it refreshes the network received and that sometimes solves the problems, i.e. the icon is shown in the status bar. If you still don't get it, that means that the data network is not available by your service provider at that time.

Hi, thanks for the answers. Unfortunately it didn't work turning the flight mode on and off, or restarting the phone with the packet data turned on.
I tried the SIM in another phone and the packet data works, so it's the cellphone and not a network provider issue.

make sure you have a working APN
if not, try to insert a new sim (same network provider) and see if it updates APN settings.

Try flashing a fresh stock rom of your region. This might help you.
Rom:JellyBlast V3
Kernel:Kurotstogi
Theme:Xperia theme with some personal modification.
Check your APN settings if it's correctly set. Most problems occur with this.

[Q] Note 3 Emergency calls only/No Service

I have a Galaxy Note 3 with a problem. When i put my sim card in, it asks for SIM PIN and I type it. Then I get "Emergency Calls Only" or "No service. It wont connect to my SIM CARD NETWORK.
I have tried/Things I know
-Checking Network Operator and select network from there. Tried also "Select Automatically" still nothing happend. It pops out " Registred on network" but it is not.
- I have changed Network Mode from "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" to "WCDMA/GSM", then!! My network comes up in 5 seconds and go to normal again "Emergency Calls only"
- My IMEI is not blacklisted! It comes up on screen when typing *#06#.
- MY PHONE connects to the 4G perfectly! I get internet to surf from my SIM CARD! It means the phone is actually connected to the phone. BUT why dont it connect to the operator so I can call?
I really need help!

I think you will have to change the SIMCARD.
*COUNCIL: Try your current SIMCARD in other device for know if works ok or not.
My friend, its not SIM CARDS fault. I have two Galaxy Note 3`s and my SIM CARD works fine on all mobiles. The simcard has no damages or anything. It is a system failure I think. My phone connects to my network operator in like 5 seconds and go off when I change between Network Modes.

1. Root your device and flash Custom Recovery (like TWRP).
2. Make a nandroid backup to your SDCARD (data, system, EFS, boot, cache... ALL).
3. Wipe all (wipe system the last).
4. Reboot in download mode and reflash the stock ROM via ODIN: HERE.
5. Root your device again, flash TWRP and restore the backup (selecting ADVANCED BACKUP in TWRP) and select what you wanna restore.
6. Done.
I did that, still not working.
Did that, still same problem

i think xda is for modding and hacking. not for repairing.
every dev post about "I'm not responsible" then you have to fix it by samsung.

I don't know where you got that idea, but it's absolutely not true. Just look around: There are countless threads about solving this or that problem. Going through the manufacturer for repair is usually a last resort option.
As morningstar said. Going to Samsung to repair your phone is the last option. I am searching for help to solve this problem and you are coming here with your "lol" trying to help with some useless and not true information.
"try and try one day you can fry" never heard off that.
Just to check, the IMEI doesn't happen to start with 0049, does it?
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
No, my IMEI is correct and matches with my phone. Its the same as back off my phone when I pull out my battery. This is really strange, because I can see that people who are facing this problem have a blacklisted/corrupt IMEI, but mine is correct.

Hi, noticed this can happen if you are somewhere and you lose all your signal....won't reconnect to data when you get a signal again.
Turning phone off/on, data off/on, airplane off/on doesn't help..... only thing that worked was in network settings - change to 3G/2G only, then toggle back to 4G/3G/2G auto....seemed to kick it back to life.
Thanks finding out now that nobody can call me and can't call out if I do it goes to 3g then h then nothing and have to re insert sim if nobody calls I can use mobile data but still not the phone don't get it like when someone calls I lose the signal it goes off never had this issue and had plenty of phones could the sim connection be faulty?but then mobile data comes on and works it was all working fine for a week I'm baffled

Hi, not the same issue I was having...I could still make and receive calls and sms's.....just no data connection. Only thing I can suggest is trying a different sim card - if the fault appears with a new sim , then it's the phone at issue.
The following process helped for my problem which exhibited the same symptoms twice: 1. Switch off the phone; 2. Pull out the sim card and insert it back; 3. Switch the phone back on. Hope it helps

Is This Single Sim OR Dual Sim .... S7
It's for 1 sim and 1 sd card
I have a dual sim s7 edge. Unlocked. Decided to go with T-mobile. Data comes on for a minute and then disappears until I restart the phone again. Even though I select sim 1 as the one that should use the mobile data, when I drag the top of my screen where it says: "calls sim 1; messages sim 1..." it says data sim 2.... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
EDIT: So I have tried various options time and time again for the dual sim mobile data issue. For me - it worked when I disabled sim 2, but when I re-enabled it, it started defaulting back to sim 2 for mobile data and it was effed. So finally, even though this is not ideal (but doesn't make 'real' difference), I replaced by sims - put my main sim (for calls, txt, data) in the slot for sim 2 and put my backup sim (for calls, txt) in tray for sim 1. It works without a problem so far (24h test so far).
EDIT 2: So after 48h, my mobile data started defaulting to sim 1 (which was now my backup sim, since before it was defaulting to sim2)... I have NO idea!!! Am I gonna have to change the sim placements every1-2 days??!?!?! Please let me know if you have any other fixes. Thanks

Receive calls from secondary sim only during a given time frame?

Hey guys!
My dad was recently given a Galaxy A20 (technically it's an A20e, but since my question is regarding software, I doubt that it makes any difference) at his workplace, and he wants to transfer his own SIM into this new phone, but only if there is a way to sort of "turn off" his work SIM after work hours (so for example only receive calls and texts from 6am to 3pm).
I've dug around in the settings, especially for Notifications and Sim card manager, but couldn't find what I was looking for.
Did I miss something extremely obvious, or is there no way (without using 3rd party apps) to achieve what we're going for?
Thank you!
My A20 is not dual sim so I cant help you.
