Just switched over from apple, and purchased a GT. Love it, but playing on the browser makes me want to smash the thing..
default browser is pretty smooth, but i hate how it changes the text quality while scrolling. Ive tried Dolphin, miren, skyfox, and they all seem to have very laggy scrolling. I thought maybe the OCLF would help, but it didnt.. from what i gather a GT should score 1000+ on quadrant, and after the OCLF i scored a 2100... Am i going to have to live with this? is there anything i can do?!
Also.. i find images on some apps (IE facebook) look like garbage. almost similar to what 16bit colour image would look like. whats up with that?
Stock browser is an abomination, download dolphin mini its much better.

Try flashing a custom kernel I guess.

kill some of the apps you have running in the background ... the standard system has taskmanager.. but you can download advanced task killer free or advanced task manager free on the market. I use dolphin HD on my tab and it is smooth like butter.
Been there, done that. I know your frustration.
Solution: Flash your Tab to Roto's JMI and use Miren Browser. For me, after doing this it is now almost as smooth as that on iPad

yeah Definetly set flash to on demand and get Dolphin HD not Dolphin mini

What Pat said (or even better for me, flash Modaco kernel with fully working nandroid backup/restore and Modaco JMI based ROM). Also, set Flash to on-demand in browser options. For an extra sprinkling of fairy dust, I'd also set LCD density to somewhere around 200 from stock 240. Makes the resolution feel a lot more iPad like.

I have no problems with browser but how to change LCD density ? I can't see that in settings.
^^LCD Density is a system-wide setting and not something only for the browser..Look for LCD Density Changer in Market. There is a free app for that too IIRC!

Stock browser is simply junk and totally useless.
Try skyfire.
Once i changed LCD density, some apps have become screwy (like camera app, and Words With Friends game). Components don't display properly. Is there a workaround?

Is anyone else having the issue of the FR007 being slow and laggy? When I scroll through all my apps, there is a huge lag. And the sliding of the home screens have some lag in it too. Is it just my aria or something that I did wrong while rooting/flashing? If there's a way to fix this, please tell. I really like FR007, but am thinking about switching back to R012. Thanks in advance.

Did you do a full wipe before flashing the new rom
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Yeah. I did a nandroid backup and then wipe data. And then flashed.

No lags here. May some service or app working in background?
their is some noticeable lag, the stock rom from att is deff faster but isn't nearly as clean ;(
OP, I had the same problem, ended up going back to R012. I was sad.
I was using CM6.1 rc2 until my apps started closing (dolphin browser hd, Rom gripper, etc.) Then I switched to liberated fr007 and haven't had one issue. The only thing that ever gave me a lag was overclocking widget, live wallpaper, and using an alternative home screen (ADW. Launcher, Home++)
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Yeah it lags for me. Especially if I use Pandora radio
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Try this.
Go to market and get Overclocking Widget.
Put the widget anywhere on your homescreen.
Tap it, grant it SU permissions, you will probably have to tap it again for it to display.
Now on the 2nd slider that says Maximum set it all the way to the right.
Uninstall the widget, whichever method you prefer and the lag problem will probably go away.
* uninstalling the widget makes it where it won't automatically slow your phone down when it hasn't been in use for a while, which means you have to mess with the slider every time you unlock your phone.
** this may also have a negative impact on your battery, but if your like me and charge your phone every night it shouldn't be a problem.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
You shouldn't be using an overclocking widget or setcpu with the stock fr rom- it will result in more lag and unpleasantness than you started with. The stock kernel simply doesn't support over or underclocking.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
It doesn't support OVER clocking or UNDER clocking, but setting the processor works just fine--there is no issues, that's what saved my battery life actually & the phone runs great.
There is no need to set the processor with a third party app if you are using the stock kernel. Hell, even cm6.1 defaults to 600 making setCPU optional. I saw on the other thread that you think developers too often blame apps for malfunctions but I think you will find that devs and contributors are just as sick of newbies spreading misinformation and not listening to sound advice and attributing their own folly to wrongly defamed software. If I were anyone reading this thread I would encourage you to be wiser than I and let this, and other new troll threads die before they begin.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
until we get a decent kernal that supports OC, you're just messing things.
I just end up running slower and stuttering in many apps.
Here is a nice way to change your screen resolution, Download LCDDensity for root:
https://market.android.com/details?id=lv.n3o.lcddensity&feature=search_result
and set it to 150. The only problem is that some apps that only run on 800x480 resolution appear to be a quarter of the screen. I wonder if there is a way to fix this, because this would be an awesome default for our screens.
Don't go too far below that, your rom may not boot and you might loose appdata, the safest I dared to go was 150, and the highest is 300, but 300 sucks, its so big
Yeah I stopped using it because of apps and dialer was a bit off using it.. I don't think there is a fix yet
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Wow, this app is awesome. I'll be using it until any major problems occur.

I don't see the point. Actual pixel density is a property of the hardware (read: unchangeable), so why tell everything running on your phone that you have a higher density?

I can now fit more on my home screen. I can now see more facebook lol, I like how my maps are now. Idk, to each their own.
Did you try it out?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
The Only Problem with this is the notification bar does not scale to the whole screen, the market doesn't work and the phone is quarter size. If you uninstall and reinstall the apps that didn't work, they should work fine. I wonder if a developer could fix these problems or make a ROM that supports this "change of resolution".
Everything is ok for me, but market fc and that kills it for me. If a market can somehow be modded to work for it I'd run it fulltime.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
240 is the default for our phones. I generally run 200 most of the time, but certain games like PewPew will crash eventually. The Market does not force close on me at 200, but I haven't tried any other resolutions. I'm running Syndicate 1.1 btw.

Nope! Dolphin Pad https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dolphin.browser.pad
Im on it as we speak. It does seem kinda promissing in speed but had it 10 minutes using xda in the new mode with no hasitation
After using this a whole day and comparing it to say stock browser im back to stock.it turns out to be faster .sometimes the dolphin pad freezes right at the end of loading some web sites. I think its a flash or Java issue as sometimes it seems as thou its a add that is stooping it.
With that said it is in beta I sent Dev a message its promising
search dolphin pad in market to get

How's it so different from the regular dolphin HD browser?
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Just DLed it and spent the last 30 minutes putting it through its paces. One weird random close, but otherwise very smooth and fast. Does a good job even on CNN flash videos, and the gesture feature seems a bit more accurate than the 6.0 HD I was using.

To be honest, I haven't been using Dolphin HD so I'm not qualified to compare the two. I definitely suggest trying it out though!
So not for us with 10" tablets running Android 2.2? Shame.
Dolphin HD I've noticed when you scroll down, you lose the tabs. With DolphinPad, they stay. Also, Fullscreen on Pad seems better, can't really describe it. Pad doesn't have that annoying gesture thing on the bottom either. Swiping side to side for shortcuts seems more fluid. Flash works well. Just seems much more optimized for the tablet. Settings layout is much better imho. Overall, Pad = Win in my eyes. I'm coming from the Asus Transformer, but I can only imagine similar performance for the Iconia.

It is a very promising browser and a distinct upgrade over Dolphin HD 6. However, I couldn't find a quick way to import bookmarks from Dolphin HD and the address bar did not show the "home" icon (or I could not find it), so if anyone from the Dolphin team is reading this, please add these functions.

I know I'm not the only one with the problem of the laggy app drawer. When you first open it, it's perfectly smooth. Then, if you leave it alone for a second and use it again, it's extremely slow. It happens on any Acer-based rom, including unrooted stock.
Well, here's an interesting fact: This only happens with a static wallpaper. The issue goes away with a live wallpaper.
Why is this happening? Is it a problem with the launcher or the rom?

Wow, that is interesting.
I have noticed that some people experience this issue, and some of them don't. My app drawer does get slow and laggy, but its more just a bit choppy than anything else. It doesn't really bother me so I never worried about it too much.
To be honest, I hadn't noticed that either. However, based on your description, it sounds like the live wallpaper prevents the cpu governor from underclocking (by virtue of the fact that it's more cpu-intensive, thus requiring the cpu to operate at a higher clock), thus preventing initial lag. Just hazarding a guess, though.
finally a thread about this. Here's what I know. I don't think its the CPU scaling because I've tried to fix this. It still happens even when I force it to 1.4 ghz+ the only rom without this problem is virtuous xoom. And it doenst seem to be the launcher. I've tried swapping them around
stock rooted 3.2 and cant make it happan, using reg walpapper. Did not see on previous versions.
I have seen this on other 3.2 tablets... I assume its a gpu thing or just a bug in 3.2

looks like it is hc 3.2 issue - i wasn't experiencing this on hc 3.1 roms
i was trying as well find out the reason...
only thing what i found out - when the lag is there - killing any of running apss will kill the lag for some seconds as well and the app drawer become smooth again.
tested with quick system info pro.
Its the otherway round for me.......the app drawer lags a lot when i use live wallpaper and lags a little less when i use a static wallpaper....i think it depends on the kind of (live or static) wallpaper used on the device.....

I cant scroll properly when using quickpic or changing screens on lauchers only does it on ICS. Running STOCK. Does not do this when I go back to gingerbread but while on ics its annoying

its not lag that I am having. Its issues with say when swiping through pics in the gallery or quickpic where scrolling just sucks
I responded in another post by you (best GB rom or something) and asked why you wanted to change to GB.
ICS is very smooth swiping up down, left right, on any ICS rom. Not laggy at all. However I do have an issue with one app regarding sideway scrolling, but that is a UK specific app, and the dev knows about it. Quickpic scrolling is super smooth for me, and so is on Apex, Nova and my preferred choice, GoLauncher.
