I dont know what happen but when ppp went live usb tethering stopped working. Everyone uses wifi tether now.
Your laptop doesnt have wifi?
I asked a similar question sometime ago, please check this thread:

The conclusion was: if you want to use your laptop's internet on the HD2 (in some kind of reverse tethering), the best is to use a software like VirtualRouter or Connectify to make an Acess Point from your wifi card that your HD2 can easily connect to. I am sorry, but there's not an easy USB solution like you have for Windows Mobile. I hope one day they to it, though.
You shouldnt need any special extra software. It just might be something that doesnt work in the kernal at the moment.
Native android devices can do it aslong as they are rooted.
Lets not say it isnt possible as that makes android sound gimp
My problem is: in my room..wifi is only enough for my lap ( HD2 can connect the wifi but because the wifi signal too weak...) and i'm using internet in my lap by wifi...so i cant using wifi tethering...hic....any solution??
Try WiFi internet sharing in Windows from your laptop.

Hi all,
I have a 3G mobile access, Tattoo, Hero. And i would like to use the Tattoo to share the 3G mobile signal as a hotspot for other mobile devices such as Hero, Nexus One, etc.
Could this hotspot be available in Tattoo or Hero just like hTC Desire, Nexus One?
Thanks.

Thanks, Hm... Tried the aNetShare which provide a tethering services only allow wireless access to computers such as PC, Mac, Ubuntu.
But other kinds of mobile devices such as Hero can't find due to it's not a WiFi hotspot
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ that should do it but be careful the battery !It drains out real quick. My GF's Mac book had successfully connected to it.
P.S. You might have an issue with the resolution.
Barnacle is good as well for WiFi tethering.
But tethering only allowed PC, Mac to connect with but it's not for other kinds of mobile devices such as my Hero
Has anyone figured out a way to connect to a WiFi AdHoc network (created by MyWi on iOS or Barnacle on Android) from an HD2 running WP7 or any other WP7 phone for that matter?
I tried the HIDDEN_WIFI.xap tweak but it's not helping, thanks !
dual boot and use android
Yeah, well the problem is that my Tmobile USA HD2's GSM radio is basically useless in France (signal very low) so that's not really an option.
Hey is it possible to use internet pass-through without an htc sense rom...
I am using MIUI android and want to use internet pass through like in htc sense rom..
I want to use computers internet in hd2...
Is there some way to do so ??
There should be an option in Settings>System>Tethering&Hotspot
Just enable USB Tethering.
I think internet pass-through is the other way around from wifi or USB tethering.
It allows the phone to use the pc's internet connection.
Is it the same way or I have it all backwards. put me wise.
Do all MIUI builds have pass through built in ! I think not ...
One up for WM 6.5.x, bluetooth, USB & adhoc internetet sharing from device to PC or PC to device all setup in under a minute.

ok, I'm at a loss on how to tether a Blackberry Playbook to my Htc Hd2 T9193 phone.
My HTC HD2 phones provider is Rogers with a dataplan.
I can tether my work laptop to the htc hd2, just fine. But I can't figure oue a way to successfully tether the Playbook.
Anyone who knows how to accomplish this, please, please help with some step by step instructions!
Thanks,
Sheldon

Hi Sheldon,
I had exactly the same problem and tried a number of approaches. Problem is that the playbook won't recognize ad-hoc wifi networks such as you can create with the HTC winMo tether app or wmwifirouter, only infrastructure.
Another option would be bluetooth but unfortunately the HD2 only properly supports the PAN profile whereas the playbook expects DUN. Having said that, with a lot of messing about i did manage to get a few successful momentary BT tethers out of the blue (never 2 in row) altho it was nowhere near reliable, suggesting there may be a solution in there somewhere.
In the end, I installed the fantastic darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 on the SD card as a dual-boot and used the built-in android wifi hotspot app which works flawlessly.

if your HD2 has the latest HTC (3.14) firmware on it, then the above install is a breeze (takes about 15 minutes with no flashing etc. required) and is an absolute no-brainer imo. since besides gaining the ability to tether your playbook a/ you get full android functionality with everything working; b/ it boots from winMo in under 30 seconds; and c/ you get your original winMo OS back any time you want just by rebooting, so best of both worlds.
Best thing I ever put on my HD2.
Hope this helps.
