Hi everybody,
I've been digging into a lot of forums without clear answers and you may be of some help:
I've changed the digitizer of my Omnia I8000 running under W6.5 and everything was ok except that I damaged the ribbon cable for the keypad and the camera buttons. I was so close...
Now I do not have access to the camera buttons and can't enjoy my new scratchfree screen with homemade photos...
I've ordered a new one but in case i can't fix it I was wandering if there's a way to remap this button to the cube button for exemple.
Hbutton or aeplus is of no use, these hardware buttons are low level linked to the cam app.
I can launch cam application but when in camera mode i have no way to take the picture. Remapping the cube button to the cam app works by launching it but when in cam mode, the cube button don't trigger the picture.
I did'nt find where the low level hardware keys are link to the cam app.
Even if it means cooking a special rom i don't care, I can live without the cube button.
Any help appreciated
Eric

Remapping camera key on XDA IIi
There's a nice bit of software that's been written by a guy called Alexander Eltsyn and is available HERE that does a better job of remapping the buttons.
Hey Guys,
is there any way to for instance chance the button with which you take pics on the HD, I have been taking pictures in the normal way but prefer to use the side buttons or another button on the bottom.
Help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Agreed ... is there any software that could do this. Heard software such as AE button could reconfig the buttons but cld these be done for the HD, would be really useful and less awkward then the touch screen in my opinion

Hmmm - I have AEButton Plus and I have not previously played with the camera and this button mapper.
I have the volume buttons mapped. BUT, in the camera application it seems that AEB+ is no longer able to trap the volume buttons. It looks like HTC have switched off the volume buttons in the camera application.
When I exit from the camera then the AEB+ mapping works fine.
so it is not possible to reassign other buttons to this purpose? too bad, thanks for the help and please let me know if you find anything!
actually it is possible to reassign volume up to Enter (with aebplus/aebutton plus) and use it in the touch hd camera app. Well... at least it used to work for me for some weeks. Now I have exactly the same problem and don't know what could have changed.
Strange thing is: When I unmap volume up in aebplus, do a soft reset, remap the button (with some luck) I can take exactly one picture - afterwards it is simply ignored.
really strange behaviour but it shows that there IS a way to keep the camera app from grabbing keys...
I did it Application released soon!

Hi, I have searched and can't seem to find a answer to this.
Looking for a way of mapping the volume keys to the camera button instead of having to use the on screen button. Think the screen would need flipping too...
Can anyone help?
pliis , help me finding camera hardware button key code
(for my Samsung OMNIA II ) .
i try this with "DELTA LOCK" but pressing CAMERA button runs CAMERA APP..
i cannot find download link for "testkeys.exe" - maybe this help me..
i need this for cameratimer app.

You should be able to associate apps to buttons in the Windows Mobile settings.
this doesnt help for me....
i need numerical code for camera button...
for this app :

Try this mate.
I used it when I where developing for Sable. Hope this will work for Omnia too.
Ok... You could use an emulator (like pocket nester) and check the key code in the key mapper options.
to JACKOS....
this is the same as DELTALOCK - cannot view CAMERA button.. - ohers buttons without problems.. but CAMERA runs CAMERA app ...
POCKET NESS - same problem, all buttons o.k., but CAMERA and SLEEP run app....
:-(((
no way ???
you can try with AEBPLUS.My htc s710's camera hardware button is 00E9.
I think it could be very useful if there was a physical camera button on the SGS2, but since it doesn't have one, i figured maybe we can "create it"...
How about turning you power off button into a camera button while using the camera?
What i'm suggesting is to build an application that can solve this problem.
If anyone thinks he can develop an app for that, i'm sure it would help us all

On my old phone (T-mobile pulse) I made a mod to change what the keys did by editing a file called surfkey.kl (or something similar) in /system/usr/keylayout
Ive just had a look on the GSII and the equivilant files are called sec_key.kl and sec_touchkey.kl (the former controlls the hard keys and the later the capacitive keys)
In the file sec_key.kl on the the keys mapped is key 212 (not sure what this is, but can find out in recovery mode) which is mapped to camera, suggesting that there is a camera button in some form on this device.
If not, it shoudl be the simple case of finding one of the keys you done use, the changing it to Camera.
Aaron
Edit: So ive had a look in recovery and cannot find key 212. Seems that most of the keys that are mapped in this file are not actually there.
I'm not a developer...
CyanogenMod 7 has configurable camera button to e.g. a volume key. I'm personally going to use CM7 when it's out so not worried about that.
i have remapped "vollume down" as camera key... but i have lost the "volume down" feature. ..... it´s really hard to find the related key in the camera-app itself.
