Reset your phone? Look here! - Galaxy S I9000 General

hey guys,
originally this was a "HALP I RESET MY FONE" but i solved the problem.
If you reset using the flash code: "*2767*3855# " like I was stupid enough to do, you would have found that upon the last # there was no confirmation screen...
Go to
Settings → About phone (THIS MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT BUILDS, CHECK OTHER CATEGORIES E.G APPLICATIONS OR CONNECTIONS) → USB settings → Mass storage.
mount your phone using mass storage, to your computer.
Download THIS and run it: (can't link due to low post count) torrents. thepiratebay .org/5828126/Recuva_1.36.479_[Portable].5828126.TPB.torrent
Select your drive (it should be visible if you "usb mass storaged " it) and select pictures/documents/whatever.
Enable Deep scan!
search and recover, and enjoy

How to reset Nike to the factory settings?

How can I reset Nike to the factory settings? Is there so called "format" function available?
Check the wiki...
edit: just checked myself, and nothing there... Under start->settings->system (tab), tap on 'clear storage' and follow the instructions. you will lose all your data, so back it up...

Does "clear storage" wipe only the memory card or does it wipe whole phone (incl. storage card)?
internal memory only
I would remove my storage card if I were you though (just to be safe)
It should just restore the phone, and not the storage card. to be safe, you could remove the card.

Thanks, factory reset succeed without problems!
Ps. If you have encrypted your memorycard, disalbe encrypting because otherwise you data is lost (or backup data to pc before actions).

Clean Start on JM2 Question

So I was thinking since I have been downloading, trying, messing, uninstalling, installing etc etc
You get the picture.
Was thinking of giving my Galaxy a bit of a clean.
So my thoughts were:
Option A
1. Make a record of what programs I actually like not what I have installed.
Maybe screen shots might be the idea.
2. Factory data reset my Galaxy.
3. Unmount and format my internal memory
4. Unmount and format my SDCard
5. Do settings and account
6. Install applications.
7. Transfer music.
Sound like a good idea??
Option B
Someone said I should clean out what applications I don't want first and suggested an easier method.
1. Backup data and system settings with BackupPro
2. Backup applications with AppMonster
3. Factory reset.
4. Unmount and format my internal memory
5. Unmount and format my SDCard
6. Install applications Appmonster
7. Install settings and data BackupPro
8. Transfer music.
Which option would be better. Would I get some bad data if I did Option B.
Advice greatfully received.
MyBackup (a back up program ) lets you choose what programs to backup.
You could just backup what you need you want to keep, hard reset it, and put what you want back on.
Thats my suggestion. I'll be doing this soon, I've been messing around so much with it!
Yeah one of my options is to do this.
I have folders and junk left over from Applications I have uninstalled.
If I installed Clockwork will it be removed with a Factory Data reset or should I flash the phone again with JM2.?
ClockworkMod is stored on the internal SD card, so a factory reset shouldn't remove it (I'm not sure if flashing a firmware wipes the internal SD though).
Try TitaniumBackup for your backup needs.
Why do you want to format the SDCard? Is that really necessary? Does it really improve the performance? (I hope not, transfering 14Gb of music files is just too much)
And, do you a perform a factory reset from the settings/privacy menu on the galaxy or from the bootscreen (that is triggered by adb reboot command). I have the idea that the first option is much more thorough than the second.

For JP2 their was a noticable improvement after reformating the SDCard.
Since I have a lot of left over folders and what's not was thinking this could be a good time to clean up.
I would use the Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset.

Selling phone need help wiping

I'm selling my phone and I need help setting it back to factory settings. I used to be able to do it in my mytouch and I'm pretty sure I do know how to do it but I want to be sure I wipe everything. I have some sensitive stuff on this thing that I don't want to stick around.
hold menu button select settings, goto sd card and phone storage
unmount phone storage and click format
reboot phone into recovery and select delete user data, and delete cache.
Thank you.

[Q] Wiping internal memory

Is there any way to wipe the internal memory on Iconia? Mine is just too messed up, and a wipe/factory reset in CWM leaves internal memory intact.
Try the advanced settings in CWM. I usually just plug my device into my PC and delete all that's on it if I want to clean all the crap I accumulated from it.

Bootlooping out of nowhere, cant mount /data

All,
I have a SM-G35FD which is in a bad state. My phone started boot looping one morning after it was fine the night prior (3 days ago now) and I believe an auto-update may be the root cause. I am trying to find any way to access the internal memory to recover data, however I am not able to mount /data or /sdcard. I have not done much with my phone besides adding root, no CFWs ever, and no custom recoveries (prior to today). Also, I lock my phone with my thumbprint. I did not go through any encryption setup on my device.
Details about the initial problem:
It started boot looping several times and at some point it shows a black screen with red text. after letting the battery drain (because I could not force reboot) i was able to get into stock recovery and wipe the cache and reboot; this led to occasionally getting to the security screen which would freeze 1-2 seconds after logging in.
Things I have tried (19mar2017)
got into stock recovery, wiped cache, rebooted. Freezes at security login screen
Installed TWRP to get more functionatity. Was able to install TWRP
used TWRP to try to mount Data, but it will not mount (only System, Cache, EFS, and USB OTG will mount)
used TWRP to wipe Dalvik and Cache only. Errors show "cannot mount /data"
used TWRP to install CWF, freezes during extraction (4-5%)
can use ADB to run shell
UPDATE 20mar2017: Ran "Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> *Select System Partition -> Repair or Change File System" on /system. I think this was a bad move as now I can access the /sdcard folder and its missing all data. I didn't think it would matter since the options under Wipe show "System" and "Internal Storage" separately.
Perhaps data does not mount because it needs my thumbprint? Is there anything I can try to backup the internal user memory partition and my fingerprint signatures? any way to access the user data?
Thanks to all for their time!
I found a video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJRKuQf0puE ) which suggest that I can use TWRP to "change the filesystem" for the /System (and other) mounts in order to fix the /data mount. This can be accessed using Recovery(TWRP) -> Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> *Select System Partition -> Repair or Change File System -> Change File System -> Options { EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, FAT, exFAT, F2FS }. Since my goal is to recover the "User Data" partition, I would not perform this on "Internal Memory" but would on the other partitions. Hopefully this would allow me to reinstall the Stock FW and allow me to login to the Internal Memory to access my files.
Does anyone know if using "Repair or Change File System" will impact the Internal Storage?
Try to reinstall the Stock Firmware Through Odin, I had this problem also when I used to own a J5... All I did was just Reinstall the stock firmware... if you want to find the stock firmware.. just go to sammobile.com
