Hey guys,
First of all I wanna say how frustrated I am with how slow the development of themes and roms is going. I'm so anxious to unleash the BEAST inside of the Fascinate. It's an amazing phone with so much potential, but it just needs a few things. I had an Incredible since it came out, and the options were endless with roms/themes/kernels, you name it. Nevertheless, I won't complain because I'm not a dev and I have so much respect for those guys.
Anyway, I'm really looking to port over some themes from a few other different phones. However, from what I understand my phone needs to be deodexed. Can someone tell me how to go about doing this? Any help would be great!

I believe you soak it thoroughly in white vinegar for a few hours, then let it dry and you should be good.

If you're that anxious, quit your job and start developing fascinate ROMs full time.
I'm sure these guys are doing their best, and it's only been a few weeks.
We have root and clockwork so far, the rest will be coming soon.
Wow, I love how quickly the flaming starts. I stated in my first post about how I appreciate everything the devs are doing, I'm just anxious that's all. I thought by asking a question like this I'd get some productive feedback from someone so that I could start theming my phone. But apparently that's not the case.
So does anyone want to help or does everyone just want to flame me?

You guys flaming must be really bored. Of all the posts that deserve a jab, his seemed pretty innocuous.
Anyway, I have deodexed other android phones (Incredible, Droid X) and the manual process was, if not brutal, at least time consuming and buggy. Better to just wait for one of those developers you were good naturedly poking for some advice to release a pre-deodexed zip.

Hey, no need for flaming anyone. We understand that the process is moving slowly. We just have other things that we want to get finished first. There are a few people just trying to get the kernel to boot from the source samsung posted. There has already been some breakthroughs, wifi and sound is what they are working on now.
As for roms, fallingup posted a semi-clean rom. It's not deodexed, but it gets rid of alot of the bloatware.
Matt4542 is trying to get his running and it is deodexed, he is also trying to find a phone lol.....

Just skip the vzwlbs files. They have issues. Xeudoxus confirmed VZW's ****ty code is producing the errors. Just so you know I already tried this and applying the deodexed files borked my phone. I had to odin system. It may have been my method of applying the files. I believe it's best to do it in recovery. Best of luck. I hope you get it working.
Also had similarly bad success here. Pushed the deodex'ed files back into system/app and system/framework, and removed all odex files except the vzwlbs.odex.
Phone got black screen after the VZW boot up animation.
Let mine run and I am up and running... I also didn't put in the vzwlbs bs. Do I need them for something?? LMK if I am missing something. New to this

Just rebooted and it is fine. tell me what you need and how to do it...
Now I have flashed every rom that can be flashed since flashing for the epic has started and I must say I feel like an idiot never having flashed MIUI ROM... So sunday I flashed it and I must say there is so many fantastic things about it. the breakdown in battery use through the use of its own built in settings!
from launcher customization and speed again through its own settings... there is a lot more id like to discuss I think you should try it for yourself!

I think we should all try MIUI I think development is slowing down in general and not just in MIUI... for all epic roms I miss the constant checking everyday and not being dissapointed cause no update was posted on my current rom or others for that matter
I think the MIUI thread is dieing and well I am a new user to MIUI and I wish another dev could help out it is a fantastic ROM and even with the call bug from the CM6-7 bug where speaker needs to be toggled and the incoming call need to wait like 3 rings before you can pick it up I am sure with a little work these bugs can be fixed. I also wish colorize widget worked with MIUI I guess what I am asking for is for those of you who haven't tried MIUI try it and show your support by reporting bugs on the page for the DEV's

+1! I had tried every other rom except MIUI, untill yesterday. I do have to say though it sure is amazing! I'm not too in love with the launcher & no app drawer, so I'm using lpp, but other then that and a couple bugs, the rom is great! The look and feel is awesome.
I think the reason people aren't trying it as much, is because the thread isn't being updated with a changelog and what not, normal users may look at the title and see last time it was updated was on the 24th of feb (I believe). I know that's a reason I didn't even look in the thread until yesterday, turns out there is someone else workin on it and posting updates on it. You guys should go check it out.

I think thats exactly why I never really looked into it either! no change log ect... but man does this rom fly.... ALSO NOTIFICATION SOUNDS ARE SUPER LOUD! so is ringtones!

Im working on this rom with a couple other guys....i actually posted the update lol
HERE is the link to the new thread..we try and update daily. im working on bluetooth right now actually. The newest i posted has the dual kernel included and i removed apk's like 2 android terminals and 2 other useless apps...
And THIS is the link to same version with kernel included.

I've only used Syndicate (with the exception of a one day stint with Bonsai) since migrating from Nebula. I might have to give this a try as I've seen this name thrown around in the past with much enthusiasm

miui on superAMoLED screen! can't wait for a stable version! I use 4g often these days ever since sprint decided to put a tower in detroit. but when i'm done with school i'll be back home with no 4g, so i'll give it a run then. I hope MMS and bluetooth can be fixed. i'm more sicked for this rom than GB.

Actually ive been trying to get GB MIUI to work lol never gets passed boot screen but i guess thats something lol
I really love the rom! So smooth. That screen delay is the only thing keeping me from every day use.

You cant imagine how much it would lol right now im actually going to get a fascinate GB MIUI rom and add things to see if it will boot using cm7 kernel..

Someone tesed earlier for me a new kernel..its actually the original kernel (old genocide with MIUI tweaks) and screen lag was gone. But 3g suffered a little i think and he said rom was smoother..so il be playing with that after work.

That's great! I think its amazing how far you guys have come in such a short time. Its nice having more than 1 dev working on this. Although he did a great job, with what time he had. Ahmgsk.. I think that's his name is a great dev!

Nixo31, I am confused here. I know ahmgsk has been working on MIUI, and you are also. Are you guys working on it together? If not I think you guys should, also maybe ask him if you could take OP of MIUI thread in development until he becomes less busy, Like I stated before, reason people is not giving this a try as much is because the thread is not updated. I think once people seen it was being updated and worked on they would try it more!

Well the Nexus S 4G comes out in about a week and a half, so that should help too.

What features it have?
It have a JIT, app2sd, SD card speedfix or something else?
There is nothing about it thats why i asking.
And what about this screen blur after few minutes?
Can someone answer me?
I testing also couple other custom ROM like Kyrillos, Apocalypse, InDroid and GreenMod, but i wanna test this one also.
For me right now the Apocalipse is the fastest but i can not used because camera issue and im using Kyrillos 4.1 OC with JFS partitions.

Ok i tested Lestatious myself and i can say that problem with bluring exists.
Then i back to Kyrillos 4.1 OC. After changing the partition to JFS is almost that fast like Apocalypse.
I hope that final version of Apocalypse will be released soon and will be without any bugs. And i hope that Dark Lestat fix his new rom.

Flores is just retarted for shouting bullcrap like that. Lestat has still made the only kitchen rom there is for our Galaxy, and it even is a good one. You probably haven't even tried it out (saying it only changes framework points to that).

I'm just flash Lestatious again but i replace the kernel with this one from Kyrillos 4.1. After that im install SetCPU and i choose 166 minimum. Then i replace the kernel again with Lestatious original and now everything working fine. I convert all partition to ext2 and now i have about 14k in linpack and 670 in quadrant. F.....g awsome and no freezes at all. Thx and im waiting for app2sd now.

Hmmm, i update Lestatious to new kernel Alpha 14 with update.bat and i think that something go wrong because after that i have 5k in linpack and quadrant stuck at I/O test. Can someone could write about the linpack and quadrant score on this version of ROM?
Now i try to flash again this ROM using ODIN, maybe this could help. If dont, then i will back to previous version with alpha 10.
Ok i found the problem. On alpha 14 the CPU speed is 83mhz only, when i change to 1300 with SetCPU is ok but after couple of minutes going back to 83 again. Im going back to alpha 10. Maybe there is a problem with blur, but after setting minimum CPU speed to 166 everything is ok.

Deleted for kanging Roach prime 1.7. Roach had many reason why fabio was using roach's EXACT rom and passing it off on his own.

Not when you don't give credit. According to Roach he made a error in where he placed some of his files in the wrong directory in the settings.apk and he left them there since it was an alpha. Those exact files were found on fabio's rom...

if we ask Fabio , I believe he could say something to defend.
it's not a good behaviour to delete a whole thread just because one person says something about it.
I was using this Revolver ROM and now I'll go whereever he puts his ROM on.
If not Fabio's work, we all had discussins in that thread. How can it be deleted so easily ?

so what now ?? i was using this ROM and i was waiting for HC 3.2 update but it's removed !! Prime 1.6 is really slow and the HC 3.2 update is still not there !! also i wanted to overclock ....
we'll search for revolver on other forums...
Umm there is definitely a difference in the two Roms. With roaches Rom I was not able to install apks, with fabios Rom I can. I am using it right now. I'd like to thank both for their good work.

Maybe you have a completely different hardware, or your TF hates Prime deep inside, but personally I tried Revolver 1.1.3, spent 30 min with it, considered it being a little buggy and a deal slower and went back straight to Prime 1.6 + Netformer 1.5 overclocked, which is stable, fast and overall great.
You can still search for Revolver elsewhere though, tastes differ...

there is not a single comparison between the two roms.
the one was slow as hell and had many fc and the other was fast as hell and only 1-2 fc per day for activity launcher.
anyway,i do remember before the revolver rom got dissapeared that revolver was thanking roach on the first page of the rom discription....

So, I am a little frustrated, and I am sure this has been answered but I cant seem to find the answer.(at least not one that makes sense anyway) . Why on earth are all the custom roms made for European variants of our beloved cell phones? I have spent tireless hours combing through the hundreds of youtube videos, and dozens of forum posts, to only find one single Custom ROM that works correctly for the Galaxy on5 SM-G550T1. (Thank you to czarsuperstar for giving us The Superstarz Rom, You did it right and finished the job.)
I know I am a noob and all and I definitely am no DEV, but could someone please help me and explain this to me like I am a 2 year old. Why is there no US variants of custom mods? Now I have looked up several different phones but to no avail, unless you own a samsung NOTE or S series your just out of luck. And NO, a rom that has no sound is NOT complete, just sayin.
I know that building one of these custom roms is not an easy task, god knows my dumb ass couldnt do it, but if your going to build something, please finish the job, I mean I would never give you a house I built, that was short a roof.

No worries bro I've been porting a rom just for our g550t1 give me little bit because my job barely have time but it will get done. Also I still need to ask for permission befor posting. Just want to make sure everything is right
That is awesome! I really enjoy my on5 and I would really hate to have to buy a different phone. I know it is not high end but it has become part of who i am, so much that I bought a second one for myself just in case some tragedy were to happen to my beloved On5. I am looking forward to your work and hope to further my experience as, what I call myself, a tech geek in training. maybe someday I will be able to build a rom and repay all the ones who have helped me in my journey. I aspire to be half as smart as those of you who do build custom roms. Thank you for the work you are doing and I cannot wait to see what you have in store
Yeah this is the first phone i ever rooted, only new to this bout 2 months. But it is sad that i cant find a sweet ROM for G550T1 mPCS. But it seems that whoever can Master this model will be shiznit. But dying to get rid of this stock ROM.

Well since I posted this there has very little help in the way of getting a ROM made or even ported one for the G550T1, So I figured I would take upon myself to educate myself in the ways of the force. It hasnt been easy but I think I may be close to having an actually working ROM, That has sound and everything, imagine that, sound. Its only taken me what 2 months to gain headway. So, bro keep your head up there may be light at the end of the tunnel yet.

I am so close I just have a few quirks to iron out and I will have completed the 2nd custom ROM in known history for the American variant of the on5. I don't know if it works on the g550t2 but as soon as I am done I will let you know and you can test it out

Im not either but I have done alot of reading and a load of trial and error. I have dedicated every moment I am not at work to creating this ROM. So I hope it will be as badass as I imagined.
Well........I think i may have done it, I hope I have at least. All I need now is a Few Beta testers to give this baby a try and let me know what i could change or improve. Once that is in place I guess It will get released.....any takers?
My friend just handed the on5 off on me a couple days ago. I'm more than willing to blow it up in the pursuit of happiness.

I'll test out the rom if you can send me the link it really does suck that we don't have any roms for this phone also wanted to put out there that I was able to flash a cm13 rom ment for a J5 prime it flashed with no problem but won't boot due to kernel if someone could work that out it would be nice
